I went to the store when I was in Denver last year and its a great store. Found some figures I wanted granted. A tad more then I wanted to spend. But it helps a local. Store and in ok with that. Plus the owner was very nice and knowledgable great store over all. Cant wait to visit again
Had fun learning how to play a bunch of different games. My littles enjoyed themselves even though its not geared toward them. My husband loves the store side as hes definitely obsessed with anime. Glad we found this place on a quiet day as we were able to explore the store and actually take it all in before coming in and playing.
Used to work here and it was a really great experience. I feel like many customers are frustrated by the prices, and I want to clear up why the prices are so expensive compared to online. We go directly to Japan to hand pick items, ship them back, and resell them. When youre paying for a figure from Boss Stage, youre paying for the guarantee of authenticity, expensive shipping, travel, and labor we put into bringing figures directly to the United States.Of course a figure online is going to be cheaper. Theres a chance its fake, and if it is real, all the seller had to do was buy it and ship it off. Running an import store is expensive.
AMAZING PLACE!!! hoenstly if you guys somehow got a Love Live School idol Rythm game Id be there EVERYDAY!! My friend and I had a BLAST staff is amazing and fun! The arcade is amazing honestly we will MOST DEFINITELY be back again!!! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because my figure was sold for 60$ when I googled it I could of bought it off eBay for 30-35$ if you read this *owner* please consider lowering your prices drastically on figures. Youd make a great profit on figures within reasonable prices. For example your mikasa figure is priced at 400$ while it can sell on eBay for literally 64$. Its really a sad set back I love this store just dont like prices for figures also the employee working there was cute af lol that was good lol
I play jubeat almost strictly, with some nostalgia when my hands hurt. Assuming it’s 50 cents to play 3 songs which is the norm, I think it should take about 3-5 hours to play $15 worth of jubeat. My hands and arms get too sore after about 2 hours, but it feels nice to not have to carry coins.Get better soon Kyle!
This place introduced me to one of my all time favorite video games of all time. The obscure Japanese games were the biggest selling point. I think $15 is a steal if theres no limit on how many times I play a game. The staff were super nice and helpful. I cannot find another arcade like this.
Awesome little arcade with nice staff, fun games, and cool merchandise! You only need to pay $15 for unlimited play! Definitely worth the price.
This place was so much fun! Great variety of games and a good price for all you can play. The figures did seem overpriced but the arcade portion was definently the main feature. Ill definetly go again!
Came here the other day and was pretty excited to check this place out and support a local business, but quickly became highly disappointed with how outrageously expensive the figures and collectibles were, even the ones on “sale”.As a pretty avid collector I’m very aware of up to date prices, but after double checking online, I found almost everything I saw was marked up around double the current market price, even on figures that have just been released and have a current set retail price. I was very bummed out as I would love to support a store like this since I spend a lot of money on anime collectibles, but I can’t justify spending that kind of money when I could easily order online for half the price. However on top of that it left me feeling like the business owners were trying to take advantage of me as a consumer, hoping I wouldn’t know any better since they’re the only place like this in town and spend way more than I should on something worth half the price. Some items I had even seen earlier that day at other stores in Denver for half the price, and looking at other reviews its clear I’m not the only one who noticed the absurd markups.Arcade and the drink bar seemed okay, but it was too late for me to check them out and after seeing the ridiculous figure prices I wasn’t interested in staying or returning anyway. Guy who greeted me was nice enough, but so is everyone who wants you to spend money at their business.
What a gem of a location. An arcade with games hard to find in the United States, figurines for the collectors, and a wonderful place to hang out with friends and acquaintances alike.A place like this doesnt come across often. The owner cares about the community and fostering an enjoyable environment for folks who have similar interests. $15 is all you need to sink your heart into a plethora of arcade games as its all free-to-play. Invite your friends and come hang out! Lock-ins are held on the last Saturday of each month when folks really come out for a gathering.
This place is a blast. Pay some money and go to town for as long as you want. Theres an emphasis on rhythm games like DDR, but theres still a fantastic variety of games to choose from. I love this place thats trying to keep the arcade scene alive. Cant recommend this place enough
Probably the best place in Central US to play Japanese arcade games.
This was a fun stop for my husband and I. Most of the games are in Japanese, so part of the fun is trying to figure out how to play them.
Theres a lot of pretty neat figurines and collectables, I just cant bring myself to pay $100-$200 for things I can get for $25-$50 anywhere else.
One word: wow. Filled top to bottom with Manga, figures, games, and arcade cabinets, this is every enthusiasts dream. Whether youre looking for your next page turner you cant put down, your new figure to add to or start your collection, or simply playing an unlimited amount of the coolest arcade cabinets from both the west and direct from Japan, this place has what you want and what you didnt realize you needed.
My husband and I went here earlier today. The environment seemed chill and nice. We didn’t get a chance to try the arcade but, it looked fun. My 2/5 star review is for one reason only: their anime merchandise is VERY overpriced. All of their figures/DVDs/manga have a 100 to 200% mark up! My husband works at another locally owned video game/nerdy merchandise store, so we understand how pricing and retail for this kind of thing works.Even just doing a quick Google shopping search will show you that the asking price here is ridiculously high. I understand that profits need to be made; however this kind of mark up is absurd. My suggestion to the owner would be to please make your prices more reasonable.
I went here with my dads friend and it was amazing. I loved all the anime figures and they had so many cool games. The people there were nice. Highly recommended.
Boss Stage is a unique place. The have a great selection of manga and anime as well as tons of toys and figurines. They also have these mystery gift bags you can buy too. The other side of this place is an arcade with a bunch of Japanese games. Lots of rhythm and music games, like ddr and there was a really cool drumming one too. The best part is you pay a flat fee to play as much as you want. I had so much fun Im coming back with more friends.
This is the best arcade in Colorado! We booked the arcade for a private party, my friends and I had a blast. There was something fun for ALL my guests. Memories I won’t forget. ;) Thank you!
I loved the arcade portion but the anime figures and collection is so ridiculously overpriced. I go to enough cons and amiami to know theyre charging 100+over what a figure is actually worth.
This was a fun stop for my husband and I. Most of the games are in Japanese, so part of the fun is trying to figure out how to play them.
Store was packing for a convention when we went in. Half of the store was blocked from viewing as well as the arcade. More items were packed away like wall scrolls. Would have been more efficient for customers if the packing was during after hours of the store. Would recommend doing research before visiting, otherwise your visit will be very disappointing.
Im just here to dance, and dance I did.
Went in was instantly bombarded with multiple questions none very pleasant just basically telling us what we should and should not go in there for. Felt constantly watched just trying to visit and see what the store/arcade was about. Store has a cool figure collection and setup with the arcade next to it, woulda been nice to browse to see if spending the $15 to play would be worth it. Dont plan to go to again.
BRING. HEADPHONES. Seriously, it’s LOUD, but most of these Japanese cabinet arcade games have a headphone jack you can plug into, and then get the volume level you want. Otherwise, bring some ear buds. You’ll go deaf without them.Games: pretty cool! Not many arcades anywhere carrying these. Cost: $15... felt just a little too high for how small the arcade is.Overall: worth it. I’ll still be back.
Wonderful game selection in great condition. The regulars are really welcoming. Just be aware that its a Japanese rhythm game focused collection with a few other things. Parapara Paradise and Popn Music are really fun
Super chill environment, fun arcade, and has a lot of items you find outside of Japan.
I would say about half the games worked complete, several had either picture and or audio problems.alot of 2 player games there unfortunately the cords like disconnecting and prevent the 2 player fun........its a great idea on paper but failed to give full enjoyment, had the games worked would be an awesome place. Side note if owner reads if you are telling me about a deal that was yesterday what am I to do with this information were you offering it or what? Also if there are customers in store maybe you should pause the movie youre watching and be more helpful to the customers, basic customer service goes along way in order to maintain a return customer
Took some time to check out the place today seeing as they had just moved into a new space. Despite the bigger shop, I still left disappointed. Originally was going there intent on buying gunpla (saw a picture on their Facebook page). The asking prices for such a slim selection was ridiculous. Sure they were still moving in but, I wish they had signs stating they only sell their manga in sets. I was hoping to pick up a couple of volumes of a certain title yet, was told they wont sell individual books. I promptly left and will just spend my money elsewhere. Sure I might pay more but, Ill feel better knowing they didnt get my hard earned cash. Overall youre better shopping else where for anime and manga related goods.
The selection of games is very limited, its almost all rhythm games. Ive also had pretty rough experiences with some of the regulars. The 15$ price to play is a little rough but Im not bothered by it. They have a great selection of anime merchandise so its worth stopping by just for that.
I go here 1-2 a week. It is the most amazing arcade I have ever been to, lots of beautiful games from all sorts of eras and countries. The owner is the nicest guy, and the prices and hours are perfect!
Super cool arcade and hang-out spot! Friendly staff, great selection of games - many of which are rare or hard to find - in good working condition (Windjammers!). Everythings very reasonably priced, too. Cant recommend the place enough.
Absolutely love this place, staff is friendly and theres always cool stuff for sale. Plus its the only place near here that has upkept pump it up machines, if youre a fan of rythm games this is the arcade for you.
For anyone looking to buy anything like manga, anime, or figures, I would recommend them to check this place out! The staff is friendly, and treats you like family. The selection of figures is very extensive and great for collectors. They also have grab bags for varying prices. My only wish would be that they were themed because I assumed they would be based on the drawings in the bags. The items received however, were still worth it.
I have been going here since it opened. The prices are fair and the staff is friendly. Its the only Japanese arcade that I know of, and I love it.
Worst arcade in the Denver area. I felt very uncomfortable here, the owner seemed way too friendly and just creepy. I cant see why this place has high reviews, must be this creep shows friends. Being a young woman I would avoid this place like a plague, and anyone should as well, not worth it. Save your money. Also description says there is a cafe serving light meals, there is none. Unless you call a candy bar and soda a light meal.Follow up response to owner. Happened a few weeks ago, I just didnt get around to replying until I saw the gaming room at your work convention as you call it... Anime convention as I call it.
Super fun. Less than $20 to play in the arcade for as many hours as you want.
Hadnt noticed this arcade until I happened to stop in its shopping center for something else, so I thought I might walk in just to check it out. Was told that I couldnt do so without paying a fifteen dollar fee for admission--quite elitist and obnoxious if you ask me. Needless to say, I didnt want to pay just to see if I might want to come back another time. This place is going to need some VERY dedicated neckbeards to keep it afloat if they keep up their restrictive attitude to exclude potential new customers.
Paid $15 to play at most 5 games three people including my nice $45. This is not kid friendly and half the adults did not move from the games they just kept playing. Worst idea ever.
Their Japanese arcade games are quality and hard to find elsewhere, but the size of the arcade is a bit limited for the high cover charge entry fee. It also gets swelteringly hot in there - be ready to sweat! (Whether or not youre playing the dancing rhythm games)
I have been going here for 6 years and there is nothing like it. The best games, well kept, managed by a very cool owner.
Me and Kyle are great freinds I still remember the first time I walked into the store he was very helpful and awesome Ive gotten to know everyone at the store and even got great deals its just all around amazing
Went in to check what they had. The collection was huge! My first time there the store wasnt as organized or as tidy but my second time there the store was looking better and the staff mentioned that they were going to make the place even better. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable about video games and anime. If youre a nerd and want to nerd out, this is a place you could stop in and never leave. Great place, great staff, great atmosphere!
The sign on the door says something different than the real hours.Kyle, please post the new hours on the door. I went to go get something and nobody was at the store.Kyle is extremely nice is very helpful. Monday was confusing because I looked at the website too.The Winter Showdown 3 tournament was a blast! Extremely awesome and some -hart to find anime figures. Happy to give him my business. I have been there 4 times now. :)
I will always come by and buy all your shots. All of it. Must collect.Very friendly workers, great selection of anime, manga, figures and even dakimakura covers. Love this place.
My daughter and I were curious of the Japanese arcade, so we came inside to take a look. I asked if we could take a walk through the arcade to see if wed want to pay to play, and was told we could look from outside through the windows. Im not joking, thats what the incredibly rude guy working said. Only 2 people seemed to be inside the arcade at the time, so it wasnt so busy my request was unreasonable. I decided to take my business elsewhere.
Always a good time. Low key, chill place and a good selection of anime goods. One price, free play is fantastic and there are lots of new rhythm games from Japan
This place is top notch, they have an excellent selection of cabinets. Great fighting games, as well as excellent rhythm games. They even have older multi cabinets with games like pacman and defender. Owner/Operator Kyle provides the excellent customer service and knowledge you would hope and expect from a place like this. This place is a definate Gem! Overall best locally owned arcade Ive been to since the 90s!
Good place nice people alot of good anime box sets arcade games are nice and in good condition
I had a blast at Boss Stage! What I really like about his place is that they keep adding new things and expanding. Ill definitely be back for more video game and nerdy awesomeness!
$12 for unlimited play. Pretty decent selection of old school arcade games. Lots of Japanese rhythm games as well.
Always a fun place to hang out. Very casual atmosphere thats good for an older crowd. Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful with recomendations. If you like anime and gaming this is your place to go.
This place is awesome! Prices can be a bit high but well worth it
AWESOME place to play. Lots of cool figures, and.anime. come check it out. Its worth it
The machines work, the staff are friendly and agreeable, and the arcade has a lively crowd of fighting game players. Overall a great example of an arcade. One of the last in the state with music games also.
I bought a coupld figures here because its seems like the only place in colorado to get anime figurines. However after learning more about this topic i realised this guy overcharged me by $60 at minimum. I work hard for my money and will be buying future purchases online or at conventions. Shame..
I stopped by Boss Stage for the first time and just loved it they have great old school arcade games the staff was very nice and welcoming BIG PLUS in my book will start coming here to play games..I recommend this place to gamers specially old school gamers...
Unlimited play at the arcade for a very reasonable price - also the staff and environment is friendly and very inviting. This place is a gem.
If you love video games, manga, and anime (and who doesnt), then this is the place to go. Before I moved to the Springs, this was a great hotspot for me to go to. And with it being next door to the Magic The Gathering card shop, it made the area more fun and a bigger place to make new friends. They could use some cosplay supplies to expand on the anime community, but definitely an all in all worthy place to go for a fun time.
Fun little spot with friendly staff!
A very nice little Japanese themed shop and arcade!
Incredible Selection of Rhythm Games - Without a doubt the best in Colorado.Furthermore a Community oriented, friendly, and open staff make this place a true treasure for anyone into arcade, rhythm game, or Japanese pop culture.
Awesome place with a great selection of games and all the anime you could ever want. Reasonable prices with a very cool and fun atmosphere. Best hangout ever!
Lots of manga and figures for sale, and the arcade has good machines such as Sound Voltex, multiple DDRs, Taiko drums, Initial D, and many more. Staff was friendly, and at the time of writing this it was 15$ for all day use of the arcade.
This is the place if you are a hardcore gamer or anime/manga fan. I really recommend joining in on their monthly lock-in events on the last Saturday on the final day of the week if you want to hang out with a great group of people. Not a Family Fun Center and that is why I love it.
Met a cute girl, playing the drums. ^-^ i wish i ask for her number. 10/10 would come back!
Awesome classic style anime store. Tons of manga, figurines, movies. They have everything you could ask for and more! If you love all things anime check this place outOh yeah. It also had a video game arcade attached to it, so if youre into that as well. Its an all day play pass style game environment so check it out! I didnt try it, but when I do, I will try to update this.
Knowledgeable, friendly, and good selection all around. Enjoyed the unlimited play arcade at a reasonable price.
Discovered them a few months back and purchased tons of anime figures from them.Really good prices on most of their selection!
Amazing service great people best anime store in Colorado :D
If youre into Arcade games and Japanese Rhythm games. This is the place for you!
Its ok for the price, if you are in to anime, all the people leaving reviews that say best arcade in Colorado must not have been too hyperspace, its $3 cheaper for an all day pass and about 4 times larger with waaaay more games too play, including a lot of the Japanese ones they have here. And about 15 pinball machines too.
Best arcade Ive ever been to. The atmosphere and games are perfect.
Very serious collector and everything is priced up to 300%For some reason whatever part they were having was more important tha custom serviceMy friend literally got yelled at for touching stuff she wanted to buyMaybe keep your private collection and parties at your house
The place is usually busy but they have a great selection of product.
Best arcade around seriously. They have games you can never find out of Japan! 15$ equals free play all day! The owner is really cool and the anime side of the store is awesome especially if you are looking for manga, anime on DVD, and figures / models.
Went here on a Friday evening with my kid. The owner was out of town and had a friend watching the shop who didn’t know much and couldn’t redeem my Yelp coupon. I foolishly paid full price. Most of the games are severely outdated, out of order, or don’t function properly and the place is a mess. Terrible experience. Avoid.
Its a small place but its a gem for its location. They have some pretty rare collectibles for sale and the arcade was in good condition. I would recommend this place to anyone who is into anime, manga, or gaming.
All you can play rhythm and old school fighters. A great night and awesome staff.
If youre a rhythm game fan, there is no better arcade in Colorado. All the machines are on free play. They have two popn music machines, a ddr machine, an In The Groove machine, and two beatmania machines.Try to make it to a lock in night during the last Saturday of each month for a chance to hang out with some cool peeps.
It was a great little store with lots of figurines, manga, and anime
Best arcade in Denver. Love the atmosphere and selection of games.
Great selection of rythym games on free play. You have to pay the cover but if you have time stay for a while and it is totally worth it.
Pricy, strange anime shop with really odd arcade. Go if youre looking for something different.
Initial d stage 8 is always fun with a friend
What a wonderful place, honestly. The moment you walk in, youre greeted usually by one of the owners and they really know customer service. If you come often enouh theyll take time to get to know you, help you make purchases and order things for you as well. They offer all sprts of drinks and food and have regular specials and deals and events such as a monthly lock in, $2 for Tuesdays, etc. Makes you want to keep coming back. The arcade side of the place is flawless, well yeah, I mean of course things break down now and again but they do care about the arcade games. Its a great hidden spot for fans of rhythm games of a foreign assortment. Konmai cant legal this.
If you are an otaku this is gonna be the safe haven. With a wide array of figures, manga, anime, and arcade games. Not to mention that the owner goes to Japan to get merchandise for the store. If you want you can even make requests on their Facebook page for certain items. For the people going there for 18+ merch, you will have some selections.
The owner was super nice. Very knowledgeable about anime and video game systems. Good assortment of rare and current figures, anime merchandise, and classic video games, among other things. Definitely worth stopping by if you love anime or games.
One of the best arcades in the Denver/Thornton area. Nustled in the geeky side of the old Albertsons shopping center (its also neighbored by a Card shop that does Mtg and Pokemon and a comic shop.) Comes Boss Stage Arcade. It started as a small one two roomed arcade which is now 3 rooms for more space. Best of all, the establishment is dedicated to all things gaming and anime related. For one fee of 12 bucks, you can enter and exit the place all you want and the shop. The gaming side is where the 12 comes in; for that price is all free play on their arcade cabinets they always try to rotate to add more variety to play including at times things from Japan as well as all you can play consoles too From the XBOne, PS4 all the way to N64 with their selection. They also sell used games too which is a bonus for folks who want to add to their console collection and trades for money or store credit which are negotiable which could be free admission for certain times for one as well as anime goods too they always newly get on a certain basis or by donations. Customer service is always nice given the owner and folks employed try to include (an inclusive arcade you say? Yes) everyone into the place and always try to want you to have a great time. They also hold gaming tournaments plus anime watching days and themed days. Overall, if youre a gamer, anime fan or a all around Otaku or geeky person come on down and support them. Please support this business.
Overpriced. Id suggest shipping from AmiAmi, HLJ and Nippon-yasan websites. they will all give you back 50-100$ per figurine by comparison to this place Staff is nice except the owner. poor selling skills; more like gult tripping skills. If you like arcades theres Akihabara with a bar and fun antiques
What can I say, other than this is my favorite arcade in all of Colorado.Boss Stage has a great selection of anime, manga, used games and anime figures. The store also has a good sized arcade with a fantastic selection of Japanese and other import cabinets, which are all very well Maintained. I especially like that they have both DDR and Pump It Up. On top of that, the entire arcade is on free play as long as you pay the admission(which is $16 at the time of writing this).Lastly, the owner, Kyle, is incredibly friendly and makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door.I will keep coming back here for a long time!
Amazing place with well-maintained machines, and the owner Kyle is super friendly and welcoming
SUPER great selection of manga, dvds, video games and accessories. Only downside is the clerk who seems to talk far too much and far too bluntly.
Small business arcade with cool not American games.
Pretty chill place, not a lot of arcades to play but I mostly go to buy DVDs and the wide selection of figures they have!
Well well actually havent been able to visit this place but Ive gone down there twice and they were closed both times when everything else said that they were open so I really want to check this place out but I cant get ahold of anybody and correct hours arent posted and you know it cost money to get that far from my house so not being able to know when its open and closed is you know not cool
Awesome owner great atmosphere, got some cool games and lots of old school games! Wish it was closer!
Japanese-style arcade with an affordable pay once, play all day price structure. Great, rare rhythm game cabs and some of the more vague arcade classics.
