Desperate for a good nights sleep, my wool mattress topper gives me the comfort to sleep deeper without hip, neck or back pain. The wool takes extra care, but worth it. I have enjoyed it for over the 6 months months now. I really appreciate it is a locally sourced family owned small business with organic products.

I purchased an Eastern King mattress 5 years ago from this company. Plus a topper. They both completely deflated/flattened in the middle within 6 months. 6 months and we literally roll in a hole. We didnt have the money to have them restuffed 6 months after we made a nearly 3k purchase. Now, when I can afford to have it restuffed, Im not sure I trust the company based on previous reviews, as well as the fact that my original purchase product failed so miserably.

April 26, 2021: Just saw owners response to my review below. I have documents on sequence of events that will prove what Susan (owner) said is untrue. Im not the only one who has experienced Susans accommodation of a situation to suit her convenience. Distortion of truth is a lie. I have been with my credit company for more than 35 years and have bought many items and have given high ratings. Unfortunately, I cant in this case. Wish I could.The worse customers service. There are other organic wool bed companies that offer excellent customer service and high quality products produced in the US. It was a nightmare dealing with Susan, the, owner, who is unprofessional and frankly distorted the truth to her advantage. Read other reviews with similar comments. More than one customer shared an unpleasant similar experience. This is the reason I did not recommend recently to a friend not to buy from this company.

I agree with many of the posters below. Sadly, Susan doesnt appear to be an honest person. Her replies lack integrity and professionalism. There are other companies out there with similar products and professional customer service who stand by their quality.Her emails and text are erratic and she makes promises she doesnt keep.You can see a trend in the reviews that this isnt an isolated incident.I do not recommend her or her bedding products.

Love love love the Wool mattresses - its so comfortable, its a 100% wool, organic and I also bought the duvet and sheet set. The bed makes you sleep like a baby in the winter, naturally keeping your body heat around you and in the summer, keeps you feeling cool. Great product, great company :)

I have been trying to work with Susan for the last month or so and am frustrated and feel the need to write this review so others can be forewarned. I have used her toppers for many years because I have lyme disease and have a problem with pain. The first topper was great and lasted many years before I refreshed it. The last topper I received last year only lasted a few months before all the wool shifted. My boyfriend was the first to notice and he never complains. He couldnt sleep well with that end near the top of the bed since it was not level. It was clearly missing wool or the wool had shifted, badly. I took pictures and video and reached out to Susan...Her first message was to send it back and she would confirm the defect and credit the shipping and make a new one. I was delighted and asked for a King instead of a Queen this time. I told her I would pay the difference no problem. It cost almost $400 to ship to her plus I had to purchase a special box but I was confident she would keep her word. Sadly, this didnt happen. First she tried to claim it was my new Savvy Rest bed that had the issue since I sent her pictures of the topper on my bed. Next, she said that five employees verified there was no defect and she was not crediting me my money. There is absolutely a defect and the fact that she disputes that is highly concerning to me in terms of her being an ethical business. I paid 400 dollars to ship it and instead of crediting that as she promised, now she wants an additional $440/ I would not make up something like this or wish to cause an issue. Stress is a killer for me. I offered as s a courtesy I would pay her half of the cost she wants so we can move on and maintain a professional relationship even though I feel it should be at no cost since the $400 shipping credit should cover everything. She refused but then said she would drop off at my house so I thought maybe she changed her mind....She sent me another invoice after it was dropped off and again wanted the $440 more dollars. I emailed her and again said, I would be willing to pay you half even though I feel strongly that I owe you nothing. What if this happens, again? We never came to any conclusion prior to her dropping it off so I assumed by her dropping it off she was apologizing and wanting to move forward. There are other natural wool topper companies out there. I have read some of her other reviews and feel the need to post. I also find some of her emails lack professionalism. I will be posting pictures and her texts shortly that show she promised to credit me the shipping. At the end of the day, its just money but having Lyme disease is very expensive and I have to be very careful with expenditures. I feel I did nothing wrong in this instance and that my offer to pay her $200 was more than fair since she didnt keep her word. She refused vehemently to compromise.Plush Beds has a nice wool topper and so does Shepherds Dream. I would recommend looking elsewhere. I am sorry, Susan, I tried to work with you but you seem unwilling to do the right thing. The customer is always right? My topper clearly was defective and that is a fact.Updated after seeing the companies reply. It doesnt surprise me. But you do the math. Many people reviewing have similar experiences but somehow we are the fraudulent ones? Come on. This woman doesnt reply with any kind of professionalism and her retort is BS. I gave her business in the past but never again. Run far away from this company who in my opinion lacks a moral compass.

I am leaving this review as a warning to others and because I would want to know if a business I was contemplating buying from owed money to a customer and had treated them this way. Susan, the owner, has owed me $200 for sending a wrong size pet bed for over a year now. She has 8 complaints over the course of 3 years on her BBB and there is a blog posting about her business with more complaints.I have been through two phone calls with her where she promised to send the right size bed soon. I gave her many months in between each call but she never sent anything and never had the decency to get back to me to let me know what was happening. Like the other people who complained on the BBB experienced the second time we spoke over the phone she acted like she knew nothing of the situation after having already been told and after supposedly having already sent the replacement which was promised on the first call. She finally agreed to just refund me earlier this year back in February after I told her I was going through the chargeback process with my bank so she said I would have the refund within 2 weeks. She claimed she had been trying to contact me many times which I never received any kind of communication from her and she claimed she had sent the bed but it was returned to her because we did not live here anymore. Keep in mind I have lived at the same address for 2 decades. I still have not received any refund.I am now finalizing my BBB complaint as well. I will end with I would think that Susan, who must be at least double my age, and so having lived on this Earth that much longer surely knows how it feels to be treated poorly by others and knows how on even the sunniest, best of days those painful memories can resurface and make it difficult to be at peace. She has a picture of her smiling up on her website and has obviously satisfied many customers so why she has chosen to do this to me is something Ill unfortunately always wonder why.

I have worked at The Wool Bed Company for almost two years now! I have been everywhere from the office to the mill making batts (wool). Our wool is made in a CLEAN and climate controlled room. Both the mill and work area where all of your products are made in are free of gas and propane as I’ve seen a few reviews regarding that smell. Everything is done by hand or sewing machine so there would be no need for those items😁With everything being made to order and having a small but very effective team of six, shipping time is certainly longer than Amazon but the quality of our 100% ORGANIC products is unmatched. Care sheets are filled out through the entire process of product creation to ensure consistency and accuracy. Just like any business there is always room for improvement but I hope that this puts a couple of these false reviews or assumptions to rest as I do work here and see the day to day operations.If you’re local, stop by and come take a look for yourself! Thank you everyone who has supported this small, family-owned and operated business!

I purchased a Surround Ewe Signature Mattress with Standard Topper as well as a Pillow and Neck Roll. The mattress and topper - like all of their items from what I understand - are custom-made for each customer. That alone is incredible especially given the low pricing (in comparison to other wool mattress products). When I unpacked my fantastically packaged shipment, I was so happy to see the super high quality of each item. Just perfect. And they include proper care instructions for each piece as well. I am sleeping super well now. In fact, I cannot wait to go to bed each evening! Thank you, Susan and The Wool Bed Company!

Im giving 5 stars strictly to the quality of the mattress topper which is what I paid for. As for the other experience, I had good luck with communication from the beginning. It was not as swift as a company that has operators standing by and I always kept in mind that this is a small company that crafts one mattress topper at a time. Im getting ready to have my 3 year old topper mailed out and renewed and pretty excited to see how it turns out. There is NOTHING like sleeping on the wool topper. We miss it tremendously if we ever have to be out of our home for more than a couple of nights. Thank you!

I’d give negative stars if I could. The customer service is horrible. The president is rude on the phone. I ordered a king topper, then found I had an issue with my bed and needed a different one for my health. I called/emailed both the day after (Saturday)my order requesting a cancellation. I received a response stating that everyone was out of the office and they would cancel it on Tuesday when they were in and my refund would follow. On Wednesday I tried calling and got no answer so replied to the email asking for confirmation that it was cancelled. Nothing. Thursday I called and was told I filed a claim with PayPal and I would have to talk to them (that is totally false, and I told Susan so. She replied that she would have to check into it rather rudely, and that she would call me right back.). She never called me back, nor would anyone pick up the phone. As far as I can tell she’s a scammer. Buyer be wary, if you’re reading these reviews you’re better off than I, and I’d stay far away. I will be talking with my credit card company, PayPal, and the BBB tomorrow if she doesn’t follow through.

I called to ask Susan some questions before ordering and she was very helpful. I placed my order over the phone and my full size mattress arrived a bit sooner than expected. My wife and I both prefer a firmer mattress so I decided to not get the pillow top, figuring I could buy it later. I did buy the protector pad though. Weve been using it for about 6 months and it seems to just keep getting better. Sure it will compress, but we rotate/flip it occasionally as instructed and it hasnt become even slightly lumpy. Its by far the most comfortable mattress Ive ever slept on. Its quality craftsmanship from a small business that I feel I can trust.

I have slept on my signature mattress and ultimate topper for over 6 years and I love it as much as I did when I first got it! Its like sleeping on a cloud; soft yet supportive. I have never slept better! I strongly recommend The Wool Bed Company, its the best organic bedding company around! I have had one of these mattresses going on 2 years and it is completely flat like a 2 rock you pay so much for one of Sues high quality products just for her to lie to you and take your money there are more respectful higher quality companys you should go to dont get stuck with a lemon 😉

Sometimes you need to write a review right away like for a restaurant or movie but some products need to be used to be able to write a true review. I bought a king mattress with ultimate topper, a full size bed topper, a custom made set of cushions for a lounger, a summer comforter and some neck rolls about a year ago so I know how they perform. I invested in these products for their quality and for the fact they are renewable so can stay with me for the rest of my life instead of being useless and throw away every 6-10years like conventional bedding is!My sleep has improved, the lounger is super comfortable, the topper is perfect for the guest bed and has been a pleasure for people having to sleep in the guest bedroom! Adding the topper will extend the life use of the conventional mattress that is getting up there in age!While many people are complaining about it taking a long time to get their product, I say this is because they have never had a custom made to order product. I have been to the shop and no they do not have products stacked up waiting to ship. They make the products as they get orders, sometimes having to get the wool and organic cotton in and then HAND making the products for each person. The workers are awesome & take great care in making your product, these are not 20minute & done production lines, these are old fashioned true American made quality products intended to last your lifetime.I recommend this product to anyone who wants a truly original organic sleep system that will provide healthy deep sleep. Wool is wool, organic cotton is cotton, maybe these characteristics are hard for modern Americans to handle but if you want a solid quality product this is it.Be patient, they are making it for you. When you get it read and follow the guidelines. You will LOVE your sleep system like no other. If you are not patient and do not want to be involved in the care of your bedding then order something out of a box or cheap mattress from a store every 3-6years. UPDATE: The response Susan is basically not the truth. Sorry to be a part of such a scandal. Id have to copy and past the entire email conversation to make the untruth of her response obvious sadly.Hi Ella,The washable wool protector pad will shrink a little when it is washed. If you would like to pack it up and ship it back, we would love to make it a little bigger for you. Sincerely,Susan McCourt, PresidentI sent it back and she has not honored her word. Again, if anything changes Ill update this review post. Lastly, they have not adjusted my order on numerous occasions btw. Two other items I ordered had issues as well and they dealt with them. It was a manufacturing issue and they did resolve it. Not my fault if it cost them shipping. Im still shocked by the post below, such a mess. Posting this cause its all I can do at this point it :(I ordered a mattress protector and it was defective. I washed it exactly according to the instructions and it shrunk so it wouldnt fit the bed anymore. I paid close to $300 for it. When I talked to Susan she said to send it back and she would make me a new one. I paid $30 to send it back to her and emailed her several times to find out what was going on with NO response. I finally received the protector back, over 2 months later. She never got back to me and sent me the same defective product with no explanation. I have left her multiple messages and sent emails and still NOTHING! Please beware of this company! Unless you want a huge a hassle and to loose money and you precious time. If she gets back to me to resolve the issue I will update this review.

I have had the Surround Ewe Signature Mattress for over 10 years and it is as wonderful as the day I placed it on my bed! I have had the ultimate topper renewed twice and it is the BEST sleep! I love sleeping on my Ultimate King Topper, wool mattress protector and medium wool pillows. Its extremely comfortable on top of our aging temperpedic mattress. Its soft and luxurious but still supportive. Im very particular about mattresses. My allergies are fine with the system. We rotate the pad every week when I change the linens as instructed. My son tried out the mattress but didnt like it so it was returned and refunded. Overall were very pleased with our purchase and the company.

Bought a queen mattress from this company over 7 years ago and it has held up well and been a good mattress, but it needs renewing as it dips where we sleep. I’m hesitant to take it for a renewal however because when we had ordered the mattress we were charged in March and the mattress didn’t arrive until June, with no communication in between. I had called and emailed to see the status but got only one rather rude response that it takes time to make these beds. That may be true but responding to an email or phone call takes only a few minutes and since the mattress had been paid for but took so long to get shipped I was starting to wonder if my money was gone with no product. Anyway, I can’t drive my mattress down to their shop and it’s cost prohibitive to ship and pay for a renewal service so we are probably going to buy a mattress from a different company.

I purchased a wool mattress based on the advertising that this product was made of 100% wool and no chemicals. The new mattress had an odor out of the wrapper. I made a complaint the next day. It was met with denial and the business owner shifted the blame to me for causing the odor.After 6 weeks I was given a replacement. This mattress was not of the same loft or consistent height of the original. It also had the same odor of the original but fainter and after sleeping on it for one night, I woke with my eyes matted.My 2nd complaint was met with similar blame shifting. My home is in a finished lower level and this was blamed for causing the odor. The owner denied that there was anything in the mattress that could cause allergies.After receiving a replacement item of lesser quality, I do not have any faith that this business owner is interested in providing any sort of warranty or customer service and would like a full refund.

Summary:I have yet to receive my order new order but my original order that is being replaced was placed at the end of May and it now the end of August. Clear communication is not this companys strong point (I hope that they read this and work to improve this area and maybe start to use email a little more). I hope my new order was made properly. If its not I will just keep it probably because I never I want the anxiety of trying so hard to communicate with these people again. If you are ordering a standard size be aware that it may be up to 3 inches smaller. Measure twice and state it twice if you want a custom size and be prepared to over communicate. Dont be afraid to repeat yourself. Will update when I receive my replacement.My Experiences:Ive made two purchases from this company and had very different experiences both times. I usually love to leave a shining review and thats what I was hoping to do but I find myself sadly leaving a cautionary one instead. My first order was a queen sized summer comforter. Ordered online and it was perfect and has worked great for year around in Los Angeles.My second order has been a disaster honestly.Ill save you all the boring details of the bad smell and arriving a few inches smaller than I had requested and the tedious over the phone communication and the not receiving call backs and the return pick up taking a week.In the end I was accused of lying about the smell (because they didnt smell any bad smell) to get a different size. This flustered and hurt me so much that I just told them to take my $100 that they insisted I owe them to fix their own mistake. I had called them to clarify such a high charge that I didnt understand. I cant afford it right now but Im desperate to end this fiasco and hopefully get something usable to me. I usually try to be extra honest with people and business and thats what I tried to do with them but I guess you have to repeatedly over communicate to this company to be heard. I dont say this bitterly. I just really hope they can improve in a few areas so they will have a business worthy of a easy 5 star review instead of one that leaves me wishing I would have spent a few more dollars to begin with and taken my business elsewhere and avoid being insulted like this.

I absolutely love the products at The Wool Bed Company! After having neck and back pain for years, I decided to invest in chemical free, organic wool bedding. It was the best decision ever! The mattress topper is like sleeping on a cloud, and I no longer wake with headaches or pain in my back and neck. When I realized how many chemicals are put into commercial mattresses to make them fire resistant, I really appreciated the natural flame retardency of the organic wool. The staff at the Wool Bed Company answered all my questions, didnt try to pressure me to buy things I didnt need, and were courteous, respectful, and timely. Cudos to them all! You wont regret any purchase you make from this great company.I am still loving my bedding from the WoolBed Company! I recently had my pillows renewed...the covering was replaced and new wool added. You will need a lot of patience ordering from wool bed company. We ordered two twin summer comforters about two weeks ago, we have not received the comforters, when we do (hopefully, some time soon) I will update this review. For now I would like to review on the customer service during the last two weeks. It was bad. First of all something went wrong with billing, it took me two days with several calls and voicemails to reach Susan and get an explanation. When we received the invoice all the information we had given was copied wrong: the billing and shipping address as well as the order was incorrect. It took me about a week including several phone calls, voicemails, reminder e-mails etcetera to receive a completely corrected invoice. Now we are waiting for the shipment, they should have shipped (and sent a track code) four days ago, but we did not receive anything. Ill be calling again tomorrow to find out whether they actually shipped our order...We are still hoping the actual product is going to be worth all the hassle, but it has definitely been a struggle ordering here.

This is worst place as far as customer service. I ordered 4 weeks ago and no merchandise. The response e-mail they can not find my address and I did not pay although they already received payment from Master Card. They do not answer their phone only messages. No follow up I am still waiting for their explanation. I would give zero stars
