Excellent company to work with. I can only say good things about Ray Hamilton and his group. Responsive and easy to work with. I am currently working with Merf. One thing I have discovered about the Music business is that there is no room for mediocrity. I thought I had a great song to submit, for a recent submission. I soon learned that Music Industry standards are much different than my own. I learned that if my music isnt phenomenal, it likely is not going anywhere. We are up to the eighteenth revision of the song I am currently working on.So, dont blame your song placement company, if your music isnt gaining traction and you havent gotten a deal. Instead, invest your time and energy into making better music, that a company like Merf can present to its clients, for a record deal or for possible placement into or TV or Film.

All of the info this group has given me is super helpful and all the work they are doing is so inspiring. They really have been such a blessing...all the tips, and potential opportunities are really great. It’s not only been personally therapeutic for me to go back and revisit music that I forgot had been sitting around for so many years, but it’s also inspired me to start writing again. My last few years have been so consumed with travel and doing shows that I forgot that I love and need to write- as bizarre as that sounds. While there is a monthly fee, the pitching opportunities and connections they’ve established with music supervisors, A&R, and those closest to top artists who are in search of hits, is simply awesome. There monthly fee is minuscule in comparison to what some companies are trying to ask for just one pitching opportunity. If you have great songs, or if you wanna create great songs and need guidance from people already doing it, this should be your go to.So thank you Merf Music Group. You guys rock!

Ray and the staff at Merf Music Group have been nothing but kind to me! I do pay a minimum fee for their services, but it includes SO MUCH MORE than just song critiques. They pitch my songs to artists cutting new albums and also to film and television. They will work with you until your song is ready and encourage you NOT to demo your song until it is. This has personally saved me so much money. They have educational videos and helpful information in their monthly newsletter and also help you connect with other writers for co-writes and songwriter support. I don’t mean to be rude to anyone who posted but do you truly believe these kind of companies are supposed to work for free? Are you seriously that arrogant or just cheap? I too was on musicxray and are you aware that music X-ray takes 85% of your fee and only 15% goes to any company listening? Maybe you should do your homework. I have gotten more interaction with this company than I ever have with any other “pay to listen/critique” service for far less money. Well, there’s my two cents. Take it or leave it. I’ll be sticking with this team for a while!

I know this is a tough business, so I had no inflated expectations when I joined in the summer of 2018. With Merf Music Group, the opportunities are extensive, Ray is always prompt to answer any question I have, and I sense an honest effort to have my songs placed. Given the incredibly competitive climate in Nashville (and the fact that I dont live there), I think this is the most promising opportunity around. PS: I have submitted a dozen songs; nine were a pass, but three are being considered. Ill take it.

This is my first year working with Merf Music Group as a songwriter. My experience with Ray Hamilton and the Song Placement Pros has been very positive. They have always been kind and professional. Before signing up and working with Merf Music Group I had done a lot of research on Music Agents In Nashville who were willing to pitch my songs for incredibly high amounts of money per month.Merf Music Group is the best deal in town.I hope one day, like any good songwriter, to have a few songs well crafted enough to be recorded by top shelf performers like Kenney Chesney, Garth Brooks or Blake Shelton, etc.Because I live in Florida, this would be unlikely without Merf Music Group. These are the professionals with the Nashville connections needed to help songwriters living in Florida to California to have a fighting chance at getting their music listened to by the top A&R executives in Nashville.Because I work full time and write songs part time, I have not been able to use all of the resources which Merf Music Group provides (which I look forward to doing) but in my honest opinion, Merf Music Group is worth every hard earned penny.

Ray Hamilton helped me so much in my music career! He has produced 2 CDs for me with several Top 10 songs! He is a work horse and as tenacious as a bulldog on a postmans backside! He doesnt quit on a project until he believes its the very best it can be! He has made me a better musician, singer, and artist because of his persistence in not letting it go to press before its the best it can be! I WILL BE BACK TO MAKE MORE MUSIC WITH RAY IN THE FUTURE!I would also like to add my two cents worth about the bad reviews on here. I have worked my whole life to promote my music and to just be heard. Most people who are trying to find a deal in the music industry already know (if theyve been doing it very long at all), that working to get that deal is like trying to find a needle in a haystack! Merf Music Group and Song Placement Pros are working everyday to promote music to record labels on behalf of the people who have no idea how to get through the mazes of how record labels work. SPP isnt going to LOVE everything sent to them. Thats just the way it is. But when you submit excellent songs, they do what they say they will do and they HAVE THE CONNECTIONS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! When you DONT have what it takes, you will get the feedback necessary to make the changes and resubmit until you can tweak it for submission to the record label, artist, etc.Theres always someone out there that has to throw the negativity in the mix. But tell me how what youre doing NOW is helping you further your music career. Yeah? Thats what I thought.

No songwriter in Nashville has ever gotten a real publishing or placement deal by using a song plugger

To all the haters and naysayers !!!This company works !!! And they work for you the Songwriter.I am coming up on my one year anniversary being a member of Song Placement Pros. & I can say without a doubt after being in and out of four professional traditional publishing deals here in Nashville with a draw and a demo budget etc. that SPP is by far the best publishing house I’ve ever worked with! Here’s why… For the $40 a month I pay (which is one night out on this town that I’m more than willing to sacrifice) I get better one on one communication via email and phone calls that I ever did with any of my other publishers Concerning guidance and encouragement…From a Grammy award winning multi-platinum publisher…on top of multiple evaluations concerning my new songs which other companies charge up to $125 per evaluation per song...Outside of the fact that I feel Ray & his team are true champions for me as well as the songs I write & co-write...this company provides me with monthly song reports that show exactly where my song went who heard it and whether or not there was or is any current activity on it…And what that activity was: pass, hold etc...I’ve been in professional staff writing deals where I can’t get a publisher to let me know what’s going on with any of my songs let alone a monthly report of what’s going on with all of them...The other amazingly important aspect about SPP is what that $40 gets you on the backend…Every publishing deal I’ve ever been in took 100% of my publishing and if you don’t know what that means you don’t have any right to talk any smack about paying for a publisher as a service… Because on the backend What that $40 means is that I get to keep 80% of my publishing right off the bat… I don’t have to recoup I don’t have to do anything other than pay that $40… And the 20% that SPP retains covers my administration rights as well ... and what that means is when I do get a song on the radio or placed in a movie or TV show all the taxes and Collections are taken care of for me and all I have to do is go to the mailbox and get my money! And if you’ve ever tried to do the administration on your own song every time something happens with it...I can assure you it’s a job in and of itself ... I’ve done it & i’ve spent hundreds of hours chasing down money on songs that could’ve been spent creating new ones ...all for that same $40...You can look at it this way… That $40 a month is the difference between keeping an extra $300,000 on a number one song That you would normally in any standard publishing deal ... give to the publisher! Here’s the example: $1 million in revenue is generated every week that a song is at number one ... that is then split between the publisher and the writer at whatever the agreed contract is… Meaning if it’s a solo write, to keep the Math easy, that goes #1 .... $1 million is paid to the publisher & then in any standard contract the publisher will retain half… That’s $500,000!!!… With SPP in the exact same scenario that $40 allows me to keep $300,000 of what the publisher would’ve took in any other standard publishing deal.... because I’m starting off being able to retain 80% of my publishing versus none of it !!!And that $200,000 that SPP gets to keep Is what any administration rights company would charge the Songwriter anyway for tracking down and handling all the revenue streams on that song if you didn’t have any kind of a publishing deal…The standard right now is 15 to 20% to handle song writers administration rights…And lastly That $40 A month introduced me to a community of songwriters and a team that cares about getting my songs heard and beyond that cut and placed and Featured to build my brand as a songwriter…I had a lot of options after I was nominated for a Grammy as a songwriter for best country album in 2018 And I chose to work with Song Placement Pros and Ray Hamilton because that team and those songwriters believe in me as much as I do them!!!

Same as the other review. After giving them 15 bucks to listen to one song on music xray, they act like they are open to pushing your music for a mutual split. Then after some back and forth, they just want you to join their subscription service at $30 a month. Waste of everyones time.

I just sent them this email - Hello Merf Music and Thanks for saying nice things about my song Simple Country Girl submitted through Musicxray. That said I consider what you are doing to be an abuse of the services offered on xray and will be leaving ANOTHER 1 star review for your company on Google and xray.I am a highly experienced internet marketing person who can read through BS canned responses. You clearly have NO INTENT to follow through and award what you offered to anyone on xray. Please don’t contact me with any BS offers.Sincerely YoursDon C
