Amarin offers a light, bright style of Thai cooking, quite different from the creamy sauces at most area Thai restaurants. This style calls for very fresh protein, vegetables and herbs, as the sauce cannot cover up ingredients that are less than perfect. The curries are fresh, with a clean, light sauce. Each dish is prepared fresh and arrived hot from the wok.The dining room is slightly below street level, nicely presented. The table is well presented, and the room is decorated with interesting Thai artworks.Service is excellent. Our server paid just the right amount of attention and was a pleasant and charming person. The restaurant is on a busy corner but there is lots of parking at the building.
We tried Thai Amarin on a week night and really enjoyed ourselves. It was not too busy but not deserted either. The ambience was lively and the staff was friendly and patient too.A special mention for the person who took our order(I wish I had caught his name): we were a group of 7 and we ordered multiple appetizers, main course dishes and beverages with quite a few specifications. He managed to take our order without writing it down and got it right, including all the specifications! We were skeptical about our orders, but were pleasantly surprised. Thanks for that!About the food: Firstly, considering we werent the only group in the restaurant, the food came out pretty fast. The portions size were good and the ingredients were fresh! We loved the taste overall. The only thing we felt was that mushrooms werent cooked enough in our entrées. But otherwise, cant think of anything negative about the experience. Will definitely recommend and visit again!
Very consistent over the years, I have been going here since 1990 and its always very good. They take special orders and the staff is already very nice. I like the drunken noodles, it is a little spicy and they go a slightly heavy on the oils, but all their dishes are well done. All their dishes have great flavors and I come here at least 2 times a month!
The atmosphere is nice and the place is spacious. But me and my friends tried Pad Thai, different flavors, and in all of them the peanut sauce was WAY TOO SWEET
This is amazing Thai food! Everything from presentation to taste to the ambiance and service of the restaurant is great. Would recommend this place.
So delicious! The Pad Thai was exceptional. Wonderful food.
Passed this place many times. Very good food!
Amarin is one of the best Thai places around if you ever get the chance youll be doing yourself a favor to go there.
I really miss be Old owner. The food was yummy and the service here is always really good. But he always made going there feel like a family reunion and we really miss it.
Excellent service. I had vegetable pad Thai. It was really flavorful without being extra greasy. The person attending us was very patient and kind. Nice place for yummy Thai food!!!
Not the best in flavor - kind of mediocre.
I always come grabbing some food in this place. I liked the swift service and well prepared food. Kudos.
I’ve given this place so many chances to not disappoint me. Not only have their flavors gone down the drain over the past months but their delivery is awful. I live 2 miles away and again they took close to 2 hours to deliver. They ask for an hour on average so when I called after an hour they gave me the excuse of having only one driver. That’s not my problem, especially when you charge a delivery fee. By the time the food arrived the shumai had hardened, chicken wings were soggy, Saigon dices were cold and had way too much cracked pepper, chicken dumplings were cold and barely any chicken, and the rest of our order (seafood salad, grilled shrimp salad, shrimp rolls) left much to be desired.
Thai Amarin quality is like none other! I thought Id had good Thai food but coming here was like tasting my favorite dishes for the first time. my favorite place to get Thai around Boston!
The food in this restaurant is very good and the person who served our table was very polite and kind. Unfortunately the behavior of the manager was very disturbing. About six minutes before the closing time he came to our table unexpectedly and said We are closing in five minutes, with an angry tone as he quickly collected the menus and everything else from the table. I realize that we were the last group of people in the restaurant but we all found his behavior very unfriendly and offensive. His unfriendly gesture ruined a nice evening for all of us. I hope he shows a more respectful and friendly attitude toward the guests in the future. Respect and good hospitality are as important the quality of the food in a good restaurant!
The last time I ordered sushi it was a good amount in each roll and they were packaged separately. This time it was two rolls 4 pieces each shoved into one container. Definitely not what I received last time. Last time I also got edamame which was inedible. I dont know if it was over cooked or what but there was this slimy skin that was underneath the pod, then the bean. I have had edamame many times, it was never like that. The good is usually good here but this time I felt ripped off.
Was ok. Did pick up
Drunken noodles were pretty good
Delicious food and comfy environment.
The service was great and the food was good. Im not an expert in Thai cuisine but I have had pad Thai that has been better. I really enjoyed the basil chicken and the appetizers. The restaurant is way to park at and you should park in the metered lot behind the restaurant.Service was quick and they brought special utensils for the youngest children. Overall excellent and I highly recommend.
Amazing Thai food! Love to go there for that Kao Soi Gai and Kui Gai. Their drunken noodles are one of a kind as well!
This beautifully decorated Thai restaurant has been here for a long time, and the quality of the food is absolutely first rate. All the traditional favorites plus some very interesting and innovative dishes. Plenty of good choices even if like my family you dont like spicy food. Surprisingly inexpensive. If you want to eat healthy they have salads and brown rice options. Impress your friends, family, or your date by your good taste by coming here. Service is prompt and perfect as well.
I forgot to take pics of the appetizers (crunchy rolls and Beef Saigon), but I did get a photo of my shrimp pad thai. Their sauce is a little sweet for my liking, bit it was good. They were a little skimpy on the shrimp in my opinion. I think there were 5-6 shrimp in total, so dont expect much protein. The food was really good, and there was parking available which is a huge thing around here. Kust dont arrive around rush hour or you will almost die in traffic.
The best thai food in the Boston area. Other places dont hold up the food and environment. The service is unmatched and extremely service for pick up. I highly highly recommend going here.
We ordered delivery to our hotel. Soup and curries were excellent but no rice was included. I’ve never had Thai curry that did not come with rice. Must rice be ordered separately?
I have only ordered takeout from Thai Amarin but my experience has been nothing short of exceptional. I usually order the Chicken Gaprow and have never been served a bad dish. The staff are incredibly friendly and kind and have thrown in extra sweets here and there for my continued patronage. Cant recommend Thai Amarin enough, their quality of character and cuisine is what everyone should hope to find in a neighborhood restaurant.
Had this for takeout yesterday and the food was so good !The indoor dining also looks to have a lovely ambiance for when theyre open for dining in .
I live their foods and the environment was good
Food is ok, service is terrible. Waited 20 minutes past my pickup time for my food that was over done and over priced.
Good Thai food. I have not personally found better in Watertown, but it may be out there. Enjoyed the golden bags, and Pad Thai. My wife got the black pepper chicken with mango curry. It was great.
One of my favorite places to grab something to eat. fantastic location, always clean, and awesome customer service. Highly recommended!
The place is hard to see because the name on the window is at the bottom and in white lettering. Also its just Amarin. The food was tasty, came out of The kitchen quickly and wasnt very hot. The waitress could have been more pleasant, there was one other table besides us when we arrived so youd think shed be happy for the business. Also this is just beer and wine. There are some photos here that are misleading, they do not have cocktails as shown.
I am very pleased with the service quick and convenient, people are welcome ❤️
Not like it used to be,going to look for a new place
This has got to be the best restaurant for Thai food in the whole state, a tie to Bangkok Kitchen in the Cape which wins the seafood madness dish comparison. Amarins version needs more generous ingredients. Everything else is good
I love this place! The food is delicious and of excellent quality. You cant go wrong with any of the curries. Also, spicy actually means spicy! One of the only places I go to where the spiciest level is too much for me. The crab rangoons actually taste like crab and the Golden Bags are another of my favorite appetizers. Great spot for a date night but also awesome for a work lunch pick-up!
Very tasty food. Reasonable price. Good service. There is a parking garage for off street parking and they validate for up to 2 hours
Service and quality of food is amazing. Love the creative dishes. Will definitely come here many more times!
First time here for lunch. Delicious food, great quantity. Staff is nice, restaurant has a clean and nice atmosphere. Validated parking in garage. Good value for the cost. Will definitely be coming back!
Thai Amarin has some of the best Thai food this far outta Boston. Their crab Rangoon too, although not Thai, I love Asian restaurants that are not Chinese who have them. Their food didnt disappoint.
Good Thai food but I have had better Thai food
The best Thai I have ever had! Great selection, there are tables where you can sit on pillows on the ground in a more traditional style. I recommend the satay chicken skewers and the green curry! Great family place. Free parking is a plus behind the building!
Very nice people. Very good food. Pleasant experience. I highly reccomend this restaurant. Its location is disastrous to look at but once inside, youre home
Absolutely. Hands down. The best Thai restaurant in the Boston area. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the basil fried rice, been in oyster sauce and. Each dish had a great flavor the complemented each other nicely. We will definitely make this out new Thai place.
I had a Pad Thai and I found that it was too sour and not what I was expecting. I havent tried other foods there. The place is beautiful and well kept.
Excellent Thai cuisine with a nice decor. The best chicken fried rice I’ve had in a long time. We also ordered the ginger chicken and the jade zucchini noodles: awesome. We had a couple of their soups and those were also pretty tasty. Very reasonably priced as well and the serving sizes are enough to feed a big man. Highly recommended! I’m going back soon for more of that chicken fried rice.
One of my favorite places to take out. Love the curry and the veggie spring rolls are on point.
This spot always delivers. They have fantastic dishes for reasonable rates, there is no waiting time even when the spot is packed.
I and my son visited our preferred restaurant for celebration or solace. I was struck instantly by the unattractive new decor, but this awoke no fear. We ordered our favorites beef red curry and chicken yellow curry neither tasted or smelled right; my son was unable to eat his chicken yellow curry due to the unpleasant smell. we told the waiter the chicken curry would not be eaten and were allowed to order another dish: Pad Thai noodles, ever a favorite. my son actually liked and ate it all. I on the other hand smelled the same repellent odor and taste and couldnt finish my share. we are both upset. weve loved and eaten at the Amarin for years, never disappointed or repelled, finishing every scrap and happily sharing the delicious food. We cant remember one bad experience they could be having a bad day. what happened to the real Amarin? The service was OK, but todays menu was deplorable.
Very good Pad Thai, one of the better Thai restaurants in Boston.
The food is really good and perfect for the price. The actual restaurant itself looks very classy and original and the staff are some of the nicest people ever! We did notice thought that if you buy more than about $25 of food they add an automatic tip to your bill. Overall preety good restaurant for a date or birthday
This is an excellent Thai-cuisine restaurant in Newton Corner. Closed for a while for remodeling, it is even better than in the past. Superbly prepared dishes and friendly, efficient service in very attractive room make for an very enjoyable dining experience.
Great food! Thai Carry with Sticky rice is highly indulgent. But have a very bad reception once we went for some pick up. The guy dint seem very welcoming
We just ordered takeout from here for the second time or so. The food is delicious, and the service is out of this world! We had a note on a rice container in our takeout that said “meals don’t come with rice” - we hadn’t read the menu and didn’t order rice, so they included a little bit for us. Very thoughtful. We’ll be back!
I love Thai food and this place really satisfies my palate. Nice interior and pleasant staff. Street parking available and there is a municipal parking lot just behind the restaurant.
I love the food. Great Staff and Wonderful service!10/10 Would Recommend
Good food, reasonable prices, comfortable setting.
Thai Amarin makes the best pad Thai weve ever had in the Boston area - and its best enjoyed on the premises (vs. take-out). Other favorite dishes include the pineapple chicken, the medallions of pork, and the homestyle duck. We could never skip the glass noodle soup or the hot soup! Oh, and they have Singha beer! Overall, a highly recommended restaurant for the delicious food and great service.
Good food all day and night
Bad service
Love it
Ordered takeout from here and it was DELICIOUS! The chicken in the pad thai was actually juicy and not overcooked liked most other Thai places around.
Revising my review as the past 4 or 5 (takeout) ordered have been of poor quality.Original review:Pad Thai, pad kee mao, and pad see ew are all great. Favorite shumai and golden baskets around.I also like that they accommodate adding spiciness to non-spicy dishes.
Probably one of the most consistent restaurants I have ever been to. Because theyre in walking distance to the office, they have become one of my go-tos for lunch over the years. I probably rotate my dishes every time and they are all fantastic. Its nice to try different things and be satisfied with each new choice. The prices for lunch are really reasonable for the area which makes it all the better.
This is our favorite Thai restaurant in the area. The staff are very friendly, and always recognize our name and preferences. The new owner changed the menu slightly, for the better in our opinion.
Food and service was great. Was a perfect place to go for lunch. In and out and in am hour flat.
Had a light meal of soup, salad and appetizers. Chicken satay, tod mun, and fresh rolls were top notch. Larb salad was also very good. Relaxing atmosphere.
Good thai food. Ask for vegetarian options (if relevant) and emphasize that or may still get veg food cooked in fish oil etc.
Vast range of food all extremely delicious
Thai foods cooked to American audiences. Everything sweet! Either chef has no clues of authentic Thai cooking or on purpose.
Fantastic Thai food
Delicious food, expertly prepared. Beautiful decor. Great service.
My favorite Thai food in the area :)
Best crab rangoon Ive ever had, also recommend the mango and sticky rixe for dessert!
Ordered a shrimp pad Thai spicy. And got a sweetish dish with no veggies at all and ordered tamarind tofu everything was sweet only sweet not that great with food just the ambience is good
One of the best Thai restaurants Ive been to.The atmosphere is very nice and the food delicious. While they have many of the staples youd find in most Thai restanrants, everything I have had there is a much better version than what youd tyically find.On each of my visits, service has been excellent - very friendly and helpful.
HORRIBLE SERVICE! On Memorial Day we came with the family to Thai Amarin to celebrate 15th anniversary since we moved to the States. When we got in, first, we waited to be seated for a while. Second, the service was slow and the waiter was rude (tbh, the place had only 2 waitresses and it was busy, so we didnt mind much at this point). What really surprised us was the attitude with which our waiter told us what is this here, 15 dollars? In this country the tips are usually 15 to 18 percent of the order. Our order was for 110 dollars, and we left 15, because the service was bad. Ive never had such experience here ever in my life, so Im a little shocked. I worked as a waiter myself and I know how some people can tip, but I would never behave like that. Food is okay, not better, not worse than any thai place in the neighborhood.
Seems like new management. New menu, but still delish. Maybe even better.
Chicken Satay were not done right, but the Chicken Pad Thai was excellent.Prices were reasonable.
I love this restaurant and have been going to it since i was a toddler. This restaurant is most likely my favorite and I go there all the time. I reccomend the spring rolls :).
Excellent food and good prices. The ambience is nice.
Great Thai food and nice ambience. Very friendly service.
Good food and ambiance fast service on a Saturday night..
Great food
I love Amarin. I have been a repeat customer for over a decade now. Delicious food, delightful people.
Pretty good.. service was lacking but food was amazing!
Excellent food and service!
We rolled in late, but they were cheerful and kind. The food was very good.
Best Thai food around. Excellent and consistent.
Great food. Portions are big.
Like the sister restaurant in Wellesley, wonderful creative spicy and non spicy Thai dishes, good prices, excellent service - and they deliver! Whats not to like?
One of the better Thai restaurants in the area, but they could spice up their menu a little.
