DO NOT go here for notary services! The notary public on staff refused to notarize my documents due to a ‘wording’ issue, even after I double checked everything with my lawyer. He had no idea what he was talking about and refused service. It also costs $5 per signature. Go to the Wells Fargo in downtown to get something notarized- they are polite, knowledgeable, and don’t charge.
Let’s start with the positive point. They actually did their job eventually.Now... the customer experience couldn’t be more disastrous. If you’re okay with being “lectured” (being called “not nice” and “unprofessional” for forgetting stuff) about how to manage your amazon stickers and such, maybe it’s a good ups store. However, if you’re expecting smiles, patience, and assistance, don’t go there!
Great UPS Store! One of the better ones.Always Friendly, Quick Service, and Helpful.Clean and organized store.
Without a doubt, the worst UPS store I’ve ever been to. Management is flat-out rude, uninterested in helping customers and the place is a mess. Go elsewhere, not worth wasting your time.
I have to say that every time Ive had to use this UPS store Ive gotten great service. Ive shipped personally owned musical equipment of from hundreds to thousands of dollars worth and recently a Sony Professional camera worth 20K. The waits have been reasonable and the patient, thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly service they have provided has been a tremendous comfort when so much of your personal resources are on the line. Most recently, Mr. Singh took a great deal of time investing attention to my parcel resulting in the very secure and timely delivery of very valuable and fragile items. Others who have rated the store differently typically complain about the rising cost of shipping which the predominantly student population of Yale would likely be sensitive about, but that reflects these students moderate resources and not the actual competitiveness of the sites pricing. I have always received competent and thoughtful service here otherwise I would go elsewhere! I trust these people and they have shown me nothing but consistent kindness and efficiency. Keep it up!!!!
A bit of a chore to set up a mailbox, but once youve done so, super convenient and easy. The one staffer usually around when we picked up our mail was friendly. However ... once your mailbox expires, good luck closing it out and setting up forwarding. Prepare yourself for: a months-long process, apparently; chasing the staff repeatedly for the initial forms (which will ultimately be sent via email without any fee or payment information whatsoever); multiple separate email threads with individual documents back and forth with address and credit card information; lack of clear instructions from the staff about the process at any point, followed by accusatory calls and voicemails when the forwarding isnt fully set up (because you did not magically know to ask them to take the next required step, which was in their court, to move the process along) -- you name it!While youre actually a customer, its honestly quite seamless and really handy, I was ready to leave a 5 star review once we moved away from NHV! But, set up your mailbox with more information than we had about the exit strategy -- come exceptionally prepared when its time to close out and be ready to chase them down every step of the way -- document everything and get the names of whoever you are dealing with, including whichever staffer is sending you emails from the general store email account without identifying themselves. If you, like us, are subject to a healthy dose of NHV porch piracy but dont have the time and schedule to wait on your porch to physically receive each package in person, then the trials of a UPS mailbox are a necessary evil that is: (1) more convenient than the post office and (2) able to accept a wider variety of packages than a standard USPS PO box. Just come prepared for the costs in terms of both $ and logistical headaches.
Its just OK and had to have my ups packages delivered there when I could no longer afford my po box. Service is usually slow.
I have used this location for a few years. Ive had a few bad experiences in the past, but lately there is a gentleman named Gilbert he freakin rocks!! Very polite, Courteous and extremely helpful.
They’re very helpful and respectful, great customer service.
Great service. Very helpful, friendly and efficient staff.
Sorry I forgot my mask. The guy at desk was nice enough to get the big box I had from the door and hand me the receipt
Great staff. Excellent customer service 👏
Awesome staff, answered a million questions and very kind.
$5.31 just to print a label that’s literally on a piece of printer paper. Rip off for students who are just visiting for a month or so. Mid you’re doing Amazon return just request it for $1.00
Lol $3.18 to put tape on a box. I definitely wont be coming to this location again. I will go the location in orange where they dont charge for tape and have better customer service. AVOID
This store is a scam. I paid $60 on Monday to have a letter delivered by next day mail to an office that is a 1 hr drive from this store. The clerk told me it would be delivered by Tuesday the next day at 8am. The package was not delivered until 7 DAYS LATER on Monday the following week. I went online to see UPS policies on getting a refund. The UPS policy is In the event UPS fails to attempt delivery within the time published on the UPS website, or as provided when 1-800-PICK-UPS® is called, UPS, at its option, will either credit or refund the transportation charges for each such shipment to the payer only, upon request, provided the conditions set forth in the UPS Service Guarantee are met. I called the 1800 number and was told I had to call the store. I called the store to request a refund. I was put on hold for 20 minutes. The gentleman who picked up the phone told me he would call me back in 10 to 15 minutes. He did not call me back. I went into the store the next day to request the refund. The clerk went into a back room to speak with a manager. He came back and told me that because of the Coronavirus UPS has no obligation to actually fulfill their promise that I paid $60 for. I PAID THIS COMPANY $60 TO DELIVER A LETTER TO A LOCATION THAT IS 1 HR AWAY FROM THEIR STORE. IT TOOK THEM 7 DAYS TO DELIVER IT. So I called the 1800 UPS number and asked for the procedure for filing a formal complaint. The person on the phone told me she would submit a complaint for me and someone would call me in an hour. I received a call from another lady who asked what my complaint was about. I explained to her and she told me to call the 1800 number because she could not do anything about it. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. I may not get my money back, but at least now I know never to go to this place again. Hopefully FEDEX and USPS conduct their business with integrity.
Great service and reasonable price .
This store charged me $20 to pick up two packages. Banana Republic and other online vendors give you the option of sending a package to a UPS store. There is no mention of any charge. When I called this location before picking up my Banana Republic packages, they told me there would be a $20 charge because I sent the packages to their address. I called Banana Republic, and they told me that they had never heard of any kind of pick up fee charged by any UPS store. The owners of this location are exploiting some kind of loophole that allows them to hold your packages hostage. In fact, one of the employees guessed that my order was from BRepublic/Gap/Old Navy, so this has happened before. If you send something to the post office or an amazon locker, its completely free. If you send a package to these thieves, they try to rob you of $20.
Everytime I walk into ups on dixwell, Im greeted by a wonderful, helpful man named Gilbert. He always takes care of everything I need in a timely manner. I come to this store because he works there! This is a wonderful place to print things and take care of all your shipping or office needs. Make sure you go in and ask for Gilbert! Such wonderful help, 5 stars for Gilbert! Thank you so much.
The person working at this location had clear covid symptoms, and still came to work.
Im pretty sure they got trained at the DMV. Only they arent quite as fast. I also was quite surprised when they charged the elderly fellow before me over $100 to send one present to Boston.
Going into this store was a refreshing experience compared to most stores nowadays. The employees didn’t make me feel like I was hassling them but rather I felt welcome the whole timeI was there. they were very helpful and had all the info I needed. Gilbert specifically was friendly and helped me out and the notary also was able to do everything I needed to get done.
Horrible ! The guy does notery in this place is absolutely bad behaving ! it dosent feel like he is trying to help the customer, it feels that he is doing some kind of favor to the customer by doing the notery (Though we pay for that) !! also not knowledgable, when i called and they didnt provide enough information on Identification documents to bring when i asked but still I took 3 identification documents with me, he didnt noterize my documents just not for having 2 identification documents with signature ( I had one). I am not angry that he didnt noterize my docs, Im angry because of the guys behaviour and not providing me the right information when I called the store before I arrived there...I would like to request UPS : please notice the reviews here, people are not happy with this center. Provide some good mannered representatives and also knowledgable ones, at least they know what they are doing and what information they are passing to the customers.
I wish you guys would be a little friendlier to your customers on the phone. I now wonder should I use your service s given this jerkish attitude. On a positive side, I thank you for answering all my questions.
This place charges $5 to print up to 4 pages and $3 to tape a box shut. It honestly seems ridiculous, Id completely avoid this place if possible.
I dont like to post bad reviews. Unfortunately, I really have to - i came in to print some papers and they made me wait 1.5 hours. None of the employees knew how to work the printer so they had to call someone else to drive over and do it. Ouch guys!
Poor service, especially in the early morning.
Gilbert was a calm and collected one man show. There were 6 people ahead of me and he powered through the line efficiently and was super friendly. Great spot & service.
Had my passport photo shooting done at the UPS Store. Gilbert was very patient, responsible and helpful, and ensured that my friend and I were indeed satisfied with our photos. Great service quality and attitude, appreciate it!
$14.56 to print out 8 pages, black and white. I was told it will only cost $3.99 for the first 5min of printer use, but apparently on top of that there is a charge per page. ridiculous.
$6 to put close my small box. Ridiculous!
Never had to wait too long, the people were professional and courteous, been there many times. Good place to ship your parcels!
5 dollars to print a return label is insane. I have my own box. No thanks. I could buy a bus ticket to where Im shipping this to and hand it off to them for less.Update: Had to return. Greeted only by rudeness again. Had a misunderstanding where one of my packages was able to be scanned and packed by UPS and one wasnt. Employee scanned my label and just kept repeating and repeating that Im doing it wrong and Im wrong and what she has is right and what I have is wrong. This is the 4th or 5th time Ive come here and every time has been a miserable experience. All you need to do is step in the door and theyll try to charge you $10. Miserable people.
The “lady” was very rude and Obnoxious Condescending and downright nasty
Convenient.
Best advice I can give is head to another UPS location. Horrible service (2x) by one of the male associates working at this location.
I have always had good service here (ship 4-8 times here per year for the past few years), in contrast to some other reviewers. Once, they event went above and beyond to help me with a box that was poorly packed (my fault), and found a really great solution that saved me a ton of money.
I went there to print out 7 pages of documents. I used their computer for not more than 3 minutes. The cost was $7.89. What a rip off. They are just good to drop off the Amazon return. Disgusting services!
The staff at this location is VERY RUDE!! 2x i had a bad experience with the folks at this location..the 1x was in the store when i went to go ship my package off and today over the phone with the store manager. the way yall speak and treat your customers is Very Very disrespectful and unprofessional!! I wouldnt advise anyone to do any kind of business with them!!
Worst service ever! Manjit was very very rude telling me well is 2.99 to print a label I said is fine it doesn’t matter and he said again well it’s 2.99 do you have it? Talking to me like I don’t have the money to pay for the service. You guys need better employees with better service in the New haven CT
I shipped two chairs to California from this location and no one told me that by shipping them in the same box it was oversized. I was charged an additional $3,000.00 from ups due to the package size (the chairs were only 11lbs each). I had walked into the store to drop it off and even had it weighed at the counter. Still, no one thought to tell me I’d be charged thousands of dollars by shipping them together. I would hope a store would find it necessary to point this enormous fee before accepting an oversized package. Very disappointed in how they conduct their business. I feel cheated and robbed and will avoid UPS at all costs and most definitely not return to this location.
Gilbert was great and very helpful!!! I’ll visit this store anytime. Customer service 🙌🏾😘
This store is an EMBARRASSMENT. The day before yesterday I went to the Milford UPS to return a package, and it was fantastic. The man printed out my return label for me via email, charged $2.96 and said have a great day. Yesterday, however, at the New Haven store it was the total opposite. The African-American girl said she couldn’t print out my label and that it would probably cost more even if she could. So I go on the computer, get charged $3.18 for doing it myself. BUT lonebehold it wasn’t $3.18, looking at my back account now I have been charged $10! To print out a label? Are you kidding me? I call the store today, and a man with a thick Indian accent answers. He has no patience for my situation, screams at me, and hangs up in my face. I call back to speak to a manager, he says he’s the only one working and that other people’s problems were more concerning than my own. Hangs up again. I don’t know even know what his explanation was or what he was saying, between his accent and the screaming I was confused and angered. I called corporate to file a formal complaint, I hope that this store doesn’t let me down AGAIN.
I came to the specific location because I love to support community owned and minority businesses. Anytime I need copies, faxes ECT. I come here. The papers that were faxed to me came in blank and had to be re faxed. I was charged for the blank pages. When I told him the blank pages were of no benefit to me in a calm manner. He began to raise his voice and even move his hands. I told him to calm down and I really needed the papers, so I paid. I paid $6 for 3 3 pieces of paper. He is on the heart of Yale University, it wasnt necessary. I have sent so many people to that location. However, they have lost my business.
Gilbert was great customer service, always friendly and very helpful.
DO NOT USE THEIR PO BOX SERVICES! They literally stole my money. Not nice and not responsive at all - they just stopped answering my emails so I had to come by especially.
This is not a regular UPS Store. The store owner may ship via UPS but the service exceeds anything I have experienced before. Staff interaction is unusually personal and professional. Staff are committed to taking enough time for each customer to advise without slowing things down.I shipped several items here including a heavy professional grade espresso machine that needed double boxing/crating. I was advised via personal email and phone calls about the shipping recommendations after drop off, the receiving party had ample time to discuss with this store how to best ship it and how to break down the different contents. We were both updated timely about packaging, weighing and shipping. Quote and handling left all other professional shipping, crating and moving companies in the larger area in the dust although this UPS store was our last resort.
They lost my package and they need better Customer service skills it is also a convenient location for me
The store is easy to get to from downtown and plenty of parking. The staff have always been super helpful and friendly. It is my go to shipping outlet and the new store is gorgeous.
Although this UPS Store is a bit out of the way for me, I would prefer going back to this one than the one by Yale (which is a nightmare to go to). I received great (albeit a bit slow) customer service. Unfortunately the store is not immediately recognizable from the outside, meaning I passed it the first time around.
The owners have no concept of other peoples lives: most people get off work between 4 and 5, so youre gonna have a rush at closing. They get extremely overwhelmed and the owners are extremely rude to their employees. The husband gets overwhelmed and snippy, the wife told me to leave packages without paying for postage. Interesting duo to watch if youre not in a rush.Definitely pad and tape your own packages--youll pay upwards of $20 if they do it for you. Go in the morning, since thats when theyre capable of functioning with any sense of customer service. I only ever go when I have a lot of time, so it doesnt frustrate me, but Ive seen a lot of peoples days get ruined at this place.
The owner is a great man and I have never had a problem in the store.
The employees are polite.
Lacking knowledge to be able to properly service you.
Great and quick service
I mailed over 35 packages in my move to LA and the manager, Manjit Singh, did an EXCELLENT JOB of making sure that all my precious art was packaged well. Not one framed piece of art was damaged in the move! I could not be happier!
Great service, reasonable price, friendly staff!
The worst place to ship from. Poor customer service, rude staff and always trying to rip you off. I went there to buy a box and they told me $50.00 all together. I ask him what all together, I am getting the box only. He weighted the item that I was shipping even though I didnt ask him and he added charges for tape and bubbles and said $50. I told him to charge me for the box and I paid the $5. He wasnt happy that I didnt have him do the packing for me. He also said you cant pack anything in here which I wasnt going to do anyway.Stay away from that store. Dont take the chance.
They messed up my pick up order by printing a label saying i dropped it off. I had to void it out and redo the whole thing after hours on the phone with the 1800 number. When the driver came today, he still didnt have label, so i called the store to ask if they could check to see if my package was in the store. When i asked to speak to manager he took my number and claimed the line was out the door. He never called me back. So it now looks like Im out some VERY senimental items from my dead grandfather as well as a several thousand dollar computer. Ive been on the phone today with ups for about 6 hours and have been given the run around from every rep.
Rude, no help to costumer what soever. Any other ups store u can get help for free such as printing label or simply scanning you barcode but this manager looking funny guy always wanna charge you with the stuff which they are always free in any other ups store!
Almost five dollars to print a single letter size page. Never coming back. Beware.
Just the worst. Manjit is an absolutely terrible owner/manager. I had a very expensive and admittedly complicated overseas package sent from this store. The package sat in UPS Germanys warehouse for 11 days while on its way to another country. Manjit, UPS international, and UPS Germany all gave me different stories for what the problem was. Ultimately it was revealed by UPS Germany that this store botched the label even after speaking with the UPS Hazmat team directly. When I came to request a refund or partial refund he offered no recourse and didnt own up to what his own UPS colleague had written was his mistake. I contacted UPS corporate customer service who just sent him back to me. Manjit called me, again with no suggested recourse or admission that he got anything wrong, and then hung up when I asked again for a refund!DO NOT USE THIS STORE. Maybe they could handle a postcard. Maybe. But why bother? Go somewhere else. Fedex on Whitney seems good.
Inexpensive compare to FedEx at Whitney, little slower than FedEx. people are friendly, they do public notary, very helpful!
The employees staffed are very rude and unwilling to help with issues. Just overall very lazy.
Absolutely unacceptable service. Completely unprofessional. Do not use them if at all possible.
Easy drop off, friendly staff!
I just went there today to drop off a textbook I ordered for one of my classes. Im not sure if it was the manager she is an Indian lady with long hair. she was very rude to all the customers, the customer service Was horrible, and she was yelling at the employees in front of everyone. the way she was treating the customers and the employees was horrible and something needs to be taken into action because many people told her something about her attitude.no matter what your position is you should never embarrass your workers especially not in front of customers that was very wrong.
I paid for 2 day shipping I went to track my package it said that its being held for another day. Highly disappointed I had to file a complaint what I ordered was well needed which was my purpose of getting 2 day shipping. I waited in the house all day for my package not to show up.
Over one year ago this store mishandled a package with goods for a client. The package ended up getting lost and I put in a claim with UPS national who then told me to follow up with the store. I tried several times to do that (even stopping by in person twice) and was given the run-around each time. To this day I dont know what ever happened to my package OR what the status of my claim is. Ill never use this New Haven store again and always try not to use UPS at all.
I just called and got hung up on by one of the employees after respectfully asking about notary services.
Nice enough to tape up my amazon return without charging. Thanks!
I barely, if at all, make time to write a review, but made an exception for this store to let everyone know how rude these people are. This center is notorious for ripping you off your money and treating the customer with a horrible attitude.
Worst service ever.Be aware, they charge $32 for just pack a suitcase. I had my own prepaid label from Amazon. I need to return the merchandise but lost the box. This people ripped me off and made me pay. They packed and then charged me for it ....Go to another UPS store, most places do it for free and at least tell you in advance the price.Tengan cuidado son unos estafadores, te cobran de más . 10 dólares por cinta, 12 por un pedazo de papel que pusieron adentro y 12 por la caja que entra una maleta.
Manjit was lovely and efficient!
I was asked to go the a different place but I didnt realize that. The younger people here are relatively fine but dont know much about shipment and UPS system, you have to told them everything from what you learn on-line. The manager here (I guess), is really impatient and dont know how to answer the questions in a right manner. I had bad impression for this store. would rather drive to other store in the different town or go to fedex. Never back
Horrible customer service
Very bad customer service. If you can do somewhere else with your money please go somewhere else. These people treat you as if your beneath them...If you don’t need your job you should quit, if you need it, you work for someone as most of us do, that is someone’s business your ruining.
Extremely unreliable. Payed for 2 day delivery and it was held back and extremely delayed. Was told I was going to receive my package at 3 PM. It is now 6 PM and the truck is “almost there” and has been for about 3 hours. Will try to avoid using UPS from now on.
Staff is nice and packages are always east to pick up.
Friendly and fast service. Apparently they also do DHL
Fast pleasant and courteous from multiple visits
If they cant find my package, when its at their office then what can you expect... Made me go back and forth.
Worst UPS, horrible customer service. The UPS in the westville area is much quicker and has better customer care
The employees here are not helpful at all, they answer your questions in yes or no. Seems as if they’re forced to be at this location.
I went there today to leave the box, they told me my box does not qualify, because the edges were crushed and I had to buy a box there 10 $ and also had a charge of $ 5 for giving me the box (basic sv nr)
Very poor customer service. Staff is disrespectful and the information is misleading.
Gilbert is the BEST STORE ASSOCIATE EVER!!!!
Horrible. I would give 0 stars if I could. Both of the owners are rude to customers and employees. They are both selfish and ignorant. UPS needs to shut this place down. Stay far away and go to the one on Amity Rd if you can.
Prices are ridiculous one copy .27cent black and white
Rude phone service, deferred me to customer service and didnt ask for my tracking number to see if they had a package of mine.
This place sucks. Drive out of your way if you have to go somewhere else.
Not on time. It opens at 8am and is 8:05 no one is there yet. Unacceptable.
Great service
Poor customer service.
Friendly. Professional. Very clean. Off street parking.
It was very promising.
Incredibly rude owner
Cool and nice and easy
Incredibly unhelpful over the phone
