I am very disappointed with my experience with the customer service I received from Ponoko. I placed an order for several laser cut parts with expedited processing and shipping. I asked a straightforward question to understand what the impact would be on the delivery timeline if I made a change, and instead of answering the question I was given a generic response. I asked for clarification on my original question but did not receive a response. After no response for 2 days I followed up. The day my order should have shipped rolls by with still no response or status update on the website. I followed up again and they finally respond informing me that changing a part will impact my lead time and that they had put my order on hold for the revision. I never requested that they put the order on hold nor was I informed until 2 days after it should have shipped.The worst part of this experience is that when given multiple opportunities to try to make the original mistake right the company failed to follow through. In every instance they failed to communicate in a reasonable way or within their stated response time. This whole situation could have easily been avoided. I requested to have the order refunded but never heard back and ended up having to go through my credit card company to get a refund. At this point, I never received any explanation for what happened, why this was a fluke, or an attempt to make amends. Thus I have zero confidence in this companys ability to deliver.I ended up placing the same order through Sculpteo. Better website, more visibility into the current state of the order, the cost was about 30% less, quicker processing time and the same 2 day shipping option.There even was an issue with one of the files that I was immediately alerted to via email and in the UI. After resolving the issue, the rep responded within a few hours and the order was immediately processed and still shipped on time. If Ponoko, wants to know what the bar looks like, this is it.

How can everyone comment about the great service when they dont answer their phone?

Ive used ponoko for small personal projects for a little over two years now. Theyre my favorite service for getting materials cut and engraved for a few reasons1. Their prices are fairest of any other service I found that offers automated quotes2. Their catalog is easy to browse3. Their staff have reached out on more than one occasion to help correct minor errors in my designsIf this wasnt enough, their new site design is pretty wonderful. The old site had some rough edges around file uploading and project management, the overhaul has smoothed over a ton of it. To top it all off, it seems like they now dont need to force set sizes, the last design I did was able to be cut to its dimensions instead of packaged with other items.Theyre always striving to improve, and their customers continually reap the benefits from it.

Ponoko is first and foremost an amazing service! The fact that an average joe such as myself can have a manufacturing shop at my disposal for nominal cost is a dream!!!!What sets Ponoko apart from the rest however is that its more than just cutting and itching, its also real people that check and assist with all designs before materials are even selected. Ponkos series of checks (both automated and performed by real people!) prior to making ensures that your end result is a success.I personally reached out to their support, due to an error made on my part, and not only did they help me to correct the error (which again was my fault), but they also helped me spruce up my design in general. I only worked with one rep, but I am sure they are all as helpful and friendly as Shannon.TL;DR: With a service like Ponoko there is no reason for you not to build that dream project.
