In general, a good place to buy Asian groceries.Showed up roughly 13-14 minutes before closing and was told that they are not letting any customers in. This is apparently standard practice. I was living close by and often stop by on my way home. On a couple of occasions, I noticed them shutting out customers. If you are not going to let customers in 15 minutes before closing, you should just list your closing time 15 minutes earlier instead of making customers waste a trip.
I was in the area and went here to get a few things I needed. Though this store is super old and mostly dustry the stock/ inventory is decent selection. It can use some remodeling for sure. Price is comparable to other Asian grocery store in the area.
Its good convenient but they have some bad cuts of meat. But what can i complain it has everything i am looking for
Large, well stocked, but slightly dated Asian supermarket.
Large selectionFresh fruits and vegetablesPlenty of parkingFriendly staffCompetitive pricing
Its not as busy as before pandemic. The fruits and green vegetables are not as fresh as before either.
Good for fish. The place stinks though - guess it’s the normal for Asian supermarkets with meat/poultry/fish sections.
If I can give less than one star, I could. If you are NOT Asian, you will NOT be give the same customer service or respect and will be subjected to racial profiling. My family and I have been going to the Lions Supermarket on Milpitas Blvd all our lives. On 2/21, my mother and I went to buy some seafood, and when we left the store one of the clerks, who goes by Han, stopped us and asked to see our receipts in an aggressive tone and everyone stopped and looked. My mom and I were so shocked because in all the years weve come to shop, we have never had this happen.Anyways, my mom asked for the manager but no one was there. We told the clerk and 2 others who were watching that we have been coming here for ever and have never been treated like this. It was humiliating and disappointing. We tried to reach out to store manager with the card they gave us, but no one answered. I will seek further action and have reached out to headquarters. Please avoid and take your business somewhere else where sales clerks will respect you.
Produce was pretty good and thats all I was going for.
Cleaner and better organized, more expensive Lion Market in Bay Area. Maybe because its located in the most expensive housing area of San Jose.
I found all my groceries here 🤗 ☺
The vegetables are very fresh .
Best fresh fish prep area. Doesnt smell very clean compared to competitors. Produce and other areas were organized and stocked. The front isles made it difficult to navigate non maskers (yes there were a couple) and to make space waiting for the register. The bad. Most, almost all the chest style freezers holding unagi, shrimp, dumplings, you get the picture, were not holding the temp at frozen. All the products I checked out were thawing if not thawed with the exception of the bottom items touching the freezer components. They have some issues in this area. Needless to say we did not bring home any frozen items, too sketchy.
Great place Asian store shopping
The meat, fish, vegetables and fruit here are not fresh. In fact, we had stomachache after eating ribs, ground pork, and fish from this place. You would notice that the meat section is fairly empty and the meat does not look fresh (some have even turned blue-ish). It was a big mistake to shop here.
Vege and fruits were cheap!
Good price, but sanitation need to be improved.
Good
Lion Supermarkets, like 99 Ranch markets are the flagship Asian markets in the bay area. This market has a very nice produce market catering to Indian, Asian and American tastes. The produce is usually quite fresh due to their high volume. Live fish is another option in this store. That along with live snails and oysters. You can pick your fish and they will clean it as you request. Deep frying of fish is another option up until about an hour before they close. The fish counter is clearly marked as to the origin of all of the products. The meat counter is also quite extensive. Anything you buy can be cut to your specifications. Along with the fresh items, there is no end to the preserved foods on the shelves. Read the labels carefully. Many items contain MSG. Some of the flavorings are pure chemicals with out a trace of natural food.Parking can be an issue at peak times, so plan accordingly.
Ive been shopping here frequently! This store has always been better service and selection.
More various of Asian food.
Big supermarket. Lots of varieties.
This place is in desperate need of an upgrade. It was built roughly 40 years ago when there were not much of anything interesting in San Jose. The supermarket carries mostly Vietnamese and Chinese products. Its old to say the least. On the bright side, ok be can still get cheap groceries, just dont expect the highest quality.
A great Asian market. Found good values in some snack treats. Clean. Fresh looking vegetables and fruits. Meats looked fresh as well. Recommended when you are looking for Asian products.
Its alright. Has the cheapest produce but really based on luck for the quality you get. Sometimes its fresh, sometimes its literally rotting. Things that dont get bought frequently arent refreshed regularly either. I wonder how long cookies, chips, sauces, etc stay on the shelves...
Very good selection for vegetable and seafood. I buy oysters and crabs here. Very good price. Be careful of the parking lot, everyone hits your car.
Clean good place to shop. Little pricey.
This place is clean and organize albeit a bit tight. Its not a small supermarket but it had so much stuff that the aisles are really small and its so busy that often times you literally have yup squeeze your way around people and carts. However I love the selection of the stuff they sell from fresh produce to the meat and seafood section. They also have a wide variety of Asian snacks and specialty products. The price is more expensive than my favorite supermarket closer to home but they are a bigger chain and do have more variety.
Good for fish
Good enough.I was expecting more stuff, though.
Cashiers r talkative.
Great place for Asian style shopping especially seafood and Asian import groceries/drinks. Not as refined as most US stores but gets there job done and offers things you can not get at domestic chain stores. When you go in veggies on right, freezers far left, fish in back left, beer back right, dry and canned goods center, liquor under lock and key up front. Bring your own bags. Staff is neither friendly not rude. CC are accepted.
A lot of items that you will not find at Ranch 99. Also the price here is less expensive than Ranch. Great variety of Asian spices.. vegetables etc.
Great for Chinese groceries. Dont go here if looking for American type food. Prices are always reasonable and the produce is fresh
This place is very good for seafoods and meat 🍖 🐠 they have many varieties of fish to select upon ! Please go for seafoods on fridays and meat on Thursdays since their stock arrives a day before the mentioned date, they also have many number of veggies to select upon at reasonable costs, like the comment it you found it to be useful 👍🏽😃
Im a seafood lover and if you want the freshest seafood you have to come here! I always get my shrimp from the frozen section, the best shrimp Ive tried anywhere.
Not bad asia supermarket.
Nice market with lots of fruits and other variety foods. Bit the thing I observed, some of the fruits are very dry and yet on the shelves. Most
Its a good place but some prices of items are a bit higher
It was good, but i didnt get all the things o needed
Sticky smell from meat department
Local Asian market I frequent regularly. Not the cleanest or nicest looking but good enough for me for everyday grocery shopping.
Best Asian market, clean, fresh veggies, fruits, seafood n meat. Price is best per compared to others.
Best place to buy all my Thai spices and food from Thailand. Ranch 99 does not have any of that.
This chain of Asian Supermarketsare fairly good, but may not have thevariety of the larger chains. As inmost Chinese supermarkets, theyare not paragons of hygiene....butin terms of pre-canned, bottled, dried,& such prepared food, you cannot gowrong. 50lbs bags of varioustypes of rice (e.g. Jasmine) are cheap.
This place is sucks. Found that when you asked for an specific items those workers seems dont understand what you are saying. I see most of the people inside lack English skills meaning they know only little English or no English at all. I dont mind speaking Chinese with them but I have stay in America for a long time so I prefer to speak English most of the times. Also they are extremely rude when they talk, I meant they are loud no manner or say a bad word. There are some Spanish people working there as well, but their English skills are also poor. I think that guy who run the store name Alex he is an Asian kid doesnt really give good training to their worker. He just expect the people to work and work just like laborers, he is nuts I believe. I dont blame them because most of the people inside working are new immigrants anyway, the boss took advantage of them seriously.
Good place for south east Asian ingredients. Had got melted and refrozen mochi ice cream from here before, so they are not quite perfect in keeping things in order. Mostly okay though.
Pricing is reasonable. Food varieties are abundant. Cashier is not friendly.
Today I felt like having fresh seafood and they got a nice selection on top of a great service.
Good vegetables at a good price but place has an odor throughout the market.
The produce sections are good in price freshness.
Very clean, organized place. However, many of the employees do not know English, so asking for directions may be difficult for some people.
Lion has it all.It is so convenient and I always find what I need at a very affordable price
Nice Asian food supermarket. Decent prices and good selection.
I was for first time in this store, and I really like it.I will definitely come back here
Your typical Asian Market, packed with goodies and all your Asian spices and favorite foods, fresh veggies, fresh fish, and the usual smell that most Asian markets have.
Mom found everything she needed. They will even fry the fish you choose. Nice service at the fish department. We asked for ice and they gave us some.
Decent market though expensive for what it is. Smelly in the seafood section like most Asian markets are. I would prefer going elsewhere.
They don’t even have lions here. False advertising
There was stinky smell in the store, stronger near meat section. It was a mix of raw meat and raw fish smell. Cashiers were looking tried of working.
I love to shop here since they first opened.
Good selection, fair prices, smelly
Good size of typical Asian markets
You get a good lot of Chinese food items. Vegetarians better not go.
It offers much better pricing than others, like Ranch 99.
The best oriental supermarket in the south bay.
Mostly fresh produce, usually has other products I am looking for.
Good place to find alot of foreign foods.
One stop place for asian, Chinese, Korean groceries like fresh meat, live fishes & authentic asian snacks, utensils and related services are provided here.
Good place to buy thai and chinese ingredients
Drop by this supermarket just happened to dine in the neighborhood. Generally little bit more expensive than those in San Leandro. But then again, this is Silicon Valley area. They dont accept credit card for purchase less than $5. Foodnet in San Leandro accept any amount.
You can get a variety of different vegetables here. The employees were kind and helpful.
Has all the Chinese grocery plus fresh live crabs and fishes
Convenient, cheap, and checking out is quick, no long waiting in line like other grocery stores. There are variety of fish in here that you dont find elsewhere.
Stinky, stinky, store. Produce are possibly 2nd or 3rds. Packaged products are slightly cheaper compared to Ranch. However, I would think twice buying any meat or seafood. Stay away. I dont recommend.
Its a Chinese supermarket. The place looks old and outdated but sometimes you can find fresh seafood here.
Many rude people here especially the workers at the register.
Packaged food are mostly rotten and when I went to the manager for the problem she was not ready to take responsibility and apologise, instead other cashier started shouting on me... The management of the store is irresponsible and have no manners to talk to the customers....
The raw meet department smells like hell. Like something died there.
Very hard to find items. Prices not clearly marked. Products outdated.
My kids like the unique Asian foods from here.
Good fish
Be careful while buying bakery stuff. Check properly as they might not be fresh
Decent priced but dont expect greetings or customer service from cashiers.
Fresh produce, variety of stuffs.. this is my regular grocery store
Quality is compromised on quite a few products
Moms favorite Asian market.
Nice place to buy rice. But environment is not good
Its a great place for Filipinos to shop.
Good Asian market in an Asian-themed mall. Parking can be a challenge at times.
Rude or dont care I dont know. Dont even ask them to FRY your fish, before you finish your request their rudely walking away from you. Oh yeah its RUDE.
Great store for all your oriental needs! Sushi soon!!! Yes from scratch!
Good service good seafood anything
Good price for certain food. E.g. Chicken feet, vegies...
Betelnut.
Good store they fry fish.
