Dawn was excellent we came in close to closing time. Thank God they had time for us! The tech that put our tire on was very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend this place for tire exchange!!
If I could give them less than one star I would! My friend discovered a rusted fuel line as she was leaving town to return back to OH and stopped at this Pep Boys (which I already disliked because of the time they left me sitting in their waiting room for three hours and never bothered to tell me my car was ready) and I regret not telling her to try to find somewhere else. When we went in to pick up the vehicle we waited around 15 minutes JUST to pay, and they tried to charge us $200 more than she was quoted until she corrected them.Worst of all, the moment we drove away, my friends steering wheel started making awful whining and grinding noises every time she turned. We took it back and the manager was incredibly rude, and when they took a look at it, they tried to claim it was probably just some common issue with the rack. They offered to take it back in to take apart and look at properly, as if wed trust them to look at it again. This place is awful. If this was the only car shop left on the planet, Id sooner figure out how to work on my car myself than take it to them.EDIT: 8/13/21Took the car to a trusted mechanic and what do you know... when Pep Boys installed the new fuel line, they somehow wrapped it around the steering column. Were contacting both the corporate offices and the BB because Pep Boys owes us money for the job they screwed up.
I made an online appointment for 3:30 and told the service department that I would wait for my vehicle. My car didnt even get taken back to be serviced until 4:40. No one apologized that my appointment time wasnt in any way honored. It ruined the entire rest of the day because my babysitter had to leave. I will never go back here again, for anything.
Waited for 5 hours. 9am appointment and I left at 1:30. They didnt even start my car until 11. Also, I asked them to check a few things out, like psi in tires, nope. Didnt happen until I had my keys back. Crazy.
Kudos, to the team at Pep Boys Newark. Dropped my daughter off at UD and started to head home to Maine... Noticed that my Jeep was pulling to the left... Brake issues, luckily PEP BOYS was only a mile from me... arrived to late in the day for them to fix, however the 2 employees up front could not of been more helpful! They even offered me a ride to the closest hotel. I would like to thank Lewis and Dawn for their exemplary customer service. Manager Rick was helpful as well!! Pep Boys is lucky to have employees like them! Jeep is fixed... Off to Maine!!
PEP BOYS SERVICE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. WE ARE HERE FOR YOUR NEEDS! JUST GIVE US A CALL OR STOP IN.THE OFFICE STAFF IS WORKING DILIGENTLY TO FIND US A NEW HOME AND WHEN WE KNOW, YOU WILL KNOW!!
Great staff and service. I really felt like they cared about my car and the issues I brought to their attention.
You win, Pep Boys of Newark. I thought I could save $6 on wiper blades by ordering online with an online rebate one Sunday afternoon. My ETA for pickup was same day. Ive been in the store enough to know the aisle where the wiper blades were located, and it was only two blades, so I figured I would be picking up my order that day. An email was sent confirming my order with instructions that another email would be sent when the order was ready for pickup. An hour and a half later, without an email, I just decided to go to the store. It was 5:12 p.m. on a Sunday. I needed the parts department, to be clear. If you look online, the store hours are until 6 p.m. but the service department closes at 5 p.m. The parts and accessories department is supposed to be open until 6 p.m. When I walked in, I was told the store was closed. I tried explaining that I was picking up an online order. The assistant manager told me he knew the order I was talking about. He even said, you ordered the champion wiper blades. He then tells me he cant help me because he already logged out of the system. I asked if there was anything he could do because I was there now, was only picking up an order that had been placed with an estimated pickup date for that same day, suggested that logging back into the system wasnt impossible to do, and also stated the store hours were posted as 6 p.m., not 5 p.m. I was again told there wasnt anything that could be done. It was suggested to me to try a competitiors store down the road. I reached out to customer service the next day and they began looking into my complaint. I was told I would receive a call within 48 hours. The call never came. I waited a few more days before calling customer support again. The person with customer support called the store, spoke with someone there, and then got back to me. He told me the Pep Boys in Newark no longer has the blades I ordered in stock and there is no record of my order number. So, well done Pep Boys of Newark. You win. I may be small beans, but I will take my business elsewhere and encourage others to do so as well.
Even though the shopping center looks like mars, rick the manager continues to deliver top notch service and repairs at its best, Hope they dont go far!!!
This Pepboy gives a resposbile service. I received a floow up up call provide a further instruction on the existing problem. This service center worth to vist. Thank you
Good job not to long of a wait.
Service nice 100.00 oil change but nothing there but tires. Not the pepboys I knew from way back
They are very honest about their service; They give good advice and ask for your permission if they were to find extra issues with your vehicle, out of scope with a typical Oil Change service, before proceeding to resolve them. They also readily advise you on their oil change discounts on their website. This is something most people wouldn’t have known about otherwise. It shows they want to save you money and offer a timely service.
The manager at this Pep Boys was so helpful, thank you Sir...
I have been going to this Pep Boys for 41 years and today is my very last time I will purchase anything from The Company! Stores Ive seen are in disarray and dirty. I wish I could say help made up the difference but no, it is equally as bad... I dont know what happened to the Pep Boys I know but it is gone....Please dont call or contact me in any way.Lost Customer... .
I had my car fixed there, they worked fast, and they called lyft for me for free, really great experience, will recommend!
Got a tire replaced on the front driver side . What a wonderful experience I had today . Brian is very wonderful person to work with. From start to end he was helpful.Thank You
Awful customer communication. Will not be returning. Find somewhere else.
Currently only service and tires. No other products available. Came for motor oil.
Ill be sad to see this store close. Theyve been good to me over the last couple decades.
They’re not professional! They checked my braked and said it’s working OK, 1-2 weeks later the brakes went bad and wear the disk, so I should pay a lot to change the brake and disk!
Excellent service. The people you deal with are courteous and willing to help and explain. The store is great too! Recommend A++++
Came here because of a rear flat tire, the mechanics took the tire off, and placed it on the floor for about 2 hours while the mechanics play with their phone, out of the 3 mechanics, one was busy the other 2 were doing nothing for the last 30 minutes of my 2 hour wait, finally the desk guy came and told me they couldn’t fix it, because it had two nails and one was too damage to fix (tires had less than 2,000miles on), told them I didn’t want a new tire and took my vehicle to a different tire shop, tire was fix and out of the 2 nails, only one caused damage. After this experience I talked to a former employee, all I can say is, they just want to sell tires, that’s how they make their money (long story)Picture of tire 3 weeks later
Good place in a strip mall thats being renovated. Dont know if they will survive. Parts were incomplete. They offer discounts on any buy online / pick up in store purchase. Convenient.
I have been loyal coustomer from last couple of years. Today the person name Brian who is not only rude but also disrespectful to the coustomer !!!Had to change oil and was told to be down before 6p.m. when I was speaking to a lady he jumped on from no where asking me to get the keys & leave !!!Is this how Pepe boys represents to their loyal customers. Not only pepeboys lost me & will let others know not to come as specially if the employee like Brian who does not appreciate the business...!!!Brian should be fired for what he did & top of it he never apologized at all. Lady came to me after 30 mint & asked me to accept her apologies. Thanks to her !!!
To update my one star, customer service reached out and resolved the issue and was very easy to work with
This store is permanently closed. Wasted my time and gas driving here.
Arrived for my 9:30 appointment, 4 new tires and an alignment. Ran out to do some errands. I called at 2:30 to check to see if my vehicle was finished, it wasnt. My wife picked it up at 4:30, only to notice that the vehicle had damage to the front quarter panel and down the entire drivers side. The manager wasnt available at the time of pick up, so I had to return the next day. They state that the damage happened out in the lot, prior to them bringing my vehicle in to the bay for service at 11:30.Pep Boys claims no responsibility and not made any good faith offer to right what has happened while the vehicle was in there care. Its just a poor example of good customer service. Lesson learned- next stay with the vehicle or find another reputable shop to do the work.
Very helpful and great service
Found some good motor oil
You couldnt go in the store to purchase anything.
Location is going out of business so not much left.
Made an appointment and showed up on time.... Waiting over 2 hrs for a simple coolant flash... Pepboys refused to do a simple job after a super long wait. Went to Jiffy Lube great job done less then 20mins. What was the point of the appointment if they dont honor it? Why couldnt they do a easy job like a coolant flush?
Came in to pick up a part I ordered online. The part wasn’t in stock when I got there. Without any hassle at all - honestly, without me even asking - they substituted a much higher end product that they had on hand at the online sale price. Installed it for free in about 15 minutes, too. I really appreciate the respect and courtesy they showed me and their willingness to go the extra mile for a customer. Thanks, Ken! Thanks, Pep Boys, Newark, DE!
The “Boys” were led by a team of women last night that were both informed, knowledgeable and made a repair work for us in record time -saving us real duress in the nick of time! Seriously grateful and appreciative. The mechanic skills were evident, and although they didn’t know us out-of -towners who were towed-shows ...they did a great job and were respectful. Now....let’s work on better lavatories...cant really call them “washrooms” if its so unclean-right P- Boys?
Great experience today at Pep Boys in Newark! Went in late morning to just inquire about scheduling an appointment, and they said they could take me today. Great! Looks like Im walking back to work. Albert was extremely thorough and friendly in going over my repairs (brakes) but also future issues with my car. Albert also showed great concern about my tires due to heavy wear. I was also informed of some nice rebates with my brakes. Great experience! Hats off to Albert, Victor, and everyone who worked on my car! Thanks!
I was looking for a side mirror for my car and they had to special order it. The parts manager was AMAZING!!!! She was very helpful very knowledgeable and a HUGE sweet heart!!! Everyone there was extremely helpful. And even though I had to order the mirror it wasnt as expensive as I thought it was going to be. They called me as soon as it came in to come pick it up. It was just an all around great experience. Kudos to Pep Boys!!!!!
I ONLY use Pep Boys for oil changes and minor repairs. Prices are fair, service is timely, and the staff are solid. My only concern is whether or not they will continue at the currently location given the current demolition of the shopping center and redevelopment plans?
I usually order online and pick up, never had an issue and the staff is always friendly. I have had to get something that I didnt order online and parts staff are very helpful. I have had tires installed and they were honest with the time it would take to get to the car. Yes, it was a bit of time but they were honest at least. Cant say I have ever had a bad experience.
This store has been my go-to for some time. But my last 4 visits have all been fraught with problems; both on the Retail and Repair sides. Repair work not completed, appointments not honored, pricing not ringing up correctly. It seems that PB as a whole is going through some kind of transition/split/rebranding with Auto Plus. Maybe that is the reason. I dont know. I just know Im getting frustrated.
Great mechanics and reasonable price
Took me on short notice service was above and beyond
Great service and they not only just changed my battery but they looked to make sure other things werent wrong as well and gave recommendations on what needs to be done.
These guys are awesome! Very friendly on the initial phone call. They accommodated me for a last minute headlight replacement. I really needed it replaced and they really came through for me. It is rare to get this high level of service these days. I would recommend all my friends and family to come to this location. Thank you Pep Boys!
Great customer service
Nice people
The staff is very, very nice, but the wait time is ridiculous! As Im writing this, Ive been waiting for 5 hours for an oil change! I told them I needed to go into work at 1:30, they assured me it would be done before that. Luckily I have very understanding bosses, but come on. Ive asked twice when it would be done, first time said I was next in line and it should only be an hour/ hour and a half. That was at 12:30. Next time, two people had suddenly gotten in front of me, another hour and a half wait time, I was told. They still hadnt taken it back when I left to get food, at 2:30. Its now 3pm, no word. Very frustrating! I understand getting busy but why did I even bother making an appointment if I wont be seen until 5+ hours? Maybe they need another mechanic?
This is basically the second time that this happened to me, I discussed some price beforehand, then I go there and they will bringing different excuses to increase the price! If that happened to you, just leave and go to another place! It’s definitely worth it!For example, they first told me it costs me 12$ for fixing flat tire, then I went there couple of hours later, price changed to be 17$. When I complained, and I said Walmart is doing it for 10, staff just told me okay, you can go there.I know it’s not a big deal, but this behavior is not professional, and kind of rude!
Although the staff was nice, Ive been waiting 4 hours and counting for my tires to be replaced. One of the technicians came out after I had been already waiting 3 hours and told me all 4 of my tires needed to be replaced. I responded with that is why I was here in the first place so why had it taken 3 hours for them to let me know that instead of working on replacing the tires? This after my initial appointment was scheduled for last week and on the way in for my appointment, I received a call that only 2 of my tires were in so they recommended rescheduling the appointment even though I was on my way to them when they called me. I have been trying to be patient and normally dont write reviews but this just seems a bit much to not note for others.
Love pepboys always great service
Got excellent advice from a staff member in the parts store a few days ago. Thanks! I havent used the maintenance service so I cant comment on that.
I was very happy with the service. The service manager was excellent and treated us with respect and kindness. The job was done very quickly and they were completely honest and Ill be taking my car back. I would recommend this store and service department. I dont understand the bad reviews, I had a great experience today. Thank you Pep Boys Service Department .
Came in for a quick tire service at 1:30 on a Monday afternoon and the the service writers were at the desk complaining about another customer. I approached the service and patiently waited 5 minutes for them to finish their conversation finally she In rolled her eyes and asked if I needed help. I very politely said yes and that I just need my tires balanced. She told me she didn’t have time today and I would have to come back. I’m a master tech passing through I was willing to wait for the service. Balancing tires would only take a hour.
Ive been going to this PepBoys for a few years. They usually have a wait of 3 or so hours, not ideal, but the people are friendly and the prices are great. They run the problem of being overworked and understaffed. I have the sneaking suspicion that corporate does not give them enough resources for the populated area theyre in.At no point was this clearer than my last visit. I had an appointment at 2pm, I was waiting for a technician to do some quick routine maintenance and check the brakes. I figured I may be waiting 2-3 hours. I did not get my car back until 7pm. 5 hours. My car was sitting in the lot for much of the time, Im sure, because when I called to check in around 4:30, they still hadnt gotten to the brakes or the battery at all.In addition, while I was still polite in asking for the information from the brake check, the technician I was working with was new to me. He was very condescending, and did not pay much attention to details or concerns. The other technicians have been very kind and patient with me in the past, as have the desk staff. If youre going here, quality service is possible, but its a gamble.
Ive been very fortunate to have good consistent service at Pep Boys with my various cars. Prices seem reasonable to me and i have never felt that I got ripped off. The only detractor is where they are located. The mall they are in could use a face lift and more stores so it doesnt seem too dilapidated.
Had a 50 percent sale.
Theyre closing. :(
The service at Pep Boys is a total joke. They take a ridiculous amount of times to do simple things, and Ive caught them trying to rip off my friends and girlfriend several times.Theyll offer you a reasonable price, then try to drag things out to get you to pay an increased price at the time of your appointment. Out of principle I have refused to do any future business with Pep Boys.
Staff will not only touch the interior of your car with greasy hands and not only stain your seat but your door upholstery as well. If that isnt bad enough they installed extra long valve stems that stick out of my wheel 2 inches. And it gets better. The service desk workers are uneducated and use their ego to try and solve solutions rather than common sense. Will never go back here again.... INSANE!
If you are going here to buy parts or anything else for your car staff is very nice & helpful. But I would never take my car there to be serviced! They can be rude, dont think that they all know what they are doing & their goal seems to be to waste your time and up sell, up sell. I and many do not trust this service center. ( mechanics)
Very overpriced! I feel violated just looking at the prices in this establishment. I dont understand why they have to be so pricey. You can buy the same products at Walmart 40% cheaper than this place. They are a rip off. Dont waste your time coming here. Customer service is not good. They are too busy talking to one another and not welcoming the customers that walk through the door. Thumbs down for me.
I took my 2009 Toyota Matrix to Pep Boys on 06/20/2018 for oil change at location 121 College SQ, Newark, DE 19711. Couple of days after changing oil I started to smell oil burning while I was delivering food. On day 5 the smell got stronger, so I open the front car hood and I see the engine does not have oil cap and the oil is all over the hood and all over the engine area. I wish I could have shown some picture of oil spill.I stopped my delivery work and right away I took the car to the Pep Boys on 06/24/2018 and showed to the Assistant Manager. While I was showing the assistant manager where the engine oil spill is, he gave an attitude. He said “you don’t have to show me where, I can see it”. He then top up the oil and clean the oil spill as much as he could.I asked him a simple question. How come you guys forgot a simple task? His response was “don’t come here and characterize my guys”Right after I left the Pep Boys Couple of hours later my car started to shake and some kind of sound coming from the engine.I took the car back to Pep Boys next day and general manager told me that shake and sound cannot come from the oil spill. She diagnoses the car and said it needs Front Right Engine Mount and Transaxle Mount. It will cost me $367.00
Good service but exspensive as hell. Had to take out a second morgage to afford an oil change.
My car overheated on my way to work, called my insurance company for a tow and I had to pick this place. They told me 3 things that needed to be fixed, I talked to several mechanics about what the price should be but pep boys charged me more than double and gave me a laundry list of things they replaced or repaired. Far from 3 things. If that wasnt enough, my car now has trouble idling and often shuts off when it tries to idle. My car also runs its fan for about 5 minutes after I turn it off, none of which happened before I gave them my car to fix. I work with my hands for a living and if I gave my customers this kind of service I would be ashamed. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, TRUST ME!
Last time I made an appointment for an oil change and was left to sit for 2.5 hrs while walk ins were taken ahead of me. This time I didnt bother with an appointment given my experience last time was told the earliest they could help me was 3 hrs or more, for a simple oil change and was advised to make an appointment next time. I relayed my experience from last time and walked out.Joshua from service came out to the parking lot and told me to make up for last time hed change the oil himself as soon as a bay opened. Stand out service from him but overall less than impressed with my service experiences at the college square local.
Whatever happened to Jon he was great knew what parts to get and was polite and Friendly He worked at the Dupont Hwy store in New Castle.
I have nothing good to say about this place. Dont bother making an appointment because they wont get to your car for another 12 hours. Dont expect a quick service or great customer service. Do not waste your time coming here . There are other auto shops who will give you the help you need with reasonable amount of time. This place honestly deserves a zero.
Best service and reasonable prices. I could not have asked for a better experience while restoring my Wrangler. I had to replace the steering box, water pump and an O2 sensor. They got me running perfect and were all very professional. Ask for Jason, Mark and Marcus. They are awesome!!!
Pepboys is normally a bit on the expencive side. However every once in a while they have a deal that cant be beat.
I Made an appointment for 9 am on Sunday to have 3 tires changed out. Was told it would be an hour to complete the job, and I explained to them I wouldnt be back till 12 to get the vehicle. That was a mistake... They didnt even try to work on it until 12. Called me up at 12:15 to tell me I had to come back in to take a ladder off of my vehicle because the tech didnt feel comfortable raising the vehicle up in the lift. This was not an issue when I had 2 tires replaced 2 months ago. So I still sat and waited for the work to be finished... Why make an appointment? Why take walk ins before my scheduled appointment? Thanks for waisting my time. Last time coming here.
I needed an oil change and my time was limited for when I could bring my car in for service. I called and appointments were full. It was a busy time just before the holidays. Next day I called again to check if any cancellations, but none. Later I stopped in at the store and the Sales Associate Chase Miller worked an appointment for me the next day (just 2 days before Christmas). I was much relieved it would be done before my next trip. In I came for the service appointment. Tom Mixon was the mechanic, did the oil change service and found also that the air filter was dirty. I got a call and gave the go ahead to replace it. All was completed in 1 hour and 5 minutes. I paid and on my way, grateful for the work by this team. I also want to thank Chase Miller for the good management and professional service of this team. Im traveling with confidence once again.
Terrible customer service, ive tried this store multiple times and always been disappointed. Chaulking it up to busy days. I went in today for a sceduled 9:30am oil change, although i came in early, i had no expectations of work to start until 930. The rep that took my keys looked genuinely bothered that i was there. 9:30 came and the rep came in the uncomfortable waiting room to tell me they were 45 minures behind. I let an hour and a half pass and my car wasnt even touched. I had to go go request my keys to leave. The rep made no attempt at all to remedy the issue. I gave this place a chance. They wont be getting my business again.
Im not sure if I like the way the store has changed. it once was the best place to go to get anything to do with cars. Now the stock offering has shrunk. The signage in the store is no easy to see nor is it easy to know where to go. Compared to other Pep Boys shops this one is only so so.
I will not be returning to Pep Boys. Poor example of customer service, and absolutely no regard for customers time. I decided to drop by on a Friday to see if I could have my oil changed. I was told that my car would need to be left overnight, as they were busy at that particular time. Therefore, I decided to schedule an appointment for 12pm the following Sunday. When I arrived with my car for my appointment, I was asked if I would be waiting or dropping it off. Despite having an appointment, I was told that it would be at minimum - 1-2 hours - to have my oil changed. I was also asked, Whats the latest possible time we could have it back to you? Just by the end of today? Not ideal, but sure. Not wanting to wait in the grimy-looking store/ waiting room, I said okay, and went home. 4.5 hours go by, and I still had not heard anything regarding the status of my car, and the store was nearing closing time. I then called the store - and was placed on hold for 18 minutes (no exaggeration) before I hung up and decided to just get a ride back to the store. The line had at least least 5 people waiting in front of me while one employee- Albert- was left to manage all of the customers and incoming phone calls single-handedly. He was polite, patient, and friendly, but I was infuriated to look outside and see several other employees smoking in front of the store during this busy time. This store needs a serious overhaul in customer service training, professionalism, and cleanliness.
I made an appointment for 9am to get new tires installed. Came in right at 9am and there were two customers ahead of me, at least one was a walk-in. No problems. I was asked if I would be waiting for the car, I said yes. Decided to walk over to the Kmart while I waited since I heard the walk-in get quoted an hour to an hour and a half. Came back an hour later to see my car still in the same parking spot. Not a good sign. The walk-in was finished before me (clocking in now at 2 hours) so that was pretty frustrating. A half hour later I decided to ask how much longer. I was quoted no more than 30 minutes, probably sooner. An HOUR later (Ive now been sitting here for three and a half hours) I see my car is no longer in the garage so I go again to the counter and ask again about my car. The guy says, oh yeah I guess theyre done .... no one was going to tell me?Get all checked out and overhear someone on the phone quoting a walk-in 20-60 minutes for an oil change. I audibly laughed.Left and within 10 minutes my tire pressure light comes on. I turn around and was told to go to the garage and wait there. The guy who worked on my car checked the pressure and everything was fine, the light just needed to be reset (would have been nice to know that could have been an issue when I was checking out... but... here we are.)The service guy was understanding and thorough which is why I didnt give one star. But even if it sounds bad, dont quote someone an hour and a half tops when theyre going to be sitting in the waiting area for 3.5-4 hours! If I had known it would have taken that long I would have made other arrangements. Completely unacceptable.
I had a scheduled appointment for a headlight, new wipers, and an oil change. It took two hours. It might have actually taken less, I wouldnt really know because no one came out to tell me that my vehicle was done. Even though other service members found the time to communicate with other patrons, so I dont know how no one could find the 10 seconds to say, Oh, by the way, your car is done. I understand your swamped, but....come on.The bathroom was clean enough. I saw an earlier complaint about the TB volume but I think its because the sound of the tools/cars being, you know, maintenanced are on the other side of the wall. So it makes sense.Come here if you have a lot of time to spend. The people are courteous though.
Made service appointment online, which surprisingly said all appointment times were open. Found out later the website appointments cause a lot of problems and upset customers. I did NOT call the store, but I should have called to verify. I got to the store and of course they were busy, so the website was not really aware of what is actually going on at the store, so I had to wait a while longer for my service. The attendant told me they have a lot of problems with the website showing available appointments when they actually have appointments already scheduled for that time slot. Anyway, I expected to have to wait, so I left the car and went elsewhere for a while. The service also took a bit longer than they expected due to rusty condition of my car, but they worked through it and didnt charge me any more for their additional labor. The results look good, Im happy with the service and the attendant was easy going and effective at his job. The store gave me five star service, and the issues with the corporate website are not caused by them, though they have to deal with it. But the deal I got on the service, a corporate deal offered through the website or in-store, was exceptional and enough to make me forgive a longer-than-expected service time.
Ive taken my car there several times. Every time, I would drop my car off for an early morning appointment and expect to be able to pick it up at the end of the day, but each time they would take almost (if not the whole day and then some) to do something simple. The latest thing I had them do was rotate tires and have front end alignment done- dropped the car off at 7 AM before they opened, its 5:07 PM and they still havent done anything with the car. No call to let me know it would take the whole day (probably an over-night stay) or anything! When I called to get an update (since I hadnt heard anything all day), I was told the line for front end alignment was backed up, but was never given any time details (all she said was they would call when its ready to be picked up). Its a good thing I dont need the car tomorrow! Never coming back if I dont have to.
Well, now I’m sitting at the mechanic I should of gone to first. Dropped my car off in the fall for new brakes, an oil change, and to have a tire plugged. Guess what? No oil change...just watched him drain black sludge from car! Glad the engine is okay...But here’s the good part! The tire that was plugged? WHAT PLUG? The nail is still in it...which has resulted in me almost having an accident as it went flat while driving. Now I’m waiting on new tires and wasting more time and money on a service they NEVER performed. I’ll be in for a refund, but I bet they can’t even figure out how to do that. How can you put your customers in danger like that? Commit fraud and charge me for services that were never done???? I’m completely disgusted.
I made an appointment for 9am to get my fuel tank filler pipe fixed. Waited over an hour before they started working on my car. Specifically told them I would not be providing the part, waited another two hours thinking they would be working on my car. Asked about the status. Only to be told they were waiting for me to provide the part. Had I not asked I would be waiting for an update. Had to wait for my car to be put back together so they can order the part tomorrow (monday). Lack of efficiency and total waste of my time, and Dan doesnt even offer an apology. I had scheduled my appointment on Thursday and was told they would be ordering the piece from the dealer, and now they have no record of anything.Update: just saw my floor mat on the drivers side only to find a dirty footprint. Beyond upset with not only the service (or lack of service) I received today but also with the lack of respect for customers cars.
Would not Recommend this Place at all, Mechanics dont know what they doing.
Took Buick to Pep boys to have new brake pads put on. I checked the back pads and could clearly see they had lots of padding. When I came to pick it up had a $800 dollar bill for pads all around and rotors turned. The rear rotors were clearly not turned since the had a lip on the end of rotor. All I needed was the front pads replaced. I asked them to put old parts in trunk of car and they didnt. I know they are trained to rip elderly people off.
Had to return a whole bunch of rotors and the employees were very considerate of what I was needing and took care of me
I NEVER write reviews, but I had to voice my TERRIBLE experience. Prior to booking an appointment at 10am, I asked the gentleman how long it would take because I had a meeting to attend later that day. He ensured it would take 30 minutes to 1 hour. It is now 2 HOURS later and they are now just taking my car back. I’m sitting here watching my car sit for another 10 minutes in the garage- no one is working on it. Now I have to cancel my meeting.STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE THINGS PLANNED LATER IN THE DAY!
Im giving 3 stars because the staff was nice and the job was completed. But truly, my experience was not great. Not even moderately. I usually use J’S TIRES on Kirkwood hwy, but chose these guys cause the price was better with all that I had to get done.. I was extremely inconvenienced. First off, was told 2 different prices and that they would honor the first price, just tell them when i come in. Well, that didn’t happen. Even when i said, I was told original price would be honored, I was just ignored. I had a morning appointment, my car was to be done before noon. I called about 2 hours in and they said my car was just being taken back. This was ridiculous to me, why schedule and appointment if my car isnt being worked of for 2 hours. They had my car 4 hours. When I came to pick up I had to wait and additional 15 mins for paperwork to be completed. (Shouldve been done) Jump forward two days, and I notice my tire is low on air and cap is missing. I call and they will take me in pretty much right away, they were very accommodating about that. Originally they were telling me it had to be later, but after explaining some things they managed to get it fixed and when I brought it in this second time they completed the job quick, as it wasnt much that needed to be done.I just feel like I was so inconvenienced and not paid back appropriately. A sign in the waiting room said 100% satisfaction guaranteed, I am not 100% satisfied... and all i got was a “10%” discount that was the first price they told me they would honor but didnt..
I came to this place around noon requesting for an oil changes on my old car, the guy on the service counter said that they would do it but I had to wait for an hour, so I asked him if I could leave the car and come back later to pick it up, he said no problem. When I came back 4 hours later, they said that they had not done it yet, that since I didnt make an appointment, that I had to wait longer. This is to me unbelievable. The first guy didnt say anything about any appointment necessary... I would suggest just stay away from this place... really poor customer service.
I made an appointment for oil change and showed up on time. After 3 hours I received my keys.
While I was in the middle of placing a large order online to receive the discounts offered Pep boys was doing a website update which didnt allow me to checkout. I went into the store to gather the parts and Lisa was a great help in gathering the materials for us making sure they matched. She went out of her way to make sure we got everything we needed and helped us get the discount we couldnt get due to website issues. Thanks Lisa!!
Worst experience Ive ever had. Normally I let my grandfather change my oil, but I had a $20 coupon and figured you cant beat that. Went in and dropped my car off, specifically asked for synthetic oil and a tire change and they said okay and I left. 5 hours later they call and say my car is ready so I go and pick it up. The guy said they put conventional oil instead of synthetic, no big deal, whatever. Not even 5 minutes down the road my car starts smoking and my entire car smelled like burning rubber. I turn around and go back and open the hood, still smoking and oil spilled all over my engine. Absolutely ridiculous. These are peoples cars theyre messing with and they cant even do a simple oil change right. I get that mechanics are super busy, but at least put the oil I asked for in my car. Damn. Only gave 3 stars because the gentleman that helped us through the whole thing was so wonderful and polite.
Much better selection than my old go to Advanced Auto Parts. I dont think they carry as much these days. But if you like to compare filters for your car like me, Pep Boys is the old/new kid in Newark.... They were my go to before Advanced... then theyre selection shrank and Advanced got bigger... now Pep Boys must be listening to their customers and carries more of a selection while Advanced cant keep up. Anyways, Im rattling on. You can stop reading now!!
Fabulous service. Frank at the parts counter helped figure out how to get my key fob opened and replaced the batteries for me. Saved me from paying dealership prices. I couldnt be more grateful. Frank at Pep Boys to the rescue!!!!
Took an appointment for wheel hub assembly inspection. Customer service was satisfactory, kept me on wait for a long time just for the inspection. Eventually I was given a quote for over 600$. Took my car to meineke, got the job done under 300$ . I get part cost may vary but even the labour charge was almost half.
They gave a price for original estimate. Upon another problem occurring afterwards they held honor to the original estimate. Might not be the cheapest you deal with but the service and persistence to problem resolution was worth my money
All about car among parts and products, parts cleaning products, spare parts tires tools bulbs accessories in general. with mechanics to exchange their parts with scheduling. Overall a good place to buy parts with easy access and free parking I recommend and use it with a certain frequency. I could not stop talking about the good service with employees who always take good care of us with an excellent professionalism.
I paid for an oil change, they didn’t change the oil. They over filled my oil and caused my engine to fill up with oil. Never coming here again, spent $70 to get scammed.
Driving down the road a guy beeps me and tells me my taillight is out. Another woman beeps me and tells me my back tire is out of air. I freak out and call Pep Boys. They Were PHENOMENAL!!!! Not Only did they check my lights (which were Fine 😒) but they also put air in my tire and checked why my engine light was on in a polite manner. Many ppl take advantage of females when it comes to cars. I didnt get that at All! Thank You!!!
Great trustable service technicians
