Mavis’s prices for tires are very good. I’ve had a few negative instances at the Wayne Hamburg Turnpike location. One instance is yesterday when I called in the morning before work to check if I could bring. My car there to get a back tire changed, the response is “You’re giving me a time frame and I can’t promise anything”. And then he puts me on hold for god knows how long. I took my business elsewhere to another location Oakland NJ Mavis which was a great move I said I would leave my car with them while I was at work and the job was done after 2:30. Now that’s phenomenal service. Nick & Janice were awesome! They are the true meaning of customer service.

Absolutely grateful for the service at this shop, I called to make a last minute appointment for my tire that had a screw in it. Apparently the appointment never went through the system but the manager was so amazing and got my car in ASAP as I needed to go to work within a few hours. He took care of my car and helped me get out as quick as possible. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs help.

This is my second excellent experience at the Oakland Mavis, and I believe the outstanding service provided by Nick deserves recognition.I made an appointment w Nick to have my tires rotated. When I bought my car inNick asked if I had the necessary accessaries to protect my car battery pack (I have an electric car and special pads have to be put on the jack lifts to prevent potential damage to the battery pack). I had no idea what he was talking about, but he showed me on Amazon what I needed. Nick actually helped me order the correct parts! When they came in I went back to Mavis and spoke w Nick about making an appointment to rotate the tires. Nick offered to do the job that morning for me, even though there were other customers. The job got done that morning, and there was NO CHARGE! That’s service - thanks Nick!

Usually they have good customer service, but if they have a lot of cars do not expect the same as they tend to get overwhelmed quite quickly. Also, do not bother on making the appointment as they do not respect the timing and only do service first come first served, at least this is based in my several experiences in this location.

I was so upset that my tire was losing air as I was driving. I saw mavis tires on the left and pulled in. I never heard of this company but this service was phenomenal. Effiecent and quick!! Will definitely come back if needed !!

It was truly a blessing that Mavis is one of the few tire repair shops that are open on Sunday! I had a flat tire in the rear and really needed to get back on the road. Called in to set up an order number and the operator was really sweet, and let me know about what kind of options I had in order to help get my car back in working order. I had the pleasure of having Hamdi oversee the work (thank God the flat tire could be repaired!) and he directly showed me the quotes on a number of tire brands in the event that I needed to replace my tires. I will definitely return for any future car troubles!

Called a day ahead to make an appointment 8am opening time to have a tire checked.Arrived on time and there were 2 people without appointments ahead of me. Was told they don’t take appointments only reservations and even then it’s a first come first serve basis. What does that even mean? It makes no sense. If u arrive on time then u should be given priority if u have a reservation. Spoke with two different people and no one took the time to ever explain this to me. The manager was extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of apologizing he just kept saying sarcastically “have a nice day” to make me go away. Would not even acknowledge my issue. I tried to tell him this policy needs to be explained to people when they call . The manager has no people or managerial skills and acts like he just hates his job and customers. He was incredibly disrespectful. Been to this location before and noticed he has an angry and curt disposition.Go to the Mavis in Ridgewood instead. The staff was polite and professional and explained the policy stating they would give preference to those with reservations.

Had a slow leak in one of my tires and went in to see if they could patch this. Have had this happen many times before and most times I’ve been pushed to but at least 2 if not 4 new tires. Not here, the took a look, found the leak, sealed it and had me out the door in under 30 minutes and under $30. My car came back with the interior wiped down and cleaned. Professional and friendly staff who kept me informed! Excellent experience.

Very impressed by the staff and leadership at this location. Very well organized and keep me in the loop at all times. They set a great time expectations so my day was far from lost. Not knowing much about cars I was well informed of everything that needed to get done to fix my car. Found a nail embedded in my tire and major leak after being parked about 5 minutes from Mavis in Oakland. It was a Saturday, mid-afternoon. All work was completed along with free tire rotation, in 40 mins from the time I arrived and as I waited. Cost? $32. Almost too good to be true. The manager, Hamdi, was both pleasant and honest about the charges (and potential charges) upfront. I would come here again. Great experience.

Very bad service. before i gave them the keys to my car i specifically asked to make sure they didnt scratch the rims while they were changing the tires. i took pictures of my rims before i handed over the keys, and when they were done (2hrs later) the clear coat on the rims was chipped. once the clear coat is broken, the rims become real ugly and dirty and they cant be cleaned. i told the guy at the front desk(heavy set white guy) to come look at it. he denied the whole thing. the chips in the clear coat were so obviously fresh, and not only that but i have BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES, yet still he didnt take blame. then he proceeded to tell me that i should leave the car there and that it would cost $180 PER RIM to fix the clear coat, and that it was a good deal. so after i just paid $600 for two tires, he now wanted me to leave my car here for two days and pay an additional $360 for a problem he caused. im reporting them to the BBB and i wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. im not even the kind of person to do these kinds of reviews but this guy didnt even want to take the blame and then he wanted me to pay almost $400 for something HE did.

Have been using this Mavis location for several years however the addition of Jeremy as the Assistant Manager has put their service over the top. Jeremy was not only friendly, but he went above and beyond to help us with places we could try to find a spare tire for my car. He is a true asset to Mavis and this location.

Only gave them one star because I couldn’t give him no stars. They could not complete an alignment on my vehicle. I was there for four hours to get four new tires. I got a flat two weeks later (not the dealer’s nor manufacturers fault)and one of the studs was cross threaded and my only option was to break the stud off.Was asked to contact Mavis headquarters, 2 weeks still waiting for a response .Still waiting ... 4 weeks now

Thought I had a nail in my tire but I didnt, my tire pressure was just low. They filled all my tires to the right tire pressure and didnt charge me. They were quick too! Highly recommended 👌

I choose a set of bridgestone driveguard tires based on the the mavis website recommendation. one tire blew out a month later, which was clearly due to manufacturer defects, which i dont hold mavis accountable for but they told me i should have choosen a different and coincidentally more expensive tire. they certainly didnt make any suggestions when first installing the tire and then continued to try to get me to upgrade all the tires, which were practically new. when replacing the tire they broke my wheel lock, which took over a month to resolve. later on two different tires blow out to due to the same manufacturing defect, which resulted in the side wall splitting open but they wouldnt even help with understanding if this was a issue with other customers and tires. as a distributor they should be concerned with carrying what is clearly a bad batch of tires if not a completely dangerous tire that should be recalled. bridgestone also hasnt been very helpful but i plan to elevate those issues to the BBB.

Keith at Mavis Tire in Oakland, NJ did us a great service today. My wife ran over some concrete debris on the highway and it caused a flat, damaged tire. Upon towing it in Keith looked at it immediately, checked us in and took care of it. Same day, no fuss. He even called as we traveling home from work in the afternoon so we could stop right in to pick up the car. Fair price and excellent service! We will be coming back!

In and out no hassle for 2 snow tires and a good price

I guess if they don’t like what you say, they delete your review. Mine was there one day and gone the next. I did a repair for 689.00 when I went in for my tire losing air. I was told I needed struts in front and leaking shocks had to be repaired and of course an alignment. Being female i panicked with my front end I told them to do it but not the shocks which would be another 300.00. Took my car to have my shocks looked at an was told they weren’t leaking everything was ok. I’m wondering if my struts were really bad. To top that they did a printout of my alignment and it had to be done again! This all took place within 2 weeks. So disappointed!

Its always great when you get exactly the service that was promised! We called Kevin at the Mavis Discount Tire in Oakland yesterday to order the tire and this morning it was done in the time promised. Bravo!

If I could give a zero I would. Had a 9:00am appointment for our 2 vehicles. 8 tires and 4hours later to get job completed. When I got the appointment they said 2 hours I just thought they were covering in case something was wrong. They closed the bay doors so we couldnt see what they were doing. 4 tires are normally done under a hour. I wouldnt recommend this pitiful place to anyone

Making an appointment means nothing. No matter how flexible you are I was informed there will always be at least 1 to 2 hour wait. I have spent thousand in the Oakland location fir my car my grandsons car my daughter-in-law car. I have not experienced any friendly or caring person working there. I just found out that jiffy lube is part of the Franklin makes car wash . They took me right away for and oil change and very super friendly. I highly recommend them

My dad had a flat tire and brought it in to this location to plug the hole. They claimed they couldn’t plug the hole and tried to charge him for a brand new tire. He declined and took the tire to Tire Tech & Auto Repairs in Oakland where they were able to plug the hole with no problem. If you’re looking for dishonest mechanics who will try to up sell you on repairs and replacements, this is your place.

Just want to thank Keith at our localMavis, Oakland, NJ. Had my Audi in for brakes and a needed alignment. After picking up my car, it was immediately evident the brakes were not performing correctly, and I spoke with Keith right away. After I spent a few more minutes putting my car thru the paces, the brakes were definitely not grabbing properly. Keith told me to bring the car back immediately and he was going to get a new set of equipment in the morning. He never questioned me, simply wanted to make sure I was happy with their work. He called me today at lunch to let me know that it was not only completed but also validated the change made a huge difference. Now back in my car, it is Ike night and day! THIS is correct and I couldn’t be happier that Keith not only took me at my word, but when he tested the car himself today before and after he told me straight up it was a huge difference. He took care of the changes at no extra charge to me - This is the kind of integrity that will continue to keep our family coming back. Thank you Keith and thank you to the team at Mavis.

I never write reviews but I believe that Keith and Melissa earned and deserve the recognition provided by my review of my experience at Mavis at this location. I usually do car work on my own because I try to avoid dishonest mechanics which I know are prevalent in the industry. I did think that I needed an alignment (among other things) and since I dont have the necessary equipment to do a proper alignment, I bit the bullet and came to Mavis.After my experience there, I can say that I was glad that I worked with Keith and Melissa because they made my experience well worth it. To be honest, honesty didnt seem to be synonymous with how I viewed the nature of mechanics. To my surprise, Keith gave me the whole rundown on what was wrong with my car without pushing me to get everything done at the moment. There was quite a list I gotta tell you but Keith was honest enough to tell me the list of problems and that I didnt need to work on them right away but gave me the warning signs to look out for for when I really should take care of them because he knew that I would handle it just fine all on my own. Most mechanics will just tell you that you need to work on them now and pay all this money or else you wont even be able to drive your own vehicle home before it breaks down. Hes one of the few honest mechanics Ive ever heard of.I spoke of my concerns about my car while I was in the waiting room without necessarily implying that Melissa should go find anything out for me but she went out of her way on 3 separate occasions to find out without giving me time to stop her. That is service! Want to hear the real zinger about this review before I wrap it all up? Not only did Mavis, along with the service of Keith and Melissa fix my cars problem, they charged me nothing! I can tell you that there was time and labor involved in fixing the problem but Keith told me that the work was minimal so they decided that it was on the house!Hey man, I can tell you with utmost honesty that I have never dealt with this level of service before. Coupled with dispelling my lack of distrust of mechanics along with being treated the way that I had been in this place, I can honestly say that I will be coming back to them because I now know that their service is stellar. I have been using them for years, but this time we called got price on an oil change but it was nearly double quoted price at pick up. When I called I was told that the guy who gave the original price was new so he did not know what the correct price was. Had I known I would have taken to one of the other places in town for far less. Because their word is not any good I have lost trust and will not return. Just make sure you get a written price before you start because their word is not to be trusted. Update- I called and they did not know what I was talking about and said I would get a call back but I never did. It seems that the response to my review was BS

My run flat tire on my Audi was brand new and got a nail in it. I told them the pressure never went low it just got a nail and lost one pound of air. They told me they would not repair the tire and had to spend $400 on a new tire mean while my run flat tire was fine and could’ve been repaired . Had it repaired elsewhere and the tire is fine . Mavis just wanted the sale of a new tire and not the business of a $20 fix.

The guy gave me a great deal on two run flat tires for my BMW. They ordered the two tires and told me theyd be delivered same day, and that the job would be finished same day. Mavis in Oakland, NJ did an outstanding job diagnosing my brake problem and replacing my struts and saved me hundreds of dollars compared to the dealer doing nothing for me.

DO NOT take your car here. I had four tires mounted and balanced, called before hand, said it would be around 70 bucks for all 4 tires.First of all, over the phone they told me my appointment was for 11 A.M. when arrived early at 10:50 A.M., they told be they don’t book appointments, it’s just a general time you can bring your car in and that I’d probably have to wait 4 or 5 hours.Why not tell me that over the phone? It’s January, freezing outside, and I haven’t made plans for a ride. Everyone is working and I’m stuck waiting.When it was finally done, the total came to over 200 dollars. I asked him to please check the price again. Yup, he was sure 200 bucks. I told him that I called earlier and got quoted a price of about 70 dollars and that this was not my first time having this done. I told him it’s usuall a 50 to 80 dollar job depending on where you take it and that 200 makes absolutely no sense.He looks over his computer screen again and says, “Oh sorry!” And puts the price down to 70 dollars with no explanation. The guy can’t even make eye contact with me at this point and is handing me all My paperwork saying sorry 100 times.If I hadn’t said anything, there is no DOUBT he would have taken the 200 dollars. Maybe he would’ve kept the extra $130 and had himself a nice night out on the town.They will rip you off if you are kind of naive about cars. PLEASE, do not give these scumbags your business.

Had a great experience here. Guys were honest and didnt try to up sell me on my four new tires I needed. Did an alignment and I wasnt fully satisfied so I came back and they checked it and adjusted it again and were very nice and helpful.

A complete rip off. I went there to have my alternator changed and they said that I should consider getting my brake pads changed soon. They said the brake pads were fine for now and that I should get them changed when I came in for my oil change in about a month. I took my car in today, a month after that conversation, and was told that my brake pads and the bearings underneath were completely worn down and now it all needed to replaced on all 4 tires for $600 instead of just the pads. When I asked them why they told me last time that it could wait when it clearly couldnt, they had nothing to say. So they are either lying about all of the extra damage and parts that need to be replaced or they purposely had me wait so that I would have to pay extra money when I finally got my brakes done. I will be taking my car to be repaired elsewhere and recommend that others do the same.

Went to get a tire looked at because it kept losing air, they told me there was a nail and they couldnt patch it because there was another patch too close. they also told me all four of the tires on my 2016 car had dry rotted. took it to the dealer because if that was true they had put old tires on a newer car. dealer showed me what dry rot actually looked like and that my tires were fine. they were also able to patch the hole no problem and said there was no other patch. I dont appreciate being lied to.

After getting an oil change they rotated my tires and lost or forgot a lug nut on a rear tire. When I returned to request a replacement they asked me to wait 30 min for service. I asked to just give me a lug nut and Ill put it on myself. The guy behind the counter said that they didnt have any, really?!? A tire service doesnt have spare lug nuts? I mean if they didnt put mine back on how many others have they missed. That said, they should have plenty of lug nuts in the service area.Definitely wont be returning for any services. Bad service for their mistake!!!1 week later I decide to give them another chance to get my oil changed. Later that week I kept smelling something hot, burning. When I looked under the hood there was oil all over the front of the engine compartment. Someone didnt put the dipstick back in all the way. Oil had been gushing out for a week. If they had seized my motor, oh boy.DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, THEY ARE INCOMPETENT MECHANICS!!!
