The city of Orange is like a blast from the past. The main street, in the words of my friend, looks like it is straight out of that Disney movie, Cars. Passing the vintage clothing stores and classic car museum, you walk to the doors of the culinary school. Creatively disguised as a kitchen showroom up front, you walk back and check in before getting back to the kitchen area.I kind of expected Gordon Ramsay to come busting in the door, yelling at me for not properly tying my apron on, and spitting in my eyes in the process. Instead, Diana took her place at the cook top and sink and told us about her traditional Mexican heritage (along with her having a Czech father) and about her career as a chef. Her experience was as impressive as her ability to multitask, and she kept the kitchen running smooth the whole night. The recipes? Simple enough. The Food? Delicious. The experience? Worth it. If you want to know how to crank out street tacos like a pro, Diana is the chef to teach you. Thanks for a fun night, great teaching, and tasty food!
What a fun way to spend a few hours. We took the All Desserts class—made peach cobbler, chocolate soufflé, creme brûlée, churros, and Japanese cheesecake. All the ingredients are already pre-measured and ready to go. Quincy was our chef, and he was wonderful. Clear instructions, great sense of humor, delicious recipes. And Miles was a great assistant. The two of them worked really hard and yet made it look easy.Highly recommend the classes if you’re looking for a few hours of entertainment and a great meal (or, in our case, a great assortment of desserts).
Outstanding experience, will do it again soon.
Wonderful experience! Loved learning the cooking tips & being able to cook a delicious meal.
Took a class on making holiday cookies. It was a very fun, hands on class. The Chef was very helpful. I learned a few things today. This class is a must if you love baking and being entertained! They have a wide variety of cooking classes. I would definitely recommend.
Chef Quincy can help anyone learn how to cook – he got my husband to cook! From tamales and paella to mocha crème brûlée, it seems that there is nothing that Quincy can’t prepare. He has amazing tips, including hidden gems, like where to buy specialty ingredients and welcomes all culinary-related questions. I’ve never had so much fun cooking. The classes at Le Gourmet Culinary are well-organized, include tasteful menu selections and are a blast. During Covid-19, masks and social distancing protocols have been followed. I’d recommend Quincy’s classes to those who want to enjoy mastering cooking in a relaxed environment with a talented chef.
Le Gourmet is so much fun and such a great experience. I had taken classes at their cooking studio and now they are offering classes online! So far I have taken the macaron class, Spanish paella, and a french class with my husband. I have made so much delicious food and everything always come out great. I think its a great value and the food is delivered to your door. Chet Quincy & Chef Tracey have both been awesome. they are committed to making sure you have and awesome experience online!
What a culinary experience!! The class was in a private setting. Very informative and professional.
I took the Macaroon Class here with a friend and absolutely loved it!!! They teach you step by step and even secret techniques to make your macaroons perfect! The staff is friendly and very helpful and the best part is you dont have to do dishes just enjoy and that is their #1 policy! Chef Eda the owner is very sweet and puts her heart into it all! At the end of the class you get a photo of everything you made as well as getting to take a tray full home to eat! I Highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys cooking or just wants to learn!
Class started late. Instructor had never taught the class before, kept asking class to read him the recipe. Class was glacially slow and the instructor did not have the correct ingredients for the poorly-written recipe. Found a moth in our nuts after tossing it into our dish. Instructor coughed into his hand and carried on without washing... disgusting! Way below expectations.
My husband and I had the most fun at the macaroon-making class! You get to make them using the French technique and get to take a box home. It was a small class (12 of us) and they served Lunch while the macaroons were baking. Will definitely be back with some friends of mine!
We took the Sushi Class for 2! Technically, A Night in Japan, but we made 3 different sushi rolls with Chef Diana, and then some mango creme brulee to add for dessert. All in all, a fantastic experience. Was tons of fun for the three hours we were there, and that time really flew by. Learning how to make sushi is truly an easy technique, but Im glad that we had the class the first time making it. Would totally take another class at Le Gourmet, definitely scour Groupon for their next great deal!
Booked a class, they ended up cancelling before saying not enough people booked. said they would refund my money, never did. Called multiple times, had to dispute the charges through my CC company
Super fun and educational French cooking class with chef Dominique Fournier. Good portion meals. Dont be late!
Took the macarons baking class this past Sunday. It was a fun experience. Chef D was great & funny and the macarons were delish 😋. Ill take other classes in the near future! The pasta and salad served while waiting for the macarons to bake were sumptuous treats.
On 04/21/2018 My Wife and Daughter attended the Sushi making class. They came home saying disappointed with the class that the sushi rice (One of the core competencies and aspects of a sushi making class) was overcooked and the dessert portion of the class was rushed which resulted in a less than satisfying result. To our delight, Diana promised a make-up class for the experience. We rebooked another cooking class on July 7th. However, on that day, my wife called me from the location and the doors were locked.I called Diana and she responded with Oh I forgot about that class. She then offered another make-up class in addition to crediting my account for another free class for the mishap. After checking my account several times, I could not find the credit on my account, over the timespan of about 2-3 weeks, I textd Diana multiple times after her agreed deadlines for the adjustment. Then she began getting irritated and said she could not take the constant texts. I have all the transcripts which I may upload later on if needed as proof. (I only contacted her when the credits were still not showing after the promised dates/times)I confirmed with Diana that my Wife and Daughter was enrolled on the August 4th class and which she responded with an affirmative YES. (Have screenshots too) And guess what happend on August 4th? I got a call from my wife saying the doors were locked and no one was there AGAIN. (Its about an hour drive each way)I called Diana and she responded with that the class was cancelled because not enough people signed up. When I asked why werent we notified, she responded with You should of called to confirm it was still going on...I was so frustrated with this entire fiasco, I opted for a refund. Diana then went into questioning why we deserved a makeup class in the first place. She said she checked the video cameras of the first class and if the Sushi rice was inedible why did my daughter eat it all? (My Daughter is 9 and she mentioned it hurt her stomach after, and my wife told me it they did NOT eat it all, regardless of the fact, this is a very poor customer interaction, look at the business responses to other Yelpers that posted a low review, they are VERY confrontational.) Diana also mentioned that the chef has been all over the world and knew what they were doing, so it couldnt of been their fault. After some conversation, she finally agreed to refund the amount. She then said she needed to be at a computer, and there was a personal issue (I wont share that here) so she will need to do it later. I agreed to let her take care of her personal issue, but requested a deadline in writing (via text) because I knew from experience the lack of follow through. She confirmed via text that the refund would be by Sunday night. On Sunday night, instead of a refund, I got an text from Diana stating to send all further correspondence and questions to an email address. I sent an email and called the phone number, but as with MANY other users on this website, you can see they wont respond, and didnt...I am still awaiting for their call/text/email/or refund.... I will update if anything changes.Just FYI, if you post a bad review, they will try to contact you and try to get you to remove it. Even then, you can see there are still many bad experiences on this business.
We found an offer for a cooking class on Groupon and it led us to Le Gourmet. The selection of classes was OK (many macaroon classes) and we chose to do a night in France. Over the course of the 3 hour class, we made French onion soup, citrus avocado salad, beef bourguignon, and crème brûlée. You come as a couple but work with another couple (teams of 4) to make the fish and prevent there from being too many cooks in the kitchen. Our instructor was an authentic (i.e. from France) French chef with a great personality and gave many great tips on basic kitchen techniques. Once everything was prepped, we were served dinner in a separate room. All of the food was delicious, easily beating anything Ive ever ordered at a restaurant. Definitely a great idea for a date night, albeit an expensive one ($100/person). They do give you all the recipes though!
