Ive enjoyed frequenting Homestyle Desserts in Cold Spring for months. Great selection, friendly staff. However, Ive noticed inconsistencies with the pricing, because none of the products in the case are labeled. Today, I spent $17 on a linzer tart and two cookie sandwiches... they were delicious, but I was shocked to hear the total. Last time I came, I ordered several more items for a total of only $20. Im not convinced there hasnt been an increase in pricing.Itd be extremely helpful to label the items and list their prices. With these items costing nearly $6 each, I wont be able to return as often as Id like.

My daughters wedding cake (Strawberry and Cream) was delicious! Cake layers were light, just enough strawberry, and the custard was smooth. A couple of days before the wedding she delivered to them fake eucalyptus leaves and her cake top. Cake was beautifully accented with the leaves and of course her cake top set it off. Highly recommend Homestyle Desserts!

The double temptation cheesecake was the worst. Look how it is falling apart on the inside. Taste like it came out of a jar. We have ordered this it the past and always been good but I am not the only one saying this about this cake.

Great quality and taste. I go to homestyle ever since I found them. No more supermarket taste!!! Heck no! They’re always busy. Put your order ahead of time. You won’t regret it. They are good.

If I pay $45 for a 10 inch cake, my socks better be knocked off. Our chocolate cake tonight looked beautiful and the filling was delicious. But the cake was dry. I appreciate the sturdy cake box this bakery uses. My cakes always arrive home in great shape compared to other places that use the typical white flimsy box. I would urge the staff at this bakery to practice phone manners. I felt I was a bother when I called to place my order.

Ordered a cappuccino but what I got was a warm cup of milk and a splash of coffee. I only say a splash because the milk was slightly darker. The taste, purely hot milk, no coffee taste.

Ordered latte and cappuccino.. they literally gave us cup full of milk. Went back to show them and the girl said “your gonna have to pay for it if we add a shot of coffee and walked away. We left the coffee and the terrible danish on the counter we paid for them to enjoy it! Terrible product and terrible customer service. Wouldn’t spend a dime there!

I have ordered many cakes here for different occasions and have been very pleased with every one. They are fresh delicious and a large variety in which to choose. I definitely recommend this bakery to everyone buying a brownie to a wedding cake and everything in between!

Love their cookies, but the retail area is a death trap. They have four doors available, three of them are locked. Only one unlit exit sign above two locked doors. That place could fill up with smoke in seconds and you couldnt find your way out. I talked to the manager about the code violation and lack of safety - he didnt care at all. I told the City of Peekskill about it, I hope they do something. Their staff and customers could be in real danger.

Homestyle Desserts is an incredible bakery! We chose the strawberries and cream with custard as the flavor! It was beyond delicious, all of our guests loved it!! They were incredibly communicative throughout the entire process - I sent their team the idea for the cake design and delivered the Italian ruscus greenery a couple of days before our big event! They kept the ruscus fresh and as you can see turned our inspiration into reality! Just beautiful!!! Thank you so much to everyone at the bakery that made our wedding cake so delicious and beautiful! My husband and I have also tried some of their other treats! I am a huge fan of their cannolis and cookie dough cookie tacos! Will absolutely be visiting again soon for more!!!

My family and I have ordered cakes from Homestyle for over 10 years. Today, I picked up a cake I ordered for my fathers birthday at the Cold Spring location since it was closer to my home. I have never been so disappointed and disgusted with the service received. The workers at this location are known junkies and have disgusting attitudes. They’d prefer to sit behind the counter talking then helping customers inside. There was one young guy who was very sweet and tried his best to add some type of decor toppers. The cake writing looks horrible, no flowers or boarder design, and there’s a random line at the side of the cake. I have NEVER received a cake from them of this quality. Actually, back in February 2020, I ordered a cake and it completely slid 5 min after leaving because it wasn’t cold and it was too tall. Ever since the pandemic hit, they lost some of their best workers and hired ones that have no idea what they’re doing. I will not be ordering from homestyle again. It WAS the best bakery upstate once upon a time.

This is a fantastic local bakery. They honestly have the best of everything cakes, pies, cupcakes, ice cream, cookies & of course the donuts, MY GOODNESS THE DONUTS!!! You name it they make it and DELICIOUS! The reason for the 2 star review is the customer service, this was long and coming unfortunately. I’ve been in there many many times over the past several years and it has not improved at all. Every time I go in I feel like I am a more than a bother to them. It doesn’t matter if they are super busy or if I am the only one in there they are just always bothered to have to help me. It’s really unfortunate and I am disappointed to give a 2 star but I have given more than enough chances to see if it was a fluke or an off say and it’s obviously not. I really hope to feel differently in the future. Being a local business you should treat every customer with kindness & gratitude always, especially your regulars.

Best Cake Ever!!! Chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and cannoli cream filling all covered in chocolate ganache!!! Absolutely 💯 amazing! They have the best cannoli cream, hands down!

The waiting line is RIDICULOUS-Everything is OVERPRICED and quality is comparable to a supermarket bakery!!! Don’t waste your time or money! Most items are pre bought and not even made on premises. TOTAL RIP OFF!!!! Did I mention the staff is lazy and all have an attitudes, no prices posted (bc if you knew the price you would walk out) and you don’t get a RECEIPT! The order was calculated on the staffs cell phone. Ask for a bag and get an attitude and wait another 10 minutes! All this and I get home and HALF of my $50 order wasn’t in the bag (which I was told was $43) STAY AWAY!!!

First of all, Diana is amazing! We went to pick up our Godsons baptism cake, which was absolutely gorgeous. Everyone at bakery is super welcoming and friendly. They have delicious looking cakes, pies, cupcakes, literally slices of cake on a stick (aka cake pops), chocolate covered pretzels, cookies, chocolates. If you can think of it, they got it. Their coffee was fresh and this is going to be weird but the ice cubes look like pitted olives and Im obsessed.

The cake I bought was overpriced for what it is, the generic store cakes are equally bad but at least they are cheaper and don’t claim to be ‘ home baked’. No one ate the cake.

I was very excited to buy my husbands favorite cake for his birthday. I placed an order a few days before and picked it up the day of his party. It looked beautiful, but when we went to cut the cake that night, I was very upset that it was strawberry instead of canolli like I ordered. It was still very good, but not what I asked for and not a cake that he likes.I called back the next day to explain what happened and although they refunded me, they werent even a little bit apologetic.Disappointed because I really was looking forward to coming back here for other special events.

They have a lot of priestess baked goods ready when you walk in. They are barriers from the ceiling to floor, and the only opening between customers and the staff is via money exchange. Very good food, very safe for covid.

I have been going to Homestyle bakery for years but lately the service is just getting worse and worse. I was standing in a long line to get selected cookies but after standing there for several minutes, I decided to just go for one of their pre packaged cookies and go pay instead of waiting for people to order their cakes and stuff but instead I ended up standing at the register holding my cookies for much longer than I thought! The entire staff ignored me, helped everyone else and just walked right passed me like if I wasn’t even there. Finally I asked one of the girls if she could please charge me for the cookies and she responded “Next time you need to wait in line!” By the time someone finally acknowledged me, the person I was waiting behind of in line had already left but I decided not to argue with her. Definitely the last time I go there!!!

The staff here are attentive and you can tell care about what they do.The cookies, cakes and all that sugary goodness are delicious. They have a wide variety of everything and even during COVID the team will take good care of you.

Went today before 10am... croissants should be FRESH. They were old croissants... at least 2 day old croissants. Dont know about the other stuff but weve gone here several times looking for fresh croissants and theyve been CONSISTENTLY OLD. For people who dont know what fresh croissants taste like, maybe theyll like them. But we have never gotten fresh croissants from this place. Is that even legal??? All I know is... its fd up. (I returned it!) UGHHHH..VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Came in and bought a 7 inch chocolate mousse cake for my mothers birthday. I asked them to write Happy birthday, Mom! on it and they went the extra mile on putting cute dots in between the chocolate mousse swirls of the cake. It looked so adorable! The woman who helped me was also very patient as I was trying to decide and directed me to a handout with all of their cake flavors. When my boyfriend bought a cup of coffee, she was very kind to point out where he could add his cream and sugar as they have a little set up for that. He also bought elephant ears, a cookie, and a croissant -- all of which were AMAZING. The cake however? Even better! Im having a piece right now as we speak and its still moist. So amazing. I couldnt have asked for more.

The place is out of this world great!! We were recommended this place for my son and future daughter-in-laws wedding cake. We went to see what the hype was all about and decided to try a few items. They were so so so Good! The only problem with the place was it was difficult to chose what to get and the parking lot was not good! Its best to park somewhere else and walk here.

Love this bakery! We got a good amount of pastries and cookies and everything was fresh and delicious. The staff was super friendly and sweet, they gave our pup a sample of the bacon cheddar dog biscuits (which looked good enough for us to eat), so we took home some treats too. The prices are very reasonable as well. Will definitely be going back!

We got our wedding cake here!! They were amazing from start to finish! They have so many different kinds to choose from. They let us try samples and taste test different variations of cakes. They recently remodeled the inside and it looks great. They have many different baked goods available and it is nice to see the retail storefront expand! You can also get coffee there now. We also got a cake to go that resembled our wedding cake this past time. They were super nice about helping us figure out what to get. If you have an occasion that needs baked goods I would 100% recommend them!

This bakery is awesome! When you walk in the front door, the sweet aroma is amazing! Their cakes are delicious, but there are lots of other treats to choose from. Incidentally, they made our wedding cake and it was fantastic.

I ordered the Double Temptation Cake, this was not made fresh. The cake was frozen for a while and then made. The cheese danish was not fresh and the pecan coffee cake was not fresh. I put the order in before Christmas. They had trouble finding the order when I got there and had to wait for them to find the cake. I know it is Christmas and they make quite a lot of stuff. But when I special order or even just going for breakfast I expect that it be fresh. It was more than a day old. I worked in a bakery for many years. I will not be going back there.

Since moving to Peekskill, this has been our goto bakery. We have always had a pleasant and delicious experience except for this last time. I have spoken so highly of Homestyles for so long that my friend and I were competing on which Bakery was better. Homestyles vs Mias in Brooklyn. So purchased a cannoli cake to take to a friends house in Brooklyn. When we cut the cake I knew right away I had lost this match. The cake I purchased had the texture of a Tres Leche cake (cornbread consistency) not that light spongey freshness I am accustomed to from Homestyles. Obviously, the cake I purchase was not freshly made and came from the walk-in refrigerator. All the previous cakes were pre-order and not purchased directly from the case so maybe that was the problem.

Absolutely love this bakery, and have been going there for so many years. The staff are just the sweetest people and they feel like family. God Bless them all...😇😇😇

Very nice place. There is always a hand full of customers in there when i go. So the staff is sometimes rushed but never rude. Their cakes are tasty and well decorated. Tho most of the pastries and cookies can be a little heavy with the almond extract.

We are so fortunate to have the best bakery in our hometown. Hands down the most delicious apple pie in the area; our families request them for all our gatherings. And now, Laura is baking scrumptious gluten free treats from cakes, brownies, muffins & cupcakes to cannoli &/or chocolate mousse filled cookie tacos. This bakery has some quality stuff and the prices are reasonable, considering youre getting desserts made from scratch. Staff were super friendly and they have so much variety here.

My God let me out of this place before I eat everything!! Very good products but you will find on occasion a slightly overbaked or misshapen loaf. Also cakes are VERY heavily iced on thin loafs. Strange. I will ask for less icing next time. The Danish (especially apple maple) are too die for. The employees can still be surly and that has caused me to turn and leave once or twice. Thats not good.

Watch out for the hair inside the pastries!!!!

This place has a very local feel to it. They have a great arrangement of pastries. Ive tried the cannoli, cookies, and donuts. Overall, everything rates as OK. I dont find anything there to get excited about and I think they are a bit pricey considering the location. They seems to be doing well, though, so thats good. They are definitely better than grocery store bakeries, which are about the only other large-scale option in the area.

The cake was delicious BUT when I got to walk over to see my wedding cake at the reception, it had arrived damaged and they didnt bother even trying to fix it. ALSO the fondant design we decided on, that they charged us an extra hundred dollars for was just a piece of printed fondant that we specifically told them not to do. our cake looked HORRIBLE. It was the ugliest wedding cake I have ever seen! I started to cry when I saw it. Now I just received my wedding pictures back and cried all over again because the only picture I have of my cake is absolutely horrible. You see all the damage and the horrible print out as it was right in the front. I would NEVER recommend them to ANYONE as they cant decorate at all. It may taste good but the look is not appealing. Thank you Homestyle for ruining my wedding cake. I should have demanded they gave me my money back.

Since the Modern Bakery closed this Bakery has become our go to Bakery for all baked goods. They also create and bake special cakes for the NY Yankees. Great selection.

Lines much too long for bakery to accommodate. I believe they are over rated. Someone suggested ordering online. Given the last time I purchased a cake that was not fresh - It is not likely I would order on line. I will travel southern Westchester where bakery freshness has always been reliable.

Yellow gluten free with cannoli cream and fresh strawberries! DELICIOUS and fresh fruit! Beautiful done covered with white Swiss Dots!! A delicious cheese cake with perfection taking me back because It was creamy delicious just like mine!!! Love and will recommend highly!

Just the best bakery ever. We have been travelling over an hour to get our special occasion cakes here for over 20 years. Rose is retired and i didnt even know it so theyve kept the quality. Worth a trip to peekskill and if youre already there-dont miss it.

We had our wedding cake and our wedding favors made at Homestyle. Honestly, they could not have been any better. We chose a carrot cake, with cream cheese filling, and buttercream icing and OH MY GOD was it delicious! Even people who dont normally like carrot cake were so impressed. Equally as impressive were their apple cider donuts. We ordered them as favors and were a bit concerned with how they would hold up if people ate them the day after. Often cider donuts tend to get stale within 24 hours. Not these! We were eating them a full week later, and they were just as moist and delicious as the day we got them. We couldnt be more pleased- thank you Julie and team!

I ordered a Strawberry Shortcake. It came without Strawberries on top. Who ever heard of a Strawberry Shortcake that didn’t have strawberries on top. They were very disorganized at pick up. I will be disappointed if it doesn’t taste like a real Strawberry Shortcake.

Ive been using homestyle for years and Im never disappointed.

The only thing missing from my jelly donuts was the jelly. Ordered 6 and all 6 had no jelly. On the outside of the donut there was a blop of jelly that made you think the jelly was oozing out of the donut. I ate through two of them with nothing but the less than dime size blop on the outside of the donut. On another note, The Babka was delicious. Never a disappoint with that. Huge hit at the barbecue.

Recently bought a Little Mermaid cake for my daughters third birthday party and it came out absolutely amazing, the strawberries were fresh and I was very impressed . Not only was the cake delicious but the staff were very sweet and understanding to my two little ones who were having a hard time sitting still waiting on a busy Saturday morning. I highly recommend this bakery.

Bad deal tonight. I ordered a week early and got there for the pick up and was told it was in the oven. They closed in 30 minutes. I have to go back tomorrow and fight the crowd before the holiday. Not excited about having to drive back down to the river/train station. Parking is horrible and twice as bad on a holiday. I wiil rethink my holiday desserts next time.

Agree occasionally the help is not the friendliest. But usually they are fine and never had bad experience with the products purchased. As far as the lines go, usually that refers to the success of the product offered.

First time coming here, and we had some great pastries! I tried the blueberry, mango, and pistachio macarons. The pistachio was to die for! My boyfriend got a raspberry (maybe cranberry?) linzer tart that was just as good, and so large! They even have dog friendly treats and cookies! No complaints here, but one of the staff seems a little snippy. Overall, I would definitely come back.

Homestyle made the most amazing cake for our wedding. They hand made fondant sunflowers that most people mistook as real. The attention to detail was absolutlely amazing. It was elegant, beautiful, and delicious. I couldnt have been happier. Thank you, Rose!

Certainly, think the product is good or else I wouldn’t purchase from this store.Really, have a problem with the service by the employees. A purchase is just not throwing the product into multiple plastic containers and thinking that is service, when told by the customer that it is for a party and you need it in a platter, the employee should not feel bothered and put out. It is the consumer who is spending the money.. Poor customer service totally diminishes the product and future sales

Everything is delicious. Most of the staff is friendly. Tiramisu cake is the best ever!

They made a communion cake. They made the cake exactly how I Invisioned it with a great taste. Every guest was asking where I got the cake from and that its not too sweet (especially the frosting). And at a reasonable price.
