Wow. Kevin did an amazing job for my wife and I! He went above and beyond for us to create something beautiful and sentimental. My wife and I met overseas as English teachers in China. Most of our wedding preparations were from overseas. Kevin was patient with us as we communicated with him via email and video chat (China is 12 hours ahead of the US!). My wifes engagement ring and wedding band are very sentimental. The center stone is my mothers stone from her ring and the stones in the wedding band are from my wifes grandmas ring. He was also able to melt down the metal from my wifes grandmas ring and put it into hers. In addition, I had Kevin make a pendant necklace by using the center stone of her grandmas ring as a gift on our wedding day. I dont typically leave reviews however, all my experiences with Wheat Jewelers have been excellent since I first found them on Grand River in 2003 when I purchased a hearts on fire diamond and creative setting to pop the big question. It sparkled like crazy and was the most creative ring I had seen. After 13 years the soldering on my wedding ring broke. I didnt want to drive the hour to Okemos but my ring was purchased at, and has only ever been worked on at Wheat Jewelers so I didnt want to try a local place. I haven’t worn my MSU class ring since 95 and needless to say, I’m not the same ring size I was! I was told I had to have the ring destroyed and remade but it’s a momento and I couldn’t do that. Wheat Jewelers has always been my first stop for any jewelry repair. Mike is not just a Master Jeweler, he is so much more as a human being. I would like to describe my last encounter. A year ago I bought in Sedona a pair of earrings. They were very special to me since I purchased then when I was there for a healing retreat after my son passed away. About two weeks ago I lost one of the earrings. I searched at home, in the office, and eventually started to look in the parking lot in front of my MSU office. Under a car, where I was parked the night before, something sparkled. I knelt down and reached for it and it was the earring, unfortunately flattened since who know how many cars ran over it. Not only does Wheat Jewelers have the best selection in the state of Michigan for engagement rings they have an excellent repair department. My brother was in from Chicago and we stopped by Wheats and they were able to cut off his ring which was too small and remake it to the proper size while he waited. His wifes ring was also broken at the shank and they were able to repair that also while we waited. Mike Andrews is an awesome designer and goldsmith. while we were there, they showed us their complete design facility that includes a cad system, that can design custom jewelry, then they do a wax mold so you can see what it is going to look like and then make your changes if necessary before doing the final piece. Kevin Wheat was very personable and willing to take the time with us even though we werent interested in buying a custom piece at this time. I would recommend Wheat Jewelers both for the purchasing and repair of any jewelry you may be considering. There engagement selection and pricing is the best. We wanted to take the diamonds and the silver from the band and have it recreated into an engagement ring that is mine, but uses my grandmothers diamonds. I was apprehensive to take the ring anywhere and let someone work on it since its such an heirloom piece. From the minute we walked into Wheats, I was absolutely comfortable with them. Kevin Wheat, the owner, came out and talked to us and never did I feel like he was trying to sell us something we didnt want or upcharge us or anything the like that. The man is a designer! He immediately won my engineer-Fiance over when he took us into his office and started drawing up designs on Auto Cad. The best, and most reassuring, part was that we were able to see a wax model of the ring before he melted it down and recreated it. Everything was timely and professional, and I wouldnt change a thing about our experience with Wheats. We will absolutely be going back for my fiances wedding band and also to have Kevin create my wedding band from my others grandmothers diamonds. Dont shop for fine jewelry anywhere else!

Couldnt be more pleased with Wheat Jewelers. My fiancé bought my engagement ring there when we lived in Okemos, then we traveled back to the area (2 hours away) when it recently came time to purchase a wedding band. I decided I didnt want a separate band, so Kevin helped to design a more intricate version of my current ring. He over-nighted it to me when it was completed so I didnt have to make the drive again. Everyone is so personable and the customer service is unbeatable - plus you get a family feel unlike at chain jewelry stores. Highly recommend!

I took my engagement ring to be rhodium plated and cleaned to another jeweler for my wedding in 4 days. When I got it back it had grayish black splotches all over the band, and was super dull. Way worse than what it looked like when I brought it in. I obviously panicked and took my ring to Wheat to get fixed . The jeweler was so great! I told him what happened and he fixed it for me in 15 minutes and now my ring looks gorgeous! The way it should! And he did it for free because Im assuming he could see how heart broken I was. He really helped this bride avoid having a meltdown so soon to the wedding. So thankful for their great customer service!!

Wheat Jewelers is a very good place to do business. One of their managers, Archie Willoughby II actually suggested a lower price on the purchase of an engagement ring from Wheat. Although it would net Wheat lower money in the short term, the manager has earned my appreciation, respect, and loyalty as a customer for much longer than that.Constantly travelling for business, Mr. Willoughby took the time to move through the process with me, waited as I called him back repeatedly, and patiently waited for me to make the necessary transactions in my own time.
