Its a fast paced place which helps and hurts the business. I do like that you bring it in one day you get it back that same day. At least for most situations. Prices are usually reasonable an if anything cheaper then any other auto shop but at the same time be careful. Make sure they do work on your yr make and model, also what ever you actually need done, cause there biggest issue is that they only do under the car work. So anything directly under the hood most likely they wont do an thats their biggest downfall.

Finally, I found an auto workshop/mechanics that are working with honesty. Nowadays, most auto mechanics do not like customers bringing their own parts. As a result, the customer gets ripped off, unknown of what kind of parts were used in their vehicle.But, I found this place very different. The workers were so welcoming and polite. I went there to weld my broken muffler (I have removed the muffler myself and I just needed the welding). Most of the other auto mechanics would have taken it as losing an opportunity to rip off the customer. But, the guy there welded the muffler for $40 which was fair enough for 15-20 minutes of work.I asked them about their rates of working on a car. It is $20 for the oil and filter change (you bring your own stuff), and $50 for brake pad replacement. Buying your own parts and having them replace would be far cheaper than the average cost in the auto repair workshop.I would definitely refer more friends to this place.

Excellent mechanics, friendly service, busy but the wait for my car to get in and then finished wasnt too long. Plus it was more entertaining to watch than I thought it would be. Also, less expensive to replace my catalytic converter than it couldve been.

I went there because my car wasnt accelerating correctly and giving a weird noise whenever I trying to accelerate fast in my car. I had an inspection done and I found out that I had an exhaust leak. So I took it to A American mechanic place, and they found out that the converter was clogged. So they took out the clogged converter and replaced a new one. After that my car was accelerating normally and faster. I highly recommend this place if you have any problems that includes a clogged up converter. Oh and BTW, if you want to have whatever you want done quickly, come early because if you come here later on in the day, youll see a bunch of long lines, but trust me, itll be worth the wait.

A friend recommended this place, so I took mr car because i had an exhaust leak. Im glad I listened to my friend, these guys are fast and affordable unlike other shop that charge an arm a leg. I HIGHLY recommend this place

These guys are great. Came in had my flex pipe AND catalytic converter replaced for 330$. No appointment necessary. That price is insanely cheap. And that coming from someone who has been a salesman at 2 major muffler shops, who would have charged close to triple that.

Brought my car in for exhaust work. They did exactly what I asked. Found 3 connection leaks and a section of pipe replaced. Car is 17 years old. Monroe muffler wanted to put in whole exhaust system for 1300.00. 160.00 and 1 hour later i had what sounded very quiet running car. Excellent work. They open at 9am get there early.

A American Muffler and Brake turned out to be wonderful. The muffler repair was really a repair and not expensive replacement that would have happened had I gone almost anywhere else. The technician used a Sawzall to cut out the blown coupler, cut off a length of pipe, arc welded it in place, tested it very carefully and done! Its the kind of repair that one no longer sees in our replace everything economy. First class!

The exhaust system had a crack at the edge of catalytic converter and the gentleman was able to weld the crack saving me hundreds. Now it sounds quiet like when I bought it from the dealership years ago!

These guys are simply amazing. After getting a price of $1400 from Midas for wanting to replace just about the entire exhaust system, I went to these guys and only needed a simple way to attach two pipes together. The owner shouted over to me $100 dollars to do the job. Very smart man came up with a way to do the job which required some fabrication and skill with a welder. Very smart guys there and extremely fair and honest. I will always come here from now on for whatever vehicle I own

Great experience. The lines may be a little long depending on when you go, but they do each job really fast. It took like 25 minutes to cut out and weld in a new piece. They are pretty good with creating a line for service. Great service and well priced.

I have to agree with most of the reviews on this site. Great prices, very fast service. They will do just what you need, or just what you ask them to do. There were four cars ahead of me, and I was still in & out with a catalytic converter replacement in just under 90 minutes. My Honda dealer wanted $1000 for the job. I bought an after-market converter for $189 and American installed it for $70.As for the language issues, I had none. We figured it out. If you are anti-immigrant, just go somewhere else, dont complain about people making a good living doing good work.

Went in to get a muffler delete on my G35 only was charged 90 bucks for them to cut off the muffler and weld new piping. Highly recommend but get there early to beat the line

Very unfriendly owner/mechanic. And you cant understand what he is saying. I dont expect immigrants to be fluent in English, but every shop should have at least one person who can communicate with the costumers. Although I decided not to use their service, they have lots of customers. Apparently the prices are good. They have so many customers, they dont need your business and they let you know that.

Let me start by saying this place looks like a real dive. English is only spoken here as a second language. If you know Chinese or Spanish youre good. So it is hard to get in line to be served. Let me just say that once you get in this is the best muffler place ever. I ended up paying $50 to have a bracket changed out. The guy told me he saw this all the time in this sort of car. My mechanic told me to go there since he would have had to change out the whole muffler, for about $500, something Meineke would certainly charged $1000 for. Ill go back here for any future muffler issues. By the way, the whole service took about 15 minutes.

I didnt have a lot of money to fix my exhaust. I bought the part aftermarket and they made it work for a very reasonable labor rate. Im a former auto mechanic and they actually did a better job than the method that we discussed. Now when the rest of my exhaust eventually rots out, I can just bolt on an aftermarket muffler. Wallace was the technician that did the job and I was very impressed with the results

They put Dynomax racing bullets on my Hemi, took like 20/30 mins. Friendly fair good business people, make sure you get there early. I arrived at 830 thinking that was good enough, nope! Arrive early or wait but it’s worth the wait.

I showed up before the shop opened. Upon arrival a guy Sak immediately took my car in and put on the lift. I was originally there to get a second opinion about a catalytic converter attached to the manifold on my 2008 Lexus GS 350. I delt with the embarrassing noise for almost a year, dreading the first estimate from another shop that was going to run me $1000. Sak(L) pointed out the problems, cut and bended 2 new pipes and welded them. When he started the car the noise that drove me crazy was gone. I was ecstatic!! Only cost me $180 in less than a hour the job was done!!!!. I was so excited had to give him extra! I keep starting my car up just to hear the smooth start up! This is the best Muffler shop in New Haven area hands down! THANK YOU!!!!

I had an exhaust pipe half broken due to a bad hanger that fell apart. Monro wanted $850.00 (with special discount), they told me they needed to replace the entire exhaust.I went to American on Whalley and they patched it up while I waited for $70.00 and that was 8 months ago.No problems!!I highly advise looking into.

Good place for Mufllers, brakes, exhaust, and undercarriage work. Make sure they say specifically what part you need for your vehicle.

I havent needed a muffler replaced in a decade or more, but my memory of the experience is that the chain muffler shops insist on replacing everything from the catalytic converter back, you sit in a terrible waiting room, if youre lucky, for two hours, and it ends up costing half a months wages. American Muffler Brake is different. In and out with a new muffler in ten minutes, on a Sunday, when everyone else is closed. A hundred bucks. No song and dance. If I ever need another muffler, thats where Ill go.
