One star for the convenience of having the free use of moving carts. I rented a storage unit here for about a year. First off, very bad customer service at the front desk. I experienced this nearly every time I needed assistance from the front desk. I recommend using the app so you can handle all your business digitally. For the first few months when I opened my unit it set off the alarm on the unit next to mine and after multiple complaints they finally fixed it. This storage facility is always insanely busy with people constantly taking up the minimal existence of parking spots and the moving carts. The one and only elevator for the hundreds of units is exceptionally slow and you will spend most of your time waiting just to use the elevator. I will never rent a storage unit here again and I felt so much relief after I moved my things out.
The people are great. The app needs improvement! As well as the browser version. Check out should include doing a light test to ensure they all function properly as well as safety features. Maybe even a walk through video on how to hook up to the power supply.

Worst customer experience, they expect everyone to utilize the online service but if youre unable to access this, you cant get anyone on the phone and get charged late fees. I called 3 days and was put on hold for over 20 minutes and still wasnt able to get anyone on the phone to process my payment and was still assessed a late fee after. I will be pulling my property from this location as soon as possible. Horrible

I truly love this storage facility. I had originally stayed here for a month, then went down the street to another storage. I truly regret that. It was nothing in comparison by far to U-Haul it was creepy, customer service was bad,didnt feel safe, hours were not like U-hauls. Actually nothing was. You dont miss what you have, till its gone. Lol Glad to be back at a place that meets my needs. And this is the quickest, simplest place I have ever checked into. No hassle, no drama. Definitely recommend the facility in National City to everyone.
Custom service sucks! I had to wait like 20min to pay my storage bill and a manager name Jorge was kinda being rude and he help a customer before me not cool!

They are great!!! But there is one lady in particular that has beem wonderful and she keeps that place so clean. She works really hard and shes always able to help me with anything if i have any ?. I hate this because i cant remember her name but i think its Lorrena. SHES WONDERFUL!!!!!
I’ve never been on who believes that a place can’t be as bad as it’s worst reviews. This place priced me wrong. It’s a complete mess from start to finish. It left such a sour taste in my mouth I’ll never use Uhaul again.

Had a Ubox delivered from Nashville, TN to National City, CA, and Clara, the Ubox driver, from this location, went above and beyond her job duties... She is a gem... Thank you Clara, and National City U-haul, for making today easier :-)... Also, thank you U-Haul Ubox team for getting our Ubox across country without any damage to anything! Its been a great experience!
Long distance truck rental and free month of storage worked out great for my family! Clean place, too.
Climate control between 65-85 and they keep it at 81 to save money at our expense. Not only is it already hot outside but to deceive people and deliberately set it at the highest is misleading. Why even get climate control if you won’t keep it on the cooler side? I am submitting a complaint to your main office and will not renew when my time is up.
U-haul moving and storage have horrible customer service and will do whatever to take or get your money
Basically skipping the line just means you wind up having to do all the leg work yourself and then you still wait in line.Dont bother to use the advertised Mobile Check In. After waiting in line for awhile I read the signs saying to skip the line and use mobile check in. I downloaded the app, made and account, and followed the intense procedures to a tee. After everything which took awhile and required going to find and scan a code on an exterior wall thats about 1x2 barcode and going to the lot to find the truck by equipment number, youre required to go back inside to the attendant to get the key.. The app says skip the line, go directly to the attendant, show them this screen to get your key and go.Thats where the system fails. The attendant wouldnt help. She said they are busy with customers and I need to get back in line. I asked what the issue was since they were contradicting the app and about 50 big signs saying otherwise within direct line of sight, and another attendant said they cant answer that while helping other people.The manager did eventually come help after the line was cleared out but then I still had to finish step two of the skip the line check in process. Waste of time, twice as long and had to interact with 4 people instead of 1. Also the truck is filthy.

I called ahead to see if my pickup order was ready and the team here had my items ready when I showed up. My rating is for the service. Unfortunately, there was one person working outside that wasnt wearing a mask while walking around and not making any effort to avoid customers.

PICKUP: Reserved a 10 truck for a 5am pickup via the app. Truck was there and ready to go. However, they should update their key pickup process; the app told me to pick up the keys by the door but the key was not there. This location started putting the keys inside the truck itself so, the app should be updated accordingly so that its a friction-less process (especially if youre new to renting remotely via the app). Just a minor hiccup in an otherwise smooth process.TRUCK: Its a u-haul truck. Drives like one. No problems here. Take your time on the road and drive safe.RETURN: Return was great; quick and smooth.OVERALL: Much props to Kyle (not sure hes from this location) for upgrading me from a 9 van to 10 truck at no extra charge. Id rent from them again.

These guys sold me a trailer hitch / trailer combo that wasnt even remotely safe, and WAY over the limit that my car could handle.When it came time to get in the road it took 48 hours of sleeping in parking lots and waiting around on their site fixing their mistakes, paying for towing and a completely different truck setup all out of my pocket.The staff was super nice and apologetic, but in the end it ended up costing me double, and their customer service eventually just stopped contacting me.First uhaul experience ... Couldnt be more dissapointed overall. I wont be back or recommending.

I have been at this storage facility for over 3 years. They have great security. The only way inside is by scanning a key card. If you dont scan the card and the storage is opened an alarm will blast inside you unit and management will be notified. Its at a cool temperature that keeps your stuff safe from humidity damage. Multiple sizes and special offers. I have the 15x15 and its plenty of space for all kayakes, surfboards and bikes.
Got a hitch installed on our vehicle. Ask for Rich, this guy is super honest, will tell you what you need to hear.

Rented a truck for one day, was on my way to return it I called to let them know I was running a few minutes late to avoid paying another day, they say no problem itll be ok, when I returned the key they charged me $58 dlls for another day, when they told me it was going to be ok, I asked to speak with a supervisor, he said Im the supervisor.....no communication between representatives at this place, I didnt get the guy name but my final receipt said Alfredo Montano Jr.
Only reason why I’m writing this review is to thank Irene and Amanda . I rented the car and left with it, I went all the way to my house and noticed that I left my keys on the desk in the uhaul office . I had to come back with the truck because my car was parked somewhere else (at the storage ) . That back and forth trip just to come get my key then go back again to my house cost me about 70-80 miles. I was so surprised when I came to get the keys and I explained what happened, Irene felt sorry for me and said that she will put a note attached to my final bill and when I come for the payment I might get a discount. I had hard time first with a guy who didn’t want to believe me then I went to Amanda, she took her time, went through the note left by Irene and gave me the discount . Thanks a lot to those 2 ladies . They were very nice
As a whole I would not rate my experience with uhaul five stars but this location really stepped up to the plate when the online call center screwed up and didnt have my U-Box called in and ready for me.... Even though they were extremely busy they stepped up to the plate and got me taken care of in a reasonable amount of time for which Im very pleased as I had a short time window and needed to get my move done on that particular day.... Good on you guys 👍👍

Super easy to find location, right off of the highway and it is highly visible as well.The staff was all super friendly and extremely helpful. Someone even lent me a screwdriver which was crucial in getting into my UBox.All around it was a really great experience. When I decide to move again Ill probably use these folks again.
Now inventories are very short in southern California specially San Diego county, you must request what you need in advance, like a week before, otherwise youll be in trouble. Customer service helps me in my request. Happy for now. Yes. But Uhaul should have more equipment inventory. My suggestion.
I was charged 3 times for my service. Now I’m on a 20 minute hold to resolve a mistake they made. Very inconvenient.

This U-haul location provides exceptional customer service! Very conveniently located right off the I-5, clean and up to standard equipment provided. Best of all the customer service is on point! Patrick the manager read my survey feedback which was not negative and he took time out of his day to call me and follow up about my experience! How many managers anywhere do that? The little things go a long way in satisfying customers. Amanda was an employee that solved an issue for me, not only was she calm and friendly, she really took the time to look into what went wrong and solve the issue quickly! Thank you Patrick & Amanda, you both are great at customer service and it is not an easy task to try to satisfy customers on a daily basis, much appreciated.
This is the absolute WORST place to store your belongings. I got a 140 dollar unit and it was directly under a alarm on the second floor . My UNIT was burglarized and first the manager says he insinuates that I did it. Then he basically convinces the police not to finger print my unit. He reviews the footage and says hell call me the next day .... I had to call several times. He then tells me it was not just my unit. It was two units and the other persons was whos card was being used to open the max security lying advertising. I asked about the cameras and apparently they can get a good view and the license plates you cant see. Then the owner wont give me the number to the insurance company he says didnt they ever get a hold of you and no they didnt. He finally gives me the number and it doesnt even work. He is a dishonest person and this place needs to be shut down nothing about this place is secure!
Its cool theres was a first month free deal I believe, you can get any size. The alarms go off often that can be alarming (pun unintended 💀)
Nobody answers the phone at the National City location. All of my calls get transferred to corporate, who can’t offer relevant help. I am extremely dissatisfied with their customer service (or lack thereof).
As an unbiased employee, I can honestly say that we have an awesome team here that are friendly and helpful. We enjoy working here and it shows.

They helped us when they understand what we went through, big delayance effect of people we hired from Home Depot was trying to cut throat us when they saw we lived in a nice exclusive place they started charging us $$! I went here to return a truck today and I was met with violence behavior from an employee who ripped the contract out of my hands and yelled at me. Apparently there was a problem with the payment method and I was just the delivery person for the person on the contract. The person on contract was busy serving our country and I told them to wait till 4pm when he gets off work. I was threatened with fees for not having it turned in at time. I read the contract over and it indeed said before 4pm. I was there at 1:30pm!I contacted a family friend who is a general manager for uhaul in another state and theyve told me theyre going to set this straight. look forward to the employee losing their job.
Safe and well protected
Total disappointment. I received my Ubox in Michigan with lot of damages to my belongings including 2 broken TVs. I have sent pictures to the insurance claim company Repwest and details but I was not compensated. I was not well informed about the insurance coverage in the store (El Cajon) when I purchased the service and even though the delivered ubox was bent and my stuff damaged, no compensation was given. I ended with damaged furniture, no TV and I will leave my feedback on google to alert other customers to not be in my situation.
