I couldnt tell if the record shop has been open recently according to another review they stated that it wasnt. i was in the area and stopped by to take a look but they were closed. i had visited in the past and enjoyed its inventory and selection they always had. its easily accessible if youre in the city or coming off the freeway. i hope to come back and visit in the future.

The prices are very reasonable and many times Ive come in there looking for one album in particular but would leave with about 5 or more. I highly recommend this store and please hit them up on Record Store Day because they have probably the largest selection of sought after records on RSD.

I used to love visiting Poo-Bah record shop way back in the early 70s when I lived in Pasadena. Now I live in the Midwest and really miss it!

I remember walking into their shop when it was in a house off of Walnut, I bought my first LP there and was introduced to great music thanks in part to my mom. You cant possibly walk into this store intent upon purchasing one item, unless youre getting stickers --- good luck buying just one --- and not walk out with good music in hand. Forget all the fad shops just now jumping on the vinyl wagon, PB had been doing it for over 20 years, go here you wont regret it.

Poo-Bah is a delightfully low key record store- its a little ways from Old Town Pasadena ( head east on Colorado Blvd away from the generic sprawl of Banana Republic and Cheesecake Factory) and enjoy discovering this hidden gem... Its not a huge store, but their turnover is really surprisingly good... Recently I unearthed a superb near mint original first pressing of Miles Davis Live Evil and the price was decent- nothing is overpriced here- unlike a certain vinyl and cd mega store in H-wood..;)Check these guys out- its a great spot!

As a place to go and browse through, this place is always a lot of fun. I dont buy as much as I used to there, but I always like going in there. Bob knows a lot about some esoteric jazz and hes pointed me in the right direction many times. Plus its next door to a decent dark bar for a beer afterwards.

Love Poo-Bah records. This is the type of place where you go in looking for 1 CD or LP and come out with a hand full of CDs that you love, but havent listened to in several years. Browsing through their store is like taking a trip to lyrical memory lane.Be careful, dont bring too much money. The more money you bring, the more you will spend.

I have had so many bad experiences with this store either in person or on the phone. Not sure if everyone who works there is a rude condescending d-bag, but the two dimwits working on Monday, March the 4th around 3 pm are definitely lacking in any customer service skills.I called to ask a question and the guy who answered the phone did not even let me finish answering my question before he mumbled “No” and hung up on me. I called back to complain and supposedly some other guy answered. It sounded like the same guy, but he denied it, and said I was being rude for complaining about the “other guy.” Then he hung up on me. Totally clueless. That’s not how you treat people if want them to buy records in your store. If you are rude to your customers, they will stop shopping there and you will go out of business. That’s how that works. There’s another record store just down the street that isn’t dirty, doesn’t stink, and the employees are very pleasant and professional

Ive only been here once and its a real class act. Great talkative workers, a dj up top, and amazingly cheap used vinyl, and a really tight collection of newer records. Great place if youre looking for psyche rock, punk, experimental, and jazz records.

I started going to Poo-Bah’s since early 80’s. It was always packed with customers and there were lots of exciting new releases and selections, with people just hanging out listening to music.Just recently I got the bug again and started to visit record stores, mostly hunting for music not released on CD or looking for replacements of classic albums that wore out over the years.Pre-CD days, store workers, although aloof at times, were always happy to see you and courteous, eager to give you suggestions or reminisce about the music you are buying.Well, those days have come and gone forever at this place. I actually prefer the smaller, cramped, original location; the old store was a corner house that was turned into a record store. Punks and New-Wavers came from miles away to shop here and to hang out. This guy manning the store overcharged me $8 and not until I asked for the receipt, Incase if a record scratched beyond tolerance (I just happened to look at the receipt at home) that I realized the overcharge. Maybe a mistake...I returned a week later to spend another wallet full of cash and to return the defective bundles of the sleeves (too small) and asked for refund or credit of the $8 overcharge+returns and the guy looked at me like I’m some kind of grifter trying to con him.He aggressively tore off one of the bundled plastic sleeves to prove me wrong and try to fit a 12” album into it without success. He even tried to lie saying the prices increased $2 per bundle. Oh snaps, I just pointed out the price tag on the item and the 1 week old receipt. It’s FU money, I just did not appreciate the hassle. I walked out without shopping. It’s the principle of it, and I may never return to Poo-Bah. The selections were anemic and new albums were extremely expensive. On top of that, the guy made us shop in complete silence for almost 20 minutes, muttering “I wanted some silence for a change,” while putting on music only after someone asked about it.I already hate myself for this review. Those who are offended by this, I deeply apologize. It already seem trivial and ticky tac in my behalf.

This is THE place for good vinyl LPs and CDs in Los Angeles. If you want to tune into the soul of the LA music scene, heres a great place to start.Pro Tip: for a nice Sunday music lovers afternoon w/ a special somebody, Id recommend visiting Poo-bahs and Zephyrs, a cafe/hookah shop 5 mins walking. Share your affinity for Roy Ayers and espresso - save the world.
