I can’t thank Stephanie and the rest of the Birkholz staff enough for repairing and repainting the front end of my ‘91 Mercedes 500SL. The fair estimate and timely repair made for an enjoyable experience. They did an amazing job restoring my car to factory condition and their attention to detail is unparalleled. This guys are doing very good Job, i had a problem with the Mercedes Benz of Naperville, and i found that my car is at the Birkholz Body werks. 2 weeks MB of Naperville was pushing the time and make excuses. My car was in this body shop and Olive help me right away, so they put my car priority. Did a very good Job for the car which is 200.000$$👍👍👍

My brand new X5 was hit by a deer who ran into my back drivers door and quarter panel. Car only had 700 miles on it. Was referred to Birkholz from a few people. I am fully satisfied with the work performed. Communication was excellent throughout the process, even when there were delays out of their control. Just picked up my car today and quality of body and paint work was perfect, looks like it was never hit. Highly recommend.

Staff was friendly and adhered to current social distancing protocols and they wore face masks. Waiting area was clean and neat. I enjoyed viewing some vintage Mercedes-Benz paintings on their walls. Staff was prompt and attentive.I came in for an estimate on my older Mercedes-Benz (2006). I didnt receive the news that I wanted to hear. Staff was honest about the condition of the body on my sedan. Staff didnt try to oversell their work. I was given an honest estimate and he reviewed my options with me.Staff was very knowledgeable about German made vehicles.

Unfortunately, I have been a Birkholz customer three times. That said, they are the very best in their craft. They exercise perfection in their work. If you need bodywork, and you wants your vehicle looking brand new, go to Birkholz.

I had my rear bumper replaced in this body shop and I asked them to detail clean the car from inside and to send the entire bill to the insurance and they fixed the bumper and they charged the insurance almost $180 for the detailed cleaning as we agreed but it was really bad and not even close to what is called detail cleaning and when I asked them about it they told me we sent it just to the most close detail cleaning shop. When I asked the cleaning shop they told me that your body shop just asked for just shampooing the seats from inside and they did not even charge them anything close to $180 and they just changed them for shampooing the car seats. I regretted that I trusted them. They are dishonest people.

Just received my car- The work performed was good, Although, I was charged for battery replacement (vehicle is just 3-4 year old Mercedes - 2016 model) I was told initially, that battery is old, and would only operate on jumpstart, I checked with Mercedes and they said, the life of battery is minimal 6 years. The insurance guys told that battery would have been damaged as way it was pulled out during repair. Not sure, who to believe now...

So to start off the staff here are rude, condescending, evasive, and change their story every time you talk to them. Half the responses you receive are “I don’t know”, “we didn’t do that”, “that’s not our fault, and we are not accepting responsibility for that”. Second the actual repair cost ended up being triple what I was originally quoted. Sure there’s always stuff you can’t see until they take apart the car but that’s an obscene amount. Third they took an obnoxious amount of time to complete the car. I was told it was take a few weeks for the job to be completed, but it ended up taking a little over two months. Nothing was started until they received a part that didn’t impede other parts of the process whatsoever. Hence the added that could’ve been avoided. While sitting at the shop waiting for this part to arrive it was left out in the sun and caused the leather on the dash to bubble and I received the response of “ I’m not excepting responsibility of that“ and “cars are meant to be left outside, and fine being out there for two months” and “that’s like complaining about the car getting rained on”. That’s absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Right after I picked up the car I went home to clean it and discovered that my spare tire was missing. When I called the first time the Receptionist answered. She then proceeded to explain where the tire should be in a very condescending tone like I was a child and have never had a car before. Then all she could say is there was nothing she could do and no one she could call and that I have to wait a few days till The shop opens to get any information on it. When I called back I was told that they had to go into where the spare tire is held to get a paint code but they ended up getting it for somewhere else because they did not want to take out the spare. So I want to know it magically disappeared out of my trunk within the 20 to 30 minutes it took me to get home with my vehicle. With a third phone call on the way to the shop I was then told that they never went into the trunk for anything. I pointed out that 20 minutes ago he said that they did go into the trunk but then he saying they did not. Which one is it did you go into the trunk or did you not? Like I had previously stated they can’t keep the story straight. Lastly I had noticed the previous night that the headlights were pointed down to where you could see maybe 20 feet in front of the car. Well that was brought up with them on the same phone call I got a response of “everyone has their headlights in a different position, and they are self leveling. But go ahead and bring it and will fix it”. My question is why was the driver side headlight messed with when the damage was only to the Passenger side of my vehicle. That is the only thing that they excepted responsibility saying “well that got overlooked, and I’m sorry”.I would like a especially point out one Employee in particular. That would be Tony. He was the worst one at the shop to deal with. Very unprofessional, always combative, and could never give you a straight forward answer. When all these problems originally started I had asked to speak with a manager and he responded with “well I can be the manager”. That means your not the manager so why try to claim that you are something that your not. When I finally went to the shop to speak with the owner about everything that has happened Tony followed us in and then would not let me speak to the owner. He kept jumping in and saying what he wanted and not allowing anyone else time to speak.If I could this shop ZERO stars I would but google doesn’t allow that. Avoid this place at all cost. You will get screwed around, and will have problem after problem.

Ok well I have been using this establishment for years now dating back to 2012,And every car they work on of mine the outcome has Never been anything but stellar.The cars they have done for me have been my,2006 BMW Z42012 BMW X52016 BMW X52012 BMW 1352009 Audi TT2012 Mini Cooper Countryman.All work done has been flawless every time and looked OEM even down to the factory orange peel so it looked like factory paint finish and not a repaint. And the color match was spot on. Perfect blending techniques and never a shortcut taken.I understand some of these reviews I read people want their car yesterday or on the date promised and in today’s climate everyone is instant gratification generation but if you want quality, it cannot be rushed. Yes I’ve seen work done on many other shops over the years as I’ve been all over the country for my line of work and many shops especially insurance shops cut corners or rush things in order to move product in numbers, not these guys.Also had people be nice and bend over backwards for me but their quality sucked and then I’m stuck with their work! I don’t care if your nice to me I want my car to look like it was never touched and that’s what these guys give me.You want it done right the first time take it here, even if you have to wait for a bit it’s worth it ! I’d rather it done right the first time than a rush job and then having to go over it all over again.Just for example, while they where painting my Audi TT the surface of the hood was hard to get perfect as the body surface is very clean and somewhat free of surface entertainment so the paint work was showing some low spots. So the company just replaced the hood with a new hood because it was the only way to get it right. That right their showed me the level of commitment they will go to deliver an exceptional job, did it take longer ? yes, was it going above and beyond ? Yes.I don’t think many people understand the complexities of cars today and how after a crash you keep finding things that are under the surface and it adds to the time to get it out the door. Again I’d rather it done right and not Have things overlooked to meet a projected date. But that’s just my opinion. I’m a car guy so quality trumps everything else.These guys deliver !And more importantly always deliver !Thanks guys for all your work over the years.Chris.

Ive had work done of a few cars here and the quality of the work is top notch. In one fender bender recently, I brought them in a paint to sample Porsche - a custom color painted by the factory but not an easy color to match or shoot. As I understand it, the paint guys made 7-8 test shots to ensure the color and texture would be right. And it turned out PERFECT. Cant tell that the car was touched up in any way, or in any lighting condition. They have a reputation for quality work - and this is why. Painstaking work to be able to color match a one-off factory custom paint job. I will always bring my vehicles to them - wont let anyone else touch my cars.

I had a wonderful experience with Birkholz. I had the opportunity to work with Jason, and he was professional, courteous and in touch with me through the entire repair process. He kept me updated via email when I was out of the country, and remembered me personally when I called in and didnt need to look up a file. Great quality repair, fantastic communication, wouldnt take my car anywhere else.

I wanted to go to this place based off of them being VW certified. I was involved in a minor not at fault accident and called this place. I talked to Tony 2x before I recieved an estimate from the other guys insurance company. Tony told me not I didnt need to do anything until I got their estimate. Once I did they finally want to do an estimate. Why couldnt we have done this 2 weeks ago to get the ball rolling and schedule repairs? Why the need to drag it out? Finally get there to go over their estimate. Their insurance company priced out aftermarket parts and I was told they dont do it and will have to pay out of pocket...I went to crash champions with no issues. Booked the same day. They will handle everything for me including setting up the rental car. Thanks for nothing guys!

I took my car to Bill Jacobs Volkswagen in August 2018 because my fuel light was on. I made an appointment and decided to wait for my car in the lobby. My car was under warranty. After waiting a few hours – I was told that there was nothing wrong with it and they were able to “reset” the light and sent me on my way. They said if it happens again that the problem would be under warranty since the problem was brought up during warranty. A few days later, the problem resumed. I didn’t have the time to sit for another 3 hours waiting for the problem to resolved again, and I was going out of town for a few weeks.While I was out of town, I made another appointment for my return – for September 5, 2018. This time I reserved a loaner, so I didn’t have to wait for three hours. Plus, I saw I needed service. I went into the service area and was taken care of by Wes. I was told it would be up to 7 hours for the work, based on their workload.Wes reviewed my car service and told me I needed a plethora of service. Wes is/was nice enough – and he was doing his job – I found out later that these guys get commission on service and upselling – that is word to the wise. I agreed to a tire rotation/balance and new windshield wipers. That was issue #1…I got a call from Wes who told me my car had a dent in it where the fuel pump sensor is and there is a chance that that was what caused my fuel light to have a problem was from the dent that would cost approximately $1500 to fix. Interesting that this “dent” now is the problem since my car was not under warranty at this time.. They told me to keep the “loaner” while they fix the car….October 10, 2018 – I get a call that they had sold my loaner and needed me to return it. Somehow there were scratches on the hood…which now, I was responsible for paying a deductible… I was asked if I had a cat? Really? I have no idea how that happened and I hadn’t noticed…but now I had a $500 bill…and I’m given another loaner – as they said it was.The saga continued… They sent my car to a body shop referred by them… and I trusted that the body shop would be fine…. Well… a few more things happened. The body shop Birkholz of Naperville was enlisted to do the work on my car…and they worked with my insurance company to get the work reviewed – State Farm was terrific and approved the charges…Now we are over 35 days without my car…and I’m looking for my car to be done…NOW….I ask why has this taken so long…and I get more charges approved by State Farm….I am clueless why this has happened – I call Birkholz and told they found more damage and got it approved. I’m furious because they haven’t even called me about the damages and go forward with work without my approval…The next day I get a notice from State Farm that they have approved a RENTAL fee from Bill Jacobs…I had never been told that I had a rental and not a “loaner” as Wes repeatedly told me. AGAIN – I wasn’t told that it was NOT a loaner – and my insurance company was charged $600… I said I would have gone to a real rental agency – I would have had a choice of which car I had to use for this period of time instead of being given a car they decided I could have…I’m told my car is done – but they decided to wait for the State Farm checks before they gave me my car back…Finally – October 18 - my car is done… 43 days from day one..So – the complaints: lack of clear communication from Bill Jacobs AND Birkholz; lack of honesty on my first attempt to get my car fixed; insulting me about having a “cat” that scratched the car (WAAATT??), quietly charging my insurance company and not informing me -both Jacobs and Birkholz creating fraud in these instances.Why do I care about this? I worry about my experience and my fees going up…I would never had rented from them AND I wouldn’t have had the second work “they found”……What I find almost the funniest is that I never got the “Survey” you get after you have your service done at Bill Jacobs – they knew I was completely unhappy and knew they would risk their 5 star ratings.never never never again!

Would not recommend at all! Chose them even though they were the higher of the quotes I received. Increased the price of the parts they ordered for my repair after the work was completed. I had already paid the price they gave me in full and parts were already received. Never mentioned the increase when I went in with car before service to check that they had what they needed and didnt mention again when i came in for the repairs. Worse yet the man i dealt with was extremely rude and condescending. Also was way overcharged by their labor estimate. Have already told all my friends and neighbors to never go here.

This place is the worst, I brought the Mercedes I had here 10 years ago and its the worst customer service and they never call back and if you did manage to get a hold of someone they where always rude or giving you the run around. I got an initial timeframe when it was suppose to get done and it took twice as as long (like almost two months in the shop during winter). Im also surprised the dealerships in the area even recommend this place still to this day. I assume they must have some type of partnership/deal with this car repair-paint shop and the dealerships...YOUVE BEEN WARNED STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

They do great work, but Ive had to go elsewhere several times because of unrealistic wait times of over 30 days to start.Dropped to three stars for repeated poor service.
