I absolutely love Henne Hardware. They always have what Im looking for and the energy of the building itself is amazing. When my grandchildren came to visit we had to stop in and they loved the collection of toys, many that you cant find other places. The people there always treats us like family. Overall: Great selection, great vibes, and awesome people. One of my favorite places in New Braunfels!

I just walked in - and I thought I was in hardware store from 60 yrs ago. Has every hardware item and more - sales lady was real nice, friendlyand helpful. I bought a Texas motif hummingbird feeder.

The CDC does not recommend mask wearing indoors. Please kindly consider updating your policies.Now thats out of the way, why should I shop small and support mom and pop businesses when the experience is so bad?! I wont any longer, especially when I can go to Home Depot, get everything I need and more for less than half the prices here and not be forced to wear a mask.

Owner is horrible. Treated my wife badly. Love this old building but will never spend another dollar here until hes gone. I live real close, too bad.

Extremely rude owner - adorable shop. Had no problem yelling at me and taking all his anger out on me and making me cry after asking him a simple question related to the shop. No excuse for his behavior and it seems to be a common complaint.

Walked in the store, the owner was behind a counter wrapping what I thought was a piece of glass with brown paper and tape. No one around him. I proceeded approach him to ask if they carry an item. He full on yelled at me!! “Can’t you see I’m busy?!!! Don’t interrupt me!!! Why does everyone keep interrupting me?!!! I just want to wrap this!!!” He yelled at me so load the other 5 customers who were in the store just looked over at me. I walked over to the lady working with another customer. The customer whispered to me, “He is always like that” Well, I found what I was looking for, took it up to the counter where the owner was who had now moved to the register. He did try to half way apologize, but making excuses. He had a bad day. Guess what, I had a bad day too. He just made it worse! Not an excuse to yell at a customer for asking a question. I will definitely not ever go back there to give them my business. Will stick with Home Depot and Lowes. Worst experience in retail ever!

Found a bulb for a very old handheld slide viewer at Henne’s Hardware after going to Lowe’s, Auto Zone and another independent hardware store. The service was great as well. Thank you for being our independent hardware store.

Old country store, down home people, down home prices. Owner very knowledgable and witty.You need it, they got it! The smell takes me back to when I was a kid. WONDERFUL! They have parts and bolts, cents on the dollar.They also have a knife sharping expert. They make keys as well. This is a for sure stop if you are in need for home improvement, plumbing, or if you are looking for that curio gift. ❤👍👍👍👍👍I give this place 5 thumbs up and five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!

New Braunfels is great but...avoid Henne Hardware as the owners attitude is rude and unfriendly, and does not care how badly you are treated by the staff or by him. Hurts the other businesses by giving an unwelcoming and snarky impression of New Braunfels.

This stores 1890s building still has original signage and furnishings. It is a real look at the past, and they also sell classic toys like 1950s robots.

I have always gone here. The place is is personable. Treat you like family. I needed to get a copy of my key made but my babies were asleep in the car. I called and asked if I could just hand them the key and wait outside and sure no problem! Thanks!

Went and came with a bad feeling that the old person, he may be the owner who knows. But was rude and a bit hateful. Maybe he doesnt like people . What ever. Good idems bad service.

EXTREMELY RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL. Older woman who works here literally MOCKED me for a health condition. Owner DID NOT CARE. There are a million places you can buy hardware from, why give your money to unkind folks who are hurting all other downtown businesses because of their unfriendly attitude?

Rude employees, specifically the older man. I will never give them my money again. I have attempted to purposely shop there to help during tough times but after being treated the way I was, Ill never go back, and I will tell all my friends and family to not shop at this location as well. Very rude older man yelled at me, and this wasnt the first time. And both times it was over a subject he brought up, I didnt approach him. I tried to avoid him the second time, but couldnt. Its a cool store but Im not going to be subjected to a vendor berating me while Im shopping. The younger fellow who worked for the old man (second trip) was very helpful. I wont go back. What a miserable old man. I feel sorry for him, but I have boundaries.

I read the reviews and I was hoping to meet the rude old man, he was described perfectly in every bad review about him, I went looking for a fitting for a hose I damaged. The old man gave me a hard time because I didnt know exactly what I was looking for. When it was all said and done he got me just what I was looking for, I also received a few lessons in basic hardware. I love this place, I would rather give them my money before Home Depot or Lowes

Really interesting old school hardware shop. They have many things you will not find anywhere else. The staff their has always gone out of their way to help me locate an item to solve whatever problem has got me there in the first place. If they dont have what I need the staff is always willing to give a helpful word of advice from their own experiences. Good guys there.

One of the longest-running businesses, and most well know, too. With good reason! They are still, to this day, one if the very best businesses in New Braunfels! Even if you dont need anything from a hardware store, you will still enjoy visiting.

Limited parallel parking in front, generous parking in back. Old time hardware store from a century ago, absolutely gorgeous! AND if I cant find something anywhere else Hennes always has it! Really neat place just to visit even if you dont need anything, sort of like stepping into the past.

Absolutely love this store.. However, I will not be going back in. As much as I love this place and all it has to offer, it seems like the owner does not like it, nor does he want to be there any more. Its almost sad because this place is such a historic icon for this town and should always remain.. preferably in the family, but I just dont think that will happen.

I absolutely love how this old hardware store has some of the original items in it. They used to send the orders to the back of the store on cables. They have marked the old items so that you can read about how they were used. You can still purchase hardware items here. Anyone coming to visit the downtown New Braunfels area should stop in here for sure.

Such a fun old hardware store

A locally owned hardware store in a historic area of New Braunfels. Great selection of tools, hardware, and even some fun gifts. I love to come here for all of my hardware store needs. This place has been here a long time, but I worry that with the changes going on in downtown New Braunfels, it is becoming too expensive for Henne to stay here. I hope they can find a way to swing it! They need local support!

Visited this store for the first time today..1/27/16. The cash cable system (unhappily no longer in operation) reminded me of similar systems used in hardware stores more than half a century ago. Will return next Christmas time. Spotted something to fascinate my great grandson.

It’s an organized hardware store with just the right amount of stuff.

It’s like stepping back in time! The smell of the room, the creak in the floor, the retro toys in the display case...What a special treat this hardware store is.

The old man that works there is literally the rudest person I have ever met. He will scream at the top of his lungs at you if you do anything he doesn’t like. I will never buy anything from there or support a local business who treats people that way and I encourage you to do the same.

This store alone is worth the drive to New Braunfels. Original counter, displays and a massive amount of reasonably priced items that cant be found elsewhere. Will return!
