I loved this store! You must go browse just to see the unique pieces. Gal at front door kind of stern but I get it. Expensive but cool experience. Check it out.

Review №3

I am not one to write reviews often. However; after having had an incredibly negative experience I thought I should sit down and write a review of Antiques de Provence on 623 Royal Street in New Orleans. My husband and I were shopping in the French Quarter looking for decorative pieces for our home. We wandered into Antiques de Provence to look around and I was drawn to some antique books. I asked if they were actual antique books as some stores decorate furniture pieces with fake antique books and was told that yes they were. The proprietor then followed with “and they are not for sale”. When I asked where she got them, as I had been looking for an antique book dealer she replied “France”. I mistakenly thought she had said “Franks” and asked where franks was located. “It’s a little place between Italy and Spain”, she replied in a very condescending tone. I explained that I had misheard her I asked where exactly she got the books and she rudely replied again France. I said yes, but where in France. Do you just find them here and there or is there a dealer you use. Thinking perhaps I could look online. At this point I was trying to be the bigger person and remain polite but was finding that very hard to do. I explained that I was looking for old medical books and equipment as decorative items. She suggested I use my “schoolbooks”.I was truly appalled at how rudely the proprietor at Antiques de Provence treated my husband and I. My suspicion is that my young appearance contributed to her behavior. That is unfortunate for her. I do appear quite young. However; I am also a double boarded surgeon and will soon be purchasing a home that needs to be filled. Perhaps the employees and proprietor at Antiques de Provence should take a lesson on treating potential customers with basic manners.
