The staff are friendly and happy to let you see any of the pieces they have there on display. To work the action and study the mechanics of. Always a pleasure to stop by their shop while in the Quarter.
I called Jerry and asked him to look at an antique Napoleonic sword for me. He said to send him some photos and that he would try to determine if its authentic to the period. I did this then never heard from him. Sent two emails and called, no reply. Dont say youre going to do things and then never do them. I realize its a favor, but it was important to me. Obviously not to you.
Very nice and friendly staff. In my humble opinion, however, the gold coins are overpriced (compared to published values). My suggestion to anyone whos ready to start investing in gold coins –do your homework. Know what you want and its true value before you invest (year, mint mark, condition, etc). If you cant remember those metrics, bring a current coin guide with you to the shop. Look up the coins true value in the guide, then compare that value to the price they are selling the coin for. If youre willing to take the hit, buy it... If not, look somewhere else.
Nice shop but like New Orleans, the prices are way too high.
Pricing for coins is a touch high compared to what you can order online. But I know the coins there are worth whatever someone will pay for them, and because the shop is in a touristy location, people walk by and are willing to pay more.Good shop and knowledgeable staff.
Was great, enjoyed looking at all the old coins
Really interesting store. If you are a coin or weapon collector you will likely find something here. Their people are knowledgeable and very helpful. I thought their pricing was reasonable and accurate.
This place has your standard antique arms. I didnt see anything rare. Extremely high priced. Do your homework on prices before buying. $975 for a trapdoor with a cracked stock? $3500 for a very rough 42 Harpers Ferry? Come on! Thats double the value on both!
This place is awesome! Its like a candy store for history Buffs... Ive been there a couple of times and I plan on going back several more.
I told him my budget and he helped me find a perfect gift.
It was great my friend bought a 1774 coin ! Great service and knowledge of their inventory !
Love visiting here! Great people, and AWESOME step back in history!
Very cool place, with rare antique guns, swords and coins.
Loved it nice old guns and coins
Great place for antiques such as guns, coin and history memorabilia. Also beautiful jewelry. Wonderful staff and the Cohens are informative and know their inventory. An important stop in the French Quarter!
My wife and I visited New Orleans she saw a ring here that she loved. We went back home and I called and was able to order the exact ring. I spoke with a lady (Im sorry I dont know your name) who was very friendly and helpful. I received the ring two days after I ordered it. Very friendly and fast! Thank you!
Nice spot with cool antique items
Friendly attentive and pretty attendant who had answers to most of my questions. Wish I got her name she was lovely. They shop has a lot of dated historical pieces that bring insight into the world of the area are how it developed. A must check out shop to see parts of history that are long since built that which it is now. Also ask about the history of the shop as that will bring some intriguing facts to local history.
Love New Orleans been there numerous times. Cohen and Sons has a nice collection of various antiques! Cool place!
Although I only had a short time to visit this unique antique store, I found the wealth of antiques found here - primarily in the way of arms, maps and coins - to be breathtaking. The gentleman that helped me with the coins was friendly and knowledgeable and very interesting to speak with. They have a nice selection of coins from the United States Mint at New Orleans (1838 to 1861 and from 1879 to 1909) - both in raw and slabbed varieties. Id love to come back here when time allows and explorer the shop more thoroughly and add to my collection, but in the meantime, I highly recommend a visit when you are in town.
Amazing people, super interesting historic pieces with extremely fair pricing and shipping. Will do more business with them again
Brightly lit, well organized. Friendly staff willing to help even if just in to view. Patient with children having lots of questions.
Less than helpful. Brought in a very old shotgun with Wells Fargo carved into the stock just to see if they could tell me anything about it. The main thing I was told was that since it used shotgun shells, it was considered a “modern gun” and he didn’t deal with modern guns. After that, his usefulness stopped. He wouldn’t even venture much of a guess or recommend anyone who might.
Tons of cool expensive stuff
A French Quarter institution... and another must-visit whenever we are in New Orleans. Coins, old currency, antique firearms and other cool antiques...
Cohen & Sons is like a museum where you can buy everything if you have good enough credit.Colt revolvers from the wild west. Muskets from Harpers Ferry. Denarii from the Roman Empire. Pirate Treasure. If you are a grownup who loves history and antiques, you just found your toy store.
Very nice people and suggested to ship my item home for me. It arrived when they said. Great place I hope to visit again!
This place makes me wish I had more money, so I could purchase...more money. Check it out! Amazing selection of old coins and weapons.
Amazing place with great stock, wish I could have bought some antique firearms to bring back to Australia, but not to be. All type of stock.
I brought in two Civil War sabers for any info they might be able to give. The guy there took one saber (family heirloom) and jammed it into a scabbard leaving a scratch all the way along the blade. I WILL NEVER deal with these professionals again. Way overpriced as well
Very nice place for serious memorabilia. Has wide range of early weapons, but expensive. Comes close to the Chickamauga collection.
Some amazing history in this store. Stopped here after brunch and got lost for 30 minutes in all the cool stuff in there.
Stopped in here after some friends and I saw a few of the items in their window. The items they have on display and for sale run the gamut of historical weapons and currency. They even have mini figurines of Civil War and DC Comics superheroes. A great spot to check out and, if you have the cash to do so, pick up some historical items.
What an amazing story. Their collection of antique weapons is amazing.
Fascinating maps, guns, currency etc Highly knowledgeable staff of 3rd generation Cohens glad to discuss collections and the trade. Love this place.
This collection is AMAZING...they have guns from the Civil War and coins in mint condition from BEFORE CHRIST. The pieces were AMAZING & it was a really neat places to look around.
Great antiques store. The staff there is very knowledgeable and friendly.
Cool place. We didnt buy anything but it was fun to see their collection.
Great advice and honestWill trust my future coin and currency collection sales with this very well established New Orleans family company
This is the best place on Royal Street for 18th and 19th century antique firearms as well as antique coins. A knowledgeable and friendly staff will help you as you wander about the store.
My Dad Is A Collector & It Was Great To Walk Into A Business And Think Of Him... Smells Antique, The Look Is Simple Man Style/Victorian man cave (Less Is Loads More), Almost Like A Museum For Sale. Note The Original Rodiron on the second floor!
We happened into this neat 5th generation family owned antique shop because of the cool civil war weapons displayed in the window. After browsing the guns, swords, coins and other antiques, we stumbled across a ring that was strikingly similar to the one I had planned on proposing with. In a small twist of fate, she picked it up and loved it. She joked about it all day and when I had a few moments to myself, I quickly snuck back to get it. They were amazing to work with and the owner was very nice. I proposed at the Hotel Monteleone at the carousel bar and she said yes! We had a wonderful time here in New Orleans and it will be a memory to cherish for a lifetime. Thank you again for making our engagement amazing!
