Tried today for the first time. The bakery looks clean and busy and large assortment of sweet and savory delicacies. However I just tried drinks here and ordered Cafe Latte, Jasmine Green Tea Cafe Machiatto and Hazelnut Cafe LatteFirst they messed up my order was given 2 cafe lattes instead of Tea and taste wise no difference between caramel and hazelnut, and oh there was no visible caramel as well in the drink.
I often come here and buy some cake for my family, my friend, and everyone I know for the special events. The most delicious one is Red velvet. Everyone keeps asking me where did I get it after they tasted it. This place is the best outstanding one for the cake or bakery lover. Everything here are wonderful. The staffs are nice and friendly. You will not definitely disappointed. ❤️
They dont accept American Express credit cards here. The bakery items are good, especially the cakes. If I spend $10-20 dollars and ask for ice water please give a medium sized cup or larger. If you give such a small cup of water and I ask for one more because there are 2 of us please dont be annoyed. I understand the bathroom is closed there, but still it was a warm day.
When you walk into 85C Bakery Cafe - Newark youll instantly be hit with the smell of warm pastries. Everything here looks great, smells amazing, and taste even more delicious than the pictures show. I recommend the chocolate loaf, seriously, its amazing. Also, dont let the pictures fool you, the bakers are always churing out fresh pastries for you to buy. 10/10
Good selection of bakeries and drinks. Good Customer Service.
The variety of baked goods and treats they have on offer is pretty impressive. From various breads to muffins to cakes and plenty in between, I think anyone could find something theyd like as a dessert there. Having everyone take a tray and pick items with tongs from the various display cases is definitely a different experience than most other places Ive gone, but it works smoothly and helps keep the line moving quickly.
Went here with my girlfriend. Customer service was great. Very friendly. Love the pastry and boba tea. We sat there for a long time. I guess it was early in the afternoon so not too many people yet.🌹🌹❤❤😘😘💓💓👍👍
I love the ambiance, i love those baked goods. Keep it up guys.
Get here early (but not too early) on the weekend for a better variety of bread available. I like some of the bread, especially the ones with cream cheese. I usually get them for breakfast as they are individually wrapped. My go-to drink is Sea Salt Mountain Tea with boba.Tip: Parking can be crazy during dinner time, consider parking on the other side of the complex.*October 2018 Promotion* Buy One Get One Sea Salt Coffee on Mondays
Found this place on Google Map and we came to try their tart, spinach Danish, and red bean bun. All three tasted divine!! The tart had its sweetness just right and the spinach had a mild salty touch to it. We also tried the hot boba tea, our first time having it hot. The hot boba tea felt kinda odd at first but I ended up liking it very much. The only down side of this place is that there’s no wifi and they don’t have much French pastry with meat to offer like the pate chau. Still like it for the great red bean bun and tart.
They have an interesting selection of buns. I was hoping to find scallion pork buns but they didnt have any. I tried the red bean bun which was very fresh and delicious. My mom had the egg tart which she thought was very good. They also have beautiful looking cakes and a lots of hot and cold drink options. We didnt get to try those but they looked tasty.
Came here at closing time. Chairs on the table already. The baker was talking to the customer in front of me and they are just taking their time ............. first sentence cashier said was not “welcome to 85”, it was “we only accept card”. And I ordered a boba tea. She said “we don’t have boba anymore “. Well. If you close at 10, it means the business function normally until 10.The main reason I gave a 1 star is the altitude from the associate. No smile and bad alritu
Wonderful selection of cakes and pastries and nice spacious area to sit.
Surprised to see only few options. Service was meh. Good coffee though.
Over price for the quality.I hope they dont try to sell burned egg custard....pls
First time there, everything was pretty good
You go to the store for a cake and you end up with a bag or 2 of stuff.
Went by around 3pm Friday and it was fairly empty. Few people going in and out but no lines. Got a variety of breads, sweet and savory, and we thought were absolutely delicious. Our favorite is likely the bread with taro mixed in it. Its extremely moist and subtly sweet.
This is one of those places who prioritize walk-in customers over DoorDash drivers. I watched as the staff served 8 customers, made me wait 25 minutes for a simple milk tea in which my DoorDash customer has to wait 25 extra minute for her order. I am now reconsidering supporting this business because I also happen to be a loyal customer, no longer.Drivers don’t get paid waiting around. And DoorDash customers are also paying customers too. Horrible practice!
An excellent bakery complete with just about everything you need including coffee lattes and espressos. Their jasmine tea is genuine and a killer tasting tea and its one of my very favorite drinks.
Their pasties are the best. The one and only 85°.
Good place, good service
Always have wonderful experience here . Very nice place to have different kind of bread varieties and lovely yummy cakes ..
Great service in and out quick. Nice staff And a tasty selection to choose from. Five stars.💪🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Nice customer service good deserts
Ordered 4 tea drinks on 8/14 around 6pm. They mistakenly added caramel to all 4 drinks. It is really AWFUL! I wondered why the lady who made the drinks kept shaking them before passing them to me, until I got a chance to take one cup out, found the color is really weird, tasted so bad that we had to toss them away. The lady apparently knew something was wrong but still offered us the weird drinks she made. DO NOT BUY DRINKS FROM HERE! At least don’t try it recently, you got a chance to be served by this awful employee.
Delicious Pastries and Good Coffee
Been here several times and bread is good. But this time I requested a sea salt jasmine green tea with light ice and half sugar, and got a tea with half the cup filled with ice and tastes like honey. I mean, if you wont give me something that Ive ordered, dont let me customize it.
The best bakery on town.
The mango creme brulee cake is my favorite, as it isnt real sweet, and the fresh fruit adds a nice balance. It typically comes with a fresh strawberry topping, but I received mango/pineapple topping because I am deathly allergic to strawberries. It was a big hit at our annual family Christmas celebration.
Liked their bread. The sea salt coffee they have is good.
Delicious Asian/French style bakery with fresh baked goods coming out all the time. Also has bubble tea and coffee. The tapioca balls are adequate but not great. However the tea is pretty good and they have my favorite topping, the salted milk foam cap. Its hard to find outside of 85C and well worth a shot.
The sea salt coffee was disappointed. The coffee is sour, probably not brewed properly. The strawberry mousse was rough, not smooth at all.
Heard about this place from friends who live in the area and because I dont frequent the area this is my first chance to review this place. And I am pleased to say I am impressed. The coffee was served nice and hot and you can have them even serve it to your liking. With cream and sugar or just cream or as I like it...hit and black. I just wondered why I was given that strange look at first and realized that this wasnt a Peets or a Starbucks. Their market of people liked their coffee this way. It was good though. Their baked goods were another thing as well. The sweet breads werent overly sweet and their savory breads were delicious. I would have left this place with one or two of everything but had to control myself. Put the brakes on...hard! Ill definitely be back and will review this place again.
I always come to this place when I crave for sea salt coffee. Also tried their cakes and they are good.
A great place to find a huge variety of tasty pastries. Its self-service when you pick out your items and pay at the counter. There is also a separate area to order coffees and teas. You order drinks at a digital kiosk. Friendly employees.
Pretty good cafe. Their Hazelnut Latte (hot) is tasty, just right on the sweetness. $4 for a good size medium drink, not bad, and definitely cheaper than Starbucks!Pretty clean in general but does get crowded and loud on Sundays (I guess thats the day everyone likes to go there with family and friends).
Always freshly baked goodies!
The breads here are great; a lot of variety. I I have also tried the chocolate, strawberry, and mango cakes. I personally do not like the cakes since they taste artificially flavored. For instance, the chocolate was a lighter brown color and lacked a strong rich chocolate flavor.
Lots of yummy pastries and cakes. If you come after a certain time in the afternoon they stop baking and selection thins. (Understandable but just fyi) They offer some deals and they seem to fall on Monday or Tuesday usually.
Pastries galore! They are definitely a hit for both sweet and savory. Their cakes and desserts are ok, not as sweet as american desserts. The drinks are not my favorite, but good enough if you need something.
Cant stop myself picking what I wanted, unaware that the total price of everything came up to almost 40 dollars. Not that pricey, for me just average. Check it out and see for yourself.
Pleasant atmosphere and delicious baked goods. I got the tiramisu last time there. It was okay, but I have tried some of the other items and theyre good. Seems like it has something for everyone. 85c is worth a try for sure.
So many great things to eat, we couldnt make up our minds so we ended up with about a dozen things. The iced coffee was to die for.
Super yummy food!!! I bought A bag full of breads and treats
Dont ever buy milk tea from it. Worst I ever had. Tasteless, more like water80% and milk and tea blend together.😤
Great cafe, very clean, and courteous staff. Way better than my local one in Pleasanton. Food is a bit pricey but delicious. Highly recommend this place for a quick get together with friends.
I cant say enough about this place. Everything they make makes your mouth water. It starts with the bread, which is soft and buttery and incredible. Then they add all manner of fillings, from ham and cheese to mango and blueberry. They even have amazing cookies. It doesnt matter what you get here, you WILL crave more.
I really like the pastry. Great variaty. Specially when it comes out fresh. The coffee bar needs help. There was a 15-20 wait for our drinks mainly because the place was busy and there was one person making the drinks.
Best sea salt coffee in town. There might be huge lines and wait times sometimes. Evenings are the busiest. They have an assortment of pastry and freshly baked items. I like their idea of self serve.Recommend to try once.
Always the best with great variety
Very big bakery store, however the fresh pastry section is small in back of the store, the pastry is pricey, sold per piece but good tasting. They offer drink selection and celebratory cakes, that is good offer. It mostly busy and there is a line to purchase pastry with only 2 cashiers.
The baked goods are tasty but a little bit pricey. The sea salt coffee is an interesting drink. I think this is the best drink from 85C. Even though it serves Chinese style baked goods, its tea is not as good as its sea salt coffee. Now the line was much shorter than before. They only allow one gift card to be redeemed for one transaction. American Express is not accepted. Visa and Master cards are ok.
My go to for cheese dogs and a quick tea. Mango custard bun is also fueg
The first 85C in the Bay, I still remember 200 people waiting 2 hours in line to get a complementary mug and tote during the opening. This is definitely one of the more stable bakeries in the area (if youve been to all the 85s in the East and South Bay, you know what I mean). I rarely have any issues finding a specific bread that Im craving, so it looks like they have a solid supply chain. For example, I absolutely love the milk tea bun. That mild milk tea flavored filling with a soft jelly-like pearl in the middle, absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, its a bit of a stretch to find it at the Milpitas or Fremont branch. Never had any trouble finding one here, whether its at 10AM or just before dinner. They do the same drink promotions as the other branches, Monday is usually some kind of drink special. It was a BOGO coffee, but now its for their smoothies (summer promo and all). One thing to note is that if you come here anywhere from 12PM - 1PM over the weekend, dont expect to find any seating. Just tons and tons of families from Newark Buffet spilling over to stock up on bread for the week and to gossip among family members and making their kids feel bad about how their cousin got into a better school than they did.
Im not a fan of sweet or desert, so normally I skip those with too much sugar or fat. But they make decent plain bread. The store also sell coffee, so it smells like Starbucks with bakery.
Staff here is very friendly and nice! This place look like it got run over by a truck, glass door are super dirty and you can see spider web on top of the door entrance. This place need a huge remodeling. Other then this everything else is great.
Good baked goods and love their blended drinks. Sara was our clerk. Nice, polite, and very personable 👍
Definatly gone downhill. Guess they are not as busy so the food sits longer and drys out a bit. Still tasty. Good drinks but not as impressive as they used to be
One of the best bakery in the Bay Area. Cake is not that sweet like typical American cake.
Im an early bird and though they open 7a they really dont fill the display with bread until 8:30. They seem to bring out things that are not as popular. Perhaps they were from the day before. The quality seem to also have diminished yet the $ has gone up. This used to be my favorite place.
Tires of regular over-sugared deserts? Then visit this bakery because it is excellent choice for deserts. Their products are tasty, unusual, and very soft. When we visit our friends its a no-brainer place to get deserts from.
The non refrigerated baked good are great. The cheese cake and coffee cake were huge let downs
Wife loves it
Great bakery, good deserts and coffee too
The service from this place has gone down a lot. The people the are hired here do not know how to talk to customers. I tried coming here one more time after a few bad services and today was the even worst. They ran out of the wax paper for the trays. I asked one of the cashiers if there are more. I. A rude and irritating tone, she told ONE second!. I dont know why the tone. I was polite asking for the wax paper why give me the tone? Anyway I just left, I dont need to support this chain. The rep, Tiffany needs to be retrained.
Very good quality food
I am just don’t get it. Why everyone said it the best place in town. The cake just ok. The coffee and tea they like you drink water with milk. So, what is the deal???
Fresh bread fresh bread fresh bread. Thats what they scream out when freshly baked bread is out. Most buns are good. The cakes are good but one time it tasted stale and weird. We returned it for another.
I used to go to this bakery whenever Im in SoCal, because I thought we dont have it here up north.Well imagine my surprise when I was just driving around near where I live and found out about this place. Apparently theyve been opened for 2 years now, and Ive been living in the area for 4. Seriously? Im still kicking myself for not finding about this place sooner. They serve varieties of bread and cakes, but most of them are sweet, so Im not a big fan. The big winner is their specialty drinks! They serve this salted ice coffee with some kind of sour/sweet whip cream. Its very popular in Asia, but its not that easy to find in US.Safe to say I quickly made a quick visit and grab a drink. Price is not exactly the cheapest but still fair. I will definitely be coming back!
Nice place to go to for specialty coffee-based drinks and a variety of Asian-inspired pastry items. Next to the 99 Ranch Market, which made it convenient to go to for a snack.
Great place to hang out and have a beverage and snack. Great sweets! Great high-end pastries, individual sweets and cakes for special occasions. 💖💖💖👍💪
Food, pastry and coffee is meh at best. Staff is nice and cool.
I dont think the quality of drinks/breads or the customer service here are as good as the other locations.
Best white chocolate macadamia cookies I ever had. And their sea salt iced latte is a beverage I only know from there. So delicious with the salt.
Wow! A really fun, different bakery with a Chinese flair. Weve seen the crowds in front of this sparkling clean bakery / cafe and finally decided to plunge in. First, theres a cafeteria style bakery-style, self-serve. You go down a line, choose what you want, and then they pack it up for you. Second, theres a cafe that can beat the pants off of any Starbucks. And third, there is an amazing assortment of yummy yummy sweets and treats. Great place for a fun date stop, great place to buy pastries. Really unusual and a wonderful addition to the Fremont / Newark / Union City Tri-city area.
More often than not they will be out of most items. Selection is lacking compared to other bakeries and other 85C bakery stores. Crowds can be a bit of turn-off.Recommend: The rose cheese, taro bun, or brioche washed down with a sea salt coffee. I do not recommend their Black Forest cake.
A modern feel like bakery place with very tasty bread. The price is amazingly low and there are enough seat for you to hangout as well. Highly recommended!
Fits a pattern Ive noticed around the bay area: not as great as the anticipatory or early hype around opening, but still great, especially now that things have calmed down. They open pretty early even on weekends, so use the Google maps feature to see when its busy. I wish they made hot sea salt coffee, but the taro buns are very good, and the egg tarts make a great treat to bring to the office instead of doughnuts.
Super clean and has a nice vibe. Food is good. Definitely worth it.
First time ever at this place. Breathtakingly beautiful pastries. Worth the visit.
This is my go to bakery. Everything is awesome and fresh. The cases are full of every kind of bun, pastry, cupcake, savory, sweet. The chocolate hazelnut muffins are the best. They have a bacon cheese bread that is again awesome. They make one of the best red velvet cakes Ive had. Cream cheese frosting isnt too sweet or cream cheesey, I have to say Ive had a bunch of their baked goods and am still yet to ha e anything that was not made well and very tasty. If you need a cake for anything this is where I would go. Or maybe just a coffee, tea and a pastry. Cant go wrong with this place. Thay also have a number of locations. Google them you may have one closer than you think.
Decent baked goods. I think the quality has gone down over the years. Also appeals to a more mild palette as things here are less sweet.
Very friendly service, lots of choices for bread. My favorite is always the marble taro bun. Easy parking too!
I get the Sea Salt Black Tea and Lemon Black Tea every time I come here..... which is almost every day hahaha. Always have good service. Sometimes you can come in during a rush and you could have to wait in line for a few minutes but typically its not too bad.
Good place to get bakery items. Bought a cake for bday but no one liked it at home. Stale and very dry. Noticed lots of people in line so am sure they have few good things. Will check again and will update review
