Tried to get a watch battery replaced, guy took my watch to the side to try to open it. Couldnt get it open, told me to go to another jeweler next door. Get it to the other jeweler, and he notices a huge scratch on the back from Kay trying to open it. Not an insanely nice watch, but a damaged watch now nonetheless. Be wary of taking nicer difficult-to-open watches here.

I went to Kay Jewelers to find an inexpensive wedding band for my fiancee. We did not want anything flashy or ornate, but the associate there, Seth, convinced us otherwise. He had a beautiful band that complemented her ring perfectly. He was well informed about the products and he spent a lot of time with us even though we were looking for something on the inexpensive side. He also gave me several non-jewelry recommendations like, where to find an inexpensive suit. I typically avoid large chain stores for jewelry, but this experience was refreshing. I would definitely stop back again. Thanks Seth and Kay Jewelers!

My fiance and I went in recently to purchase engagement rings. We couldnt afford anything really fancy and were on a strict budget. A very nice saleswoman understood our situation and helped us find two rings that were perfect and within our range. I asked for a ring re-sizer because my ring was too big. She said that Kays carried a cheap alternative to sending the ring in for a week to be re-sized. Her boss went in the back and within minutes, produced a ring that fit my fingers better. I was too excited to really examine the ring. Once I got back to my house, I took my ring off and looked at it to find deep gouges in it. They had tightened the metal bracket used for re-sizing, too tightly. Now there are four indentations in my brand new ring. It was the only ring my fiance could afford and they damaged it before I could wear it.. I almost cried when I seen it.

I went 5 years without wearing my wedding band because it shrunk. Took it into the store where they were able to stretch it to fit in less than 10 minutes. Free of charge. Also took my wifes wedding ring in to be re-fitted, replace a lost diamond, and have some other repairs done. I purchased that ring 21 years ago, and they honored the warranty no questions asked. Top notch customer service!

I would never shop anywhere else for jewelry. The staff is very friendly, funny, and helpful. I have bought my mens Leo Diamond Ring, Movado watch, and a silver chain here. They have always found me good deals, and have great sales. They do not make you feel pressured to purchase anything and I have always felt comfortable with them. Two thumbs up. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a ring, watch or any other jewelry. After reading the other reviews, I dont believe that you understood the policy. I have personally done the double trade-in program and they do give you full value for your KAY ring. As for the scratches on your ring... If you have an ESP, then it has a guarantee. (Also, I believe if its a yellow gold, and not a white gold... it can be buffed right in the store. White gold cannot because of the Rhodium on the ring).

Took my wedding ring to the 6 month inspection just like I do every 6 months and found out it had a loose stone. They sent it in to the repair shop, when I picked it up the stone was loose in the bag so they had to send it back again. The second time I went to pick it up the head of the ring was bent at a drastic angle. They sent it back. At this point I called Corporate and my representative called me back a day later to say that the repair shop maintains that the ring has always been bent like that, it was a design flaw. Basically calling me a liar after they broke my wedding rings. She then informed me that it was in such disrepair now that it could not be fixed, so I could keep my old one or they could replace it.They do not care about your memories. I will never see my wedding ring again because of their repair shop.I am heartbroken. Do not let this happen to you.

Bought 2 wedding rings, one for myself and one for my husband. My husbands band has literally fallen apart twice in two years, no fault of our own. It took them two weeks the first time and now over one month (we still dont have it) to replace the second time. They told us we couldnt choose another ring to replace it with until it happens a third time.We bought the lifetime warranty on my ring and have had 3 diamonds fall out in two years. They kept the ring 6 months while doing one of the replacements, telling me they have to send it to China to get it fixed.I asked if I could just give them back the ring with diamonds and trade for a plain old band, so I dont have to waste anymore of my life dealing with Kay Jewelers and they told me no. Even though they could sell the ring with diamonds for 5-7 times what a plain band costs. This place makes poor jewelry and has even poorer customer service policies. Will never, shop at Kay Jewelers or their affiliates again.Keep in mind, I have a diamond ring that belonged to my Great Grandmother, and so has been worn for over 40 years, no stone has ever fallen out of it.

Beware! My son went to Kay Jewelers for a watch repair. They asked for his ID and social security number. He questioned the request for his social security number for a watch repair and refused to provide it. He later received notice in the mail that he had applied for a Kay Jewelers credit account. The credit application was processed without his knowledge or permission. Miscommunication or something shady going on? Beware if you choose to do business with Kay Jewelers at Meridian Mall.

This is more of a review of Kay Jewelers as a whole as the ladies in the mall were actually very nice and friendly to me. Anyways, brought my necklace in to have the chain repaired, waited 10 days to have it fixed (something that has taken 2 hours at other jewelers in the past), got it back, put it on, and the chain broke again in the exact same spot.I dont live near a Kays and was visiting so now I cant do anything about it. Called corporate asked what they were going to do about their mistake and they told me I would have to bring it back in for a repair again....UMMM I ALREADY DID THAT AND YOU DID A TERRIBLE JOB! Wouldnt buy jewelry at Kays again.

My experience was terrible. I talked to two different people two different times and they are so unprofessional. I turned in my ring to have it sized, went back a week later to check on it, and they didnt even write what size I needed down. The lady just kept telling me youre just stressed hunny or if its too small just put lotion on your hands to slide it on I would go to the one in east town-much better.

I have never written a review before, but my fiance and I experience at this store has forced my hand. This is the first place we went to together looking for rings, but we wanted to take our time and make an informed decision. At first everyone seemed nice, but as time went on we felt extremely pressured by the workers to the point of annoyance. They never left us alone so we could talk privately about our opinions on the rings. After, all the other ring places we shopped at their workers were a lot less pressuring and we felt more comfortable such as Zales, Azzi, and Medawar. Still, a ring caught our eye so we ordered it to her size and with a bigger diamond to see how we liked it. In order to do this I gave them all my contact information. I got a call a little bit later saying it was ready. We went back and had to give them my drivers license so my fiance could try on the sized ring. After trying it on we decided that we preferred other rings we had found. The workers made it challenging to leave, they persisted on making another appointment even though we implied we werent interested. The situation was very uncomfortable and in our rush to get away we did not realize that the workers never returned my drivers license. A week later we decided on our ring and that is when I realized my license was missing. I thought Kay couldnt have had it since they had my contact information and thought they would call me once they knew they didnt give it back to me. Wrong! But I called Kay and they did have it the whole time and never thought to contact me. I went to pick the ID up a couple days later and the worker couldnt find it so they said they would mail it...five days and counting and I still havent received it. My fiance and I have been frustrated and disappointed in their service and would not recommend doing business with this store.

I had the WORST customer service experience in my ENTIRE life over and over again at a Kay Jewelers location in Okemos, MI. I brought in my engagement ring to get it resized. It was a cheaper ring, I knew.. But it was given to me by the love of my life and I knew it was what we could afford within reason given our situation. An opal was in the center. The first man I talked to to get it resized undeniably and shamelessly scoffed at me when I told him it was my engagement ring and asked me again if it was really my engagement ring. He then asked me how much it cost and i told him i didnt know because i didnt buy it. He then gave me an attitude and said that he would put the estimate at $200.It would take 2 weeks for it to come in. I was annoyed and rather insulted but waited til the day it was supposed to come in. On that day I called ahead of time to see if it was there. The woman told me she would call me back. When she did she told me that they broke my opal and word didnt get to them on tso (i also work in customer service) and that I knew it wasnt her fault but that I was EXTREMELY disappointed because that was my engagement ring. She also scoffed at me in disbelief and asked me really? then proceeded to tell me that it was going to eventually break anyways because it is a soft stone. I told her that she was misaing the point because if I were to break it it would be because of my doing and not theirs. She told me it would be replaced and that I would have to wait for them to call me when it comes in. At that point I had a breakdown when I got off the phone. I cried in anger in feeling so helpless and couldnt believe that I was insulted yet another time over the same ring that meant everything to me. When I could get the ring I had to bring our children in there and puck it up. I talked to the same woman and a different man. The woman tried to defend herself against how rude she was on the phone and not once apologized but told me that she would have her manager get ahold of me. The man i talked to was sincere and apologetic to me which was nice. That was about a month ago. Since then my opal setting was wrong and it fell out (thankfully) at my work so we found it. I never got a call back from the manager. Since then I am fearful of going back in there because Im afraid of the way I will be treated there. I know that not all stores function in this manner. I am hoping that someone in Kay jewers will reach out to me and make this right again. I am still so upset. And am not wearing my engagement ring because of this.

Would give a negative number if possible! THEY LOST MY DIAMOND!I started a custom ring with JB Robinson Meridian Mall 9 months ago. 4 months in designer not understanding my vision the store is gone and Im notified by Kay they are now handling it. I restart on a new design, I continually fell though the cracks, management kept turning over, I ended up contacting customer services to be a go between as Kay associates not friendly. I decided to stop the process and again took longer than told to get my ring back, I had to contact customer service to look into it, 5 hours later its told to me that they received my ring but LOST MY DIAMOND! I believe they may have switched my diamond with a fake like recent media attention has told and because I brought this fear to their attention they stated it was lost.I will never recommend KAY jewelers!

My experience with Kays @ the Okemos location customizing a ring was a joke. First, they quoted me $1300 and charged my fiancé 2100. The design was hand drawn and shipped to Saginaw where i waited 4 weeks for a computerized image. I called for status and was told to come on in because they have had the image for weeks but I never received a call. It looked nothing like the design i created with the woman I had been working with. I was visibly upset and she told me to get on Pinterest and send her some ideas. (As if we hadnt drawn the exact design I wanted together and showed her the exact look with multiple examples in the store?) We made changes to the ring, waited another 2 weeks and the ring was still not what I asked for. I then made changes with the manager who was very helpful so I was hopeful things were being taken care of. Two weeks later, my fiancé received a call that my mold was in. I never gave the okay for a mold to be made because changes were still being made. They created a mold for the ring designed 2 weeks prior before applying the changes that I made to it. I decided to pull my rings back 2 months in and will be taking my business else where. The staff was unprofessional, unorganized and unsympathetic throughout the entire process. The manager was working when i picked up my rings and never once asked why I was pulling my business or apologized for my experience. When I asked for my fiancé to be refunded his down payment, she said she would contact customer service and contact me asap. Two weeks later and I still have not heard from her. I contacted sales myself and my fiancé will be refunded.I just returned from Wheat Jewelers in Okemos who provided amazing customer service and designed my ring on a computer right before my eyes. The ring is made at their location and only takes 2 weeks for the final product.

I dont think they understand the idea of a promise date. First, the ring was two weeks late after being custom ordered resulting in my fiances first proposal idea to be ruined. Now, after only four weeks or having the ring a diamond falls out. They stated it would be ready in 2 weeks (March 15) then, they said the 17th, then when I called on the 18th (after they said they would call me the 17th no matter what) and they said it was there. I drove in, it wasnt there. Their jeweler shipped it back unrepaired. Then they said it would be back by the 23rd, no call. I called the 24th and my new promise date is the 29th. If you want a jeweler that cares, go somewhere else.
