Very high quality cuts and sausages. Even fresh seafood too. The store always has other things that catch my eye too, coffee, cocktail fixings, cheeses, etc. Love that this place is in our neighborhood!

The best meat and poultry in town! Even the ground beef makes outstanding burgers. Pricey... but exceptional.

Great quality of food and customer service.

Provisions on State is a great place to get everything that you need for a meal. They also have coffee, pastries, bagels and sandwiches. I have tried a few of their sandwiches of the day, and they are creative and so delicious!All of their meat is fresh, locally and sustainably raised. You can request whatever cut you would like, and if you have any questions, their butchers, Zach and Jared, can answer them. Their selection of produce is fresh and a lot of their produce is local (shout out to the hen of the woods mushrooms that we got that were foraged locally). So glad that New Haven finally has a local butcher shop!

Provisions is a welcome and much needed addition to the neighborhood. I could write an entire review just on their sandwiches of the week (Go get one! Right now!). The folks running the shop are kind and knowledgeable- especially on their exceptional selection of meat and fish. Stop in for a simple New York Strip or let Zach, the head butcher teach you about the dozens of different cuts you didn’t know existed. You’ll walk out with high quality ingredients to make an unforgettable meal. I recommend Provisions if you’re just treating yourself or cooking for a special occasion- it’s worth every penny. How you not give a five to the only REAL butcher shop in all of New Haven County. I found them after going to butchers as far north as Guilford. I was looking for suet and sweetbreads. I am sooo happy to have found them. Thank God for them. Good gourmet cooking is still possible thanks to Provisions on State!

Small shop but quality products and helpful staff

Do you have money to burn? Are you the CIA needing to fill out the budget? Have you just won the lottery? Well this is the store for you. Decent products at an outrageous price. Never in a million years did I think a pound of bacon, two pounds of sirloin, and some produce would be 175 dollars. Pictured below for reference. Had a mild heart attack as I stumbled out. One and done for us. Just insane price. Even the next day I’m blown away. Had to write this warning for others.

Highly curated butcher & market with old school vibes...the guys working the counter were incredibly helpful and the market had everything else I needed to put together an epic meal with the best ingredients. Can’t wait to go back, great addition to the neighborhood!!
