As a relatively new quilter located in the San Antonio area, I have now located and visited all of the quilting shops within a 300 mile radius. And there is only one store that I will never set foot in again; The Quilt Haus.My first visit was in October, 2020. I was excited to see it since it was one of the rare stores open on Sunday. I entered and although I could identify three employees and no visible customers, I was never greeted. One employee was standing near the door but never looked up from her task. As I slowly moved through the store to the back, looking at the fabrics, I was never acknowledged, however there was plenty of chatter between the employees. They loudly discussed one employees lousy in-laws and all the associated family drama.I selected some clearance fabrics and brought the bolts to the cutting table. And the first words uttered to me on this first visit (after 20 minutes) were, You know, theres a minimum 1 yard cut on our sale fabrics. Now that the ice was broken, I anticipated an easier time communicating with an employee, but it never happened. I browsed some more, paid for my fabrics and left without ever having even the slightest conversation.Three visits occurred after that, because I try not to form an opinion too soon, and I now regretfully report that the greetings and congenial conversation never once occurred. The employees on all four occasions were either busy, having their own loud, non-business-related conversations, or in a very lousy mood. The store itself is large, and filled with lots of fabric choices. What leaves me cold about this is the eerie and ineffective florescent lighting from high above, and the uninspired presentation overall. Its simply bolts on shelves. No great displays of fabric collections to spark an idea, no interesting relics to hold notions, No fun. No Wow. Just fabrics bolts. Front to back. Which I interpret to be representative of the owner/employees level of creativity and talent.Recently I attended my very first weekend quilting retreat. Lo and behold, it turns out that several others at that retreat had very similar experiences at The Quilt Haus and no longer shop there. They had lots of good things to say about other shops, but were adamant that The Quilt Haus was no longer a store they would shop in.So overall, a visit to The Quilt Haus, when compared to a visit to the many other fine quilt stores in this area, is not a pleasure. On all four occasions my visits were disappointing, surprisingly consistent in their lack of customer service, and simply as joyless as their employees. Note to Owner: No matter how much fabric inventory you sink your capital in, if your staff is rude, uncaring, and tempermental, youre throwing your good money away. I will continue to funnel my loads of quilting dollars to stores who are far more deserving.
The ladies at the Quilt Haus went above and beyond to help us. They stayed late and showed so much patience and compassion for us during a difficult time. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and may God bless you and your business.
Great establishments, found everything I was looking for. Staff very helpful, they will definitely take care of you in what youre looking for. I was also wondering what type of font they used on the outside. I want some of those too.
Always a great experience! Wonderful fabric selection...friendly employees...I always look forward to visiting again!
Awesome..lots of equipment..classes..fabric.. sample quilts ..thread and any accessories you need
An amazing quilt shop! They have a wide variety of fabric and the empolyees are always very helpful. I love walking through the store and getting ideas from the quilts hung on the wall. havent taken any of their classes, but I have only heard good things!
The worst customer service I have ever received! Rude store clerks! Wasnt worth the drive ! Will continue purchasing my fabric online!
Always helpful. Huge selection of modern fabrics.
Had my machine checked out here and David spent several minutes working on it with me to diagnose an issue. Looks like the store has a great selection of beautiful quilt fabric and new machines as well.
I loved shopping here while in town on vacation last summer. The ladies were very nice and helpful. I was amazed at their inventory too.
I purchased a Row By Row kit in the beginning of July 2019. I was told that they did not have the pattern for it because the owner had a death in the family. Due to the death, they had not had a chance to prepare the pattern but they had a list to sign up for an email once the pattern was ready. I repeatedly called for months waiting for the pattern and was always told the same story. Eventually they offered to refund my money but that was not an option because I dont live close to the shop and had made a special trip initially. Its sad that the employee were so friendly but the owner wasted my time and money and I was left with materials that I didnt have a pattern to do anything with.
Fabulous quilt shop with exceptional stock of fabrics. Very friendly and helpful staff. Visited during the 2019 Bluebonnet Shop Hop and had a blast! Cant wait to visit again!
Great working with people who know the needs of their customers.
I wandered around this shop for several minutes and was never spoken to. There were 2 clerks helping what appeared to be two friends. Even after both customers left, the older clerk walked right past me twice and never said one word. Nor did the younger clerk speak to me. I now understand the negative reviews.
You can find just about any type of material and various supplies. Staff is very friendly and helpful
Huge selection of cotton fabrics, books, & elastic. They have the newest designer fabrics.
An exceptional place if you quilt!!
Love this quilt shop! I live in San Antonio and prefer to make the drive to come here. Shirley makes all my trips there worthwhile!
Terrible customer service! Dont use the sewing machine repair services! My elderly mother took her machine here for repair. After 3 months of tinkering, they informed her they could not fix it. They returned it to us in pieces. Thankfully they did not charge us but they kept my mother from accessing her machine for far too long with lots of excuses. Evidently the technician had too much to do or needed more time to figure it out.We took it to AllBrands and were informed the parts ordered by Quilt Haus were the wrong ones and the machine had actually been dropped which had to have occurred while at Quilt Haus. When I contacted Quilt Haus, the owner basically ignored our concerns and was not even apologetic. The technician that worked on the machine was not certified by Brother. I highly recommend you dont use the machine repair services.
Wanted to buy a new sewing machine. Went to store three times, none of the staff asked if they could help me. They are obviously not interested in helping their potential customers. Staff spent the time I was in there talking about the new home one of them had just purchased. I gave up and went to Sew Little Time and purchased a Bernina from them instead.
The people where friendly and helpful! And the fabric is excellent quality!
Friendly and helpful staff!! A great selection of fabrics with a dedicated sale room! a wonderful selection of quilting machines and frames.
