The gal behind the counter was so fun to interact with! She suggested we try her favorite fudge, tiger stripe, and gave us a sample. It was delicious! She even gave us a great recommendation on a local lunch spot.

I buy salt water taffy from this store anytime I come to Newport. However the last batch I bought was very disappointing! The cotton Candy and banana flavors were ok, they had the taffy texture and alright flavor. All the other flavors I bought were very bland and the texture of the taffy was grainy! So upsetting as I’ve always come here because I loved their taffy. The creaminess is gone, the texture is awful, and the flavors are that great either. I don’t know what changed but I won’t be buying from here again.

Stopped by here on Friday- The employees were so sweet and friendly. The selection of taffy was impressive and each piece tasted exactly as we’d expect from the flavors we picked out. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

I’ve been coming here since I was a child, and it always brings back beautiful nostalgia. The smell of the fresh caramel corn wafts the sidewalk, the taffy is made right there in store, and they also carry novelty candies that can be hard to find. This is a homemade candy store on the bay front, prices are moderate given the fact of its location and authenticity. The ATM fee is only $1.25, not $3.00+.They do require cash only, which is just fine. When I’m on vacation, I do carry a little cash because they’re are always little places that do require cash (and a well seasoned traveler knows to carry some cash with them anyways.) I live in California now, and always stop in when I’m visiting for a delicious lunch at Gino’s and amazing taffy, fudge, and peanut caramel corn at Newport Candy Shoppe. Keep up the amazing work! Service was exceptional. The gal working was very friendly & helpful when asking about all the chocolates.We only purchased chocolates & so far everything is delicious.The downside is the price. It does seem quite steep. The second thing is overfilling the salt water taffy candy that you see some on the floor (that and am sure people moving candy around).

The selection of saltwater taffy flavors was impressive and the staff were helpful and friendly. I was all set to give them 5 stars. But the taffy itself was quite disappointing. It lacked flavor and was grainy. Ive had better tasting saltwater taffy from the grocery store. Much better. Im sad theirs wasnt better.

Pretty typical candy shop. Clean and friendly staff. Can get crowded quickly. Also, the taffy lacks flavor in my opinion.

The shop is quaint. It reminds me of a traditional old school candy shop. The popcorn is delicious. But, the Taffy is hard as a rock.

They are amazing and totally worth going all the way to Newport for. They are lovely people and have sugar free speciality chocolate!!! My husband is always so excited!

What a great place! Im not a big saltwater taffy fan but the flavors here were fantastic. Especially the marionberry taffy. One particular staff number was so energetic and engaging with customers which is always a pleasure to see.I also got the marionberry chocolate sticks which were fantastic. I got the smore chocolate covered thingy which was not all that great. The toffee was very good.Definitely will visit again when in the area.

Sent wife to go get some goodies while she was in Newport. They dont take debit cards. First time in 20 years Ive had a place not take debit. I dont like carrying cash at all so I debit everything even if I have to pay the service charge.

We love this candy store. We always stop in whenever we are in Portland. I love their haystacks and salted caramels, my wife and daughter love the turtles and my son loves picking from the bulk candy jars. Something for everyone.

I’ve been to this store several times over the last 30 years and each time I buy taffy I’m disappointed. They don’t use enough flavoring so every “flavor” tastes like non-flavored taffy. The shop down the street is the place to go.

Need taffy or fudge? They have every flavor taffy. Unfortunately we went in off season so much of the stock seemed old, hard.. not well rotated. They dont take xards, but there is an ATM in the back if you need more cash. My recommendation is to partner with larger company and ship out in bulk to keep stock fresh. Got the peanut butter walnut fudge ...wasnt very creamy and was really let down.

Cash only policy is absurd! Instead of figuring 2% credit card fees into your cost margins. The customer gets to use your atm and pay over $3 in fees. As for 6 foot distancing. Your employees have to touch every customer as we pass dirty bills back and forth.

This place was amazing! They make most of their candy right there in the shop. The owners are engaging and sweet. The candy is handmade and top notch. I sorely wish we had something like this back home.

This is the best candy shop. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to help you. Everything we got was amazing. I highly recommend this shop. You won’t be disappointed.

This candy shop was super amazing, exactly what I was hoping for when I search for candy shop on the coast. My nine-year-old daughter was literally as happy as a kid in the candy shop. Their saltwater Taffy was amazing, they had so many bins with so many flavors and you were welcome to sample any of it. They also offered samples of ice cream flavors but my daughter already knew what she wanted. We get back to the car with our ice cream and Taffy and my husband looked at my daughters ice cream and goes into the store and gets one of his own. He had Cherry in a waffle cone and it was so amazing and creamy. As we were driving to leave our little one woke up and saw her sisters ice cream so we drove back to Newport candy shop to get the little one an ice cream as well. I just want to point out that its that good to drive back as opposed to get one on the way home the whole inviting ice cream shop candy shop experience.

When on vacation you carry a credit card, here they want straight cash. More would shop for their great candies if they offered cards. Ive left many times disappointed.

A small candy and popcorn store with fantastic caramel corn. A little pricey for what you get, but it was great and still tasted fresh a few days later! I even brought the rest back with me to CA.They let you try free samples of the taffy too (just pick up any flavor and try), but it wasnt anything special.If youre in the area and maybe waiting for a table at Mos, this is a good place to stop in to ruin your appetite. If my family didnt stop me, I would have eaten the entire box before we made it back to Portland.

I always stop by to pick up some Rum Truffles for a friend when I visit her. She thinks theyre the best! (Always buy a few for myself as well). Also an incredible selection of taffy. Only drawback is no cards accepted (the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars).

Afternoon visit found most of the chocolate case sold out. Plenty of wrapped candies were available. Frendly staff. Have been here in the past, and product offered was good. It is a good place to stop by, just better before mid afternoon on a weekend day.
