I’m always pleased with the service I receive at John Amato. They go above and beyond, especially with warranty claims. Another dealer had quoted me $1,000+ in repairs; John Amato was able to fix my car under warranty with no cost to me.
I went there with a few problems with my truck and they were very thorough letting me know before any work was done of what I needed I didn’t feel like I was been charged for things I didn’t unnecessarily need and being a women u feel like mechanics or business try to get over on you but not them I was always called or made aware of any changes of charges and I appreciated that instead of just getting a bill I couldn’t afford. my truck is running great and I didn’t have to repeatedly go back for things it was done right the first time and they had great customer care and I will definitely always use there service for my truck Thank you guys for treating me with great respect.
Came in after many months due to Covid 19 lockdown. As usual the service was awesome...told me what my car needed for a check up and.oil change. So good to see the number of women and African American mechanics and service advisors. Even though I no longer work near this place, I will be back for all my service needs.
Friendly and helpful staff. Buying my car was a very easy experience. They held my car for me and ensured nobody would buy it until I seen it. The finance process, and the finance manager was very nice and helpful, even walked me to the door, and gave me helpful information going forward. BJ, the general manager, was exceptionally wonderful! He went over and beyond, and ensured my concerns were resolved within a timely manner. Followed up with me, and communicated with me on a regular basis. There is no doubt that customer satisfaction is their goal. The service staff is also very nice and thorough. Not to mention, they have the home of the warranty forever! Great place! Great service!!

Called Tuesday to set up an appointment for Thursday. They say weve got you scheduled and well send a confirmation email.I dont get an email so I call back Wednesday. They say I dont want to double-book you so Ill check the other department to make sure youre scheduled and call you back.An hour goes by with no call so I call a third time. They say Yes, you are scheduled for Thursday, but I cant send a confirmation email.I show up for my appointment Thursday.They have nothing scheduled.They did still do the work when I showed up.But I was told when I bought the car that they wash it when you bring it in for service, and they sure didnt.Im just going to call the Warranty Forever number instead of going back to Amato for service.
Went for my oil change and check up on my vehicle. My service Rep Shelley was very nice and really knew her stuff! Very easy to work with, will continue to use her as my service rep for future work
Never coming here again. My car needed new tire pressure sensors and I was worried about a horrible groaning noise when I started the engine. Sensors take only a few minutes to install but they had to order more, which they said would only take a few days. John Amato kept my car for over a month. Every time I called to check on its status, they either told me the mechanic was “not in right now” or that it would be just a few days. I would call late morning, midday and afternoon and he was almost never there. It was nearly impossible to get ahold of people without waiting on hold and sometimes those people were straight up DISHONEST about what was happening with my car. Finally I told them I was going to come pick it up, ready or not, if I didn’t get a call back by the end of the day because the lack of communication was so shady and strange I almost thought someone had stolen or damaged my car. The receptionist was unfazed by my distress and no one got back to me that day. When I finally got my car back, the sensors were in, but they said they checked out the groaning noise and everything was fine. Turns out the car needs a new starter. One of the most frustrating experiences ever and all they offered me for the confusion and inconvenience was a “sorry it took so long.” Overall, bad and bizarre experience.
If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Service dept. is excellent. Many last minute appointments available, unlike the competitor I actually bought my car from. Month wait for an oil change? Ridiculous. Amato is fast and friendly. Got my emissions test done, in and out in less than 5 min. Whatever my issue, they get it fixed. My air conditioner hose was clogged and it was leaking water into my car. They got it in, flushed it out within 10 min, and no charge. Thanks, youre the best.
I took my car in for a new starter. When I got it back I had trouble shifting into reverse and 1st gear. They acted dumbfounded but discovered that they had forgot to clamp something after replacing the starter. No harm no foul, I guess. Just a waste of my time.My next appointment it was determined I needed a new clutch. 2 weeks and $2600 later my car is returned to me good as new except now I have a puddle of fluid on my driveway after leaving my car parked for a week while I was out of town. How this was missed I have no idea. Im afraid to take my car back and Im sure Ill have to pay for this too.

Went for an emissions test in and out very quickly. Need to add the hours that youre open for emissions because they differ from your other listed hours.
Had some problems setting up oil changes but when I reached out to Amato’ BJ in customer service, he made sure I was scheduled. Then got a call from John Amato asking if everything was good. Very impressed with how my concerns were addressed! Thank you Amato Team!

I worked with Sam (dealer) and Coby (finance manager) and they were AMAZING! From start to finish they made sure I only needed to make 1 trip to the dealership for EVERYTHING to be completed and that I drove off the lot in my new car! Came in on a Wednesday talked to Sam about my options then set an appointment to come in that Saturday to review and finalize. Sam told me he would take care of my needs and he did just that. The entire team actually went above and beyond anything I couldve expected! All the staff members there were so nice and helpful from the service team who showed me to the side door because I was there earlier than the showroom open and showed me where I could sit, to the other dealers who would just walked by and smile and say good morning even though I wasnt there customer, to the dealer who help me Sam and right on down to the finance manager I worked with Coby. Excellent car buying experience with Ade Adesokun. I did my pricing research before reaching out to Amato Hyundai to see if they had the new vehicle I was looking for. There arent a lot of them on lots right now. Ade told me they had one on order and he could reserve it for me so that I could buy it when it came in. I told him Ive got a busy schedule so I wanted the process to be as quick as possible. I told him what Id be willing to pay for the vehicle and what I wanted for my trade and he said yes to both without pushing for a higher sale price or lower trade-in value. Our communication was super efficient - Ade emailed me the details I needed and even coordinated ordering and putting roof racks on the vehicle because the one that they had coming in didnt have them.Ade let me know when the vehicle arrived on the lot and by then we already had all the details of the purchase/trade-in worked out down to the penny so I just needed to come to the lot and close the sale. [Full disclosure: I had told Ade from the beginning that wasnt using him to shop prices around and that if he gave me prices I felt were fair on the new vehicle and the trade-in, Id buy from him. He took me at my word, but I wouldnt expect Ade or any other salesperson would give detailed pricing information like that out to someone whos just using that info to get a better deal at a different lot.]The first time I met Ade in person is when I came to the lot. I gave the vehicle a short test drive, made sure its what I expected, and signed the sale documents Ade had ready for me. Total time on site at the lot to close the sale was just under 30 minutes. I really appreciated that Ade did all he could to be as transparent about the numbers (there we no surprises) and that he took to heart that I needed the transaction to be quick due to my schedule. Ade is a stand-up guy and a true professional. Ill call Ade first when its time for me to buy a new car.

John Amato was very helpful in getting a new engine in our car. However the Hyundai Corporation (NOT John Amato) made it take 5 months to get the new engine due to the hoops we had to jump through. John Amato was very helpful in getting the process started and worked thru despite the continued issue with Hyundai Corporation (especially since Hyundai knew they had cars with bad engines).
When I bought my car a few years ago, the salesman, Adi, was outstanding! He took the time to explain all the new features in my car, and I was overwhelmingly impressed. However, the service department leaves a lot to be desired. Ive had numerous problems with them, from a blasting stereo when I picked up my car to needing multiple visits to fix the same problem. They still do the multi-point inspections, but dont give a copy to the customers anymore. Thats no help at all! Most recently, I brought it in for a troublesome noise in my front end. I was charged over $1000 for a brake job that I had no indication I needed, and the noise was still there. After speaking with the general manager, I brought it back in to the service department and my concerns were quickly dismissed. They wouldnt even look at my car again. Still bothered by the noise, I brought it to Midas in Brookfield and they found and removed an opossum nest (and the rodent) that was pressing between the wheel well and the front bumper -- at no charge, by the way. I wont go back to John Amato for anything unless theres no choice. Thats too bad, because Ive done business with them for over 10 years. I used to trust them, but no more.

Service Department is Terrible! I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu that has been serviced several times because of the oil not being filled, changed, or closed properly During routine oil changes (Which I pay for in my monthly note). I’ve complained and told them to make sure that the oil is serviced well enough to prevent future damage multiple times. Austin, in particular, has made several of my experiences in the service department unpleasant. Normally, people who are good at their job aren’t rude, and treat people as if they operate slower than the average person. If you do purchase a car from this dealership is should be a Hyundai because clearly from mine, and other reviews, they don’t know how to service any other vehicle.

Worked with Sam. I previously worked with him for my last vehicle purchase so I thought why not return. He had me in there for 3 hours. Stated he’d get back to me with results and still to this day haven’t heard a thing from him. I was told not to fill out any more apps for a vehicle with anyone else to not run my credit again. But I’m now forced to do so because here we are a month later and no follow up. My sign to hang it up with Amato!
John Amato Hyundai is an excellent place to shop for a car. The staff is fantastic and knowledgeable. Sam went above and beyond to find me the vehicle I wanted. The Elantra I looked at first, and test drove didnt have what I wanted, but when I returned from my test drive, Sam was waiting for me with another key fob. He said he found what I said I wanted, and he did. All the options and the color I wanted. As he said, it was karma. They will be my dealer of choice for any future vehicle.
I was very pleased with the quality of work. My car runs great. However, I scheduled a pickup /courtesy ride with the shuttle driver the night before for 3:30p the next day.I was notified by phone that my repairs were complete and my car was ready for pickup. The gentleman on the phone also asked if I had scheduled a pickup ride back to my car. I said yes, he said my ride would be there at 3:30p. The shuttle driver never showed up. I waited outside my job for 25 minutes before oil called for a Lyft to Amato Hyundai 76th.That ride cost me $38.When I arrived at the service center, the shuttle driver was talking to other staff and drinking coffee. I told my Service Coordinator, he just apologized and said he would talk to the driver. I wasnt satisfied with that. I feel like after paying $1100 in repairs, the least they could have done would be to make sure I had a ride to my car. Since they offer the service. There was no offer of a discount for future oil change. No offer of a free oil change. Nor offer to refund the Lyft ride. They didnt offer to wash my car. It was just Oh sorry about that. Ill talk to him.Nothing. This is not good customer service.
I spent over $2000 for repairs that should have been caught before since I had 2 diagnostic test completed on it. After repairs were completed, I was told if I had any problems to call. I called several times, left several messages and no one called me back. Now Im stuck paying off repairs and my car still has some of the same issues going on.
Absolutely the worst place ive ever gotten service at. Paid for a diagnosis and everything and they didnt fully check the car. Broke down within a mere 2 hours after picking it up. Why would i pay for another diagnosis for you to check what you should have checked the first time? Unbelievable.

They tried to replace a part they had just replace not much over a month or so before.. Lied saying there was more than one part on the car when there is not. Refunded my money but not all of it. Told me my refund check would be ready in an hour, showed up in about 2 hours. Check was unsigned and the same woman that said it would be ready in an hour said she never said that and that the ONLY person who was able to sign the check was off work that day. I live far and told her she let me drive all that way for nothing. Then she proceeded to tell me that there was someone in their other building who was able to sign. These people are a nightmare, not only did they overcharge, lie and even when they gave a refund they seemed to enjoy giving a disabled woman a panick attack.

Was sold a Hyundai certified vehicle, and I was told that the only damage was a door ding. After a couple of days with the vehicle, I have found fire damage to the vehicle. The dealership said that it is a cosmetic issue, when clearly the fire could have caused damage behind panels, which they will not inspect.Stay far far away from this dealership.

The best and most comfortable experience with a dealer possible. My wife hates car shopping and always feels uncomfortable around cars salesman. After meeting Juan one time, she was in there test driving vehicles by themselves. We dealt with a few other dealerships while looking for the right car and they were all horrible experiences in comparison. Ken and Juan both worked to find me the right car and helped us come to a fair price for both of us. I will 100% start my future car shopping experiences here because of they way you get treated here. We said we wanted to buy a car from there after the first time we stopped in. Not only was that great but my battery died the day after i bought the car. No questions asked, they replaced the battery. You dont find car dealerships like this place anymore. I will be recommending them to everyone.

Disappointed with past services. I was never advised that my brake pads would need replacing. Instead I need pads and rotors. This is the only place who service my car. I would appreciate being advised verbally that pads are needed prior to needed rotors. You dont always need to replace rotors if you replace the pads timely.

I have owned my vehicle now for almost 3 years and have had to visit the dealership for multiple reasons. What I appreciate most is the consistency of care each time I’ve visited. Juan Jones was my point of contact person possibly 99% of the time I’ve had to come into the dealership. Juan has gone out of his way to make sure that any questions I had wereanswered. He also pointed me Into the direction to which I was able to get concerns addressed and he has even gone as far as making sure that my car was washed after having it serviced. His attention to details and excellent customer service is outstanding. Should I decide to purchase another Hyundai, I will seek out Juan‘s expertise because he has demonstrated himself to be not just a trustworthy salesman but genuinely care for the needs of his customers!

I see there are some negative reviews; however, I went in there today (single mom here). I worked with Andre. Told him exactly what I was looking for and he worked with me to get the price I felt comfortable with. No pressure. Great conversations. Personable. I’ve literally walked out of other dealerships as I felt they were too pushy or trying to scam me for their own commission and benefit... not here. Andre took the time to sync my phone with my new Tucson, and was knowledgeable and answered all my questions about the vehicle. I could not have had a better experience. Very disappointed. I made an appointment with Juan to test drive a Hyundai Tucson on Friday March 26 at 5pm. When I arrived I was told that Juan had left 3pm but would probably be back. I waited 30 minutes and Juan was a no show. Very dissatisfied, I drove a over a half hour to the dealership and had my fiancé leave work early to accompany me to the appointment only for it to be a no-show.
I bought my 2018 Hyundai Elantra this year in June. The sales rep, Juan Jones, was awesome! He helped me find a car that was within my price range, and I love it!I took my car back for the first service in September, and they were quick and very professional.My Dad actually recommended John Amatos to me, and Im very glad he did. And thats why I recommend them to anyone looking to buy a car.The staff are very friendly, courteous, helpful, professional, and fun.

I was hesitant to go to the dealer because of the potential cost of the repair. Well, not only did they fix an issue that Midas totally misdiagnosed but they found a way to save me a lot of money. The work was done quickly and I left feeling like a VIP. Im ONLY going back to Amato for future car repairs.
Never go to them to get your car serviced.. so unprofessional.. and I’m speaking on Shelly.. I took my car up there and I was told my fuel pump went out and a few other parts needed to be replaced.. got it done and my car still wouldn’t start.. so I returned for another diagnostic and IT was a completely different problem “my computer” which I can only get it done at Hyundai.. so she tried to charge me again for a diagnostic fee which I found was unfair because your workers should’ve fully looked at my car that’s what I paid you for.. and I still have to come back and get a fix I can’t go nowhere else to get an computer.. so why charge me $150 for the first diagnostic and $1200 For the fuel pump replacement and tell me I have to come up with $1500 for my computer and feel comfortable asking me to pay and $150 Again because y’all missed a spot.. Bs don’t go to them

Ive used John Amato for almost 10 years and Ill never go back. Treatment has been slipping but now its at an all time low. My car was damaged by the brake light job and the battery terminals were not reconnected properly. This left my car dead right as I was leaving for a Wisconsin road trip vacation. Ill never go back.

This is where I purchased and service my vehicle. If I forget my service time they send friendly reminders. If there is any other service need they will let you know without pressuring you to have it done right then. They give you the information and leave it up to you when you want to get it done.
I really feel like Amato Hyundai stays on top of my service needs, providing the necessary service for my Sonata at a good value point. Ive found them to be cost-competitive with non-dealer shops but with the advantage of being more knowledgeable about my vehicle.
Do not get your car repaired here! Diagnostic fees are not charged in Chicago area unless you choose to have the work done elsewhere. This is the most expensive place you will find for even simple repairs. On top of $125 diagnostic fee they charge a shop fee. Lots of independent shops to replace parts in your Hyundai. Run away from Amato dealers.
I received a letter from the dealership that listed three options of what I could do with my vehicle that I currently own. The three options that I had was I could trade in my vehicle and they would pay off the loan. I could keep my vehicle and they would give me a loan for $40,000 or I could just sell them my vehicle and didnt have to buy one of theirs. They had all the information on my vehicle mileage and pay off amount. They even had a hand wrote sticky note saying they wanted to buy my vehicle. I went in they didnt even look at the vehicle they told me they only wanted to make a sale they didnt want to buy my vehicle. So this dealership is sending out letters to people lying to them to get them to come in and buy from them. Sounds like these people understand how to do honest business. (sarcasm)
They were understaffed and could not complete all the tasks at hand. The manager called me to apologize and schedule a new service and since then I haven’t heard from them. He asked me to change my score and then after I did he was done with trying to fix the problem. I will not be returning.
They get you in at your Scheduled appointed time. Gave me A Shuttle ride to my Destination. Called me immediately after Vehicle 🚗 was ready. Great 👍 Service.

This is our 3rd Hyundai in 15 years and still own 2 of them. We needed warranty work done on 2 of the 3 late in their years and though I was near the 100K mile point, Hyundai didnt make me jump thru hoops or give me the runaround. Shelly G took care of me, got me a loaner car over the holidays and when I picked up my vehicle with a brand new engine all I owed was a $20 tire repair fee. Service here is top notch, sales (Juan) is as down to earth and honest as it gets and they really do take care of you.

The service was good. They got me out quickly. They were unable to peel off the previous sticker, so they put over another sticker over it. The sticker is not really needed since my car tells me when service is needed. They got my seats dirty and didnt clean them. Thank goodness I scotchguard my seats. I was able to clean my seats when I got home.

This will be my first and last time dealing with Amato. Customer service is poor.... The receptionists have terrible attitudes, and the communication between the staff is definitely lacking. I will NEVER come to Amato again! BUYER BEWARE!They have tons of bad reviews yet they only reply to those That have given them five stars!! Why not address and reply to customers who have given a poor rating and try to satisfy their complaints???IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD.

Lack of communication, felt completely disregarded. Told warranty would cover part and was only told warranty was expired when came in to get repairs. Was told repairs would be made immediately so I could take car home day of. That was a lie. Did not have part and would not have it for better part of a week.The service advisor Shelly was in no way comforting. Felt scrutinized by her during the entire conversation. She was the one who said they had the part when in fact they did not. Shelly did not do a complete job and lacked customer service skills.
