I set up a spa day for 9 girls at this location. It is hard to make women happy, but NONE of us were disappointed with our services! EVERYONE was so relaxed after and went on about how much they enjoyed it. The transition for each of our services was very smooth as well! We came in at 9am and were all done by 12:30. No confusion anywhere and we had plenty of time to hit the wineries that evening. The salon is super clean, cozy, and cute. Megan was super responsive in planning our day and super accommodating. They even gave my sister a little gift bag since our spa day was for her bachelorette party. I will definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a hill country spa and salon day!

I am a long time client of The Retreat. I left going there when my stylist left and started her own business. After a year, she moved to Austin and I needed to find a new stylist. I was nervous about going back but I have not been disappointed. Sharon has been wonderful and I am in the hands of a very talented stylist. Her color and cut were spot on and the health of my hair has been maintained. The entire staff is so sweet and kind and fun. Do not doubt making an appointment with them.

I had the body scrub folloed by a one hour massage. What a wonderful and relaxing experience! By the time I left my skin felt as smooth as silk and my muscles were finally knot- free. Paige is an awesome masseuse!

This is a lovely vacation from stress! A nice mini road trip from San Antonio- not your typical drop- in-anytime nail factory where the staff make jokes about your hammer toes and callouses in a language you don’t know! Everyone is super nice and welcoming! My friends and I enjoy the ‘seasonal’ pedicures that are so thorough and come with a nice festive adult beverage! We leave with beautiful feet and happy hearts! Today we had facials...Omgosh! An hour of relaxation and nourishment for the face! Arms, shoulders, neck, and hands were included with massage and lotions and even feet were treated with warm moist towels while I laid on a warmed table! BEST HOUR EVER❤️❤️. Seriously friends, treat yourself - go with the idea that you are going to be pampered and cared for! Make an appointment ASAP!

I had the most AMAZING massage here with Shannon. I left feeling like a brand new woman. Highly recommend coming here for all your spa needs and even if your looking for gifts as they have a boutique in the front with the cutest gifts from clothing, to jewelry and even skin care.

I have only had one massage before and it was more then 4 years ago before I got married. My very best friend paid for me to get a prenatal massage today and all I have to say is wow I loved it Amanda was amazing and she did a great job we had a great conversation while she was working on my shoulders and lower back! What a great welcome, when I walked in the door they new me by name. My manicure and pedicure were amazing. I have a two year old and am always chasing him around the house and always ruining my polish. She used a special long lasting nail polish that I am in love with! I have been coming for my hair for years and love Sharon and am impressed with their cleanliness or their nail area and will never go anywhere else ever again. If you truly want to pamper yourself this is your place!

I went in last weekend for my wedding hair and makeup trial. I couldn’t have had a better experience with Cyrus and Alex. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, not to mention total ROCKSTARS at what they do! They did an awesome job of making me feel comfortable and taken care of, and I was blown away at how amazing I looked when I left. This weekend made me 100 times more excited for how I’m going to look on my wedding day. I can’t wait to start my big day at this salon!

Sharon is amazing. Great color and great cut. Really helped me make a great color choice. That is vibrant and shiny but not artificial or fake.

The staff is very knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. I have had absolutely nothing but good luck everytime I stop by. Very tallented employees and fair prices. The boutique always has something new and its a good place to buy things you cant get anywhere else.

The service here is fantastic! I worked with Laurie to get ready for my wedding last year and she did a fantastic job of making me look and feel my best! She did a beautiful job with my bridesmaids and my makeup. She is fantastic to work with!

Had my hair cut by Rachel L, hair stylist. Told her I wanted a trim, but I didnt know what to do with it since it was different lengths and very thin. She made a few suggestions. She told me what she would do if it were her, but told me that it was my decision. I picked one of her suggestions, since my hair is very thin. She did a wonderful job. I am very happy with the new look. The cut made my hair look thicker. I would recommend Rachel, if you are looking to have a cut. She is very pleasant and very good at her job!

OMG, I had an Awesome experience here, definitely recommended, its a place to be, the staff is out of this world.

I came in for a fill on my eyelash extensions. The staff was very nice, including the lady who did my refill. That is the only good thing I have to say about this experience. The woman who did my refill glued some of my bottom lashes to my top ones...twice. Ouch! Then some of them were glued in the middle of my natural lash giving them a floating appearance. She used so much glue that you could visibly see the how caked on it was. She told me that would come off overnight. Not so much. Almost 2 weeks later and its an unbearable, scratchy feeling from the amount used. Im in the process of removing them from the discomfort. Three hours later and the glue is still not dissolving due to the abundance used. My eyelashes have been through so much trauma from this experience, it will take months to have them looking normal again. I will never go back here and I highly recommend finding some place else if youre interested in eyelash extensions. I gave 1 star because it wouldnt let me give 0. Good luck ladies!

My wifes friend thought she had beaten breast cancer, so my wife bought her a gift certificate for a one hour Swedish massage as a celebration present. Unfortunately, before the gift certificate could be used, the friend died, so couldnt use the gift certificate. Nonrefundable and nontransferable reads the certificate, and even though the recipient died and the Executor gave the certificate back to my wife, who had paid for it, the Retreat would not provide any services to my wife or permit the transfer of the certificate to another. What business tries to profit from a persons death? Apparently, the answer is The Retreat Salon and Day Spa.

Jamila at The Retreat in New Braunfels did outstanding work on my cut/style, color and highlights. This was my first appointment with Jamila and it was just what I needed to start the New Year off right. She listened to what I envisioned my style and color to look like and immediately knew what needed to be done to achieve a fresh, flattering new cut and style for me. I left the salon feeling great and my cut is so easy to maintain. My appointment was easily booked online from the website and I immediately received a call to confirm a time and day that worked for me. The girl at the front desk that checked me in for my appointment that day was also extremely nice and helpful and I am sorry that I did not get her name. Also Rosalinda who works in the front with scheduling and checking in always remembers my name and always does great work getting my appointments scheduled and changed and making everyone feel welcome the minute you walk in. I highly recommend The Retreat for spa and hair services.

I received a gift certificate last year that after using a portion for a massage was told by spa personnel that the $20 remaining balance could be used any time with no expiration. A very rude, condescending blonde woman seemed to doubt that I had such a credit, stating that all credits expire after 6 months. She was extremely rude and I left the opposite of how I expected to feel after my visit, angry, pissed off and am going to let it be known to never waste your time or money with this sham of a business.NOW you are trying to discredit me as being a customer? This is your defense? Your attempt to disprove that I ever was a customer shows exemplifies what type of company you choose to be. Now there are two examples of the integrity of your company in how you treat customers and in how you keep records. Poorly!

I had the pleasure of Ashly Johnson giving me my massage. She was very professional. I will deffinitly recommend her to my friends and family.

I get shellac manicures at least once every 3 weeks at my normal simple walk in salon in Houston. Came to New Braunfels for a wedding and considered just getting my nails done in Houston before... but thought, no I will treat myself to a fancy salon manicure and pedicure. My mistake. First of all in Houston I get a pedicure, shellac manicure, and a wax and its $75. I spent $120 at the Retreat and they did not scrub my feet at all because I got the basic pedicure. Thats all fine, I expected to pay more. My biggest problem was that I got the shellac on Thursday afternoon. Its now Sunday and on 2 of my fingers it has completely peeled off in one solid chunk. I was shampooing my hair, looked down and it was completely peeled off. Ive always had them last at least 2 weeks... not 3 days. Now I have spent so much I cant really afford to get them redone 3 days later. Money definitely not well spent.

Be aware that gift certificates only last six months from date of purchase. That might seem like a long time, but the recipient needs to be in a position to use the entire GC in that six months.

I love this place. Everyone who works there is super nice and professional. I highly recommend Rachel to do your hair. She is truly an expert and will listen to what you want done. She has been highlighting, cutting, coloring my gray and styling my hair for about 5 months now. My hair looks the best it has in many years. She knows what she is doing! I further recommend Sheryl if you want a facial, she is truly sweet, spends lots of time with you, is never rushed, and my face feels great for weeks! I have gone to many spas and in my opinion there is no one who compares to her for a facial. Last but not least is Rebecca who is an amazing massage therapist. I walk out of the room totally relaxed and de-stressed. She is the best! I really do like the Retreat Day Spa so much I travel from Schertz and I have never been disappointed; they are always on time, they have never canceled an appointment on me, and they are reasonably priced.

What a complete 180! My first review was ill informed and I will always be the first one to admit when I have misjudged someone or something. Jimmie was NOT the technician who did my manicure. The girl was only sitting at Jimmies work station. I owe Jimmie a serious apology.The owner contacted me and wanted to do everything in his power to make it right, I have never experienced customer service like that. What a great way to run a business. He definitely changed my perception and experience. My mani and pedi were fabulous and I will be continuing to go to Jimmie as long as she will have me! Thank you Retreat, you really went above and beyond.Upon arrival I was so excited to try this place out because I had heard mostly good things, and I was looking forward to it all day. I checked in and waited for the esthetician to call my name. Jimmie was the girl who worked on my nails, she didnt introduce herself to me, she didnt say a word to me other than asking me to pick out a nail color. Which just made me really uncomfortable and wanting to leave the entire time I was there.Before I sat down in her chair I made it a point to tell her again that I had acrylic nails on my hands, and without saying anything she began to work on sanding and removing the shellac from my previous manicure.Upon inspection of my nails about half way through the process I noticed that the polish was not even covering my nails, there was visible unpolished nail on all sides of my fingers and at the ends. Not only that but because she did not remove my acrylic nails the bottoms of my nails are really thick and the manicure looks terrible. When I left I was so disappointed and I had shellac all over my hands.I ended up receiving the most uncomfortable and awful shellac manicure I have ever paid for. This girl needs a tutorial on customer service and apparently on shellac manicures.

I decided to have all of my bridesmaids, both mothers, flower girl, and myself get hair and makeup done at The Retreat for my wedding a few weeks ago. All of our hair was good (mine fell 30 minutes after I walked down the isle because it wasnt secured in the back and the overall look wasnt flattering or exciting. My fault though).The makeup applications were extremely disappointing. Three of the bridesmaids actually washed their faces after and reapplied their own makeup. I wish I could have done so but they ran way over my time and I would have been late to the church. Eyeliner that was uneven and that stopped before the end of my lashes, foundation shades too light for our bodies, and cakey powder were the main complaints. I had dark shadow way to high on my eyelid and told her I didnt want dark shadow to begin with. Drew, my makeup artist, had me select a lip color without applying it which ended looking terrible. Shouldnt she pick since shes the trained artist?I dont want to see any of my wedding pictures because of the awful makeup application. In the future I may go for a trim since my hair stylist was great and even came to the church for makeup touch ups... There wasnt time for a complete overhaul though.Pictures, descriptions, and feedback did not help me or any of my bfridesmaids with their makeup and I feel awful because the services are not inexpensive and I cant redo my photos. Really disappointing.

My fiance suprised me with a full spa day and added on a full hair color for my birthday. My hair was dry so the colorist told me she could only highlight it and tone it. She literally refused to color my hair. I received a partial partial highlight which I have never heard of and did not pay for. My hair color came out absolutely horrible. She wanted me to wear my hair home in a wet braid when she knew I had people coming in from out of town for my birthday dinner. The color is supposed to come with a blow out and style and when I asked her to do it she had a attitude and just blow dried my hair. I had no chice but to wear it up in a clip for dinner because of the oily products she used. She insisted that I buy their shampoo & conditioner which I did to help tone my hair. She claimed I needed to get my hair completely cut to atleast my shoulder due to the dryness. I went home and used a deep conditioner and my hair is completely fine. I paid $125 for a deluxe manicure and pedicure that wound up being worse then my hair. I did not recieve any massage on my hands or feet. My finger nails were a completely different shade of red than my toenails. She cut my nails very short and shaped them horribly. I requested shallac and it began chipping days after my nails were done. She also repeatedly talked to her co-worker about her next client arriving early so she was definitely rushing to get done. I only received an upper body massage when I paid for a full body massage. She told me if I pay for a full hour instead of 30 mins she could do the full body. I called to discuss what happened and when I talked to the owner he was extremley rude. He told me that it was my fault for how my hair came out from using box dye. I have never used box dye on my hair and I dont see what that has to do with anything. Then he said she would have done more but money was an issue for me and that is why she didnt. If money was an issue my fiance would not have spent over $400 on a spa day for my birthday. It was a very rude comment that was irrelevant. Should women with less money be treated differently by your salon? I was completely shocked that he offered no resolution to the issues I had. I will never return to this spa. I left looking worse then I did when I came in and literally in tears by the whole situation. My birthday was ruined when this should have been a romantic suprise to always remember.
