Inedible, shameful to call this Sicilian. Ive never actually left a uneaten dish in NYC until now. The spaghetti with calamari was like an oversized soup, flavored with window cleaner and old fish. We had stale bread and literally tasteless mozzarelline to start. The server saw I wasnt eating, but didnt ask about my food till we asked for the check 30 min later. At least they had the good grace to not charge me for the pasta. Pity, I expected more from a place that claims to serve Sicilian pasta dishes..
Such a great spot!! real true Italian food and great great prices. the carbonara is to die for! One of those very special places to happen upon in Manhattan
This is my wife and Is favorite lil cozy hideaway. Great home style food great family service
Terrible service. The chef and waitstaff are beyond rude to customers. I’ve heard from several parents they claim customers get their orders wrong and they (the customers) don’t speak English (when they are American-born) which is why their orders are wrong. They should be boycotted.
One of Gramercys no-secret Secret! Excellent Soups and great Pastas. Super clean, friendly and healthy. My neighborhood staple for 15 years. This guy is a great foodie and do have a conversation about any or all things culture and you will be friends for life.
Delicious pasta for an amazing price. It was right next to my school and i still go often. I get the arrabiatta and aurora with rigatoni. The service is so great, they are always so sweet. The food comes out quickly. The one thing to keep in mind is that they only take cash (they may have changed this but i just have a habit of paying cash now anyway)
Lamarca is a phenomenal Italian Restaurant! This is a place that truly makes you feel like family! I could eat there daily!! The pasta is made to order and always of great taste and quality. Just 1 thing to point out, TIPS CAN ONLY BE IN CASH. So please bring cash because you will want to tip the amazing staff!
Excellent in every way! The service was fantastic, the quaint atmosphere was welcoming, but the best part was the food! Just when you think all Italian food tastes the same, you find a gem like Lamarca. The pasta and vegetables were cooked to perfection, the sauces seasoned just right. Some of the best Italian food Ive had in a long, long, time. Magnifico!
What a lovely little place in the Gramercy area of Downtown, New York City. This is the last night that our kids are away with their grandparents in Japan, so my wife and I decided to meet mid-way between the office and home. The heat and humidity finally broke today, so the front window was open and we sat in a nook where the window met the sidewalk. The breeze was refreshing, the wait staff interested in our comfort and when the food came, it was a delight. I had eggplant parmigiana and my wife had the chicken special. They serve warm rolls and a simple, wonderful salad.
I’ve tried this place 3 times now. Unfortunately both times I had it for dinner I was not impressed. The chicken parm tasted very strange. However I tried a lunch special one day and I picked a pasta with two different homemade sauces and that was decent.
Amazing tasting soups! Really great combination/pairings. Just ask. Pumpkin, which is seasonal, is soo good. Nothing bad to say about this place.
Good lunch spot, we were on the Italian eat in side, not the soup and sandwich shop. The food was excellent, the lunch portions were still very large and the prices are good for the area. Would return again and recommend.
FANTASTIC service, food, staff. Not stuffy environment and friendly environment. Our server was a very sweet and attentive young woman. What a refreshing style of service in my city. Will deffinately be going back and recommending others. My husband and I new favorite place ♡♡♡
A gem in nyc, one of the best Italian spots to dine at that you likely never heard of. Come on Thursday-Fridays to enjoy their pasticcio--a vegetable lasagna that is one of their specialties on the menu. All meals served with bread and salad that comes freshly prepared with a simple yet delicious house dressing.
Great place with a friendly staff. They really have the best pasta in town, for a great price! $7 and you’re all set for a delicious Italian meal in their cheese shop area.
I LOVE pasta, but I only finished my plate of pasta in this joint because I was hungry as a horse and it was, for the most part, edible. The only real good part about this joint was that the food came out VERY quickly - like within 5 minutes. Never saw that before in a pasta joint. Not sure if it was because they worked fast in the kitchen or the pasta was already cooked. I think it was the latter. The pasta was over cooked, but I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of waiting for another 5 minutes. Hunger will do that to you. The seasoning was way off, and that was the case for everyone at my table.I told my daughter (who goes to a college nearby) not to eat there again. In fact, a sandwich from a coffee shop at 2:00 a.m. may be a better option.I didn’t experience this, but apparently they have some sort of “cash only” policy for certain orders/bill sizes, which apparently isn’t obvious. The guy at the next table complained and they let him pay by credit card.Never going back.
There wasnt much of a wait so we decided to go here. For dinner you have the option to choose the 17$ or 19$ plates. It was decent but nothing to rave about. The two servers were nice if not overworked. I would not recommend more than 4 people here since its very cramped and has limited seating. We were also asked to give the tips in cash.
Great neighborhood place.... affordable and the two female servers are amazing. My wife and I love it in here
Simple menu and ambiance.Lots of pasta options.Everything is $17 or $19 and meals come with a good sized salad and a warm roll with butter.
Love this cute little pasta joint! The best part is that you can mix and match the sauces and the type of pasta when you cannot decide!
Ive only been here once, bit I loved it. The staff was incredibly nice and service was good. The prices were reasonable, especially for the wine. The food was great and the portions were a size that could be eaten in one sitting.
I really love this place and miss it from when I went to school nearby. They have a great vibe, great price, and obviously great food. I legit come all the way from the outer boroughs just for this sometimes. It’s simple and that’s why it works. Would recommend to anyone who isn’t on a low carb diet or is looking for a cheat day, hah!
Best spaghetti and meatballs I ever had. Better than my mothers!
This is a really special place. The food is simple, yet incredibly delicious! I really cant get over it. Its one of my very favorite lunch places. The service is great too.
This is for the sit down restaurant. Not bad. But pretty pricey for what youre getting. Then again it is Italian food.
Felt warm. Friendly staff. Go to the shop not the dinning area. Bare bones. Oldies in the background. Nice place to have some hearty pasta and warm soup on a cold day.
Took a date here on a suggestion from a friend who lived in the area a while back. Nice small and quiet area. Place was almost completely filled up by the time we got there around 7 on a Thursday. Food was nice big portions. The gnocchi was phenomenal. My dates chicken parm meal was massive. The food was so good and so filling. We couldnt finish our meals, and I usually win the clean plate award when I go out. The staff was very prompt and attentive. Will definitely be coming back here.
I love this place for lunch. they have the best soup in town, and they are very inexpensive. i just wish they would change the menu once in awhile and offer some new soups. they also have relaly good pasta to sat or to go. mix and match your sauce with your pasta. great selection of cheeses too as very good prices.
Lentil soup is never my favorite but Lamarca knows how to make it edible and yummy. Pastas are great and you can SPLIT The sauce... its like getting two dinners for the price of one. Eat in cafe for casual lunch or sit on the resaurant side, same kitchen...deliciozo!!!
Simple and delicious. Has been in the neighborhood for a long time. Comforting that its still here. Salad, bread, pasta and wine make for a lovely meal if youre in the neighborhood.
I go to school just down the block from this place, and my friends and I come all the time. We usually sit in the to-go area, just because the sit down diner area is a little too formal for us. Their seating is terrible in this space because considering how busy they are, they have about 8 tables that only let two people sit there at a time. My suggestion: go there to order and eat somewhere else, or be ready to fight some random old lady for a seat! (Yes, that is the kind of crowd they attract...) But overall, the food is pretty good, a little pricy for the portion size, but still okay. The brownies with chocolate chips are my favorite thing of all time there, though. I order one every time and I am never disappointed! I hope this was helpful, I tried to be very honest and straight to the point.
Finally, an Italian restaurant in Manhattan thats completely unpretentious, with spectacular and reasonably-priced homemade pasta, nice selection of wines, and very friendly wait staff. Only place Ive ever seen that boasts a special award from the NYC Dept of Health for Exemplary sanitation, in addition to their A rating. The owners quirky collection of art & sculpture is a nice touch, as is the background music of classic jazz, played at just the right volume for comfortable conversation over dinner. Only open on weekdays, and closes *promptly* at 10 pm, but eminently worth an early dinner.
Best Chicken Rice soup in the city (yes, I’ve tried). Totally legit so much so that they’re not open Saturday and Sunday. Mad Respect for their hours and way to make me come back every Monday.
Food is good .drinks ehh not the best get wine batter.
Good prices, great pasta. Every entrée comes with a small salad and bread. Highly recommend for lunch during the week. Also, they accept credit but not for tips. Bring enough cash to leave a tip.
Great pasta, fast service, I wil go again. Their pasta with chicken breast was excellent and the strong ginger ale soda was very tasty.
Gnocchi is fresh and pillowy. The dine in lunch comes with bread and a simple salad, plus a great price. This is one of my favorite me spots when Im hungry and have a good book I need time for.
Great service and I liked the anchovy and olive pasta. Bread roll was stale… nonetheless a pleasant place for a simple Italian dinner.
Only pasta in the city that I constantly crave. I go out of my way to come here all the time. Their pasta is affordable and the sauce is outstanding!!! You can get it for $7 a bowl with meat or bread for a little extra.
Prices arent bad and the food tastes amazing!! Had the spinach and cheese ravioli, and Im planning to go again! Soon!Went back a second time and it was better than I remembered!
This cheese shop is top rated and draws you in if you stumble upon it. It has a little sign above the glass entrance that says cheese. It draws you in but once inside, we were unimpressed. The inside looks like a cheap cafeteria with pans of chicken and salads and limited seating. We ordered their caprese salad and it was not good. I hate to say it but the worst Ive ever had. They also didnt have a restroom and only take cash. NYC has better.
The food here is delicious. This place as long has very good prices. Cant beat the service either.
This place used to be my little hidden secret. Such great and authentic pasta and great service. If youre on the run, try their take-out area. You cant go wrong in any aspect. Try it but not on weekends, theyre closed :( Enjoy and try the bolognese
Honestly this is the greatest pasta place in the whole city. ive been coming here since 2010 and the quality is always consistent. it is so authentic and tasty and seriously just amazing.
Some of the best Italian in the city. Id match any of their pasta dishes (theyre all pasta dishes) against anything Mario Batali could create. Best value around.
The food is fantastic and the staff is so nice.
A favorite lunch spot. Ive only ever gotten the penne with with aurora sauce. Enjoyed it every time. Quaint little shop, with minimal seating. Good music.
I love this place. Huge plates of pasta made with love for not a lot of money.
This place is so super good. Great pasta dishes for a great price. Always recommend the chicken parm.
Great food. Good wait staff. Could work on hospitality From management.
Love the pasta and sauces here. Staff is friendly. Nice to eat-in or take-home.
Very delicious homemade pasta at Lamarca. I havent been to their full restaurant, but stopped by for lunch in their takeout area on 22nd Street. The lunch deal is great - $7 for a bowl of pasta with your choice of sauce (you can get a combination of two - which is awesome). The Arrabbiata sauce is delicious (prosciutto, onion, and chili). The staff working the counter were all very pleasant and helpful, as well. One of them even noticed I was buying a bottled water and offered me free ice water instead since I was eating in. A small gesture, but indicative of the kind of nice people working here.
Home-made pasta with delicious sauces at a fixed price for lunch and dinner. Everything comes with bread and a salad, portions are filling. Gets busy at dinner.
A long time neighborhood gem. Nothing fancy, but wonderfully done pastas, flavorful sauces, and inexpensive (limited) wine selection
Beautiful place, neighborhood favorite. Cafe pasta is tasty, large portion, and at a very good price
A staple of Gramercy for over a decade now. Its my go-to restaurant for pasta in the area. The chicken parm and lasagna are noteworthy. I just wish it was open on weekends!
Great food. Good pricing. Substantial proportions. Friendly atmosphere. Cash only.
Homemade pasta at reasonable prices in Manhattan. Hard to beat.
Love to order ahead and grab a wonderful and nutritious lunch.
Their eggplant parm is just ridiculously tasty. Consistently good food across the board. Delivery is great.
Great pasta with super great sauce, very attentive and very clean. I love it
Very good food snd a nice price
In my opinion it’s best Italian restaurant in Midtown
Causal place to have a great variety of delicious pasta!
Service and prices are good and the soups selection change daily
Good tasting food at very affordble price.
The most arrogant people on this planet. I ordered to go but changed my mind and sat down instead while Im enjoying my soup this rude guy his name is Ken comes and tells me to go that I cant stay. Because, I ordered to go. Very rude. Plus the soup wasnt good and the bread was old. They deserve a 0 star.
SVA students love this shop! Thanks for all the delicious food!
Excellent. Gray staff good food
Great lunch for tasty simply pasta, spaghetti, or gnocchi.
Love this place. Great food, great service!
I think this is my new quick lunch spot in the 23rd St area that quashes my Italian cravings. Last week, I actually came here 3 days in a row because Ken (the really nice and interesting guy behind the counter) gave me continual great recommendations and pleasant side conversation.I normally dont like to repeat lunch spots, but I felt oddly at ease with having some nice pasta and relaxing by one of the high stools. I personally love the arrabbiata mix with Bolognese sauces with the cavatappi. Food gets served quickly and their soups are pretty good as well. I know some people are looking for the review of the food on the sit-down dining experience in the spot next door, but Im happy with just ordering a pasta with a sauce and just relaxing with a good crossword.
Very good pasta with various options. Friendly service.
One of my favorite places to eat in the city.
Great fast great price quick no frills awesome soups etc pasta on and on. It will be a regular place for me.
Pasta very tasty...service excellent
Our favorite neighborhood Italian.
Delicious pasta. Great pricing.
4.5. Very friendly staff, very well priced pastas - had the aurora and peso half half on fusilli and it was fantastic.
They offer basic pasta but nothing spectacular about it.
I love their arabiatta and nice people working :)
Most of the pasta here is decent. My favorite dish is the Tagliatelle al Spinaci.
Amazing and affordable lunch spot. Go to the shop and not the restaurant (cheaper)
Great pizza and heros
Cute little neighborhood spot for inexpensive fresh pasta dishes. Casual, fast service, and great complimentary homemade rolls & salad with homemade pesto dressing. Our table ordered meat lasagna, linguini spinaci, & fettucini alfredo and all dishes were exceptional and completely satisfying. With so much mediocre italian food in nyc, I dont see myself going anywhere else for the price.Only open weekdays.
Good food for good prices. My favorites are the Puttanesca and the broccoli rabe soup.
The most dank pasta u will ever eat
It might be the best pasta in the neighborhood. We’re partial to the Carbonara and the Paglia E Feino con Proscuitto. Check out their store to DIY.
