Great shop! Wide selection of camping, backpacking, rock climbing, and other outdoor gear. We rented 2 pairs of XC skis for 3 days and paid only $50 total. The owners, Heather and Bryan, were super helpful and friendly. They gave us a map of the area and shared recommendations for restaurants and local outdoors spots.

Friendly staff and great prices! Their sock selection is the best and you get a free pair for every 5 you buy. They also have all the little things you need for camping that will make your trips so much easier. And their gear selection is also top notch. Seriously a great store to shop at for everyone!

Highly recommend this place! Being from Indiana, it’s difficult to find knowledgeable people on boots for the “extreme” outdoors, and Lauretta has so much information to provide. She’s about finding you the right boot and pointing you in the right direction, not just for profit. She’s agreeable and the store is all-around fantastic.

Wonderful experience, could not recommend more strongly. Lauretta has extensive knowledge about ski gear and repair and clearly knows a lot about the surrounding areas. Throughout my personal experience there I heard her giving a level of information about the surrounding areas that only a local outdoor expert would know.I brought an AT setup that I had bought used in to Lauretta at Hyperspud. She went absolutely above and beyond to help me get this ski up and running. The person I bought them from was dishonest about the amount of work necessary, Lauretta was very honest about my options. I originally brought them in for a remount and tune up, when Lauretta found out she didn’t have the necessary parts to fix the ski she offered to tune them up and refund all of my money, even though she had already done quite a bit of work. On top of that, she offered to let me borrow a set of her personal skis since mine weren’t functional.This level of service is exemplary and so rare to find. In the end, Lauretta was nice enough to agree to keep my skis for as long as it takes to order the parts and fix the skis, at no extra charge even though she is doing a lot more work than originally estimated.I would highly recommend working with this business if you ever have the opportunity, I wouldn’t go anywhere else after this experience.Thank you very much Lauretta and the Hyperspud crew!

Youll want to get your outdoor gear here (and maybe a fashionable Prana piece, too)! Spend about the same at Hyperspud as you would online or at other sports retail outlets, but get MUCH better customer service. At times, there may only be one or two people in the store, but if you need to be confident you are getting exactly what you need, its worth hanging out to chat with their awesome staff.I bought a Marmot rain jacket at Hyperspud years ago. Since then, Ive had it relined once (with the included Marmot replacement warranty). I took it to get lined again, as the lining had worn out again. I noticed this, of course, right at the start of the rainy season (why didnt I check it in the summer?).Marmot had changed their warranty process for Hyperspud, so they called and told me it would be a really long time before I could have my rain jacket back.So, they offered to let me exchange one or equal value in the store or just the pay the difference if I wanted a more expensive brand! I ended up getting a different brand that has a longer-lasting lining.It was all easy and no hassle.I always really like going into Hyperspud. Its a great place to find gifts for outdoor enthusiasts as well.

I have had a few poor experiences at Hyper Spud. I would love to support the small scale, locally owned business; but unfortunately the last few times Ive been, Ive left in frustration. First of all, I had a hiking trip this past summer that I really wanted lightweight hiking pants for. The store was out of the pants I wanted, so they got my name and put me on a list to be contacted with the status of my pants within the next few days. A week and a half went by, and I still hadnt heard back. When I called back, I found out that not only were my pants not even available to order within the next couple months, but they had also completely forgot to call me to inform me (they claimed the sticky note reminder must have been lost).Secondly, I had asked for another special order and the owner Loretta said she would order it the next day. I called a week later and she hadnt even placed my order yet! She said I was better off to order it through Amazon or somewhere else. Had I known she wouldnt have even attempted to place my order and lied about the fact that she would, I wouldnt have even bothered to try to support Hyperspud.My warning to fellow shoppers interested in Hyperspud, be leery about any so called list theyll put you on. You never get called back and they arent going to inform you whether or not a product has come in or if it can even come in on time.Aside from the negative experiences Ive had (specifically with the owner), the other employees are great and they do offer high quality products. The staff is also very helpful answering questions and can give thorough explanations.

Just rented some x-country skis from Hyperspud for a friend to use for a week, and as usual, their gear and their expertise were excellent! Ive been buying outdoor gear and clothing from them for 25 years now, and they consistently sell high quality gear and clothes which they back up with great service and warranties. Theyre also THE place for advice when youre trying to decide where to go outdoors. Were lucky to have a store like this on the Palouse!

Small but great store. The staff is very knowledgeable. The only downside is if you wear a common size dont expect to find it mid to end of season.

As a wildlife/forestry professional, land steward, and hunter, I spend almost every day in boots and hiking up to 25 miles a day 90% of my hiking is off-trail. My boots not only have to go through a lot and be durable, but they also have to fit me perfectly and remain comfortable for miles and miles. Thats where Lauretta at Hyperspud comes in! She knows footwear better than anyone Ive ever met, and in the rare occasion when she doesnt have the exact answer to your questions, she digs until finds the answer (and then some) for you! Outside of footwear, the shop has a great selection of backpacking and climbing gear, with knowledgeable folks to help you make informed decisions. I never felt pressured to purchase from them, but I found myself being extremely glad that thats what Ive decided to do. Definitely the most helpful shop in the whole clearwater region! I will most certainly be back the next time I need boots or advice!

Ive never had a bad experience here... somewhat small-town-ish way of doing business, has its positive and negative aspects. Ive bought a few large ticket items, and countless small things. They have a great inventory, and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Good business ethic Id say.
