Roots is great. I’m a longtime Oconomowoc resident, and they are my go-to coffee place. The atmosphere is extremely comfortable, and there’s plenty of space. It’s a great place to go to get some work done, or to meet with a small group. The staff is incredibly friendly. And of course, the coffee is excellent!

High stars for Roots and their service today! Im plant-based/vegan and nothing on the menu was completely plant-based (which Im used to!). I called to see if I could modify a menu item for my dietary preferences. The employee was incredibly helpful and didnt make me feel like a pain.I ordered the CCR Wrap without the cream cheese, subbed it for hummus, and added sweet potato and avocado. It turned out pretty good!Happy to have a place I can now enjoy a quick lunch downtown Oconomowoc, since my office is downtown as well.Thank you, Roots!

I just wanted to reach out to google and proudly say that this restaurant/coffee shop knows what they’re doing. When your coffee taste better than the leading brand Starbucks you know they’re doing great. I also wanna point out that the lady at the counter help me choose a meal that was extremely good. Delicious food, delicious coffee, and a great atmosphere. My favorites so far have been the Brie salad and root vegetable soup. Very tasty!

I always enjoy it here. The atmosphere is causal and relaxing. A great place to meet with friends or get some work done. Its a little loud for working/studying, so I recommend some headphones. The food is yummy and drinks are always delicious.

Wish they had more Gluten Free options (GF bread for the breakfast sandwiches?!), but otherwise a great place with good food and many options for coffee drinks. Wish their Iced tea Large size was actually a large. In other places it would be a medium, or smaller. Lots of seating options.

A happening place, bustling on a Tuesday morning. Had their breakfast burrito with egg, black beans, corn and sausage on a whole wheat tortilla ($7). It was yummy! They serve breakfast all day. Lots of seating, including high tables, low tables, couches and outdoors. Music is pretty loud, otherwise, it would be a good place to work online. Service was friendly and fast. Nice art. I am a faithful Roots coffee drinker, I also dont happen to live anywhere near Oconomowoc WI. I still recommend it and was happy to see it all open. The food is good too

I’ve been coming here for nearly 2 years almost every Sunday and it’s always good. The people are nice and the coffee is the best and tastes like home. It’s always clean. I would recommend it to anyone in Ocon looking for good coffee.

The staff was amazing. My wrap and salad were good. For a health food place, they had a lot of choices. I would have liked if they had egg white options on there breakfast board. But, all in all, a good experience

Yummy food, relaxing dining experience in downtown Oconomowoc. I highly recommend the Twisted Grill Cheese - its to die for! While the chili is also just as good, it was way too hot and spicy for me. Sure, I finished my bowl but I suffered with a runny nose the whole time! I love chili - but I would hesitate ordering it again due to its intense heat!

The 2 stars are for the lack of attention for how they prepare their highly overpriced food. I just cant justify paying that much for a breakfast sandwich when its literally microwaved right in front of you. Ive heard some good things about this place but clearly was lied too. Will not be back at roots coffee bar anytime soon.

There are some great things about Roots. The coffee is good, the space is atmospheric, and The Doors sandwich is tasty.Unfortunately I cannot say that it is an adequate place to work for me because the network is often impaired. Now, I am a computer scientist and have advanced knowledge of systems and networks. There have been multiple occurrences where I have purchased coffee and sat down to write code or send emails at Roots where I was unable to acquire internet access.Sadly, the employees are unable to restart the router or do anything effective in fixing the issue. Rather, when I have raised my concerns with the staff they have effectively blamed the issue on me by saying things like well, everything is fine on our end.For those technically inclined, I dual boot my laptop with two separate operating systems : Linux and Windows; I also carry an Android device with me. The fact of the matter is that I am unable to connect across all 3 operating systems - this is beyond a problem with my devices.

Stopped by today with only 5 minutes before they closed. I am scouting out a new place for coffee on Sundays with a bunch of buddies. They have a great menu which is served all day. Plenty of seating. A friendly and helpful staff. And she even had time to make me a blended latte while answering my questions. Definitely going to bring the gang in to check the place out. ☕😊👍

Wonderful fresh cinnamon rolls with a cozy warm atmosphere.

Even with the current pandemic, food and service doesnt suffer. Very customer centric staff. As for the food, we had a breakfast bagel (get it on the everything bagel) and quiche (bacon). Both tremendous. The smoothies, as always, spot on. It is really nice having a place like this so close.

From the historic brick to the cozy seating to the warm fireplaces.You dont get the service and quality coffee at coffee chains like you do at Roots. A definite stop for any coffee lover.

Cozy environment with delicious sips. ☕ Great place to sit down and chat with friends and family, plenty of space to spread out and not feel surrounded. Roots is also in a wonderful part of town and directly on the lake. PS - there is parking in back.

Excellent latte, rich hot chocolate. Sandwiches, quiches, scones and muffins also good. But whats really great is that this is one of the best places to gather in downtown Oconomowoc. They have rotating art installations, often for sale which keeps it from getting boring. Enough space for larger groups to get together. Seating varies from soft leather couches to bar height tables. Music and open mic nights on their website. Owners are wonderful people, too. Were lucky they know that spaces help bring people together, and theyve intentionally created exactly that.

The quiche I had today was delicious! I orded the quiche and asked how their system works because it was my first time there (you get a number and they bring the food out to you). As I was catching up with my friend I realized it had been about 15- 20 min since I ordered the quiche, which from what i know from other cafes all they have to do is warm it up, so I went to check on it and the woman was super nice and apologetic. I was not upset at all, just was checking to see when it would be out, mistakes happen, but they refunded my purchase without hesitation. The customer service and little things go a long way. I will definitely be back.

The atmosphere in here is so nice. I loved the local art in the walls, the chill color scheme and natural materials, and the yummy baked goods and coffee. I do wish there were more vegan options for food on the menu.

What can I say? Its probably the best cafe in all of Oconomowoc, but itll drain your wallet faster than you can know.

I met up with a couple friends here to have lunch and hang out. The food was good and fairly priced and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We would definitely consider this a spot for future meet-ups, as it’s centrally located between our three homes.

Lazy Sunday morning and looking for a new place to enjoy some coffee and breakfast. Walked in to a friendly hello from the staff while we read the menu. Excellent atmosphere! Enjoyed breakfast sandwiches and hot drinks while listening to Christmas music. Lots of spaces for a variety of activities, be it working or meeting up with friends. Coffee was warm, could have been a little hotter. Will be back for sure!

I love this place!! Great place to get a cup of coffee and walk over to the boardwalk. The coffee drinks themselves are great! The food is great as well. But I must say I have had the best muffin in my life here; Seriously so good!

So absolutely disappointed in our experience today. I have been there before and had pleasant experiences. This morning was so bad I may never go back. Forget that they got the order wrong, after waiting for over 20 minutes with only 1 person ahead of me I would have taken just about anything just to get out. The young woman who was working took the order correctly and after 15 minutes cautiously tried helping the crabby male with dark hair (maybe 28) who was making the coffee. She told him he made it wrong,,,, no response. No apology, no attempt to correct, no response at all from him. I told her not to worry about it and would take it as he made it,,, again,, no response whatsoever from him. So after waiting at least 20 - 25 minutes I finally got our drinks with only ONE person ahead of us. The atmosphere was so unpleasant because of the demeanor of the man making the drinks. Seriously, stay home and be miserable rather than bringing that attitude to the public. This can be a great little coffee shop but this man needs to leave the horrible attitude at home. Made for a miserable environment and completely unacceptable service.

My personal favorite coffee shop in Oconomowoc. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is delicious if you want to grab a quick bite will sipping on some deliciously smooth coffee.

We stopped by during the German Christmas Village and visited the cute little shop on top of the building. The view from the rooftop deck was so nice. You are able to be in the crowd without being crowded.

They have cold brewed coffee...on tap! Ive never seen that before. Its also very good! I like to pour mine over ice because its pretty strong. I only subtract a star because theres a dog food store in the back, which is unique and wonderful for dog owners, but I dont like the smell of dog food while Im sitting in Roots having my coffee.

This is an awesome place in Oconomowoc to have a cup of coffee, kick back, relax and visit with friends. There are sofas scattered around and also tables in the back in the event you need to have a more traditional meeting, or youre prone to spilling and need a flat surface. The coffee is even better than the atmosphere. You will love it.

Roots has a wonderful atmosphere punctuated by a delicious, diverse drink menu and consistently top-notch service. The menu consists of sandwiches, wraps, salads, pizza, and soups. Everything is freshly prepared, and has tasted good on every time Ive dined in. Im a fan of the unique, warm sandwiches they have on the menu including a sandwich called the Doors. This sandwich has a sweet potato on it that is quite delicious.

Stopped in for some tea/coffee with a friend and it was great. We also had pizza and that was pretty good too. I plan on going back soon!

A community center for all ages and stages of locals and visitors.Roots is very comfortable with a variety of seating options and especially good coffee and other beverages hot and cold. Roots is open daily, early a.m. until 9:00 or 10:00. Parking is usually available in a city lot or on the street. Accessible front and back doors. The owners and baristas are friendly and customer oriented. Best place in town to meet friends, customers or enjoy alone time. They are family friendly with an area for children.Be sure to enjoy the works of art displayed throughout this place.

Great coffee drinks and a cool atmosphere! Food (pizza is all Ive tried) is good, and frequent live music is a plus! They also serve alcohol (wine and beer only I believe...), so its a nice place to relax and have a couple drinks with friends.

You have to try their Ci-der. A mix of Chi tea & Apple Cider. I am in love with it!! Once in awhile when you want something different that the cup of coffee. Have one of these. Especially in the winter, its perfect! ! A+, Roots.
