The staff were really helpful and walked me through the different radios until we found the one that would work the best for what I needed.I highly recommend going if you are looking for anything amateur radio related. Their selection is second to none.If this store was closer to where I live I would go there more often. Its definitely worth the trip though.

I wanted this to be better. I was in town visiting my brother in law, Im from Michigan. We made the long drive to HRO, a special trip because Id never been here before. I was very excited. But the store is closed to the public due to covid.Now, I get it. Thats fine, better be safe than sorry. But this is 2020 and you are a modern company... So... UPDATE YOUR GOOGLE MAPS LISTING TO SHOW YOU ARE CLOSED! Its not hard at all. It wouldve saved me 2hrs of driving, because currently it says your are definitely open for in-store shopping. For that, I am giving you a low star rating. I hope to come back sometime in the future. It really does look awesome inside. I hope that when I do, I wont have to call you to confirm you are, in fact, open. In todays modern age, with a company your size, that shouldnt be a problem.

I spoke with Gregg over email. He advised me EXACTLY what I needed. He was spot on! The Comet antenna I received was packaged very well and so easy to install! This antenna is sturdy and the hinge to bend it over for clearance issues is VERY well built. Previously I was swindled by an Chinese knock off that broke in 2 days. NOT FROM THIS STORE. I bought it from Amazon. The antenna I was suggested works like a charm! I want to thank the professionalism and putting up with my multiple emails to Gregg. This is a nice store. I have been going in here for more then 30 years. All the way back when they first opened this location and it was AES.The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.They do tend to act a little different towards you if your a Cber rather than a ham operator.Soon I hope to have my ticket and hope that changes for me.I find the search engine to be challenging to find products. But all in all its a nice store with good inventory.

I was in town on other business, so I figured why not drive another half-hour out of my way to check out HRO, because I’d really like to see what they have in scanners and used radios. Pickup your order at the East door or tell them to ship it.Callers may notice a rushed feeling. Because of the call volume, HRO tends to reduce talk time. Know what you need and order local. If you have some questions, a sales rep may have the experience you need. Depend on the manufacturer and YouTube, however, after purchase.

I know next to nothing about ham radios, but I needed an adapter for a VCR I’m attempting to resurrect and hoped they might have the part. The gentlemen in the store greeted me right away. The one who assisted me knew exactly where the tiny piece I needed was, which was impressive considering the sheer volume of items in the store. And the price was great. When I asked, “What the heck do you all sell here?” he took time to give me the nickel tour, which was really interesting. There are lots of neat items here, even for those that aren’t (yet) ham radio enthusiasts - think super cool items for the science-y kid or adult in your life. And possibly neat project ideas for homeschoolers.The store was quite busy! Employees were putting together online orders for shipping. Even though I knew zero, I was assisted and treated with total respect. Great store and personnel. Bravo for a local business kicking butt on every level. Just the best! Showroom is full of equipment and the demo shelves full of radios that you can touch and test. Pricing is good. If you call and want anything shipped it goes out that day. If it isnt in this location, it will still ship from one of the other stores across the country the same day.

I placed my order for the VS-70M-AP Astron power supply on 10-30-20 and I recieved it on 10-31-20.Ptoduct packaging is over the top for shipping the power supply!! I can say I have purchased MANY HF rigs and have dealt with about everyone of the staff one on one. Tom, Paul, Gregg, KC, etc. and will say the time and care from this staff has been second to NONE. The shipping department has been absolutely flawless and immediate same day shipping and pushes those envelopes for perfection!!! They were great for testing but not open for buying.

Recently decided to acquire a new HT. Went to HROs website, placed my order and waited patiently. A day later, HRO called me to let me know my radio was on backorder and it may take awhile to arrive. Starting to go a little stir crazy from the quarantine, I got back on HROs website and found an open box HT that was an upgrade to the radio I had originally ordered. To be sure it was in stock, I called the Milwaukee HRO and spoke with Paul. Paul went above and beyond to not only make sure the radio was in stock by physically walking over to the table to check, but also helped me cancel my original order and got my new radio out the door SAME DAY.A few hours and one long conversation with a fellow ham later, I decided I actually no longer wanted the open box radio I had just ordered. So, called Paul, asked about return policy and ordered the new radio. Paul and the HRO crew got my new radio out the door same day too (for those keeping track, thats two radios, ordered 3 hours apart,, going out same day). Its now two days later and UPS is driving up my driveway to make a delivery. Thanks so much to Paul and the HRO team for their outstanding customer service!

Good service. I went in for a 2 meter antenna and a mount for a radio that was loaned to me. Before I went in I knew what I wanted and knew it was in stock. As a new ham I find it cool to see all the radios they have on the back wall. I would love to spend a day in there just turning dials and hearing all the QSOs going on.

This is the newest and flagship store of Ham Radio Outlet (HRO). Thay have a large stock of pretty much everything related to amateur radio. The store is clean and well organized. If youre in the Milwaukee area, its well worth a look.

The local ham store for us Chicagoans. I make the drive up here every so often on an annual pilgrimage. Been coming here since it was AES and the store is just as good now under the new ownership.

I purchased a Yaesu FTM-400XDR and an FT-70 in December 2018. I love these radios, especially the FTM-400. I was able to set the radio up in both a tractor trailer and in the car and it has worked flawlessly.I went into the store looking for a radio to use for APRS, but what I got ended up being that and much more.The service in the Milwaukee store is second to none and while they aren’t the closest HRO to me, I will gladly place phone orders with them if the need arises.They may not be right off of an interstate highway, but everything else makes that a non-issue. If your a DIY electronics person this is a good source for small gauge wire in low volume spools. They have 22AWG, 18AWG stranded hook up wire on 25ft spools.

Typically great customer service, but gets really annoying when the person on the phone huffs and puffs over changing an order. Not to be a jerk, but you chose to close your lobbies to walk-ins, which is all fine, but if you chose to do that, then please expect that people will have to do business and make order changes over the phone. Its a pain for your employees to edit orders, ok, fine, but its also a pain to order everything online.

HRO Milwaulee is the only place I will buy my Amateur Radio equipment. Great people, great prices, amazing place.
