Madrid work is great. I went in very nervous and unsure if I was going to like my haircut. Although right when I walked in my experience was wonderful I didnt wait long to be seen. I was offered snacks to have. The atmosphere was very comfortable. I showed Madrid a picture of what I wanted, he listened to what I liked and what I didnt want. I was able to tell how educated he was in his work. Also his product that he has fits for my curly hair and helps with frizzy hair. I know I will be going back often. THANK YOU MADRID!

I had looked for a new stylist for months. After calling about eight different businesses, most were closed due to COVID, I was surprised to learn Monroe was not only open but could see me sooner rather than later.The shop was clean and Monroe was true to his word, I did not have to wait for him to work on my hair. He took safety seriously and adhered to all COVID protocols. He is a sweetheart, but does not talk you to deaf like some stylist do. The shop is not a neighborhood hang out, which I appreciated. I would recommend Monroe to anyone needing a stylist. Oh and by the way…he did a wonderful job on my hair.

Wonderful job!! For a long time I’ve wanted a curly/natural short tapered look but couldn’t find a place to do it with my 4C hair. After lots of searching, I found Madrid and I could tell from the initial call I was in good hands. Hadn’t even met yet but after describing the look I wanted, he gave me some options and booked an appointment for the following week.Fast forward to appointment day. We initially decided on the tapered cut with a texturizer. But after seeing my hair in person and learning my lifestyle (VERY low maintenance on hair care), he explain another option: the body wave. He took his time to explain why it’d work better for me and talked me through the aftercare. Was very professional and friendly during the appointment too. Took a little longer than expected but that’s because my appointment changed, so no worries.Once all was said and done, I looked in the mirror and fell in love!! Madrid knew exactly what I was hoping for and went beyond that. I finally have the style I’ve wanted for YEARS. I WILL be back for maintenance and any new styles I want to try. I was in town last minute and he squeezed me in first thing in the morning (even though I was not an existing client)! He was extremely professional and personable. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the shop and how efficiently he managed the time. Most important though is that my hair looks amazing- clean scalp, shiny and soft hair, and freshly trimmed edges. Would definitely recommend!

Madrid was so patient with me. I recently cut my off my afro after 15 years and colored my hair on my own and was dissatisfied with both. I ruined the color and had no clue what shape would look good on me. Madrid educated me on my hair color and figured out what was best to accomplish the color I wanted it. Madrid cut my hair on a visit to Phoenix and it was amazing. I have never had my hair cut with such precision. I appreciated that he talked through the steps he was preforming as I was a new client and a little nervous about getting my hair cut. Madrid somehow managed to take off the dead ends while still retaining my length. My hair was stick straight, with minor touch-ups, for just over 1 week (my hair could have lasted longer, but it’s time to head back to the gym) and even survived a 4 mile run. Ive also always been afraid of salons due to past bad experiences, but I decided I wanted to try something new! With a lot of research, I found Madrid! I received a blowout and a hair cut from Madrid, and I loved it, he evened out my hair, and it was a very precise cut. I rocked my blowout for a few days and everyone loved it; my afro was really popping. Lol After washing my hair, my curls reverted right back, and my wash and go came out so much better than before my cut. If youre a nervous natural and scared to let people do your hair, like me, go to Madrid and let him hook you up boo. Madrid was very professional and took his time to consult with me before starting on my hair. I expected a shampoo, condition and style, but only received a haircut for $65. My haircut was MUCH shorter than expected and not like the images I showed him in advance, but still a good haircut. I wanted a nice trim and shape due to some breakage at my front hairline and I arrived with a big curly fro and left with a very short TWA. I think it will grow out nicely, but I’ll speak up more next time to make sure my expectations are clear and we’re on the same page.

In the few times I’ve gone for my service I Found Madrid to be not only personable but is a good conversationalist and listener. He is an excellent color specialist and is very precisioned when cutting and styling hair. He’s also a natural at working with natural African American hair. The added perks are complimentary coffee, tea, chips, bottled water, any magazine you desire to read, music for your listening pleasure, and cakes and cookies every now and then.

Madrid really took his time to make sure that I loved my cut I went from about 14 inches of hair to a short cut and he made sure I left the salon satisfied and with a cut that really fit my face shape. I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw the finished look. It’s been about a week or so and Madrid’s hair products have also been working well for me. I will definitely be back again!

When I know I want a great cut, I go to Madrid Johnson!!! He has been doing my hair since the 80’s and has done it all color, relaxer, and giving me first big chop. So, of course I called him for my second not chop some 18 years later. I love how he gives insight on what works for your hair and what fits you in every area. You show him what you want and he’s honest if it will work and gives suggestions on alternatives how to make it work but you know form the beginning the truth!! He is worth every penny!! Love him!!

My first appointment with Madrid was a trim. I wear my hair natural and it is VERY thick. After the cut I went home, washed my hair. The cut gave my hair new life, my curl pattern bounced back and looked so healthy! I had to go back for more. Madrid covered my Gray. The only thing I told him was not too dark. He turned his back, mixed up some color. My color looks natural, not too dark and picked up the gray but it’s looks like brown/red highlights, my natural color. He wet set my hair in rods. I had very tight curls that loosen daily. I LOVE IT! He advised me on maintaining this style and it’s working. I also purchased his hair balm for thick hair on my first visit that I’m using to moisturize my style, this will be my staple moisturizer especially for this style. So good to find a professional that is knowledgeable about all hair types, natural, relaxed, and clients of different ethnicities! I was like, “ oooh this man knows hair!” I will just say in the words of Jennifer Holiday “I ain’t going nowhere!” I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Yes, I was only there for a blow dry and trim of my thick long 4c hair, but it was the first time in 8-9 years having a professional touch my hair.Last time I got it done by a professional it was a perm, and my hair stylist then told me that next time I would in for an appointment he will have to chop it all off due to damage. Of course this person never warned, showed, or coached me through signs of damage over the 2 years of seeing him so, that really formed a level of distrust I had for black haircare stylists.Ao getting in the chair and letting Madrid work got me unexpectedly emotional because he knew what he was doing. He told me how we can trim my hair of damaged ends slowly over the next few months, pointed out signs of damage, and tips to take care of my hair. He also sells his hair products for a reasonable prices, like less than $20 per product.Also, can I mention this is a drama-free zone! No DVDs being sold, arguments, petty conversation between stylists. Very professional! Prices are reasonable for a trim (less than 100) And I got out in 90 minutes.Safe to say I’ll be back and be referring him to other homies and family with natural hair.Thanks Madrid

Just got my hair done at Bleu Champu and i love it! I had heat damage on the ends of my hair and needed a cut badly. Madrid gave me a consultation and was able to fit me in right after for a shampoo and cut/style. He did an great job! My hair feels/looks so much healthier. He did not pressure to cut my hair but I felt so comfortable and trusted him. I recommend you go there for any service you need. I will be coming back everytime i need something done to my hair!

My review is based on my over the phone consultation. Madrid was friendly and listened very carefully to what I wanted. He gave me many options to suit my preferences. I am natural and very uneasy about others washing, blow drying, and flat ironing my hair. He was flexible by allowing me to wash my own hair before coming in. He even offered to allow me to just come in with it already blowdryed if I felt more comfortable with that as an option. Great customer service Madrid! Thank you.
