Been there a few times. The dinners are huge and flavorful. Dinner includes soup, salad, warm bread, and a cold or hot drink. They have a nice selection of in house baked pastries and offer fresh fruit cup. Get there before the 6pm rush.
Excellent diner! Great management and staff. We love the meatloaf, soups, fried chicken, hamburgers and desserts. Their food is fresh! I dont know how they do it but their steamed mixed vegetables are perfectly cooked and not mushy. Really delicious.Its very inviting every time we come because its a clean and an attractive atmosphere.Their dessert case is amazing, better than most other diners because everything looks so fresh. Not one dessert looks like its sweating with condensation or has a white coating from sitting around.They take great pride here. Been coming here for many years, at least 13.Even their takeout/ leftover containers are of superior quality. Funny how a small thing like that is noticeable but it is and it is appreciated. They open and close really well without a struggle and dont leak!Nice and friendly wait staff. They dont rush you at all.Bathrooms are clean, which is a great sign of how they care about patrons!
Went to lunch with my husband support group. We split an omelet. Food was good but the prices went up because of Covid-19. Food was delicious.
Update. Things have gone downhill in 2021. Service is really slow and it takes too long for your order to come out. I have to believe that this is because of the labor shortage, so Ill go back for another try in 2022.The quality of the food is as good as it was pre-pandemic. Just not enough employees.

Stopped by the Suburban Diner for dinner with my daughter on Thursday June 3rd, 21. I ordered the vegetable salad with grilled salmon perfectly seasoned. Delicious great portion vinaigrette dressing. Loved it. My daughter ordered hot wings with fries well-presented and very tasty. We dined in, felt so great to be out again, in pleasant atmosphere.I order Penne Vodka to go for my sweetheart, he likes pasta. Huge portion and tasted excellent. Service was great too. No room for dessert.Took my leffover salad home, had it for lunch today.
Great little diner! We were seated and served very quickly and the food was well priced, very generous, and delicious! Will definitely be back if Im in the area at breakfast time.
The diner of your dreams! Great food, large portions, realistic, fair and reasonable prices, wonderful service and we havent had a diner like this in Manhattan in eons. Only thing missing from the large menu is roast pork on garlic bread. Otherwise, fab food in diner heaven !

We used to be customers at Heritage Dinner in Hackensack. First time visiting Suburban Dinner today. We had a great experience, the food was great and the service excellent.I was so happy to see my old friend Eileen. Looking forward to visit again soon.

The service was ok, but the food came out in small portions. A cheeseburger deluxe came with exactly (9) nine french fries and very over cooked. I was hoping the desserts that we ordered would make up for the poor food. However, the desserts came in individual portions and even though they looked really pretty there was no flavor to them or even being on the sweet side. We ordered six different desserts and none of them had any real flavor to match their appearance. Even the strawberry was tasteless. What shocked me most was that they charged 3% to the entire bill for using a credit card. That was the final nail in the coffin I will never come back there again and neither should you.

I must say, this place was awesome to eat at!!! The food was great and the service was also great!!! The set up inside and outside looks really good, the tables feel nice and the ambience is a pleasent one. Would highly recommend! Also... I would recommend the desserts!!! Best diner in not only New Jersey but in the US. My boyfriend and I try to go there once a week. The stir fry meals are amazing and recently, July 4 weekend, we just felt like burgers because we smelled our neighbors barbecuing and Suburban makes the best burgers and onion rings. Theres always enough food to take some home. I was given two gift cards to this place recently just because I got some people vaccines when it was hard to get them and the prices are decent enough that I still have left over on one of the gift cards after being there twice. Waitresses, waiters, and cashiers and all the people are generally nice and the food is absolutely delicious. The manager is obviously doing something right because Ive never had a meal there that wasnt fantastic. I have a diner closer to my house that my friend used to always go to and I told her about the Suburban and now she said shes so spoiled she has to drive to the Suburban as well. And she only lives 3 blocks from the other diner. Ive ordered some weird things like a fried chicken sandwich with sliced avocado on it and bacon, that were not on the menu and they made them for me.
Good food after a rainy Sunday. Service was great. She was able to get a nice veggie omelette despite it being nearly 5 pm. And I had a superbly simple but tasty chicken sandwich with onions and peppers.Dessert was a strawberry-topped cheesecake that we shared.Server was so polite and helpful, and very attentive.
Oct 2019Extensive menu and great service. The free coleslaw and pickles were outstanding. The coleslaw had a perfect texture and creaminess. The corned beef and pastrami sandwich was absolutely superb! Excellent cuts of meat. The crunchy onion rings and side salad were also outstanding. We ended our meal with the rice pudding and it was creamy, sweet, and delightful. One of the best diner experiences Ive had in a while, and even the bathroom was extremely clean. I wish this was around my way in PA, as I was just passing through.
Half the items don’t have a price on the menu. Foods not good enough to justify the absolutely exorbitant price. The server was good though.
The waiter made subtle jokes that lightened the mood, such as, “I better not see anything on the table” as we’ve finished up our starters and he was handing our main dishes one person at a time. I really appreciated his diligence and his slight nervousness of carrying off our empty dishes made it even better because it showed we were all human and just having a great time! Thank you for the wonderful experience! It was a wonderful first visit here as well!

Food was disappointing, and all I ordered was a cheeseburger deluxe. Waiter was rude, he obviously did not want to serve me. Table and seat was dirty and smelly. I left a 5.00 tip only because my son was with me and he gets embarrassed easily, but definitely this place needs improving. I think covid killed everything including good service, plus Im Asian, so...it was a thumbs down for me.

First time visitor. Diner is pretty big and very nice decor. Looked very inviting right off the bat. Best split pea soup Ive ever had. Tremendous. Fries were fresh, delicious, and plentiful. I got the Buffalo Burger. it was pretty good. I cant say great because i wouldve preferred more Buffalo sauce on a Buffalo burger. the most prevalent flavor was the bleu cheese, which was pleasant, but i just wanted more Buffalo sauce. Dont be shy with it. If someone orders Buffalo, make em feel it :)....waitress was also terrific and attentive and an overall delight. im leaving 4 stars but really id leave 4.5 stars if i could. Excellent job.

I wanted dessert, my friends wanted dinner and we got some great time. We stopped by several other places if and they were well backed up with an hour wait...Awesome service and by that I dont mean just awesome service Im telling you around New York City is difficult to find people who care about your experience.
When we visited in July, everything was great as always. Unfortunately when we got the bill, there was a surprise. A 3% surcharge is now being added for any non-cash purchases, including credit, ATM, and phones. Im not sure if there was a sign when we walked in our in the menu, but we didnt see it.
I always loved the Suburban Diner. Not this time...I was drinking my water and realized there was a chip in the glass! I brought it to their attention and they took the glass, never offered me another and didnt apologize. As a matter of fact the waitress didnt come back to the table until she handed us the bill. Bad service.
We went to the Suburban Dinner because my friend said they make great burgers. I had the roast turkey platter which I highly dont recommend.
Eggs were well made. Home fries were unseasoned, corned beef hash was mushy. Coffee mugs were unclean. Overall not a pleasant experience whatsoever. Eggs keep it above one star. Would not recommend.

Worst diner I’ve ever been to. The server was so horrible didn’t even greet. Then, hostess or manager whatever was giving coffee to other customer and literally skipped us. Then one of the hostess had to bring the food out because the server wouldn’t even tell us what was going on with our food (this is after waiting over 30 minutes and place was empty). Food was also bad I mean how bad can breakfast be right it’s the same very where. Well potatoes where very greasy and toast stale. When we paid not even thank you. I would leave my business somewhere else. Would not recommend this place to anybody.
Recommended by the store I was shopping in when asked for a good place to eat with variety. Attractive and pleasant atmosphere and good food. I ordered a brisket (I believe) sandwich and it was outrageously good. Huge and good. Worth taking home the leftovers. Their coleslaw is spot on, too. Not too much mayo, not too tangy...good balance of flavor and texture.I just found the photos of my meal! The Greek salad was ample and really tasty. Once I ate that and the coleslaw before...there wasnt as much room for the sandwich! Hence, the leftovers. Waitstaff was really pleasant and helpful, answering whatever questions I had about menu items. If Im near the area, Im going back for more. Place is highly recommended.
First time eating at this diner after driving past it at least a thousand times. Large menu options and I went with a salad. Hard to mess up a salad and they didnt very tasty and fresh. Definitely worth a stop for lunch if you are in the area. Ill be back.

I always see the place fairly busy, so we tried to eat there on 2 separate occasions, the first time a couple of weeks ago the waiter that was working in the section they sat us in had his mask under his nose, was wiping his nose with his hands and then touching all the food plates and desserts. So we let someone know that we were no longer going to place an order and left.Tonight we wanted to give them a second chance, the same gentleman sat us and the female waitress wasnt coming by the table right away, when she finally did she was pleasant but she began to cough repeatedly and lowered her mask, obviously we all looked at each other and told her to cancel the order we placed and we let a man behind the counter know what happened, he offer free dessert to go but we were turned off. I wont be going back there again.

Stopped here after a flight from AZ. The food was amazing. The waitress was doing a little complaining to our table that they were short staffed and then proceeded to talk about how nobody wants to work these days etc....not appropriate. Over all the experience was good.
I like this diner, waiters and waitresses very nice, food very good but was appalled that they charge 3.75 for a ice tea. I have been to high end restaurants that dont charge 3.75 for an iced tea.
Waiter took our order and then took 34 minutes to bring the coffee and soda, food followed 10 minutes later, and one of the 2 orders was wrong. Then we did not see waiter again until I asked for the bill, of course he handed me someone else’s bill and then handed me the correct bill.Went to pay the bill and they now add 3% surcharge for credit card payments, add insult to injury.I spoke to the manager after I paid and he didn’t seem interested. It’s fine since Paramus NJ has lots of other places to eat.
This is a good diner. A little pricy but the food is a step above. Also my friend Doug tried to kiss me here. That was wackadoo. They have a very large dessert section.
The restaurant is off of rt. 17 Northbound. Good food with generous servings. Went early on a Saturday morning with cold, bad weather and the place still had a lot of customers. Servers are very nice. The restaurant is generally clean. Food is very low on salt, which is fine since you can add table salt to your own taste.Regular coffee is continuously poured (1 price) and is good coffee.
Food was decent prices very high. We went for dinner and got 3 egg meals and one order of wings and it was $75
A really good diner. I had the turkey dinner and I usually order it from a diner becasue i love turkey dinner. However, this meal was the BEST turkey dinner from a diner I have experienced so far. Gravy, yum. The pastry counter was insane, I wanted to eat everything! I did order dessert, excellent of course. Staff was friendly but a bit off that night it seems. But overall, this is one of the best diners, found it on the way home from Newark Airport.
It’s a nice place, very nice atmosphere, waiters are nice and pleasant, food is great. The only thing I had a issue with is the price.It’s a bit much when u order sides, like an omelette with home fries is like $10/11, no prob. But I ordered a side of ham and sausage, bc most diner include it with the meal.They charged me $5 for 3 slices of ham and $5 for 3 sausage links.... that’s $10 for just the side, the same price as a whole other meal....I could have gotten a whole waffle meal, pancake meal, or another omelette, idk just felt that’s a bit much for sides.Either charge $15 and include it all in the order or don’t charge $5 for a basic morning side, that’s usually expected with the meal.I paid and left. Nothing that I would come back for. Again place is nice, great atmosphere, people, wait staff is amazing, but price wise there’s better diners with same service and atmosphere that I can go to.

One of my favorite Diners in Bergen County, through thick and thin. HUGE menu with almost everything tasting delicious, personally breakfast breakfast my go-to there. Their Spinach and feta Ouellette with sausages and a side of home fries is the way to go. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is because it can get quite busy and the seating isng particularly the best, but overall excellent.
Classic NJ diner. Enormous menu, prompt service, always busy with diners of all ages. Tends to bit on the pricey side. Stay with the basics: omelets, etc.

The food is great, but the desserts are the best part. Best lemon meringue pie Ive ever had, its meringue is taller than the rest of the lemon, and theres still a lot of lemon. Its an absolute monster of a lemon meringue pie and it was presented like royalty. Its meringue was toasted beautifully, it had a little dollop of whipped cream next to it drizzled with caramel and what I think was powdered sugar. But not only did it look good it tasted amazing. The lemon was sweet but not too sweet and tart but not too tart, the perfect mix of lemon and sweetness that a lemon meringue pie should have. The meringue didnt taste too sweet but it definitely was present, and of course with it being toasted so well it had that little bit of extra crunch to top the cherry on the cake with a cherry. The crust wasnt too extraordinary, but it did what it had to do. I would 100% recommend the lemon meringue pie to anybody that even remotely likes lemon. I also ordered 2 different burgers on separate occasions and they both were great! I ordered a bleu burger which was bacon, bleu cheese, tomato (I think), and of course a burger, I ordered it rare and it came amazingly cooked. Would recommend. I also ordered a BBQ burger, which was BBQ sauce, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Again, it was really good. I would recommend this place for anyone in Jersey, its a great taste of how good Jersey diners are at their best. And the waitress I had a few weeks back was amazing, she seemed just happy to be there and was very fun to talk to. I believe her name was Michele, I could be wrong though. Either way she was amazing and deserves a raise.

Great place right on the main drag. Prices were reasonable and it was good to see them recently hustling and bustling during lunch. There are a wide variety of options on the menu. I had a Cajun chicken sandwich, and my friends all enjoyed their meals. The fries were classic diner fries. If I’m back in this corner of North Jersey I’ll be sure to visit again
3% service charge for credit card payment should be more transparent before ordering, not a surprise when check arrives.

The Suburban diner is a good place for a bite to eat after a night out. Conveniently located on 17 North its easy to access, service is quick and the food is good.The staff are friendly. Omelettes, waffles and sandwiches are all tasty. Its worth a stop if you are hungry later at night after an evening out.
Chicken marsala is good. Nice ambience.
First of all, our service was out right terrible. You would think a buisness would cater their customers but no. We were completely ignored, and I don’t wanna pull the race card, but all the WHITE customer seemed to be getting served thoroughly. It was 9 A.M, and they gave us dinner sausages. The bacon is flavorless and transparent. It looked 2 months old. My little girl has had non-stop diarrhea since we left the pace. The cashiers were clueless and tried charging us extra for all of our orders. A glass of old fashioned o.j. Is 4 dollars! Outrageous! I would not reccomend to ANYONE looking for some old fashioned country food.
Ordered a meal for my wife after a long plane flight. This diner was closest to the hotel. Ordered a Cobb salad with Salmon, Chicken piccatta, a cheese burger and carrot cake. $84. Yep $84. What a rip off. And to beat all they didnt even put the carrot cake in the bag. Never again.
Adequate service, mostly clean, but seated at a tilted table at the end of the restaurant. Even though we were far from the door, we got really strong gusts!Food was alright, a little lacking in salt, but the preparation was technically sound. I ordered a matzah ball soup (salt was needed in the broth and the matzah itself) and their Harvest Salad special. The salad included shrimp and sweet potatoes that were cooked perfectly. And the size!! The salad was so large I had no problem taking it home with me as lunch for tomorrow. My friends portions were also incredibly large, and they took their meals home too.My friends and I stopped here after Anime NYC on our return trip upstate so I dont think I will be back, but if I am in the area, I will give them another try!

The food and service was very good. Its a friendly and welcoming environment. Their desserts are out of this world. Today, I bought and tried their baklava cheesecake and let me tell you its AMAZING!!!! It makes you wanting more. Definitely a Five Star 🌟

Food delicious and desserts are excellent and homemade. Because of filling up from Mexican Burger with fries. No room for a dessert. And because I was traveling 2 hours with no refrigeration I was afraid for the chocolate mousse, cheese cakes, and other delights making the trip safely home. Will go back soon enough for dessert only and meal to take home ~
I absolutely hate the renovation they did. But the food is still outstanding. I recently took my wife here and she loved it.Everything is great here. I recommend the beef gyros. The only thing is I wish they would put the sauce on the gyro for you.The bacon cheeseburger is amazing also.Lets not forget the Chocolate milkshake.This place is definitely Aces.
