Tommie answered the phone. His professionalism and empathy on the call was far greater than any car repair store and frankly any business I have called in many many years. I arrived at the store and was welcomed by Ann. This lady knows her stuff. She took me in and got the ball rolling. Tommie then hooked me up with the mechanic (Paul). Expect to get overcharged for poor quality work here. I took my truck in to get the transfer case replaced. After almost three weeks they finally told me I could come get my truck, so I turned in my rental car and got an Uber to the shop. Only to find out that they were missing some wiring and I wouldnt have four wheel drive until I got the part and wired it in myself. They tried to double charge me for labor and even tried to charge me for an electric shift motor that my truck doesnt have, so if I would have just trusted them they would have charged me an extra $1000. I could deal with that, but after spending over $6k I made it less than 10 miles before my transmission completely stopped working and I had to have it towed to my house since they had closed for the weekend. After I got it home I looked at the wiring and they obviously didnt know what they were doing. They have one wire running from the back of the transfer case to absolutely nothing up under my dash, like the wires are just hanging there. So after $6k, two tows, and three weeks of rental charges, I still cant drive my truck. So I guess I have to take it to another shop to fix their mistakes..

I had a great experience with the guys at AAMCO. Huge shout to William and Tommie. Yesterday, I had gone to another store where I got quoted for $518 for the repairs I needed. I was so upset as I am a college student, and don’t make much money. I called AAMCO and talked with William who gave me a quote for less. I came in and they really, really took care of me. Tommie walked me out to my car and took the time to show and explain to me what exactly was wrong so I could understand. I’ve never had a mechanic do that, so I felt much better about it overall, and comfortable with the guys doing the work. I would recommend them to anyone, but especially college students. Thank you guys for the work.

Im in the MS/AL area for training and had an issue with my truck. Having prior service done at AAMCO in Florida I researched to find the closest location to me. I made the phone call and Ms Ann (receptionist) scheduled me an appointment the next business day. Upon arrival, the staff of Ann, Tiffany, and Tommie (Mgr) was there to assist me with my needs. Prior to performing the services that my vehicle required, Tommie physically showed me the issue at hand on my truck. He talked me through exactly what was causing the issue. I can honestly say that I have NEVER experienced such high-quality customer service in my lifetime. I would make the 2 hour round-trip without hesitation if I had future vehicle maintenance needs. Hands down 5 star treatment. Highly recommend for any vehicle services that you may encounter. The provide bumper to bumper service and the honesty is through the roof. I was involved in each step of this service. Kudos to this crew as it all starts from their manager who leads by example. Fabulous group of guys who analyzed my car and told me what steps I needed to take in order to correct the problem. I didnt know how serious it was until one of the mechanics told me he could not allow me to drive my car any further. They were concerned about my safety and the wellbeing of my children. On 1/26/21 I was searching for a repair shop that could rebuild my engine in my 1971 Cadillac Coupe Deville. I had purchased the car in WA And Never Really Driven It To Preserve the 15,000 miles it had on it. I was planning to build a lowrider out of this car and pass it down to my son (hes 2yo right now...) as his first car.I found a shop called Aamco Transmission on Google and contacted them. I first spoke with a guy named William and he told me that he could have it running like new. When I initially asked how much it would cost to rebuild my engine, William quoted me $6900.00. I informed William That amount was out of my budget. William then stated that he did not want to take all the money I had so he would see if he could drop the price down. He later stated that the best he could do to make the job more affordable for me would be to only pay 6102.49. He informed me and provided a receipt showing that 1799.00 would be for the break down and machining of my engine. 3799.00 would be for the assembly and parts of the engine and that the entire Rebuild would take about 6-8 weeks to complete. Its been 6 months and my car is still not finished and theyre asking for more money to release my car. When I attempted to retrieve my vehicle yesterday at the shop, William interjected and was being rude to me and my spouse, using profane language in front of my kids and and other customers. William stated if I do not pay him the new balance of $1598.74, that I was trespassing and he would contact law enforcement. Then William stated he would put a mechanics lien on my property starting on Monday if I do not pay the new balance of 1598.74. I explained to William that I did not agree to pay that much more money and that I didnt feel as though I was breaking any laws so I didnt have a reason to leave yet. William then called law enforcement and described me as a black male with dreadlocks and my spouse as a black female attempted to have me trespassed but the policesaid that was a civil matter and they could not do anything I would have to go to court an file a lawsuit against Aamco. At this moment, I feel this is becoming a racially motivated situation. I did not intend for it to go this far yesterday, I just wanted my property back. I Had To Wait nearly a whole week after these events took place to get my car and when they finally released the car to me I was told my gear shifter was broken, which wasnt broken before when I dropped the car off, they said they were going to charge me to fix something that they broke... I Called Their CORPORATE Office And Filed A Complaint But Because They Are A Franchise Shop, They Were Able To Get Away With Everything And I Ended Up Paying Almost $8,000 for What They Quoted Would Only Cost Around 6,000... and they didnt even do it the way I told them I wanted it. Now I have to either DEAL WITH IT, Or Pay Someone Else To Do What They Shouldve Do Right From Day One.... Never Ever Ever Ever Going Back Or Referring Anyone To Go Here.

After being told by other name brand shops it was this and that spending so much money to still not have the part fixed on my car. I came here and they told me exactly what it was and showed me what it was and were very nice and honest with me about what it was that was wrong with my car I love this place I’m very happy I found my new shop I will be using.

I would love to say that AAMCO Transmission is a wonderful place to take your car I had a problem with my light coming on saying that I needed fluid for my air conditioning come to find out it was only my radiator cap they replaced it that day I only had to pay just a small amount for the cap and taxes. That was my third time doing business with them. I went to AAMCO transmissions for my 2011 F150 6 speed transmission that was downshifting at random and not shifting into gears while in drive. I brought it in from Foley and I was helped by Mrs. Ann who answered the phone and schedules and then Mr Tommie the Shop Manager they told me a price on a high end for a lead mold frame of $900-$1100 I brought the truck in for a proper diagnosis and Mr. Tommie called me personally to tell me the prognosis it was the lead mold frame. I got a phone call back later that day that my truck was ready and for less than was originally quoted! Just $679! SO since I had budgeted for the worst I got a tune up which brought my total to $1159.00. I then had a problem with a bent rim a few days later after the hurricane and they all at the shop Mr. Tommie, Mrs Ann, and Owner Mr, Scott helped me with a new spare tire that I could not afford otherwise. They treat me like family and dont push anything extra that you dont need. Its honestly and everyone there Mr. Tommie, Mrs Ann, Mr. Scott, Ms Tiffany, Mr John are all great people and I will be going back to them on a regular bases since Im on the road all the time. If I could give 10 stars I would, but since I cant all I can do is tell you that theses are the people you trust and work with especially if you are like the majority of Americans on a budget.

I am new to Mobile and did not have my go to place for vehicle issues. My 2012 Jeep needed attention recently. As it involved checking my transmission fluid level I quickly discovered that most places will not do this if your vehicle does not have a dip stick. Mine doesnt. So I was told to go to the dealer or a transmission shop. I found that Aamco was near my location and had very good reviews so I went there. Their place was crowded with cars and trucks but I still gave it a try. Everyone I came into contact with was fabulous. My Jeep did have a rather significant issue but I totally trust these people with my vehicle after only one visit. I plan to return there when I need anything vehicle related. They can do it all...not just transmissions. They have a comfortable waiting area, very nice and knowledgeable employees who try very hard to explain what the problem is with the vehicle as well as the solution and take away the stress of the situation. I couldnt ask for more. Thank you so much!!!!!

This was my first experience with AAMCO on Hillcrest (Mobile, AL). It was a great one!! My car began to malfunction unexpectedly. I went to the lobby, talked to Ann. She was polite and acknowledged me when I walked in the door. She was super busy but worked me in while multitasking. I left and waited for a phone call from someone with the status of my car. William called and told me everything that was wrong with my car, told me my options, gave me finance options, and patiently waited while I took a few hours to figure out how I was going to pay for my car. William worked with me to get a price I could afford so I could pay and get my car back that day! When I got back to the shop to get my car, Tommy showed me the damage that had occurred and gave me tips about how to identify issues in the future. They were all professional, candid, and quick. I plan to revisit for future services!

Auto repair like auto repair ought to be done. Bare bones, straightforward solutions without all of the pomp and fluff too commonly seen these days. I would especially recommend them if you have an older model vehicle that just needs some honest-to-goodness fixing. They are willing to talk with you and work with you to get any problem solved. They are extremely kind people who know their customers by name. They made what could have a been a very expensive and downtrodden situation into a covered and friendly experience. Tommie provided us with an honest opinion on our transmission. They directed us to Honda as our vehicle was still under warranty for that particular issue. Tommie took the time to explain to me exactly what was going on with the vehicle and what needed to be done correctly. You can’t find such a friendly and professional staff elsewhere. I went for the first time to Aamco and I have to say that it was amazing. They dont try and sell you anything that you dont need. I had a loud humming noise in my car and they checked it on the machine front to back top to bottom and said that that was just how the car was and in Reading Forums on Buicks, they were right. They told me my car needed nothing. That I was good to go. They filled my tires. I paid nothing. Tommy the assistant manager was wonderful. I would highly highly recommend this place to everyone. Its not everyday that you find kindness and honesty like Aamco on Hillcrest. While I was there I spoke to a lot of people that have brought their cars there and they said the same thing. They treat you like family.

They used to be great, but they are absolutely terrible now. Avoid at all cost.Brought my car in because the radiator fan was not working, and the car overheated. Specifically told them that the issue was the radiator fan. Three times they told me throughout the week that the radiator fan is fine (because I would ask are you SURE that its fine? anytime theyd call. They tried to talk me into replacing the A/C condenser ($1200) because the A/C was not blowing cold at idle (which was, in actuality, the result of the radiator fan being out). They fixed the damage caused by overheated (damaged belt, radiator cap) and I pick up the car. They charged me for a thermostat replacement ($300) that I specifically told them NOT to replace as I had done that myself already. I then leave, get stuck in Hillcrest traffic and my car overheats. Pop the hood, the radiator fan isnt working. On top of that, the car is squealing like mad because of the belt that they put on incorrectly.Bring it back up there, it takes a week for them to look at it again. What do you know? The radiator fan needed to be replaced. It turns out they were looking at the wrong car when they told me that mine was working. On top of that, they had my car in their system with +100k miles and reports of bringing it in when I hadnt, so Im guessing someone entered the wrong car information to my account. Ann, the secretary, who is seemingly the only one with any competence there, waived the install fee and just charged me for the part. But I get my car back, and its squealing worse than it did before. So now I have to take it to another mechanic to fix the misaligned or improperly installed belt.They were my go to for 5-10 years but I will not be back and recommend to avoid this place like the plague.

I have been here three times over the past few months with a 2006 Impala SS. I have had an engine mount replaced, four new tires and an idler assembly and serpentine belt replaced. There are a few things I appreciated about the experience:1) consistent experience each visit2) They do what they say they will do, in the time-frame promised within the price estimated3) They perform diagnostics, in some cases, at no charge. For example, I thought I had a transmission issue and they performed diagnostics at no charge.4) The owner is on site and walks around checking on things.5) They contact you a few days after the service by email to make sure you had a good experience6) They use quality OEM parts without you having to ask them to do so.I do not have any financial, family or personal interest with these folks, and this is an independent review based on my personal experiences with the shop. Important to share my experience for those trying to find a shop with integrity and quality. I recommend them across the spectrum of honesty, integrity, service, performance, quality and value. D.B.

3 stars because, there is a set of sketch artist here. Ive gone here several times because their price is cheapest (but still not cheap) fixing wheel bearings. So my first experience this guy tries to sell the basement and I just let him know he has to stop, I just want what I want and nothing more, than when I got in my car all the dashboard lights were on (they werent before) so I had to get them back in the car. And actually the mechanic tried to lie about it but I shut that down. I actually asked them if they were going to fix it or just pull the fuse out to make the lights go off. They were just real shifty. Then the 2nd time (the same problem), not too bad, the 3rd time the price was up about 200 bucks! I brought my receipts from last time tho and told the lady up front, then she says let me see what I can do then magically the price went ack down to a few dollars higher than the price for the first one. The mechanic on this last trip was cool, I felt like he knew his stuff and was honest. The reason Im saying all this is because they are very shady here. If you dont know about cars they ARE going to at least try to rip you off. I heard them on the phone doing it and they tried to do it to me more than once. And I hate saying this, but the lady up front is there to make you comfortable and they use her to help get you. Its just real shady here I dont recommend it if you dont know about cars really. You go for a new tire and all of a sudden you need a new engine 🤔

I noticed a screw that appeared lodged in the driver side rear tire. We drove the car to them and asked if they could plug it. They looked at it; the screw head had not broke through the tread. They showed us the screw head after they removed it. They didnt charge us for the inspection. Thanks!

Horrible service. My AC was blowing hot air for about two weeks so me and my grandma went here because she had used them in the past. We ended up sitting there for almost three hours, and they were unable to fix the issue. A man was helping us, maybe he was the manager, Im not sure. He told me he would give me a call back when he was able to find the part that he needed in order to fix my car. Two days pass and I still havent heard anything, so I call and the same guy tells me that he is still looking to see if the part is somewhere local, but if not he will call me back tomorrow and we will go ahead with an order from the manufacture. He never called me back. A week has gone by now. All they did was waste our time. Obviously they do not care about customer service or generating business. Would definitely not recommend.

I went with AAMCO because they had good reviews. I recently moved to mobile and I don’t have a reliable mechanic. Adam was the person to quote me and walk me through the work that was to be performed. I went in for rear brakes repair and also asked them to check out the car for any other issues. The mechanics supposedly found a leak in my rack and pinion (even though I never had to replace power steering fluid) and also said I needed a cv joint on the drivers side. I also had them repair my rear struts because my suspension was bad. Adam seemed like a respectable gentleman so I let them do the work even though the quote was a bit high. High reviews I was expecting good quality work and parts which is what I was willing to pay for. The work cost me over $3000. 2 days later I had fluid leaking from under my car. Called AAMCO and they couldn’t see me that day but said to come back first thing in the morning. I went first thing in the morning and had to wait over an hour to hear what was wrong with my car. It was a leaking seal from the transmission where the axle meets the transmission. I was then informed that it would cost me a further $300 to repair this issue that was a direct issue from careless parts replacement by the mechanic. Unhappy with this answer I called the owner Scott McKean and told him what happened and that I was unsatisfied. He called me back and said he would have everything taken care of for $100. I wasn’t entirely pleased with having to pay anything more but I agreed to pay if they would take care of it. This was 4 days ago and I haven’t heard back from them since. No repairs made. No concern for me or my car. They simply wanted to get as much money from me as possible. I took my car to another mechanic in town and found out they used basic auto parts from advanced auto and then carelessly replaced the parts. My car was left with oil on the roof and all of my belongings on the back dash were thrown to the rear floorboard. I am entirely unhappy with my experience and advise anyone who is thinking of using these “parts changers” go to a real mechanic who genuinely cares.

Very honest and straight forward business. I dont hesitate to send my wife or daughters in for repairs. They wont do the work with out discussing it with you first. Never any unpleasant surprises.

I had bought a set of tires from aamco, I brought my truck in for rotation and balancing after 9 months, and Ann caught a wear issue on one of my tires. She said it would take a while,but I would get my$ I forgot about,checked the mail Saturday....acjeck for135.30. Aamco, the way to go

The mechanic went above and beyond to make sure my car was perfect before letting me leave for a road trip. I get reminder notices so I dont forget that regular service needs to be done. Theyre wonderful!On a side note, the disgruntled customers trying to make this establishment look bad cannot be telling the truth, because Aamco never does work that isnt authorized by me or anyone else I know that uses them. Isnt it funny how all the bad comments were made within a day of each other. They are obviously liars.

Okay so just let me tell y’all how amazing these ppl are here at AAMCO!!!! So one night I was working and out of no where my car started making these squeaking noises,,, wouldn’t shut up🙄🙄 I’m a girl okay so No I’m not gonna know what it is, so I called my dad and he said it was probably my brakes and my rotor,,, welll😬🤣 i knew he wouldn’t be able to fix it within a day and I needed my car fixed ASAP so I went to AAMCO and they took me in W/O any questions and helped me out and had me in n out within a few hours 😍😍👌 These ppl have been such a huge blessing to me,, I will always come here ☺️

Not because I even went there for service. I have no idea what their service is like.However, being experienced with fixing my own car, I diagnosed my window motor problem on my own. I dont have the tools to do it on my own at the time, so I called them asking for an estimate which I was refused over the phone. They wouldnt even give me a labor cost estimat . The only good thing here is that they told me I could bring it by and have it diagnosed for free (however long the diagnosis Ive already made would take).

My go to shop. Close to the house, friendly, and Ann is hilarious! The owner is a Jeep guy so that is another plus.

Went for an oil change. They went above and beyond checking out my car. Checked my tires for wear, rotated tires and made sure correct pressure, which I cant do myself. All fluids filled. Will go back.

I went there and ask them to give me a quote on a part that was broken on my car they said they would have to test drive it put it on the rack have their mechanic look at it and then they would be able to give me a quote on that part broken and any other part they found broken basically giving them permission to fix anything on my car giving them permission on an open check charge me whatever they want even when I showed him the broken part he said that wasnt the way they do business they have to test drive the car put it on the rack have their mechanics look at all of it mechanical Parts on the car to make sure there was nothing else wrong with my car and that was the only way they did business so if you have an unlimited source of income and you feel that you need all your parts replaced on your car this is the place to go

Wow, Scott was spectacular! As the owner of this AAMCO, he not only was extremely friendly, he gave us great customer service. The car that was in the shop was my parents but if other AAMCOs are like Scotts, hes made an AAMCO continued customer out of me!!!
