We only had one afternoon to go out in Missoula and Bayern Brewery was the one place that piqued our interest enough to go (and stay for several hours). The trational German food and beers drew us in.We stayed with some appetizers: Gurkensalat (cucumber salad) and Udos Dragon Soup. The soup was out of this world delicious, even on a hot day. We only ordered a cup but we wish we had ordered the bowl; it was that good! The cucumber salad was good and refreshing but we had to ask for salt & pepper to take it up a notch. For entrees we got Brat in a Bun and Brat & Sauerkraut. Yep, we love brats!! Both were delicious especially the bun that the brat was in. Surprisingly we had to ask for the 6 sauces (which thankful I had read about online and knew to ask for).We tried all of their draft beers by ordering flights and some 16 oz glasses. We liked all the beers so much that it was hard to choose a favorite. One note of caution: they only have a brewers license so each guest is limited to 4 beers per visit. Fine but it wouldve been nice if they had told us this in advance and not when we were ordering our 5th beer. They have an outdoor patio which was spacious and inviting despite the smoky and hot weather. The staff went out of their way to inform us on our selections and make us feel welcomed. We are so happy with our decision to visit Bayern.
Always a solid stop when Im in town. Their beer styles are consistently nailed!
Absolutely phenomenal food and beer. Best meatloaf I’ve ever had. What a gem.
Meatloaf was incredible. Brews were solid. Schnitzel and shpatzel were pretty good.
Awesome service. I was hesitant on staying when I found out they don’t serve food on Sundays, but I’m glad I did. Their staff is super friendly and the beer is great! Reminder me of my time in Bavaria. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Missoula.
Bayern Brewing has such a laid back atmosphere, I feel at home the minute I walk in the door. I recommend Dragons Breath, its become my favorite beer.
Authentic German food. Great beer selection and wonderful service.
It was such a bummer that it rained otherwise it would have been the perfect day. The inside seating was at capacity so we had to sit outside, but, the servers were super nice and quick to help us. And the beer is always great from Bayern!
Great place. Beer was good as was the food. Highly recommend it
Only if you enjoy great German beer and food! The staff are all very knowledgeable and helpfulI highly recommend Bayern to anyone who wants to try traditional German.
Great service and fantastic beer, Dragons Breath was a winner!
The best especially if youre sick of how many IPAs are on every tap around the country!
Great brewery... great beer... awesome German food.
Reallt delicious slow pours ( pilsners) i would really recommend it to any beer enthusiast who appreciate the HOPS.Try the wiener schnitzel not greasy at all they do respect their customers.1000000/10
This was our first time here. Very good style of German beer. Very reasonable priced for their beers and food. The service was good and atmosphere had alot good locals. We found it interesting that local City Missoula laws only allow you 48 oz. Of beer to consume as a maximum per person. Odd but still enjoyable.
We were passing through Missoula and found this gem of a brewery.Between the two of us we had the Schwarzbier, Maibock, and Dragons Breath and were very satisfied with all three. True to German beers.Further satisfaction came with Edelweiss Bistro, the food was so good and the service was extremely warm and friendly. Will look forward to stopping in again when traveling through Missoula.
Chris is super friendly and helpful. The beer is good and the curry wurst was exactly what I missed from my days in Germany.
Great food and a big patio to enjoy the weather. Very friendly staff.
Brewery has gone out of its way to accommodate the new covid requirements. One of the few businesss I feel comfortable going to. I visited three businesss in town today, Bayern was the only ones enforcing the face mask requirements and keeping an extremely clean environment. I would feel safe bringing my family here for lunch or meeting up with my buddies for a few brews. Authentic German beer and cuisine (no compromises). If you dont like that, this might not be the place for you.
Five stars! Firstly as the beers I sampled are beautifully crisp and balanced, true to their flavour profile and completely moorish rather than busting you with overly extrovert flavour. I took away a six pack and a Montana born gentleman was super excited to see me drinking Bayern while we were in Idaho.Secondly, German food and snacks are almost always a win, especially with beer. But Bayern Brewing’s dishes were actually mega - sauerkraut, wurst, potato salad etc. all done really well. Personally I don’t love soup, but I ordered a side of the dragon soup and the first thing is thought was “death row meal”, that good. Should’ve got a big one to go. This is a glowing review because the beer and food were so good I would make this my local if I lived here. Great beer!
I was really impressed by Bayern. I got the Helles lager and also a Pilsner, I personally preferred the Helles and thought it was extremely well balanced, had good flavor, and not overpowering on malt or with any adverse flavors. The Pils was also great, again well balanced, more malty but that is typical of the style profile. I got the chicken schnitzel sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich was great, the fries were good but nothing unique so if I go back I would try one of the other sides they have to offer which looked great too.
Unfortunately we didnt stay. No dogs allowed in their outdoor seating....
Good beer good food
Its a weekly hangout for us, and I love everything about it. If it was nothing but food, it would still be great, but the craft brews put it over the top as the Last Best Place in the Last Best Place.
Food is good. Got our seats and waited to be served as the girls walked by us several times. Finally young man as if we had been waited on yet and I replied, you are the first person to talk to us. People sitting behind us came after us and were served and received drinks way before us
I love German beer and have enjoyed it here in the US and in Germany. I do not like leaving negative reviews for a brewery but appreciate other peoples candid reviews. The Pilsner and Marzen I sampled both had an oxidized, sherry sweet flavor that was not at all pleasant for the style of beer. Our waiter also charged us for an extra beer which I would assume was an accident but based on his response Im not so sure... Another negative were the short pours... each beer was shy 2-3 oz as shown in the picture below. Food was acctually quite good so 2 stars instead of 1.
OMG. the best beer in Missoula. If you like German food you will be dining here very frequently!
Our favorite brewery in Missoula. Make sure to try the Montana Gold. The bistro upstairs is also worth visiting. You won’t be disappointed!
Nice place. Not many choices available. Cool setting
The beer is excellent. Left with a case of beer! Servers were good and worked well together.
Great beer
This is where you get a Pilsner that’s actually worth drinking and some sausages actually worth eating. Have fun embarrassing yourself mispronouncing all the German words to your cute waitress, and if you do your homework on it she won’t be impressed either ;)
We love this place. Good beer and friendly service.
Extremely limited beer selection, all containing wheat. Condescending staff. Bland food. Do not recommend.
I mostly recycle my bottles there for .5 a piece... THANK YOU sooo much for doing that. Making awesome beer helps too...
Stopped by on our way to Flathead and had some amazing chicken schnitzel and great beers. Highly recommend!
Best place in town to meet new and interesting people. I even met my nephew there that renewed a long lost friendship. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows your name with lots of story telling. The employees are the greatest as is the food which is dished out. Try it and it will become you favorite place to hang out.
I love Bayern. Its probably my favorite hang-out brewery in Missoula. I always feel welcome here. They always remember me and my wife. They even remember my mom, and she lives in New York. Great, authentic people and great, authentic German beer and food.
Another great meal with great service, thanks Bayern!
The atmosphere in the Bistro was really nice and the food was good too (we ate upstairs). I would definitely recommend it! The prices are surprisingly low, and the service was great. I am a picky eater, and even I was able to find something. Give it a try.
Great beer. And the last Friday of every month they do a reuben sandwich on a house made pretzel bun that is legitimately one of the better sandwiches youll ever eat.
Great place and great people
Great traditional German brewery and restaurant.
Best brew in town. All their beers are delicious and the food is amazing German cuisine.
This brewery is one of my go to places when I come back and visit my hometown, but this last time I went I was so stoked to have dump truck ( it finally being in season) my favorite beer .. but the lady behind the counter kept trying and trying to pour a beer, walks away comes back and says the keg isn’t hooked up and I don’t know how to do it . I’m sorry but you shouldn’t work at a brewery if you can’t change Keg or hook one up . Sorry 😐
Great pretzels good service good tasting beer
The Dump Truck is DELICIOUS and the pretzels are fresh and light!
Super clean, disinfect every table. Great outside seating!
Nice place, clean, service excellent and so was the food. You can actually get German Bavarian style dinner and a beer here. The food is top quality and delicious (not bar food). Beers are good. The red was our favorite. If you like German Bavarian style beers and food... Put this on your list!
Good variety of beer styles, quite flavorful and refreshing. Their sauerkraut and brat is some of the best Ive ever had. Our family appreciated the variety of mustards since we are mustard geeks. Quiet and warm atmosphere. Service was friendly and fast. Was the perfect stop to warm up and relax after driving through the cold and misty mountains!
For all never ending of choice of Montanas best Micro Brews.this place is a must Awesome selection in House
Great beer especially the Dragons Breath, a Dark Heff Ale. We got a flight of 10 beers, and they were all great. We also ate but the food from Edelweiss was just so so. Eat somewhere else and have a cold local beer.
Its all good, but the Kasespatzle is the best.
Great beersGreat service
My experience with jurgen and crew Katie and all is always an overwhelming experience their professionalism theyre delighted attitudes show all you folks out there dont ever miss the opportunity to go to Bayern Montana
One thing I like about Bayern is the high quality beer. Another... is that I see the owner working hard in the back, and I see low employee turnover with the same faces. In my book that means they take care of people, and I like that.
Pleasant, comfortable atmosphere with an impressive variety of beer. As the name implies, all German styles. It very much feels like a German biergarten. Will definitely be back.
Great place to go have a beer.
The people working were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced for the amount that you got. I would highly recommend it.
A genuine brewery! Great beer, good bar and drinking room. I enjoyed the snacks, pretzels and salt, what else is there to know?
Love Bayern. The staff is great and the beers are cheap! They have wonderful food and are environmentally responsible to boot. Solid 5/7
Best brewery in MontanaSend me a hoodie
Clean, chill and comfortable. Cheers everyone
Great local German beer and friendly service. They have an amazing bottle recycling program that is super convinient. The food its yummy too, especially the meat and cheese board!
Always great beer. Have not been a beer drinker for a long time and this brewery is one of the first I discovered on my way to craft beers. Very well made tradional beer making going in here. Surprised to see the bistro in place, serving fantastic pretzels and some of the best saurkraut I have had in a long time. Interesting menu that encourages some exploration. Looking forward to trying other items as the Nuremberg sausages were excellent
Tap room is small and has a great atmosphere. The brewery can be seen from the tap room through giant windows. Food is okay but the beer makes up for it by far.
Great beer, food, atmosphere & staff. Edelweiss is the German restaurant upstairs & its such a great addition to the brewery! The outdoor patio is great to hangout on a nice day. Or if its a cool day, sit out by the fire
(Was in Edelweiss) The food was delicious, tasted like authentic German food. The beer was of course exceptional, as it should be. Customer service was wonderful. All around great place for beer and brauts!
Fantastic food and even better beer. If youre looking for a German style beer light or dark, you wont be disappointed.
My heart wasnt really in it after learning theu were sold out of ALL of their dark beers. But the location is beautiful and the bartender let me do his Sunday crossword puzzle. I will be back to try a dark beer.
Seriously! Its like going to your best friends house to hang out! Only this best friend has awesome beer and snacks!Friendly, always! Service is great! Thank you!
GET THE MAC AND CHEESE!! wow! Their food is great, beers are good too. No options for light beer but the hefeweizen is good.
Everything was great (food, beer, atmosphere). My only gripe would be that the server (who was very, very friendly) completely forgot our appetizer. We were the only guests in the place. But this wont affect my visiting Bayern again in the very near future.
Great German beers! We sat out on the upper patio, listening to a jazzy trio while we sipped some wonderful pilsners! What more could you ask for?
Absolutely the best Oktoberfest Ive ever had, too bad it wont be possible to get it when I go home.
Great beer, food, and beautiful, friendly staff! Thanks Rachel!
Enjoyed the deck on a warm September evening. Warm pretzels!
Great traditional German beer. Great service for getting said beer. Also has an awesome little bistro upstairs serving traditional German fare.
One of my favorite places in Missoula. Great beer, great food, great environment, great staff. And wifi. If only I could get more work done after 2 beers, I would be here hanging out more often.
Their beer is so good!
Love this place, great beer, good crowd, delicious food from the bistro upstairs.
When your website describes some of your beers as available in 6-packs, I was disappointed to find out that the smallest quantity available was by the case. You wont even let people mix and match 6-packs to create your own case. Not sure why this is but I recommend a little more flexibility as I would have bought more beer if this was the case. That being said, the two kinds that I tried (Dragons Breath and St. Wilbur Weizen) were very good and at a very reasonable price. $25 per case.
Best stop of our beer tasting tour of Montana! Excellent beer and even better service. Well be back for more Bat-Dad antics!
Great beer and good food.
Bayern makes some of the best beers in Missoula, but I would be negligent if I didnt say Kettle House and Big Sky make good beer too. My personal favorites are Dump Truck (summer) and Face Plant (winter), but all of their beers have admirable qualities.
Nice tasting room. Great patio. Interesting to watch the bottling through the window. Tasty beers and friendly people.
