Food was pretty good. Exactly what you want from a diner with a Portuguese twist. Hidden off the reserve but good food.
Last diners on Saturday nite, we ordered the shrimp parmesan plate and house salad for dinner. Colleen and I were unable to finish the meal, especially since they comped us a basket of toast and a bowl of good Greek style olives. A large basic salad, with very fresh lettuce and cukes. Seven massive, delicious shrimp that I would guess were a near couple ounces each before frying and a large heap of spaghetti in a light marinara sauce completed our repletion. In addition to all that, the service was prompt and friendly. All this for $26. Strongly recommended!
Great food. If you are the type that hates asking for stuff twice dont take yourself too seriously here. The food is GREAT.

Horrible bosses. Horrible service, and even more horrible food. We ordered payalla, a sea food dish for two. Food presentation was atrocious. We were the only customers in the entire restaurant. We had to call the waiters attention several times. The payalla was very salty and they refused to change it. They made us pay for everything even when we returned soggy mushrooms appetizer and salty main dish. There were flies all over our table and her explanation was that it was summer.Dont go, please. Take my word for it. We were taken there by a cousin and he was supper disappointed.
First time ever going there was today for lunch with a coworker. Got a bacon cheeseburger! I got to say one of the best tasting burgers I ever had!
Breakfast was pretty good but serious gnat/fruitfly issue in the dining area makes going back there unlikely.

Enjoyed an awesome breakfast at this diner, very clean, friendly, reasonable prices and they cook the old traditional way where everything is fresh and delicious plus when you get your toast the butter is already melted on it instead of them giving you small cubes of frozen butter so you can place it on the bread yourself, then the toast brakes because the butter is frozen and too hard like many other places do
Great hidden gem in the back pocket of the Iron Bound. José whips up the marvelous breakfasts and lunches at reasonable prices. Highly recommended
The food is good but what make hotspot unique is that it has a indoor soccer field attached to it. Most of the time I am at hotspot is just to play. The field also has a bar attached to it so after playing you can stop for a few drinks. The prices are competitive and they do offer a parking lot so not to much to complain about.

Sue, our waitress, was excellent. Lovely woman, very attentive, and very personable. Our family loved Sue so much we gave her a 30% tip. This diner is the real thing - Portuguese and Spanish food. Excellent food and great prices. We will return.
Not typically in this neck of the woods but we were shooting in the area and found this place for lunch. It was good and had a lot of character: part diner - part bar. We had burgers fries and typical breakfast food. It was all good. Our waitress did not speak English very well but was as nice as could be.
Food is Amazing
Whoever answered the phone was pretty nasty on the phone with me. He definitely had an attitude and when I inquired about certain items he didnt seem pleased that I was asking. My advice if youre going to manage a business learn to treat your customers with some respect and be a little more polite.
Food was horrible and tasteless. they told me they wont make several items off the menu. I ordered one of the specials of the day it tasted old and flavorless sent it back so I decided to just get a salad that still was disgusting the vegetables tasted unwashed and dressing tasted expired or left out. The one star is only because our waiter was so polite and understanding I kno he doesnt make the food!
A gem in the 90s, the food is average now, service too. Cant complain too much, needs updating all around, could be a contender in portuguese food scene if it had the right management.

A surprising find on our way to the airport! We had the beef stew and lemon chicken specials. So much food and it was really tasty. Its a nice diner. Clean great friendly service. Portuguese food. Generous portions. Not expensive for the amount of food. If you need to kill some time on the way to the airport this is worthwhile!

We are from NJ we were passing through needed to eat lunch so we stopped. the staff is very nice all of them .we got drinks and they serve in bottles .They were flat and expired . Were replaced immediately by the staff. The food was ok . Someone got a cheese steak and well it was not very good to say the least..The hamburgers were ok. so only a three star.

My coworkers choose this place every year to do Christmas dinners, our last experience was horrible, after spending on the party and a few more hundreds at the bar the Owner litteraly insulted us for dancing next to our table, his excuse was people need to pass by which we understood but there was nobody passing by that area. He is very rude/disrespectful, and dont plan on going back, there food wasnt even that great.
Great food, the chef is super kind and if youre a regular will treat you as if you were a childhood friend. Only complaint would be prices. 7 dollars for 3 pancakes and a few piece of bacon.

I was there during quiet time. Amazing contrast to sit in this really comfortable environment and to look out the window and see the mix of surrounding industrial landscape that overshadows the residential element. None the less, the food is really good, the people are kind andif you want a taste of Portuguese flair then it is perfect.
I guess masks arent required inside anymore. Not even the servers are wearing masks in this place.
The service here is amazing. The staff is extremely attentive and helpful with food suggestions. Ben was super nice and very friendly. Manuel the manager was also very nice. The food... wow... delish. There was such a good amount that I was able to take some home. The food is savory and fresh. The fried calamari was so tender and just dissolved in your mouth. Absolutely great food and service. I would reccomend this place for casual get together.

If I could give a 0 I would. I came out with 8 ppl they forgot one plate so one person didnt eat, cause their plate cause their food came out 30mind after we ate,we asked for discount they said no so we sent the plate of food back. than we asked to know the price of the drinks so we know what each person had to pay they didnt want to tell us cause the bill was already done 😡. Oh yeah & My cabrito was burnt 😔 the manager didnt even want to talk to me at all he sent me straight to the waiter. I will never come back & I will let everyone I know how horrible they treated us & didnt care about it at all!!!!

Went here later at night when we needed a place to go. my steak was mediocre and my wifes chicken wasnt cooked well at all. the only reason for two stars instead of one is the service was prompt and attentive.
First of all, I ended up here for a soccer game and I did have some food which it was bad. Chicken tenders were undercooked and the service was horrible. Besides that, the owner rude guy was very nasty in the way of talking to everyone ( meaning soccer players) he has no manners and treats people like garbage. He seriously said if you dont like it anything then just leave my place and just go. ( loud and again rude). Worst experience ever. Everyone was shocked and quiet. Now everyone here was sober and cool just enjoying a supposedly great night. I think this guys should be just inside his diner and that is it. Just send your manager to control at the soccer field, but you the owner stay put inside where people dont get frustrated with you. Other than that. Food, service is a zero to your place

My Motorcycle Group has its monthly meeting at this location and we also have a yearly Xmas party there as well... food is good. Very good.
Lively place with super friendly staff. The food was OK, but somewhat low quality (turkey and eggs included pan-fried turkey cold cuts, which were too salty and an odd texture). I also left with some concerns about cleanliness given that after our second coffee refill, a small bug appeared in one of our coffees.
This was my Buddy Georges Spot... The food is great and very reasonably priced especially their daily specials. Plenty of parking, off the beaten path...nice to have a beverage and a great meal with good company!!

The worst place to go eat in Newark The food is horrible and the manager is completely disgusting. He treats people like he is the president of the United States. I don’t even think the president ever treated someone like he does. I don’t know how someone can be so miserable like he is. He doesn’t have no respect with anyone. Either the people that works there or the costumes. My advice is NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE! The place is messy, dirty and the food is horrible!
Fast service, happy and helpful staff, mini buffet is great for those To Go days, the food is really good, but the 4 instead of 5⭐ is because the mens restroom have too many units out of order.

Did a seminar And the Room that we used was very nice, The staff was pleasant, The food was good. The only thing keeping this place from being a 5 star is that it had no WiFi. The name is the hotspot and even though Ive never seen a diner with an indoor soccer field attached to it which gives it the ultimate level of coolness. I just wish they had the WiFi.
