The Service at Capitol lighting is simply put the best. After having issues at some other lighting stores, I decided to stop in and see what options they had. When we entered my wife and I were greeted by a nice gentleman named Chris, he asked us if we were looking for anything and walked us over to the area and let us look around, while he saw if a salesperson was available. He returned shortly after and said unfortunately they were all with customers but explained not to worry that he would help us until one freed up. He took the time to hear about our issues and assured us that at Capitol we wouldn’t face the lack of communication and follow up we encountered in other stores in the area. He asked us about our space was constantly positive that we could find solutions we wanted and helped go through options for finishes and sizes of fixtures that we liked throughout the showroom. After a short while and some great conversation a salesperson Jeff freed up and made his way over to help finish the sale. Chris assured us that if we had any issues throughout the process he would be responsive and find solutions for us that left me feeling confident in purchasing here. With Jeff thing he continued to go smoothly. He recommended different lighting ideas than what we thought of and came up some creative ways to help us illuminate difficult areas in our rooms. Overall the experience was amazing couldn’t recommend this store more as we were leaving Chris touched base again making sure everything went well and that we were satisfied with everything and I explained to him how happy we were and that we would come back again soon. Ordered online. Bought a couple House of Troy club floor lamps. They look fine and Ill be back for more lights.Just changed the shade to a smaller Bell. Looks neater, but not genuine silk!

Purchased a light fixture from here about 2 weeks ago. The service was outstanding! I explained my needs they understood and helped me find the perfect option for the limited amount of space I had for a fixture. I was helped by Yvette and another very nice older lady I can’t remember her name right now. I HIGHLY recommend this store for all your lighting needs. I promise you you will not de disappointed.

Entrance now on the side of the building. Up a short flight of steps and not too easy for the elderly. They offer the option to call and have the main door opened but they are so short staffed no one came when called. We found what we needed then but had to wait for sales person about 10 minutes. Item not in stock, but then sent to the house with free shipping in a week as promised. It clearly isnt easy to run a business these days.

Ask them to place a custom order for a lampshade. They couldn’t reach the manufacturer so they were supposed to call me back to get my credit card number once they found out the actual price.I never heard from them, despite multiple calls and emails requesting the status of the order!

Love Jeff over at Capitol Lighting, Paramus, NJ, and their excellent products and superior customer service. My favorite product is the George Kovacs Floor lamp with two adjustable arms. Makes my work space light up nicely for all those Zoom meetings!

We had a great experience at the Capitol lighting store on route 17 in Paramus. We worked with Debi D. And she was fabulous! We dropped in just intending to look around and ended up buying all the lights we needed for our remodel. Debi was very patient and took the time to understand what we had in mind and help us find lighting fixtures that were perfect for us.

My husband and I went on Wednesday. Rude staff, no one came greet us and there were like 4-5 sales people just standing there the whole time while we shop. The lights are nice but you do need to train your employees. That’s not how customer service works.

Good selection of light fixtures. I used to shop at the paramus lighting but this place is better with more selections.Update:After initial sale experience, it all went downhill from there. I spent about $9k total at this store via store saleswoman but some of the orders never arrived by estimated time. The $5k chandelier was missing so many parts I am wondering if it’s a returned item? Not to mention delayed shipments from the start then delayed again because parts are missing. More delays because missing parts need to be located and sent…Their customer service and staff in Paramus store alike are so slow to resolve an issue. No wonder more and more people are turning to bigger vendors. If the parts are missing on a new order, you’re responsible as a vendor to replace it ASAP, not waiting again for the parts to be located and ship when you feel like it. After spending this much money, their poor customer service and attitude is not acceptable.

My husband and I just purchased our first home. We went to Capitol lighting in hopes of purchasing all new light fixtures for our entire home in a quick one stop shop fashion. When we arrived the sales person that was standing 5 feet from the front door (and facing the front door looking out mind you) didn’t even blink or acknowledge us. The store had only one other customer and there were at least 5 other sales people that we walked by that looked right through us. I tried to make eye contact a couple times but I gave up and even though we saw many fixtures that would look great in our new home I decided to leave because I felt uncomfortable. There were 2 sales people helping 1 customer looking at a $80 clearance item when we left. I wonder why my husband and I weren’t afforded the same service? We were 100% profiled. My white husband even noticed and felt uncomfortable by the way we were made to feel unwanted in this store. I will continue to tell others about my experience and will let them know where I went instead. Disgusting....I gave 1 star only because I had to.

The representative from this store, Susan Harrsch, was extremely helpful and responsive, both by phone and e-mail, in helping me find a ceiling fan that would be compatible with my electric setup and the would look good. She cared about each of my concerns, researched the issues and a solution, and sought guidance from an expert at the company regarding the switch questions I had as well. I am so glad that I called and spoke with her and didn’t just click purchase on the site because I ended up with a different and better solution.

Customer service has not resolved an issue that I have been emailing about for weeks now. A button fell off the torch lamp I purchased less than a year ago. No one answers the phone, and customer service barely answers emails. Capitol lighting ha always been my go-to for lighting in my home, but now I am having second thoughts.

Our experience at Capital Lighting was very positive! Our lighting specialist, Debi, with whom we had made an appointment, was knowledgeable and patient. The selection was amazing, and Debi was able to quickly identify our taste and budget. We left having bought 6 new fixtures feeling very satisfied with the entire experience.

I have been shopping for various homes here for more than a decade. They stand by their products. If its broken, they fix it. If you need guidance, they give it. Their showroom is stocked! In an era where everybody is moving online, it is so helpful to have an actual showroom. You cant ever really know a fixture until you see it hanging from a ceiling or wall! Prices are fair. I would not hesitate to recommend this store.

We went to several lighting stores for a kitchen fixture. In almost every one, we were all but ignored. At Capitol, we were greeted at the door and directed to the proper places. The salesman was helpful without being pushy or obtrusive and was most helpful. The selection was very good and we ended up purchasing our fixture there.

I have been buying all my lighting fixtures with Ariela Manor’s amazing help and expertise for several years. I could not express in words how wonderful Ariela is. Their prices might appear competitive, but you dont get what you order. I ordered and payed for a Kovacs floor lamp, but received the Kovacs table lamp. I contacted the company, which is a total nightmare, no follow ups from their customer care until I threat to press charges. So I send back the lamp and am assured to get the right one. Today I receive again the smaller lamp instead of the one I ordered. Read the reviews on Yelp, the reviews here are fake. Beyond unprofessional, a total mess.

This was a fantastic experience! I had been searching on line for the perfect pendant and fans for my kitchen renovation, but was unable to find anything I liked. I happened upon Capitol Lighting and found just what I was looking for at a great price! Shipping was quick and the lights and fans are beautiful!

Yesterday, my wife and I purchased a light fixture for a bathroom we are remodeling. Tony, our sales person, was very helpful in selecting it. This is the third time we have purchased fixtures from Capitol Lighting. Each time we have been able to find a fixture from the many fixtures on display. The hour and 15 minute drive from our home has been worth it. They have a much larger selection and better service than the big box stores.

I was able to get the parts I needed quickly ordered and a confirmation email arrived shortly thereafter. Today I got the parts. Couldnt have been easier.

I found a light i liked for my bathroom renovation project. Joan Anne was very helpful and patient. i ordered the light, and it should arrive this week. wont be able to fully rate until light is received.

Went in on Friday. Spent an hour in the store, was never even greeted. My interior designer called and made an appointment for Saturday. After spending over an hour in the store again and being totally ignored, we asked a woman Gayle for help. She was beyond rude. She told us she had a client and her facial expressions and body language was enough to indicate she was not interested in assisting us or finding us assistance. I told her I had a 7,800 sqft house I needed lighting for, which she seemed to care less about. She said I have a client and if you want to be mad be mad at whomever your appointment was it-were short handed today...not my problem. And she walked away. She then proceeded to stare at me for the next hour and talk poorly to her clients about me, loud enough so I could hear her. Finally when I said to my designer I wanted to leave, she got up and came flying across the showroom and verbally attacked me. She told me theres plenty of other lighting stores in the area, why dont you go to one of them! When I told her I would be speaking with the store manager on Monday she said she how well that does for you! This is my store, Im the employee! Customer service was so appalled by her behavior they came over and asked for my name and number to give to the manager. Needless to say we left and took her advise and went to 2 other lighting stores in the area....to the tune of almost $30,000. Hope Capitol and Gayle are happy. Great employee you have here! I will tell everyone not to shop here and my designer has already told both retailers of our experience and sworn never to shop your store again!

Wow Im getting concerned. Trying to contact Capital Lighting for a status on my order and NO ONE picks up, or i get disconnected while on hold for Customer Satisfaction group. So far not satisfied.I even selected to speak to Sales thinking they would want to pick up and nothing after several rings took me to leave a message. I thought this was a good company its been around for years....finally got through and CS was helpful in tracking my order.

The first time I went in a few weeks ago, I approached the first desk and asked for help. She promised to get someone and never bothered to call anyone; after waiting 30-35 minutes I left. I went back today as someone recommended Debi. Well Debi turned out to be the same person who I asked for help the first time I went in....but I introduced myself and as she was with a customer she said it would be a while and to look around. After 45 minutes she finished with the customer and went on to help another customer who had just come in; all she said to me was that she would be a few minutes...that turned into another another 30 min...Thats when I walked out the door. Extremely poor service; never bothered to apologize for the long wait or for helping someone else.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH 1-800 CAPITAL LIGHTING! I ordered a light fixture at the end of June that arrived today in a wet and very beat up box. Not only was the fixtures paint chipped but also the glass was broken!! There was no bubble wrap or styrofoam protection. How can a company ship glass that is not properly protected??? That is so careless and so unprofessional! When I called to find out what was taking so long to get my fixture, I was told that my item was being hand made upon order. The fixture was old and arrived broken, it was not hand made upon order!! I would NOT recommend ordering from 1-800 Capital Lighting EVER! To solve this debacle, I went to their Paramus NJ store location and the salesperson was so nice and very helpful and he exchanged my fixture (although my only choice was to take something he had in stock). But I have the electrician scheduled to install it so I was desperate to leave the store with something. But sadly he made me pay the $8 difference I owed for the new light fixture. So for my aggravation I had to pay more. I would give the store 4 stars but the 1-800 online service a ZERO!

If a light here looks like a $200 fixture, expect it to cost $500. I guess if you dont care about money, at all, then shop here. Some of their high end fixtures are very nice, and look like they are as expensive as they are. The problem is, if you want something that looks normal, not super fancy, youre gonna pay a fancy price anyway.

We were welcomed when we entered, quickly shown the area where the fixtures we were looking for (bathroom) were displayed and given ample time to browse and choose. The sales person was quick and efficient, found the least expensive way for us to purchase our light and the whole process was seamless and stress-free.

I purchased a very expensive chandelier and they recommended a person for the installation. The guy came and looked at my house and took a deposit of $150 and I never saw him again. He doesnt pick up my call or return the calls for over a week. When I called Capitol Lighting, they did not want to responsibility for it.

Went last week to buy a lamp. I work in New York so I arrived at the store at 8:15PM. As soon as I walk in, Ariela tells me the store is closing in 15 minutes. Instead of asking if I needed any help she repeated the fact they close at 8:30PM three times.I ended up buying a lamp and Manju was walking me out. She apologized on Arielas behalf even though it was not her fault.I went home and assembled the lamp to find out that it doesnt work. I called and Manju picked up. Immediately she recognized me and was very apologetic and took care of the problem.Not sure what position Ariela is in but she does not understand customer service. The three stars are just for Manju - she deserves the full credit.

I was in need of a glass shade replacement for a pendant light that lost a fight with gravity in my kitchen. I had no idea the make or model but after much searching on the internet and combing through 100s of photos I found it to be a Kichler brand. The shade replacement was available online, however, the wait time for stock to replenish was at least 2 months. I decided to try a lighting store and accepted that i would most likely have to pay a higher price. The first light store I called in Paramus NJ treated me like a huge inconvenience for even ringing the phone. I explained my needs and they asked when I had purchased the light from them. I explained that this light was installed 2 owners ago and could not verify where it was purchased from. I was told at that point they couldnt help me. My second call was to Capitol Lighting. The woman I spoke to gave me the exact opposite experience. Since it was the weekend and the manufacturer was closed, she took my info and said she would call back on Monday. On the return call she verified price, took my payment info, and had it delivered to my house in a week. A+++ for customer service and satisfaction. I will certainly use them again when it comes time to remodel. The price, by the way, was $16 less than i was finding online. I ordered 2 because, you know, gravity.

We worked with Debbie to find a funky kitchen table light, and she was great! Found just what we wanted (like we ALWAYS do when we go to Capitol), and was extremely happy with both the selection and the service.
