All the flavors that we ordered were delicious. Rum raisin ice cream was good. The St. Peters Gates soft cookies held up against the creamy and cold Black Cherry Vanilla, cookies-and-cream ice creams. I tasted one of my familys Cookies and Cream cones, and I had to force myself to give it back, or I was going to eat it all.The prices could be considered a bit high, but you often get what you pay for as homemade quality has a price. I would get ice cream from here again.

Classic feel good ice cream all made from scratch. Got the FBI - it’s was delicious but more so it just felt like a great beach experience to get homemade brownies and ice cream from a local place serviced in a little paper dish. Place will put you in a food coma with their rich combinations but it’s worth it on all levels. Only complaint would be fairy high price (almost ten bucks per item) but given its local small business with made to order food it’s worth the higher price tag to support a business like this.

Fantastic ice cream, and my Sunday was so yummy! Love that its all home made.Also doing a great job of keeping everyone safe in current conditions! Will definitely be an annual destination for us when were in OCNJ.

Good ice cream. Still not open for inside ordering you have to stand outside in hot sun with no shade and then wait outside in the hot sun there are benches that have no shade to sit on to eat if you want to stay. Not an ideal setup.

My family and I have been visiting this establishment for 10+ years, and look forward to it every year, as we live a block away. The ice cream is absolutely delicious, however the past couple years we have been slowly starting to go to look elsewhere for ice cream. The lady standing outside with the bow for years is very mean and unfriendly, always trying to micromanage and is very rude to customers. This has been a common complaint from people on the south end, as well as the owners being notoriously rude and unappreciative to customers.Mikes seafood across the street is a great alternative if you like soft serve and water ice, as all of the staff and owners are extremely accommodating and friendly, and are very appreciative of the business!

Really amazing ice cream. definitely best on the island but they have a sundae called the Plantation which seems a bit insensitive- i could imagine if i were a black person in this majority white town i would feel incredibly upset and uncomfortable to see this part of my ancestors history and enslavement put up as a name for a sundae…if they were to change that this would be a 5 star review

I don’t recommend. We went last year during pandemic and were so disappointed and expected better this summer. The staff is not happy, which is not what you want to experience on vacation. The prices are crazy for what you get. My son ordered the pound cake a la mode and it was a 1”x4” sliver of over-toasted pound cake with one scoop of ice cream on top. That’s it. You can’t get cones because they just put your ice cream in a bowl and stick the cone on top.

The ice cream is amazing but the curmudgeon old lady who works here is a complete turn off. If you have been here you know who I am talking about. I would come here more if I didn’t have to deal with her and her completely rude manner basically every single time I go there. It’s honestly ridiculous. She yells at you if you aren’t standing in line the way she wants you to. Get over yourself, please.

To start: The ice cream tastes mediocre. The price was $23+ for 3 ice creams. There were multiple people running the place. It was well run, but the one female employee was rude. She told us to move over when we clearly didn’t have anywhere else to move. As for the ordering system (due to COVID-19), it was very smooth! I appreciated the precautions and order they kept despite the unusual situation. The main points are-Mediocre ice cream that is overpriced. Staff is pretty much friendly. It wouldn’t be my number one choice but it does the trick if you are near 55th street and don’t want to go far for dessert.

I used to come to a la mode all the time. I hadn’t been back to the beach in a couple years and I got a la mode and was very much disappointed. Ice cream was delicious but they have significantly decreased the size of the sundae to make it not even close to being worth the crazy price. A couple years ago I could split an FBI with my husband. Today I could finish my sundae by myself with room in my belly to spare. Just disappointing that the price is as high as it is and I’m barely getting ice cream. I will not be going back to a la mode. Too much of a rip off at this point. Mikes soft serve from here on out.

Ice cream is important... and theirs was tasty, traditional, I got the peanut butter swirl which was very good, vanilla based. My partner got the same thing, because they were out of the brittle kind he wanted. Both in cones, brought out also in cups with spoons, you know... upside down. Okay. Thanks.🙄 I get it, its hot out. Its summer. Its a pandemic. We had masks, we waited, we paid.. PRICEY FOR ICE CREAM 16$ for 2 Ice creams... tho, he had a waffle cone, a dollar more, I had a sugar cone. Still... PRICEY. And honestly, I know, its a pandemic, but attitude still shows thru the masks, and the young woman was quick to cut me off when I asked my question about if it was vanilla based, and only because we are in the food industry did we tip.. for that money, we can go down the street where its a bit more personable..

Unkind when taking our order, did not repeat back, got order wrong, ice cream took forever and all we got was 3 small cups (no toppings) and a milkshake. Really overpriced. Did not have appropriate to go containers despite only doing to go. Don’t go here. The place is a disaster and the ice cream is meh.

Ice cream is ice cream, you cant really mess it up. So while yes it tasted good, it wasnt worth the $6 for the 1/4 of a waffle and tiny scoop they put on top... And an extra $2 for whipped cream a topping? No. Not worth it at all. Then you have the customer service. This place was empty and I went to sit down at one of their tables to eat and within 30 seconds a lady told me to leave because theyre for waitress service only... but as I said there was no one else in there. Let me sit and eat! I was interested in trying this place, and I will never go back. Choose a different ice cream place

Honestly some of the worst service Ive had at any restaurant. We both ordered off the rainy day special and werent told til we had to pay that the rainy day special wasnt being offered today (even though it says every day 2-4:30). The only place a sampler is mentioned is on the rainy day special menu. Why did she not correct us when we ordered? We went many times the last few years and this experience was so bad, we wont be back.Having an immature college student as a manager is probably not the best idea, she just tried to talk down to us.This was our favorite place to get ice cream on the island, but honestly the prices and the service just arent worth it. The two guys in front of us got milkshakes with one topping that were $8+ each. Our order was $15, instead of the combined $8 from the special menu (for two people!).Theres too many other good ice cream places around to put up with service and prices like these.

Let me tell you about this ice cream store! My wife and I were craving some ice cream so we decided on A La Mode. The ice cream was outstanding! It was sugar free and tasted as good as regular or even better! I wish I lived in Ocean City so I could go all the time! Go here!

The best ice cream place on the South end by far! To be honest, Ive read some of the reviews saying people are rude here and I just simply do not agree. Sure they may have young workers there, but here on the island the majority of small business workers are you doing highschoolers. Having a college-aged manager doesnt make her any worse at her job. Im a local and I know you guys are just doing your best with the amount of rushes you guys get 9-11 on weekend nights. Some people say it may be pricey, but its not much more than anywhere else. Some people also say the amount it cost to the actual amount of ice cream you get is too small, but again, I think the amount of ice cream you get is just right, and frankly its too much for me. So to finish off, you guys have amazing ice cream, and youre doing just great.

Great south end spot...traditional ice cream shoppe (no soft serve, just scoop ice cream, sundaes and shakes). Gets very busy some evenings, but they move pretty quick, will come out with menus and take orders while youre waiting in line.... Heads up: cash only.

I got there and was immediately greeted by a small ginger boy working the register. He was very polite and had a really sweet smile. More impressive was his dealing with the two or three customers before me in line. Both were loudly complaining to him about things completely out of his control, and if I had my way I wouldve confiscated their wallets and asked them to leave, but he just smiled and listened to their nonsense. I ordered a cone with 8 scoops, which isnt even on their menu, but he took my order and had the scoop boys make it up. I left with a waffle cone with one scoop from every single flavor they had. I threw it on the windshield of the car of the woman who was being so difficult when I got there.

First time going to this business and I will never go back. I Felt very rushed with numerous high school student workers standing there clicking pens and having their arms crossed upon entering. It was not a welcoming atmosphere. The prices were outrageous I spent nearly $18 for 2 of their featured specialty sundaes. Ice cream was fine -no issues with the product at all. Aside from price the business could improve significantly if the workers seemed like they actually wanted to be there and didnt make the experience feel so rushed.

I was very dissatisfied with the service I received. I am a 20 year old women with a nut allergy that I am very familiar with as I have had it my whole life. I am allergic to treenuts but not peanuts. I have lived down the shore my whole life and have gone to get ice cream at different places at least once a week for my entire life. I went on to explain that the allergy is not that severe, cross contamination does not matter and I can just not have an ice cream with nuts in it. The waitress refused to serve me what I wanted and when I tried to explain my situation she said that the owner did not care ( the owners are ex nuns). Furthermore, I finally agree to having the allergen free ice cream and requested a small waffle and once again was refused because of possible allergens. I asked the waitress to explain to the owner the situation but once again the owner did not even come out to address the situation or speak to me. As a 20 year old woman who has been ordering ice cream and food out for years, I think I am capable of deciding what I can and cannot eat. They simply refused me service. Furthermore they nickel and dime you for everything. They charge 2 dollars for an extra plate to share.

Nice selections of flavors and sundae offerings. Can get really busy some nights so take a look at the sit down vs to go line, sometimes it quicker to sit (but you cant get cones). I had a waffle sundae that was really good the waffle was crispy on the outside and tasted great. Cash Only, they put their hours on the answering machine.

Saw some reviews about the bad work environment. Its kids. Get over yourself. They are working hard at a summer job and offer amazing icecream and service.

The line can be quite long but the service makes up for at as servers will take your orders the whole way for every person to the end of the line. Which is additionally helpful as some items, i.e. waffles, take longer to prepare. But they are so worth the wait. You can smell the waffles being cooked while in line and with the waffle still warm as the ice cream slowly melts on top, is fantastic, best item on the menu!

Fantastic homemade ice cream! Be warned it is rather pricey, but sharing a two scoop will be well worth it!

Ive been coming to this ice cream parlor for over 35 years. When I was a kid I came here with my grandparents. I came back again for the first time in a long time this past weekend and I was happy to see that not much had changed. Ive read reports about unpleasant service but I did not experience that myself. I was very pleased and had a great time.

Just came out of the restaurant and was very excited to enjoy my ice cream. Immediately as I walked in a lady yelled at me to put my shoes on when I was clearly putting them on, as I knew prior you need shoes on to be in there. After I paid I was on my way home enjoying my ice cream when I felt a hair in my mouth. There was hair in my ice cream. And no it wasnt my hair because i have black hair. But it was blonde. Im furious. Im angry. Hair is NOT SUPPOSE TO BE THERE. Sorry, but im TICKED OFF.

Every flavor I have had has been great, during the summer the line goes around the corner on the weekends, the kids and adults working there are trying their best to accommodate everyone. It is tough.
