On October 20th shortly after 1 p.m. I called the shop and spoke to Jamau. I explained that I just had my car jump-started and most probably needed a new battery. Can you install one for me? Jamau said yes. I arrived at the shop and Jamau kindly greeted me and since I am disabled he let me stay in the car while he installed a new battery in a timely manner! It seemed within minutes I was back on Main Street driving away. Thanks again Jamau!
Would not recommend this place. I had one flat tire due to puncture a couple weeks ago and had it towed to this shop. The car was brand new with only three month old. It’s a tiny hole and supposed to be a simple fix. The manager (I assume) checked on it and told me it cannot be fixed and need to be replaced. I accepted the conclusion and moved my car out of the shop. I briefly talked with a technician who seems to be very nice and gave me some advice. The manager shouted at me and asked me to leave. He seemed to be afraid that technician would tell me some insider information. Really ridiculous.
Traveling by myself when my tire started to lose air pressure, I was hesitant to walk into a mechanic when I wasnt sure what I was dealing with. The two gentleman working today (Mike and Tom) not only fit me in right away, but they were honest about the state of my tire. It needed to be replaced and they did not have the right tire, but they gave me suggestions and confirmed I could make it home safely. They were very considerate and I felt like I was in good hands! While I sat in the waiting area I could not help but notice it was not just me they interacted with in this way- every customer who came in got the same treatment. I am not from the area, but if I was I would definitely keep coming back!
These guys are awesome here! The prices are great, the service is always quick, and the staff is always super friendly, you cant beat it. They always answer all of my questions and go above and beyond with their services. I have been going to them for quite some time now to get my car serviced and plan on remaining a loyal customer. I arrived in Newark from out of state and my automatic transmission started acting up at the end of the drive. It was a Saturday afternoon, and many shops were either closed or not doing any diagnostic work that afternoon. Thankfully, I found Monro on East Main Street. Manager Mike Rowsey had one of his techs take a look at my car right away, and though the problem had gone away, they still took it out for a test drive, ran a scan, and checked all my fluids. I was confident they gave me a thorough check and I felt safe driving home the next day. Thanks Mike and Tom for taking great care of me when I was in a bind!

I had to drive a long distances but the tire suddenly got flat and also had a problem with changing to spare tire, which I had to struggle for two hours under the sun. I literally called everywhere and they were the only one who were caring, friendly, gentle, and kind. And of course, they were very professional with their work. I definitely recommend.
Stay away from this place. Had muffler & pipes replaced, driving back home heard loud banging noises coming from rear of car. Went back 2 days later to have them correct it. Driving back home same loud banging noise as before. Called & complained before coming back a 3rd time to correct same problem! After 3rd visit .... Same problem!!! Incompetent service technician. Went directly over to Meineke Muffler shop in Wilmington, service tech put car up on lift and 10 minutes later identified and showed me the problem of muffler being improperly installed. Charged me $80.00 to fix - problem resolved!!!

On my way home from a trip I had an object hit my rim and tire. Popped my tire and bent my rim. I was able to get my tire fixed but my rim was causing my tire to go flat. I had to stop at Monro to try to get it fixed. Mike was at the counter. The help I got from him was far and beyond what I expected. He went out of his way to assure I was back on the road. He was truly professionalism at its best.

I took my car in after calling and scheduling an appointment and telling them exactly what was wrong. Guy on the phone was super nice and said it sounded like it could be my AC fan. I dropped my car off in the am a few days later and after not hearing from them all day I called and left a message asking what was up. They never called back so 2 days later I called again & they realized they just forgot about my car. The guy on the phone was yelling at some other guy in the background. They apologized and said they’d look at it immediately. No problem! Mistakes happen...I wasn’t upset or anything. Then they called me back 20 minutes later and said they couldn’t fix my car. They said it was the AC compressor that was broken and that I had to call the dealership because it was too complicated for them. So I went and picked it up. Obviously they didn’t charge me. I didn’t call the dealership because they’re always more expensive so I called another shop in New Castle, DJ’s Automotive. I dropped it off, he called a few hours later saying it was my fan and he’d have it done in a couple hours and I went and picked it up that day. AC has never been colder!!! I gave Monroe 2 stars cause they were nice front desk workers but I’ve never had that happen before...a place saying they can’t fix something...especially after having a car for that long.
If you want to find a place with good service then do not go to Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers in New Ark DE. I was impressed and gave them a good review when it came to replacing my brakes about two months ago, yet upon returning I noticed that they lied to me and did not fix my car in a timely manner. I came in on a Tuesday and asked if they could fix my car by Thursday. Lee the manager said yes. Due to the shop being busy my car had not even been started by Thursday and on top of it all Lee did not call to tell me that it wasn’t going to be done on time. I had to come into the shop and find out causing me to give a late notice to my boss about not being able to come into work on Friday. Lee also promised to have it finished on Friday so I could go to work on Saturday and to my complete and utter surprise it was also not finished on Friday and I did not receive a call from Lee again. Effectively causing me to have to go in the shop again to figure out what was going on with my car. Lee was kind enough to offer me a car ride home and pay for the gas that I used going to work. Yet, I find this to be unacceptable. I was supposed to have my car by Thursday night and they did not finish until Monday night. On top of that Lee had said that I would get a discount on the original price which never happened and that he would pay for a part on my car which also did not happen. He only paid for half after all of the trouble that I put up with. He did have his wife bring the car to me but if you are looking for a shop to fix your car I would not choose this one.
I cannot say enough good things about Monro😁 the customer service is excellent and they really go above and beyond to work with the customer... especially when they have a tight budget. My husband is a disabled vet and they really went out of their way to help with the repair and took excellent care of him and our vehicle. Highly recommend Monro!!!!! 👍👍👍👌👌👌
Monroe Auto repair in Newark De, is under new management. Lesley, the new manager is an awesome manager. He is friendly, professional, and customer service oriented. He will do whatever needs to be done to keep the service center running smoothly. While I was there he answered phones scheduled appointments checked out clients and helped out in the service side just to keep the scheduled clients happy. The mechanics there are not slackers either. Great team work guys! Team work makes the dream work!
Ive been trying to get my alternator belt readjusted after the assistant manager overtightened it and caused my car to squeal nonstop. When I spoke with the assistant manager last Friday, he scheduled me at 1PM Saturday to fix it. Thing is, and this is backed up by the mechanics there, the esteemed assistant manager likes to close the shop at 12PM and not tell anybody.

Let me start out by saying that prior to today I had nothing but AWFUL experiences with Monro. The previous manager had a terrible attitude and repairs were never done in a timely manner. An oil change took 7+ hours and then he had the audacity to ask for a positive google review.There’s a new manager Michael and he has the absolute best customer service, positive attitude and I was in and out for my oil change/tire rotation in less than an hour! Thank you Michael for turning this location around!

Although they appear to be a little short-handed, that does not take away from the quality of service. The new manager definitely knows good customer service. None of my calls went unanswered and he was always straight-forward with me which I appreciated. He also worked to accommodate my financial situation. Overall, great service and great work on my car! We were on I-95, passing Newark, when the gas line ruptured. It was Sunday on a holiday weekend. We called AAA, but none of the first 3 shops they tried were open. On the fourth try, they reached Monro, and the owner said that he and his partner would try to help. We were towed there - myself, my wife and our Doberman.Lee and Tom put aside the work they were doing and focused on getting us on the road again. They started with the least expensive option and, as each try failed to hold, they worked their way up. It took four tries to get a fix that would hold and be safe. In the process, gas got spilled in significant amounts on the floor of their shop and on themselves. They were calm and professional, and worked as clean as possible. They assured us that - one way or another they would get us on our way that same day, and, four hours later, they did!They billed us very modestly for their services, and it was very apparent that they got much satisfaction out of helping us out. And, dont forget, it was Sunday!When we got home, I took the car to my regular mechanic. He and I inspected the repair to be sure it could be regarded as a permanent fix.The workmanship we saw was high quality, and I feel confident we wont have that problem again.Lee and Tom, Thank you so much! Old review from different management that was 5 stars and years ago. They are great here! Fast, friendly, fair pricing, honest, and more. They only reason I go anywhere else is if a dealership has to do it, like when my engine had to come out for a repair. The new gentleman in charge is awesome too.New review, just dont go here its super shady now. Please go to real mechanics. They wont ask for under the table cash transactions instead of going through the system where the work would have to be guaranteed.

I am very pleased with my experience. I called in on Friday morning to see if they could replace a tire for me. I spoke with the manager Lee who promised me that he’d have by car done by the time that I got off of work that day. He sure enough fit my repair in and had my car ready the minute I left work. Stopped in after one of my radiator hoses split and my car began running hot. I didn’t have time to leave it there with them being so busy but the staff helped me find the cut hose end and even filled up my coolant before I left. Attentive staff and excellent service!

Fast and super friendly people. They were short handed from people out sick and the one and only tech still had me done fast while multitasking on other cars. Had tires installed and ride is smooth and no issues. The gentleman who works the service counter was really nice too.
Weve been using this shop for almost a year now . Our first experience was wonderful and they were able to fix a problem for less than 1/2 the cost that their competitors wanted . Today, I Stopped in to have a sound checked in my brakes. The staff was very courteous and informative. Never once did I feel like I was being pressured into spending extra money. I highly recommend the shop as it is very hard to find an honest and reliable mechanic in our area.
Matt assisted me immediately after I showed up with a nail in my tire. I arrived to my car after shopping in the Newark Shopping mall across from them to find my tire flat. I slowly drove across to Monroe and they patched it & had my back on the road in about 30 minutes. Great service!
Thank you for all you did for my family. When life decided to throw one at us, we were in good hands with Monro. We had car trouble while driving to see our sick Aunt. When he heard our dilemma that we were stuck far away from home with 3 children and military obligations, the Manager took it to heart. He supplied our family with refreshments on the spot and not only was the problem efficiently addressed, but the Manager went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. Military duty requirements forced us to return to our duty station before the repairs could be finished. The Manager personally drove our vehicle down to North Carolina to make sure we got our vehicle after ensuring no other issues existed. Very honest repair shop. 100% recommend. Military friendly! I hit a bad pothole while on the roads and ended up getting a huge screw caught in the middle of the tire, puncturing it and causing a tear in the sidewall. I came to Monro on such short notice for a flat repair not even noticing the tear on sidewall. They were backed up and short staff with only the manager and one crew. Lee the store manager went far above and beyond to help me get my tire taken care of and obtaining a new tire for me the next morning. The staff are all amazing, hard working, Outstanding service and very Respectful. I would without a doubt recommend this Monro’s and be back in the future when it comes to servicing my vehicle. The new Mgr lee is great. After a heated argument about not rotating tires included on the oil change coupon we agreed to disagree. it always seems like their corporate coupons have amazing offers individual stores can’t honor. (E.g- $16 oil change w/free wiper blades). I needed the tires high speed balanced/rotated anyway after my mechanic put new ones on, so lee let me use the $30 coupon for that along with the $20 oil change coupon and then at the end of the day gave me a $10 discount on the bill. Now you still have the annoying hidden fees that bring the price way up but seems like that’s everywhere with large corporation coupons. But all that service for just over $50 you just can’t beat.
I had an appointment at 9am. I was about 5 minutes behind, the service was amazing, and although they didnt see anything wrong, I was not charged a penny! Instead, they told me if anything happens to bring it right to them, I dont even have to call! They were the nicest people I have ever dealt with at a car repair shop. Excellent service from the manager, Jack. I brought my car in for front break work and a bolt/part broke somewhere when the mechanics were working on my car and the part costed something like $160 to be replaced. The mechanics fixed this but did not tell me the full cost until I came and picked it up therefore Jack took the expense off and I only had to pay the amount I was told on the phone before arriving which did not include the $160 part.(break rotors and pads were all I thought I was going to have to pay for) Jack was extremely patient and understanding and told me that he was going to remove the charge before I could even ask him to do so.

I have to say, Monro Muffler and Brake are genuinely some of the most honest mechanics Ive encountered and thanks to their honesty I am not only safe but my pocket hasnt been emptied by an unsafe money pit of a car.I went in for a standard oil change, even to get my engine flushed because I wasnt sure if the previous owner had regular oil changes and I wanted to make sure I cleaned out any sludge in there. The mechanics did a courtesy inspection of the vehicle and thank god they did. They found that both rear bushings were bad, that my rear control arms were facing the wrong way, that my front left tie rod was bent from being towed improperly, and that all 3 of my engine mounts were bad. I had been deceived by the person I bought the car from and told the vehicle had certain issues but never anything as dangerous as this.They couldve insisted I fix the vehicle there and nickle and dimed me for years, but instead they were honest with me. It turns out the previous owner had completely totaled the car, which explains a lot. The whole repair would be well over 1500 what the vehicle is worth and instead of guaranteeing themselves 2 years of repairs and work they instead did the right thing and guaranteed themselves a customer in the long term the right way. I am so blessed that I went here on someones recommendation. I cant imagine what wouldve happened at a less reputable garage.Id recommend them to all of my family and friends. Well, I’ve been going to Monro for years. When Darren left (store manager) I went one time, the store manager was Chuck, he was extremely unprofessional and did a lousy job on my vehicle. Actually the oddest thing happened, I paid for a synthetic blend oil change and waaaay before I was close to hitting the mileage that would make me due for another oil change, my car started screaming at me that I was low on oil and I had to keep turning my car off so it didn’t blow up!!! That has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!!! Obviously “Chuck” didn’t put in the proper amount of oil and definitely didn’t give me the synthetic blend that I Paid for!!! FURIOUS!!!! Well since my car was screaming at me, I Had to get oil in it immediately so I had no other choice but to bring it back to Monro, I was HAPPILY GREETED by a New store manager Lee, he was extremely professional and willing to help in anyway he could!! We went out to my car as I asked him to look at my oil dip stick, I had Nothing left in my oil tank and I still had 800 miles to go until I Needed another oil change!! Well as I swore I would NEVER EVER GO BACK TO MONRO.... LEE WON ME OVER AND MY BUSINESS WITH HIS PROFESSIONALISM!! THANK YOU LEE!!! I’ll see you in another 5000 miles!! I think headquarters should mail out a letter to all past customers of the Newark, Main Street facility letting them know that CHUCK is No longer there and to welcome Lee as their new manager!!! IF I COULD GIVE THIS SHOP NO STARS,I WOULD! I made an appointment for an alignment. I took my car there an there wasnt even a mechanic there for the appointment. NEVER called to reschedule. I bring it back for another appointment the guy over charged me then claims I needed a bunch of work before he can do the an aligment. A waste of your time!

Monro muffler was very quick to take of my car. They were very polite and straight forward. They let me see what the problem was and how they were gonna fix it. Because it a was a surface problem they didnt charge me anything! Great service and generosity. My mom had been going to this garage for years and now i understand why.
I went to Monro with trouble with my tires and my brakes and had no idea what was going on. My son recently got his permit and I was afraid of letting him drive unsure of the safety of the car. The techs at Monro explained every problem with the vehicle I had and when I couldnt afford all the repairs, they helped me determine what absolutely needed to be done that day and what we could put off until later. They were extremely helpful, polite and kind. Im definitely going back to get the rest of the work done on my car, I trust their work.

Started our trip from Long Island at 4am headed for Disney world, four hours in and our brakes went . We pulled in to Monroe muffler and brake in Newark Delaware and was greeted by Lee the manager . He took our van in right away and has been working on it almost 13 hours to get us back on the road again today . He even gave us money to get dinner up the road . The shop was supposed to close at 7 tonight but its 945pm and lee is still here working on our van . He has exceeded our expectations and has done everything possible to make a bad situation a little better for us . His professionalism and kindness should be rewarded

They did a great job on my truck, and were honest about the costs, and what needed to be done.Now, Ive had some bad visits here in the past, but it looks like they are finally getting back on their feet. In the past 2 years, Ive seen 4 or 5 managers come through here, and each one all focused on money, and not on customer service. What kept me coming back was a tech, Nick, that was more concerned with me as a customer and not just grabbing my money. I came in for an Oil change, and thought I needed suspension work too. Luckily Nick was there to clear that up and it turns out it was just my brakes that was the problem. I almost spent $700 I didnt need. If one of those other greedy managers were there, Im sure they would have taking my complaint and ran with it and charged me out the wazoo for work that was unnecessary.Im glad that Nick has stuck around. Hes only a tech but he should be a manager. Hes worlds better than the shyster managers theyve had in the past! Hes the saving grace for this place!
I was in for 4 separate repairs on 4 separate days last week, on my 2nd day coming in, they gave me a personalized experience. They’ve met me, both my dogs, and made sitting through all my repairs a fun and enjoyable experience. And I hate waiting! Everything was completed with urgency and in shorter time than other shops. I spent about 30m-2hr per repair which usually would have taken 3x the amount of time. Most importantly, they had been able to diagnose the problems with my car when 5+ shops had guaranteed me my car was 100% okay.
My wife told me she went it for an oil change and they fixed something else on her car at no additional charge! Thanks, guys! you will seldom, if ever, get that from anywhere else! Good guys! Great Manager

I went to Monro about a month ago when I dropped my engagement ring in the emergency brake of my car. I called in a frenzy and they were able to schedule me the same day for the service. Not to mention I arrived an hour early and they took my car right away. The guys were very professional and the service was not too expensive at all! I would definitely recommend them to anyone based on their professionalism, willingness to accommodate, and price for service.

I’ve been going to the Monroe Mufflers on Kirkwood highway for 3 years with a 2004 Acura MDX. It’s an older car and has quirks that are easily worked around. I went to the Kirkwood shop and had a rapport with the mechanics there and they always knew how work with my car. That location closed down and I went to the new location in Newark. In this new spot the regular Mechanics had no say in the work being done and the “Master” mechanic’s only point is to squeeze out every penny from customers instead of providing just the service being asked for. Also, it’s pretty sad when a “Master” mechanic doesn’t know the difference between a loose connection between a lead and a terminal and loose connection between a post and a terminal on a car battery. Needless to say, they will not get my business any longer.
I usually dont write reviews and this is after over 3 weeks for waiting on a call back. I had to call and get an update. I originally brought my car in to look at the AC, when they were inspecting my car ( Billy) did something to my windows where it was not going up. Instead of telling me they let me drive away, I notice I had cardboard on my window, when I pulled over to take it down my window would not go back up. I returned same day and was told oh that normally happens and was cut a deal since I was not told. I scheduled my appointment where I was promised Billy would not be working on my car. I dropped my car off and returned three hours later. I had to wait an additional 3 hours as other customers came and went without appointments. I was then called out by the manager Lee and informed Billy has broken my car window. I did not scream, yell or even react. I was told I would get a call the next day when the part has been ordered. I have waited over 3 weeks and had to call today to be informed they still have not even order the part. STAY AWAY!!!! And my AC is still not fixed!!

Corporate had told me to get a follow up on a repair that went wrong with another location in the chain. For reasons of scheduling and experiences(in aramingo review), this is the only one I could get to.I told the owner my issue which is in middle section,—-car started vibrating loud and strong and was unable to maintain basic speed/was stalling in Harrisburg to where it was a hazard to drive. I took it to vavoline who looked under the car and said there was an exhaust leak around the Catalina converter.I was referred to the Monro across the street who told me a spark plug had shot through the coils into the intake and that they would need to replace all coils and spark plugs and repair intake. This was $938 or so in cost.I was told they’d take 3 hours-it took 12.Upon leaving my car still stalled and I was told it was a transmission issue(over clean) that would go away.——-Anyway I told the owner that the repairs left my car still stalling and occasionally needing multiple tries to start up.We eventually scheduled for Monday morning.I handed over my keys, repeated the situation and gave them the invoice at 8am.At 3:58 pm I called and was told the car hadn’t been looked at for the problems I mentioned but that I was missing two motor mounts(from the last place I had been missing one) and how they would need an additional $930 or so. (I was only interested in warrantied work related to whatever was done wrong in the previous repair.)I had to keep calling and was told for the second time they would talk to the other place to see what was done and call me back in twenty minutes. I waited and called again at 4:41pm and was told that they found an issue in coils but couldn’t tell if the other place had caused it and that the other place had only repaired spark plugs. I expressed that I had taken video of the car within 24 hours of leaving and recorded the car was having trouble starting and well as developing video to show the issues didn’t go away but even led to engine light coming on.They then said that they would call the guy back. And call me backThen I called again. And they said he had done the coils and that they had someone from ford(my car is a ford) doing diagnostics but I would have to leave the car overnight.At this point I live in Philadelphia and work in deleware and between being lied to about my car and not having work don’t despite an appointment I didn’t trust them with my car and did not expect to find a way back to Philly at night and back to work. He suggested then that I stay in a hotel which also wasn’t an option.I showed up to get my car and was told they had repaired some wiring in the spark plugs but hadn’t investigated the new startup issues beyond saying my fuel air reader is no longer working.While they were working on it I heard a quieter version of the same issue I’d had in Harrisburg. On my way home. My car was louder and shook on the highway as they’d told me it should be because of mounts. Not only does the car engine shake, the leak sounds and seems to be back.I called in to tell them so and was told to come in,I finally came Saturday morning and was told he needed me to pay him for a new diagnostic fee or he wouldn’t look at it(not even the issues of stalling and start up that I came for that they initially said they needed more time for) and blamed the car for the issues that started the night I left their place. I have no idea why.I’ve never gone in for diagnosis and left worse. But with Monro I came in and was told what I needed for repairs, and in getting issues from the repairs resolved I’ve had unsavory exeriences getting an appointment and he appointment I got lied to me, wasted my time twice, added more damage to my car and demands money outside of warranty.I would only do small scale problems or straight forward issues with Monro, watch them working on the car and record it driving in and out. Also if any problems come up, let someone else look at it and even have them look at it before telling them it’s watranty.
Great service. Had to leave the area and they got me in within a half hour. Super appreciate them and would recommend.
I am glad I decided to get an oil change here. Outstanding service! I did not have a coupon and the manager applied one for me, wonderful customer service. I was sick of the Firestones and Pepboys. For a nationwide store it has a local feel with personalized service. I will definitely be returning. I suggest you all do the same and let them have your business!

I have used this location multiple times with 2 different cars and never had any issues. In fact, the staff there has always been kind and helpful. I have made 2 appointments in a 5 day period for AN OIL CHANGE ONLY, both times they shop couldnt do the work on the day of the appointment due to be short staffed. Neither time did I get a call prior to my appointment time stating that it could not be completed same day. I work an hour away and left early to make it to only be 2 blocks away and told that they were short staffed, over booked and couldnt guarantee my appointment (I called them). And though the gentleman (who previously Id himself as a manager in our prior interaction) remembered this was my 2nd attempt for this routine service, he hung up on ME! I understand stress of be understaffed but effective communication and empathy especially when you are in the wrong will go a long way in retaining clients and PERHAPS EVEN RETAINING RELIABLE STAFF. Alas, I will no longer come to Monro for service for the foreseeable future.

Buyer Beware. I have been in this store many times, lured in by cheap, quick oil changes. Their advertised prices are deceptive and the employees know this and think it funny. My last visit for an oil change they overfilled my oil so much (like all the way up the stick) I took the car to another garage and had some oil drained out so not to damage the engine. Ive been lied to in this store about my brake pads: You need to change your brake pads. My Dad was a mechanic and taught me enough to know when someone is lying about cars. Do not shop here. Constantly trying to sell the college kids numerous repairs that they do Not Need.
We’re nice and came to pick up site and changed my flat tire. Good and fast service.

Great place for oil change.
The first oil change was fine. The second, I waited for about 2 hours for my oil to get done, when it should have been 45 minutes. They kept trying to show me things I needed done on my car (they really did need done, but I told them I needed to get back to work) and would not focus on getting my car put back together after the oil change. Not going here again.
Horrible! Avoid at all costs!I brought my car in last year to be serviced before a long road trip. They tried selling me a bunch of additional services, which I accepted, and then they didnt even do what they said they were going to do! I paid for an alignment and never got one! My car still drifts to the left the same as it did before I brought it there!Monro is horrible. They will try to take as much of your money as they can, and then they wont even perform the services you paid for. Disgusting business, terrible service, and it will be a great day when they are no longer in operation!
