One of the few Mexican stores in Ottumwa sits in a large lot on the corner of Church St next to the river. I have been there twice. Obviously its a traditional family business in operation for many years. There are some isles and you can get familiar with the store after a few visits. They have some sleeping area on the back, which is easy to notice because owners havent bother to build some panels that offer them necessary privacy. Parking is on the back and next to it you find a fast food restaurant. They have traditional Hispanic food and supplies, the service is correct, family members take turns to attend the store. I have found there piloncillo.
Been here a few times now. The quality of their produce is INCREDIBLE. Also able to get a much better variety of dried peppers and spices here than any of the bigger stores in town, so if you enjoy cooking dont overlook this place.
I really enjoy the hospitality each time I visit this store. I dont speak Spanish very well, but my wife usually takes over when needed. But very good prices on food and drinks.
There is more or less the store.
Its nice to have a Carniceria close by. Sometimes I miss the little things that a big city has to offer and being from Phoenix AZ living in northern Missouri its well worth the 45 min drive to get a taste of home
