Great products and service all under one roof. Friendly staff. Clean store. I was impressed with their gun and rifle selection. Also, they have a great selection of running shoes. I found great lightweight rocking chairs for my parents. I read some of the negative comments, but my experience was good and typical of sporting goods stores.

Great selection of BBQ Pits. Didnt have the one that I wanted to look at on the floor so Leah went back and wheeled it out so I could get a good look at it. It was the Pecos smoker and grill so it was pretty heavy. Thanks Leah for going the extra mile, I know it was a heavy grill to move by yourself.

Got my son a bike for his b day, pretty nice for $150. He liked it so it was all good, thanks Academy!;)

Product availability was good and checking out went quickly. Not very many people on floor to help, but I didnt need any this time.

Always great to visit this place. I found everything that I was looking for, except the Leopold scope, as a matter of fact they didnt have not even one on the shelf. I asked the very helpful and polite representative, and he said they still carry them but they are just that popular and people really buy them.

It was great except when you go to check out. There were only two cashiers available. I swear its getting just as bad as wal-mart.

I went here to look at guns and ended up leaving with one. The guy at the counter helped me through the process of changing my address online and everything to ensure I got what I wanted. I am super impressed with the staff. Definitely coming back and highly recommend this specific academy over all others.

Always enjoy a trip to academy! May want to avoid going during peak hours as you check out, you have to wait in line in a corral and that line does not move very fast.

They need to have the products in the right place with the correct price available for viewing or honor the miss placed and miss priced items especially if there is a case clearly marked with the wrong price. The Cashier wouldnt even take the time to go check the price on the shelf.. Very disappointed and will be considering this experience the next time I decide go shopping.

From parking lot to the back of the store, everything was clean. We found a “hard to find” item and bought it. The peeps were friendly and I really enjoyed the experience.

I gotta say I was pretty upset about the line in the store when I went to check out, but it went by so fast I couldnt even get mad. I think some grocery stores should watch how these guys move traffic through their stores.

Very upset. I had ordered some pants online to pick up in store, and I never received an email that it was ready for pick up. So I looked online the next day, and what I had ordered, was sold out. I had called Academy, and asked if my order was ready, she said yes that it was ready for pick up. I go inside, and they told me my order was out of stock, and never had it ready. My order was supposed to take up to 2 hours to be ready, and they didnt even have it ready the next day. I paid for something that they sold to someone else. And I asked if my money was going to be back on my card, and the elderly manager I guess, she told me very rudely, it will take time. Well I hope so. Because I waited for my pants, I didnt get them, and Im waiting for my money now. I hope I do receive my money back, because I DID NOT RECEIVE WHAT I PAID FOR!

Very friendly staff, they had what I wanted. They loaded the cart and loaded it into my truck.

I havent shopped much the last few years but I was disappointed at how expensive things have gotten and even the clearance racks that were everywhere were still almost full price! Still had a very nice selection of great looking items.

To have a mask mandate and not be enforced is like having seatbelt laws and holding your seat belt while driving instead of just locking it in properly. There was a woman at the door with masks and hand sanitizer for those who dont walk in with one yet the woman and children that walked in before we did did not have their masks on and the door monitor just said hello to all of us and didnt ask about needing a mask. Whats the point on paying an employee to stand at a door and do nothing but play on thier phone all day.

Theyre curbside pick up absolutely needs improvement. Called several times on different days to let them know I was there for pk up, theyd answer and hang up.Every single time. So frustrating!Dont offer service if you cannot meet the needs, simple.

There was noone around when I was looking for help in the shoe department

The men in the gun department are rude. I waited in line and these other men just kept walking up to counter getting help. They never acknowledged me so when I asked if someone could help, one guy said anyone can help. He said it rudely. So asked about bullets and he rudely said they’re over there and pointed. Never could get any help by the three men behind counter. Guess maybe it’s because I’m a girl because they were helping all the men.

Ok place to shop but if your looking for customer service, head over to Midland Store instead. Went in looking for a bicycle tire. Asked four different employees if they can check the back area that is not accessible to customers. They told me whats on the shelf is what they got. Went to Midland store and asked one person the same thing. He went in the back and checked. Guess what, they had tires. Way to go Midland Store.... Made my little girl look at me like I was a superhero. Thank you for that......

The place is great overall. I like their selection of sports clothing. One star because of One thing though:So I was checking out and the lady cashier asked me “would you like 15% off your purchase today?” I said sure, I was thinking that I would sign up for an email subscription or something where I would get a discount through that. So I gave my information, paid for my stuff and left. Only to find that apparently I signed up for a credit card. The cashier lady never told me it was a credit card Cause if she did, I would have never signed up for it. It makes me feel that she didn’t tell me it was a credit card for a reason. Maybe she wanted to have people sign up so her managers would think she’s doing good? And after my sign up she never gave me anything that would let me know that it was a credit card i signed up for (like a booklet explaining my credit options that apparently I was suppose to get). I wish the cashier lady would specify that it’s a credit card because I had no idea. Now I have been calling 5 different numbers to try and dispute the application. Called the bank associated with academy only to find that I’m not even on their system but on my Experian app it clearly states that the bank made a hard Inquiry about my score.It’s just unprofessional of the cashier lady and it deeply reflects on the business itself. I have to deal with the hassle of the dispute and phone calls. I would ask that next time they make sure to clearly state it’s a credit card. Cause it may be obvious to them but to some of the customers, it’s not obvious at all. Plus let’s not mention how illegal it was what the cashier lady did.

I used to enjoy shopping there. The staff is incredibly rude. I felt so uncomfortable. After I paid I just stood there waiting for the cashier to hand my bag from behind the counter and she just walked off talking to another employee. Finally I asked another cashier if I could have my bag. I thought I picked out shoes that were on sale and when they rang up the regular price I asked about it. The cashier called back to check with a lady that worked back in shoes. The lady that came up was so abrasive. Easy mistake for anyone to make, I wasnt mad about the price or argumentative. Just a simple question. Not a big deal. I will never step foot in there again. Definitely will shop the Midland store.

Came here to buy a fire arm and the guys at the counter were great to deal with. Cant remember their names but they were knowledgeable and friendly. Process was pretty quick and I was able get the express check out which was nice cause there was a huge line that evening.

It was alright, I got there before it got busy. They still herd you through there like cattle so if thats not a problem, then youre good to go.

I would like to say that l am handicap & you need more then one handicap cart in your store so people dont have to wait on that one handicap cart you have for & hour or more just on that one cart not satisfied in that department...so l hope you take that into consideration

Eventually found what I needed at a price that was more than I expected. But, honestly it has been a long time since I shopped for a sleeping bag and dont know the current market. But man, the customer service. Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. Grudging. Not accurate. Sulky. Making it clear my presence asking for help was a seriously unwelcome imposition. Abrupt and right on the edge of rude. Moved me to beginning to ask for a manager but, at last moment decided no, pay for my item, get out of there and never go back.

Went good until when we were leaving the guy at the door since starting Sunday we have to wear a mask that means I cant shop there no more I dont wear masks if the mass work we wouldnt have to stay six foot apart

The Manger of the hunting/firearm section - Frank . Was very unprofessional & rude . I called to transfer a firearm to a Houston, Tx location to only be declined . It was the only one available in the state of Texas . With no explanation he said because “he didn’t want to”

I went into the store, asked someone for assistance. She led me directly to the display (across the store), a helpful young man assisted me in purchasing the exact item I came into the store to purchase. Great attitude and consideration. Thank you.

This Academy seems to be better stocked then the store in Midland. I liked the fact that they had enough cashiers available to handle the amount of traffic that was present. Nobody likes waiting in line.

Absolutely horrible service!!! Been waiting on someone for 45 minutes to show up in hunting to help out with tripod and nothing. Talked with 4 separate sales associates and they all told me they can’t get ahold of person in that area.

How can this place not have working face masks in winter they are always out of stock and Ive gone there for 3 weeks now looking. Just order a big bulk and keep extra in the back. I finally was able to get the long johns after 3 weeks of waiting.

Had a very horrible experience at academy today, experiencing very rude costumer service . Asked at least two people for help and continued to keep walking and rolled eyes at my family took my business to dick’s sporting good and will NEVER shop at academy ever again.

If your looking for Nike clothing this is the place unless you go online, I rather try it on before buying when possible

Academy odessa your gun department service is is terriblei stood there in bright red coveralls watchin ple walk up n get service.i finally got service n told him i would like to purchase the firearm. as he walked to the register he showed a shotgun. Helped the man fill out paperwork n told me as soon as he got him finished he would start on mine... no sir i think i hv been ignored enough for 1 day and i will make my purchase somewhere else.

Limited selection, better for children equipment and shoes. Grill selection is great. Staff is fairly helpful.

Decent inventory, no sales associates on the floor. The cashiers do their best to get you on their way. They get 5 Stars. Ill go to the Midland store next time.

Alittle bit of everything

Horrible customer service! I asked two associates for help on a grill that was stocked on the top shelf and they simply replied with “yeah”. Waited around getting accessories and help never arrived. Decided to go to Lowe’s and I ended up getting a better grill for a lower price! Go to the Midland store instead.
