I had gone into this store with high hopes, and at first I was not disappointed. So much so actually, that I found a copy of a vinyl (worth $60),that I had also owned. This was a vinyl I had no longer needed, and when I saw that they bought vinyls, I didn’t hesitate to come back the next day, ready to sell it. Not only had I taken the vinyl I had seen the copy of, but I had also taken in a brand new, fully functional record player, and 4 other 4 sided vinyls. I understand that to make profit, they would have to buy them cheaper from me, than they would price them in the store, but when they gave me an offer, I was in shock. They offered me $21, of in store credit for my 6 items. I understand that they are a thrift store, so I kindly declined the offer, and went on my way. This experience had angered me, but that is not why I am writing this review. Later, when I had gone back through the vinyls, they were in terrible condition. Cases were bent, wrapping was opened, and the vinyls were misplaced in the sleeves. The fact that they didn’t even have the decency to properly put away the records amazes me. Very disappointed.

Great a little store lol I say little because that is how it feels when you are there but it is a large place. The staff is very helpful and seems to enjoy their jobs. If you like a good bookish store this is the place for you.

Went for the first time today with a bag of books to trade for some new ones. After getting my bin to check in, the clerk asked for my driver’s license (?), when I questioned this she said it was to make sure there was nothing illegal. Truly, just some romance novels! After using my information to fill out a hidden form, she then asked for my email address and cell phone number. Don’t worry she said, we don’t sell anything. Why does the act of trading in a dozen or two books, worth $18 in store credit or $10 in cash require enough personal information to open several credit cards, etc. ? Anyone else have this happen or know the reason why? Won’t return.

The atmosphere is always friendly and inviting. I love that they utilize reuse/recycle. Material is often in superb shape, yet very affordable. They always have cool items in stock.

Great place to just shop around. Rather like fishing. Calm atmosphere, rustic smell, plenty of wide open space, you cast your line out, and suddenly ZING! You land a big find!

Always find the perfect gift for someones interest! Plus, the bathrooms are really clean.

Far and away the worst place to buy records, used or new. Overpriced, unorganized and not in good condition. There is just no way youre gonna get a good deal here. Youre much better off just finding what youre looking for online.

I love this book store!!! So many great books at great prices! They have lots of comic related books and toys. My whole family loves this place. You can also bring books in to sell to them.

I called ahead and had an item placed on hold for me. Alyssa helped me on the phone and when I got into the store, Arden was super helpful at the register. He also told me about their promotions to make sure I was getting all the discounts possible. I love the store and love the staff!

Excellent, very helpful customer service. Even though we didnt find what we were looking for, at least 2 different reps worked to help us. I enjoy going to 2nd & Charles at home, and it was a pleasant experience even away from home.

Cool place! I found the coolest antique pop-up book I have ever seen; the best part - I could afford it!!!! Cant wait to go back and see the rest of the store. I was there about 90 minutes and only got through the first two isles! Love this place!

Lots of choices. Make sure if there is a duplicate book you want, you check the prices on each one. Used is much cheaper than new. Very friendly staff. They have a lot of manga, comics, children and teen books, tons of fiction. Only had a few minutes to wander around, but I definitely enjoyed the book prices.

I loved this place but my wife didn’t care for it.

Choices were lacking of graphic novels, science fiction/fantasy, comic books, video games, movies & music. What used items I did find appealing were not priced very well for the conditions they were in or compared to their competitors.

Wow! So suppressed never been here before but they had all kinds of unique gifts fro. Dungeons and dragons to crystals and records and books! Very neat place if you are looking for something different. Also the coupons they send and sales were great!

I love used book stores. They always have so much to offer and random odd and ends gifts, gag gifts, classy gifts, they have games, toys, comics, dvds, free books, clearance..... the staff is friendly and try to help as much as they can. I buy hardback books and thats pretty much all theyll buy back.... but they generally only take a fraction and not much of a pay out...My only complaint is during summer reading they put books out but I never see any of the books on the Newport News high school list. I dont know where they are getting there lists from. I always have to find the ones I need in the aisles and it takes forever....Also, sometimes the place is messy or cluttered.... no biggie, but when authors are in two areas for the same book.... that gets confusing.

Maybe the cashier was having a bad day but he wasnt friendly and when I asked to use a coupon, he told it was too late and I should have told him before he rang up my items. Big store, well stocked, seemed to have at least 1 employee per section, lots of parking spaces, and the line did move rather quickly.

This place is massive. Like, bigger than Barnes & Noble and with a bigger selection to boot. Its like a used book superstore. Tons of books, both popular and obscure, classics, movies, TV series, games, anime, comics, childrens books and toys, collectibles, fandom stuff, and of course new books and releases, and rare books. You can find almost anything in here for a great price. I found a book that normally retailed for $29 for around $8 in good condition.Listen to the loudspeaker for an occasional number to text for a coupon. You can also trade in books/games/movies/comics for additional discounts or cash! One of my favorite places to shop and Im from NC! Only downside is that theyre far and few in between. The other nearest locations are in Richmond, Jacksonville, NC and Fayetteville, NC.

I love, love, love this store. I’ve slowly been bringing in books that I’ve had lying around for ages. I get credit to buy “new-to-me” books, which are generally other people’s old books. They have a great selection of new items, as well as DVD’s, video games, vinyl records, gifts, and novelty items. I’ve spent hours in this store browsing the shelves. They’re sure to have something that would interest you!

This store is awesome..hands down! You can spend hours there with so much offered..new & used books, used cds & dvds in great condition, souvenirs, toys, etc. Great staff!!! Whoever invented this type of store, was a genius!

Can easily spend a few hours in here each visit. Some of their selection is light in some categories, but they do have to cater to what is selling at their location. Much of their stuff is used or remainders from other book store closings and closeouts. Fun place to browse though.

Great collection of books, games, toys, vinyls, music, video games and novelties. You can easily spend 2hours just looking around. Its like an amusement park for your minds enter child and eye candy for the adult hidden inside.

It was an OK experience. I didnt find a lot but my boyfriend got a few movies.I didnt like that they dont have bags so you can carry your items out.

I bought a rare Bruce Springsteen Vinyl sealed for a friends birthday present. He is the original super fan.. Well, when he opened it, the vinyl was from a much cheaper album. I brought it to the managers attention and she said there was nothing they could do about it. Super lame, since I paid $45.00 for it. Know that if you are buying a sealed vinyl you are gambling with your money. Also, they dont state that fact anywhere in the store. To say the least, Im super disappointed.

Niche book, comic, game and music store. There are so many amazing treasures you can find here. Their buying program is also great. Ive unloaded so many of my collection here and gotten good offers in return. Usually the only things they dont take are items they have too much of, or damaged goods. As long as you have some nicely cared for items, you will probably get a good offer for it. You get more in store credit than cash, which makes sense and depending on whether you want to just unload stuff or want a media refresh, its nice to have the options.Theres even a free bin outside where Ive managed to score some great things.

Besides the free bin the store is overpriced especially for second hand Goods there are other stores Id much rather go to like GameStop and other things and Shop off the clearance rack where I can get better prices the store was really the only reason I used to go to Newport News and now Ive grown out of this place I used to go for the free bin about the only good thing I ever found there was a ton of Tom Clancy novels dont get me wrong this store has a good selection of free stuff from time to time but if youre going to shop here avoid it altogether the shopping experience is overpriced and they lowball you on anything that you try and sell them they never want to offer you a fair price at least I dont think so and they never take books they remind me of the service I received at Platos Closet half the reason I never go there anymore

Ive been here at least a dozen times. Awesome place to browse, sell your used games, movies, and books, or just hang out. Staff is always polite and very helpful. I sell most of my used games and movies here. Fair pricing. They sell new and used console games. My favorite buy so far has been an Xbox One controller. Bought it used here and it looks and works like new. Way better pricing on gear than the specialty game stores. They dont take in junk so you know youre buying quality used gear. They have everything from games, movies, kids book, toys, musical instruments, and the best of all...decor to tickle your inner geek! Hands down love this place.

The store is nice and has some cool stuff, but I received an insultingly low offer when trying to trade in some books. I brought in over 50 large hardback graphic novels, ( going for over $600 on eBay), and received an offer of $50. $1 a book, come on, I wasnt expecting to get eBay prices, hell I would of accepted half of that, but to waste my time with such a low offer, I was highly disappointed.

My new favorite place to browse in my city ever since movie stop tragic death. Giving you a three stars because you magically caught up with the rest of the world as far as your prices. We first enjoyed you because you sold collectible items,and books,movies,Games, music,everything. But your pricing gradually Grew the more popular you became. For a city that lives paycheck to paycheck on an average, budgeting is Everything. So for now you are still our getaway place, but you are walking the line on becoming a Museum of the sorts for just sightseeing. no purchasing allowed.
