Really interesting crystals, but the snake there is being neglected and the workers obviously don’t care about its health. you can tell just by looking at the enclosure it’s in that it’s there simply to look cool. there are no hides or places for the snake to hide away if it wants to and no heating element. that’s neglect. please, don’t shop here and support people who obviously don’t care about the well being of their shop pet. snakes are living animals too.

I loved this place, the snake and dog were awesome and so cutee, the problem was the guy checking me out did not really know his crystals. He charged me 7.00 for a 10¢ Crystal, I was only stressed because I didn’t buy this crystal online so I didn’t have to spend $7 on it. In my opinion you should know crystals if you work there. Its my fault for not checking my receipt before leaving though. They had a great selection too

Great unique little place. I got some stones created into pieces of jewelry. Reasonable low prices. Quick work. Very kind and helpful workers. If you want to repair or custom make jewelry, high recommend here.

Love this store! The staff is always so friendly and helpful every time I come in. Jasper, Jean and Sophie helped my friends and I for over an hour with patience and were extremely helpful with meeting our needs. We got several rings because of their great customer service! Will definitely be back because of the service and great atmosphere they provide.

I go here often because I go to WSU. All of my most favorite jewelry pieces are from here! Everything has been resized and fits perfect now. I’ve brought a ring that I wear every day in twice to be fixed (not their fault at all I genuinely wear it 24/7 it was bound to happen) and they fixed it for free each time. They even strengthened it with white gold for free! I also asked for the same thing with a ring I was getting resized after buying it so I didn’t have to go bother them with yet another worn through ring and they added it no extra cost. The staff even made a pair of earrings into 2 necklaces so a friend and I could match. Best part is it was their suggestion and it was genius! Whenever a friend is in from out of town I take them here because it is SUCH a cool little local spot.

I am in Idaho visiting family from Nevada and stopped into this shop for the first time yesterday. I am an avid rockhounder, primarily in Nevada but also Idaho and the other western states. This shop has a really nice selection of fossils, minerals, crystals and jewelry. They had me right up until I saw the rattlesnake in that horrid enclosure. I love and respect rattlesnakes. I have encountered them on my folks ranch in Idaho as well as out in the Nevada desert rockhounding. So I know a tad about rattlesnake habitat and I call bs on the prior responses this shop has given others who have expressed concern about Buddy. I get that Buddy can’t ever be released into the wild and he will need live mice to sustain life but that enclosure is nothing but a gimmick and this shop has lost all respect I had for it. What a shame. Buddy is not even remotely in anything resembling his natural habitat. The rattlesnakes I have encountered weren’t laying on saucers of gemstones packed like sardines in a display case! I can’t wait to read the response I get! A way better shop choice would be Golden Arts Jewelry on Snake River Ave in Lewiston where they have fantastic minerals and beautiful jewelry for sale, excellent jewelry repair and best of all no smarmy circus attractions!

I was visiting from out of state and needed my wedding band repaired.To my surprise and delight, not only did they get the job done, but it was done well.I was able to pick it up the following day. I am very impressed by the customer service I received.Very cool store too!

I am such a fan of Gem State! Ive bought beautiful jewelry there, and the staff is always fantastic! I have an oval aquamarine ring that gets loads of compliments, even on Zoom (I talk with my hands), and also found my favorite prasiolite earrings there. Not only have I bought wonderful jewelry and learned more about semiprecious gems (hello apatite!), but Ive had several rings sized (including that aquamarine) & one artisan drilled a Herkimer crystal for me & added silver findings so that I could make a necklace (thanks, Jean!) Id be there ever weekend if I could.

I always stop through whenever I get a chance to visit the area. This shop has been locally owned for as long as I can remember. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Looking forward to making another visit.

Went in a while ago and saw a rattlesnake in a case with sharp geodes and no water. I have not been in the store since as that made me extremely upset and uncomfortable. There in no reason a snake of any kind should be in an enclosure such as that.

I took my ring to be sized and when it was returned, the chalcedony stone had been refaceted so it looked even better than when I purchased the ring 8 or 9 years ago. It is beautiful and I love it; and it fits! I couldnt be happier with the service there. Fabulous collection of gems and minerals. They take pride in what they offer and their craftsmanship.

I make it a point to come to this amazing rock shop every time I am back in Moscow.This past time I had a giant turquoise ring that needed resized and only had a few days before I was flying back to Chicago —— Sophie helped me and was so accommodating and knowledgeable and went way above and beyond to make this crazy huge antique ring of mine fit me perfectly!The prices are super fair and reasonable and the staff really knows what they are talking about. Sophie especially takes extra time to talk you through the process and make sure you are happy with the product.Definitely a must visit in Moscow.

Friendly staff (and store puppy), we were looking for gem cutting and/or cost to set. Staff said they dont actually appraise gems but can give a rough estimate of the value. They can cut and polish stones but not as much with the multi-faceted gems (sapphires, etc) but more smoother cuts/polishing stones (especially garnets/star garnets). Decent selection but stock purchased annually...

I could spend hours in here... One of the best local shops in Moscow & Pullman. All of their minerals, gemstones and jewelry pieces are so unique. Their prices are very fair; theyve sized my rings, bracelets and even made a necklace pendant for me. If you find something you like but want to change it, they do custom orders as well!

My grandmother accidentally dropped her wedding ring in the garbage disposal and by the time we pulled it out it looked pretty rough. Gem State had it looking as good as new within a day. Their prices are excellent, their service was compassionate, and they fixed it fast.

Most knowledgeable gem expert in Idaho! They have specimens of everything Ive ever heard of and more. This is the only true full service jewelry store Ive ever found. Totally unlike a chain box store or mall jewelry outlet. This guy actually knows what hes talking about. Just ask for Billy if you want to know anything about gems or crystals, hes very friendly and knowledgeable.

She listened carefully to my ideas, looked at pictures I brought in, and talked me through the process of designing the ring. I trusted her with the diamonds I provided that were very sentimental and important to my family. She created a beautiful ring that looks exactly like the one I dreamed about and she turned my ideas into reality. On top of that, she did all this careful, skillful work at a very fair price. I am incredibly pleased with my experience at Gem State and would recommend them to anyone looking for a unique and customer-tailored experience, whether youre buying something from their exotic in-shop selection or having something designed by hand. Gem State Crystals was always one of those mysterious shops I would pass by in high school, never really knowing if I should enter, or just save an adventure for another day. However, rain checks can only be bounced so many times, so I finally went in as a twenty-something, taking in all it has to offer...From the friendly staff, to the fantastic fossils, the gleaming jewelry and specimens, to the illustrious rattlesnake Buddy, this shop truly is a gem of the Moscow downtown. Since entering, I’ve been in more times than I can count, as it has become one of my favorite spots to stop in when I’m around the area. It’s my go-to happy place when I want to marvel at the moonstone and malachite, try on some lavish lapis lazuli rings, or simply say howdy on a rough day. Was in today, looking to purchase some lovely earrings. We noticed a live mouse in one of the cases, and also noticed the live snake in the same case.The products are lovely and the staff was nice and helpful, but we couldnt in good conscience purchase from a shop that fed live animals and kept a wild animal in such captivity.

I went in to this shop in January while I was visiting family and needed a ring repaired, they were extremely nice and said they were able to fix my ring doing an underwater weld and I got the ring back very quick and it looked beautiful. I was there with my boyfriend of over three years and we also were looking for an engagement ring we found the perfect ring that fit us and were going to come back for it. He passed away a week later when we were in an extremely bad car accident. My sister picked up the ring for me and it is my prized possession. I really means the world to me. Not even 5 months later the ring I had repaired snaped in the same spot and now 8 months later the other ring has broken in three pieces as I was drying my hands. I do wear them at all times but are not rough what so ever as I am now disabled from the accident and can barely use my right arm. I am extremely disappointed, upset, and heartbroken even more because of this. And am out of town and unable to speak to this company in person. I was annoyed but not upset about the first ring but the second has me extremely upset.

This place has so many things to look at and through I could have spent all day perusing the wares. Unfortunately I was on a time crunch but they had something perfect for a secret santa present.
