Such a wonderful experience all around! Good portion sizes and prices. You must order the crispy potatoes - better than any fried potato you’ll ever have. The little gem salad is so crave worthy, with a killer dressing. And then - do not miss the soft cream and mochi cake! We had sweet corn soft cream with the miso caramel. Heavenly.
Miminashi is closing, you guys. I have eaten here a smattering of times since they opened, and everything Ive had is delicious. I especially loved the various grilled izakaya meats, as they are all cooked to perfection. The bar rolodex is also a sight to behold, with any kind of fancy cocktail that you can imagine. I will especially miss the ice cream window. Thanks for many years of good eats!
Went there for dinner, food was ok, pricier than what it’s worth, service can be improved, didn’t try their soft serve ice cream, people seem to line up for it tho. I’d stay clear of their stone fruit salad and tuna tar tar, very average. Origini was overcooked, too hard on the outside. Skewers were average, not spiced in any note-worthy ways.pluses: nice decor, and their water boy was very attentive.
10/5. Amazing. I would come back again. Great service and the food is fantastic. Their mai tais are the best. The crispy potatoes are amazing, chicken katsu was juicy as hell, everything was perfect and fast.
Love everything about this place. The design is warm and well thought out. The service was friendly and balanced with not toomuch attention, yet attentive. The food was fantastic! The spicy miso ramen did not disappoint, nor did the romanesco cauliflower. We sat in front of the street style bbq bar, and the wood fire was nice and warm since it was raining outside. I thought the price point was fair and on par with that caliber of restaurant.
Absolutely the best ramen we’ve had! So clean and fresh tasting. Extremely well balanced. Shrimp and black cod was incredible. Can’t say enough good things. Go and thank me later
An outstanding Japanese-focused gem of a restaurant in downtown Napa. The food and service are great, and their wine list is interesting. A couple of things that set them apart are their sommelier with an expertise in their fine selection of sakes, and their homemade ice creams - during their off hours, they serve at a window - that are invariably delicious. Miminashi is a pretty live space in terms of noise, so while you wont get a quiet, Auberge du Soliel kind of experience, what you will get is some mighty fine victuals and potables.
We had a spectacular experience. We did the chefs tasking menu and we were overwhelmed with the quality of food and service. The sake pairing was a lovely addition.I loved the grilled mushrooms from the grill and my husband’s couldn’t pick a favorite from all the fun things we ate.The staff was knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the dishes and any specific recommendations on how to beat enjoy them.We will be back next time we are in town.
Amazing!!!!The waiters were very warm, knowledge and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious. The manager came over to check on us. She was very warm and friendly. I love how the menu changes with what is fresh and available. My husband and I had an amazing experience.
The omakase served up a good selection of the menu and provided a group of 6 guys with slightly more food than they could finish! Starts off more vegetable focused in the begining, progresses to more meat, seafood, then some starches. Would definitely come back again.
Friendly service and great food. Good choices on every section of the menu, will go back for the sashimi and soft serve.
Stopped here after dinner in downtown Napa. We had various ice creams with toppings. This is definitely the best spot to satisfy your sweet tooth after any meal in the area. Will definitely return and recommend.
Perfect Japanese restaurant. Staff was phenomenal, nice ambiance, delicious food, and pretty reasonably priced. Had the seaweed salad, green garlic fried rice, oyster chicken yakitori, and scallops. Everything was delicious. Scallops were really amazing but at $30 for 3 large scallops probably wouldn’t get again just cause of the price. Soft cream is a must have for dessert.
So awesome! Well my Chef buddy and I had a great time and cuisine here! Youd have to be in the mood for this type of food, meaning its not burgers or tacos... Definitely worth a visit!
Amazing food, service, ambiance. I have been here multiple times and have always had a fantastic experience. Their corkage fee is waived if you purchase an additional bottle from their wine list. Lots of good local selections there also. Plus the soft serve! OMG
Good food and service. Note that this is not a sushi restaurant! Ambiance was nice
Fantastic food. Perfect for a light bite or full dinner. Menu changes frequently using seasonal ingredients. Vegetarian friendly menu.Recommendation: the soft serve. Unique flavors every week served right out of a to go window. Bye bye diet
Interesting and diverse menu I would describe as more or a small plate tapas menu. Several kabobs and minimal sashimi, no nigiri sushi as one may expect. I enjoyed the service at the bar and tried several items on the menu. I will recommend and return. Leave your preconceptions of a sushi bar at the door.
Really was surprised by Miminashi. It was a last minute decision to go but the food was great. The Salmon sashimi was just beautiful! We added the scallop fried rice and hanger steak ans left very impressed with the experience.
I took my wife here for her birthday dinner, we hadnt been there yet. I as usual had to work late but the were open until 10pm so great choice... It was pretty good. I enjoyed the meal and the service was good. However it was a bit pricey. I think all in all its a nice place.
The food here is very good. I would definitely come here again because of our experience the 1st time around. Highly recommend!!
Arrived with a large group and they immediately began to serve. Incredible Bar. Plenty of Napa Wines. Try the sauces on the meat. Dessert was delicious.Nice decor, polite service, linen cloth.
This was a superb culinary experience in every possible way. The menu, the atmosphere and the staff were amazing.
One of the best meals I have had, and THE best meal for money. Service is incredible and the food is absolutely killer. Do yourself a favor and go Omakase so the chefs and staff can show off. Shout out to Jim for my favorite part of my Napa trip.
Amazing cocktail selection with a unique, warm, and fun energy. I recommend sitting at the bar.
Really great dining experience. Servers were friendly and knowledgable and the atmosphere is vibrant and warm. Delicious food and lots of it for the money, James (trainee manager) went above and beyond to help us get back to our resort and ensure a wonderful experience. Thank you!
You dont have to love Japanese cuisine to love this place. Their excellent meats and flavors are outstanding. The best soft serve flavors in town. Outstanding wines by the glass or bottle. Gorgeous wood bar. Friendly staff. My go to place for lunch or dinner when Im in town
Went there for my birthday, the whole place smelled amazing all night. great staff and service. the tea and the ramen i had were amazing. mochi cake was not what i expected but was delicious nonetheless. my only “complaint” is how dark it is in there!
Great decor, and pretty good service. The menu allows you to go outside of your normal comfort zone. Certain dishes have left me really unimpressed such as the chicken skewers that didnt really have much going on and you definitely pay for it. Ive gone here several times as it does have great food, you just have to know what to order to make it worth it over good ol home cooking.
I liked this place a lot. Cool vibe. The cocktail list is fun. Food was excellent. Id go back.
Delicious, well sourced and well made food from good people. What else do you need to know? Eat the okonomiyaki.
An absolutely incredible dining experience! The staff is wonderful, food is phenomenal and the drinks are out of this world. A must in downtown Napa
The soft serve is fantastic. Loved the horchata. Loved the house made marshmallows. Win win.
Great food and great service. Wok-fried edamame and japanese sweet potato were exceptional.
We went there for my birthday dinner last month and had a wonderful time! Beautiful use of wood interior but terrible acoustics and we were seated next to a cement wall and my arm was basically against it the whole time. Great wine list/beer list and the drinks are precision made. Make sure to have your server guide you through the menu because its all good but size/portions can vary. I cant remember the name of the savory vegetable pancake that takes 20 minutes to prepare but it bridged into poetry as the fish-paper flakes danced in front of you, daring you to finish the whole thing. Desert is worth the trip on its own, soft-serve ice cream achieving consciousness.
Hands down the BEST restaurant in Napa! Love EVERYTHING about this restaurant. The wait staff is super knowledgeable and unbelievably friendly. The food is AMAZING! The chef/owner has such an amazing pallet...his food just makes me so happy!Must get the Tonkatsu or the Chicken katsu. Order the Kokos rice to accompany your entree. The Japanese sweet potato with Miso Butter is unreal!!!Just go there...you will not be disappointed. Trust me!
Ambiance was nice, service was good but the food isn’t that great. Compared to other restaurants in Napa at a similar price point, I would say there are many other better options. I do like the soft serve, so I would recommend the ice cream window as a treat after dining somewhere else.
Great food, drinks & service
Visited Napa for a girls weekend & some local folks recommended this place. We got in right when they opened with reservations and had some amazing cider. The food was good, but for the price I was expecting a little more (portion wise), especially after drinking most of the day and being hungry. But - if youre not a drunk ravaged tourist, it is probably enough food. The service was great, the food was good, the ambiance was also great & fun.
Modern yet original layout of the restaurant sets a good vibe. Great quality food and awesome staff.
So good love the Wagu steak the other night
Wonderful Japanese bar and grill, casual, comfortable, and above all delicious!
Class. Service top notch. Food is even better. I expect to return soon.
Amazing food, from sashimi, yakitori, ramen, fried rice, even their edamame is delicious. Service is great and they have a wide range of cocktails, wine, and beer. Soft serve ice cream is a must for dessert.
Different from the usual Japanese food. Yes they serve sushi but its much more. The place focus more on the experience of the meal course. Food taste ok. Nothing stood out as extraordinary.
Great experience. Fun place to share a bunch of food as a group.
Skewers 10/10, Gyoza and Shrimp starters 10/10, cocktails 10/10 .....miso ramen ...the hell with that. $20 and it was Soo bland. What a damn shame too
The food is expensive and not much flavor. Drinks and sorbet are fantastic. Cool place to hang out.
I love this place. Great food (especially if you like chicken),lots of care and Consideration put into every dish and cocktail. Wonderful staff! Hidden gem in Napa!
Try the soft serve! I know what youre thinking, soft serve from an Asian restaurant? Trust me.
I didnt think it was for me as I dont like Japanese food. Its so kuch more. I loved it. They have something for everyone. They also have amazing house made unique ice cream. They even have a walk up window for just ice cream. The employees are so positive and kind. This is one of the best restaurants in Napa.
Lots of vegetarian options - ordered the veggie fried rice, little gem lettuces, and fried edamame. Had a fantastic dessert of Milk soft serve with chocolate covered waffle pieces and enjoyed every bite. Good service and a beautiful design.
The soft serve window for late night ice cream!! Oh yeah!!
Japanese meets California fresh in a very interesting way. Great decir and design inside, excellent service and food that makes you want to go back every night and try the entire menu.Let the staff make great recommendations and go with them.
Elegant everything. Beautiful and delicious food. Great service!
Interesting food, well prepared. Professional service, cool room. Great place.
Enjoyable late night icecream and sorbet from 4-10pm served outside. Really liked the milk icecream with chocolate covered waffle pieces and whiskey butterscotch toppings.
The worst front of house service I have had anywhere in the world, I have difficulty standing and use a walking stick, I had a reservation I arrived a few minutes before, but was made to stand after my reservation time by the door (not offered a seat at the bar) this restaurant is NOT disabled friendly. I am sorry if having a walking stick did not make me trendy enough to eat in your restaurant - saying to me that you didnt have a table would of been much kinder than ignoring me to seat a walk in couple in front of me.
Absolutely loved this place. Great fresh fish and wines. The Ryoshidon was my favourite
Outstanding service even when crowded. Was not a fan of the Miso Ramen at all, figured I would just have to eat the cost because its not their fault I didnt like it. The manager noticed I hadnt really eaten anything from it and asked me if everything was alright. I told him I didnt like it and without hesitation he took it off my bill and offered to have something else made. I declined but I would absolutely go back to try their other dishes. Really great place and outstanding customer service.
They were very busy and understaffed. I wouldnt recommend the Halcyon cocktail.
Sit at the bar. Drinks are really good and the bartenders are very knowledgeable. The food is very good
Below average. Brought drinks halfway through meal. Food lacks flavor. Sunchokes not edible. Wont be back. Wish i never went. Soft serve was good.
So delicious! Highly recommend, everything was good and we sampled many different dishes.
Not your typical Japanese, but excellent food. I wanted sashimi. But the plate was too big, they were willing to make a 1/2 order, perfect! Oh, the buttered rice bowl was delish, and one bowl will happily serve two folks!
Really good food. Modern izakaya styled menu. Good sake selection. Service does drop a little when it gets busy, as the layout doesnt help the floor staff to move around efficiently. Recommend to go early. With 3 dollars signs, I was a little disappointed to have to get charged extra 3 dollars per egg yolk and 4 dollars for real wasabi.Other than that, highly recommend their delicious food.
Came here for the soft served ice cream! Soo good! Get that sesame honeycomb!
Food and service was wonderful. The skewers are highly recommended
Traditional Japanese on point! This locally owned gem boasts an excellent wine and sake selection, classic yakitori burning wood imported from Japan and the best sashimi Ive had in town yet! Their ice cream window with unique flavors is a great addition to downtown as well.
Miso and Mexican Chocolate soft serve serves throu street side widow.
Food was a little overpriced and they said they would give me a complimentary starting thing and when I checked they charged me for it so... eh looks nice inside though.
Lotsa chicken served lotsa different ways (and so much more). Great location (in my neighborhood). Great food. Great soft-serve.
Friendly Service, and enjoyable food. I just wish that the late menu wasnt restricted as much as it is...
From the time you walk in the door the warm welcome along with the beauty of the restaurant. The tables and chairs are all custome made by the chef friend, so we were told. The food was absolutely amazing the kobe ribs off the skewer bar was delicious, the spicy ebidon was outstanding.Chef Curtis came by which was nice to be able to talk to him and let him know how much we enjoyed our meal.We travel all over the world and this goes to the top of the list for great food. Napa has lots of treasures and this is one. Thank you for a great dinner 😊.
If you find yourself walking the streets of Napa, stop by the ice cream window for unique and ever-changing selections of dessert.
Chefs tasting menu was amazing: sashimi, salad, delicious corn custard, yummy yakitory, and a whole snapper. Expensive, but well worth it. Great service.
Food was good. Service was lackluster
So many delicious items to choose from. Friendly, humorous and highly knowledgeable waitstaff.
Gyoza, Japanese sweet potato dish, and katsu chicken were all phenomenal. Hands down some of the best gyoza Ive ever had ever!Sat at the bar. Staff was very polite, steps of service were impeccable, but not super helpful or even attentive... though in their defense while we were there it went from just the two of us to every seat taken. So its totally understandable. Just would have liked some recommendations since it was obviously our first time (we asked and tried banter, but...). Cant say enough about the food though!
Authentic izakaya style Japanese cuisine elevated with hype-seasonal, local vegetables and meat. Chef owned. Delicious. Not for people who just want to eat piles of bad sushi.
Delightful takes on unusual Japanese dishes in a warm, woody decor. Waiter Andrew is knowledgeable and charming.
Great atmosphere and you can tell the ingredients are quality. I ate the tantan ramen and it was only ok. One of the greatest bowls of ramen I’ve ever had was tantan, so I know it can be great, but this one was only fair. The noodles, broth, and meat were all just ok. And at $19, it’s more expensive than other bowls of ramen in the Bay Area. That being said, I would like to try their tonkotsu.
Great food and service
Very good food but small portions for the price. Really enjoyed the different skewers
The service is good, but the food just so so
Good food, some pretty esoteric dishes. Solid restaurant, but can be loud.
Great sorbet, amazing drinks, excellent service
I dont just throw 5-star ratings out there, because I think it distorts what a level-5 experience is about, but this clearly rates 5 stars. We enjoy the izakaya concept and have a few favorites near home, and when we were looking at places to eat in Napa Miminashi stood out. From the trippy entrance to the wood-heavy decor its a distinctive place. Service was friendly, helpful and relaxed (our server was Matt/Shaka, but everyone else seemed nice as well.)When someone at Miminashi tells you a dish is good if youre hungry you should expect it to be filling! There were just 2 of us dining but we wanted to try several things and got a bit carried away on quantity, but every dish we tried was delicious. The big dish that really filled us up was the pork donabe, which also had small potatoes and other veggies in with the pork and rice. It was rich, delicious, hearty comfort food but if youre going to try several other things Id recommend bringing a couple of people to help you with the donabe, or plan to take some home. (Indeed, Matt said it reheats very well, especially if you add another egg when reheating.)The okonomiyaki was also delightful, as were the grilled asparagus (in a lovely rich sauce, dont assume this is boring health food!)It seems their menu varies regularly, so youll get whats fresh and tasty today. Well definitely be back when were in Napa.
Great flavors! Great cocktails! Great service!
Brilliant service, caring preparation, cool ambiance, and delicious food --- Ill be back soon! Highly recommended.
Fabulous cuisine and atmosphere. A must stop in Napa!
