11/2/2021 -- Its been awhile since Ive been in any bookstore, so I had to resist the temptation to look at everything (but I still looked at the games & math books). The store was spacious, bright, & uncluttered with the books neatly placed on display tables or shelves. The selection isnt the largest, but if you take the time to carefully look through the books they have on the topic youre looking for, youll find something close to what you want.
Not what it use to be! Entire store scaled WAY back. Magazine section gone... PENN related items mostly limited to tshirts, hoodies etc but definitely not stocking like before. Computer shop upstairs closed along with school supplies and toys. Only thing left are books and that definitely (stock) took a hit.Just another victim of changing times/pandemic/supply issues?Sad to see it go.
I love hanging out at the book store and reading a great mystery book and drinking a nice hot cup of coffee.
Beautiful book store. Love the security that is located at the front door. Items are over price of course but if you are stuck in a bind this has the basics for school supplies and gifts for a student to take home to the family. Convenient location.
I thought some of the school logo merchandise was a bit more pricey than necessary. It felt like they were taking advantage of eager freshmen and their anxious parents who were so sad to see them leave home. There was a HUGE selection of school logo apparel, and, of course, LOTS of books. The store was huge clean and well- organized.
Good luck finding anyone who works there or help. There were no prices on a pair of headphones upstairs, had to go downstairs to find someone, and the employee with whom I spoke basically suggested I buy different headphones that were downstairs rather than go upstairs to find out the price of the headphones I actually wanted to buy.
How the hell is Barnes & Noble running the official campus store? How could they make half of their merch for Wharton School of Business? But dont even make shirts for a majority of the schools (e.g. PennDesign)Also, you can use your Barnes & Noble discount, but not a Penn student discount?
My first impression was where are the books? Most of the main floor was Penn swag. A center aisle provided a good selection of popular and awarded books. Much larger selection in the rear and upstairs. Staff friendly and helpful.we left with 8 books on a variety of topics
As an PENN ALUM & PRIVATE BOOK STOREOWNER, THE BARNES & NOBLE CORPORATION, SEEMS GLOSS OVER ACADEMIC SCHOLARS: SUCH AS HANNAH ARENDTS COMPLETE WORKS, MARY McCARTHYS COMPLETE WORKS, & OTHER ACADEMIC SCHOLARS ANALYZINGDR. HANNAH ARENDTS PHILOSOPHY, POLITICAL, & SOCIAL CONSTRUCTS!NOT HAVING: „THE BOOKS-IN-PRINT!„ TO THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA ACADEMIC COMMUNITY IS AWFUL & HORRIFIC! I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT ELSE IS BEING SELECTIVELY ELIMINATED FROM THE BOOK SHELVES! JUST A NUANCED OBSERVATION: NO PENN SHOWER SHOES?I KNOW I NEED SHOWER SHOES TO SHOW MY 💕 LOVE 💓 FOR PENN WHILE READINGDR. HANNAH ARENDTS BOOKS INGERMAN & ENGLISH!JUST SAYING!
I miss the old selection of quality sweatshirts, polo shirts and childrens apparel, back from the time that the Bookstore had competition.
I love this book store because they have just a fantastic selection as well as magazines that are sometimes difficult to find and theres a store sort of within the bookstore that has really cool household items and even some furniture. All the products and there are really unique and many are very very fun
Love it great support staff and very knowledgeable. And great sales.
A great bookstore here on Walnut Street a lot of title books Text novelties romance science whatever youre looking for youll find it here and if not here they let you know where
Its a beautiful store on a even more beautiful campus.
Great variety of items to choose from. Cards, toys and apparel.
Great selection of books. Love to browse here.
Very good store. Clean and very well organized. The staff were nice and helpful. We got a few items for our sons graduation.
Expensive but very spacious and organized with all variety of stuff and centrally located.
You can buy various stuffs from books and texts to souvenirs. There are many kinds of U Penn stuffs. So it is good for souvenirs. Sometimes discouraged books are available. Not only books for adults but books for children are available here! It is good place to visit not only U Penn related people but tourists.
I love shopping at Penn BOOKSTORE. I SPECIALLY was blessed when I found a very profound text on MORTALITY PARADOX, and my whole world became enlightened, to have evolve as a Writer, and Formulated unpublished Litterary material on TIME MORTALITY PARADOX THEORY. COME visit us at Penn BOOKSTORE Bookstore and invest in your Future.
A lovely and big book store in UPenn campus!
Love it here. Im always here. Should order more Boruto manga books
Well stocked. Very clean. Found just I needed.
Lovely selection of books, fairly priced
Friendly staff. Great resource for school material and everything Penn.
That starbucks was inside a bookstore that I never knew but the miss Lady in there that works for star bucks was so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ I was intrigued to know who she was but money comes first hope to see her again I would love to take her to lunch or dinner,😉
I had a wonderful time in this place and enjoyed perusing the books. I was craving it and hadnt did a book run in awhile.
Very cool bookstore and Starbucks
Great atmosphere and the cashiers are helpful n pleasant.
Nicely stocked with nice gifts.
Awww man! Its PENN! Only expect the BEST!
Good vibes! Lots of content, not just a book store. Built in starbucks.
I went to get my Alumni ID. It brought back good memories of my joy of learning.
Awesome loved visiting l!!
Overpriced, but they know their audience
Great store! Wide selection of books and helpful staff.
Good Service, larger building with much more seats than Barnes & Noble. I can bring my laptop computer, my books from home, my snacks and listen to music especially Smooth Jazz music it helps me to relax. I glad you are opened up again.
For those of us who still like to hold a book and find any book your desires this is the place .
Way over price. A children book is for $18?!!!! CRAZY
FABulous book store. Expansive! A deep collection of books on heavy duty topics. Almost feels like a good library. Wonderful atmosphere. Very pleasant staff.
Massive run by Barnes and Noble
Clean well organized and plenty of variety!
Penn items are overpriced, but staff is friendly
Convenient, affordable, good customer service.
👍
Always neat and clean. The cashier (Jennifer, is her name) was friendly and efficient. Im definitely going back when I get the time.
What I was looking for wasnt available in the store, but the clerk was very nice and she stated that she would place order for it and have it shipped to me! Loved the environment and vibe of staff very warm and welcoming
I purchased a Penn Under armour outerwear garment. I get comments on it all of the time. People love the way it looks. My Dr. even asked me about it. She likes their medical school as well. Anyway, its a Barnes and Noble store, with all of the college stuff. I liked the clothing, a bit pricey, but it is Penn.
Nice things but little too pricey for me.
Except for the sticker shock of textbooks. Even rented used are far from affordable. What a shame.
Expensive like all campus book stores
Great selection of items, and good deals on sale items in the back. A very beautiful bookstore architecturally. Books on 2nd floor serve multiple disciplines. Various study areas dispersed throughout location. In addition, coffee and snacks available. Purchased a hat for my dad, and a t shirt for myself as a souvenir.
Staff is helpful with a great selection.
Very friendly staff.
Amazon store, especially if you are looking for Penn gear!
Lots of books, Penn stuff, and a cafe
Clean, neat, big selection and helpful staff
Not much to say but its what youd expect.
Neat and clean. Though the selection needed attention, but maybe due to the pandemic.
They have a little bit of everything, certainly not just books.
Friendly service.
Upenn!
Love the store but the prices are high.
The best store to purchase any of University of Penna college gear. Awesome Hats, Shirts. Sweat pants. All items reasonable price right.Their warm and friendly staff are there to assist you. Just a pleasant place to shop.Thank you for being an asset to the University of Penna environment. We love you@
My go-to bookstore for years. Usually stop in on my lunch break. Can find my choice of books, and new books easily. Friendly, helpful and very courteous staff!!!
The everything you need book store. Excellent selection. Well organized catalog. If you love books Penn is a place you would enjoy.
This is my Alma Mater bookstore and it always feels nostalgic going back in. Some things are the same and some are different. They consistently offer new and staple items at a variety of prices. Im obsessed with bookstores but since this is a campus store it really feels like its for the University and not the neighborhood. Last week I got a $20 sun visor with a buckle instead of the Velcro that sticks to my afro.
Its called Penn Bookstore, but be prepared to use your Barnes & Noble account, as most college bookstores are actually Barnes and Noble. They carry nice Penn apparel and collectables. They also have nice gifts for your family.
Nice and clean
Large store with a wide variety of books, clothing and other accessories. I especially love the top floor replete with a section of school based computers and dozens of books on learning various computer languages as well as other subjects. Also loved the fact that you do not need to be a student with a student ID to receive admittance. JKM.
There is nothing like the smell of books and if you are a book lover you know what I mean. I visited here with my girlfriend and was really impressed by the selection available and at the prices offered. If you are around this area I highly recommend stopping by and checking the place out.
Although Im not a student, its still a great place to be. I go quite often to this bookstore. Whether you want books or a quiet place for coffee or some other beverage or food in a nice setting among books. This is the place to be in the University City area. Even the kids section has a nice charming setting as well. I also purchased alot of supplies for my studying needs. The selection is great and quite vast. Go see for yourself. You wont be let down.
If you want Penn gear this is the place to be. Also pro tip always search Amazon for your textbooks and come here for the price match. You get the convenience of the Bookstore with the low prices of online shopping.
When it comes to e-sales, dont bother. Twice Ive ordered items, both times it took them 5 days to tell me my order was going to be late, followed by another email days later that it was now out of stock and cancelled. Worse, the items arent taken down off the web and still available to add to cart and purchase. Come on guys, e-commerce shouldnt be this hard!
This is a nice bookstore. They have a lot of events. I met the author of Never Caught there
Awesome bookstore and other stuff
It is a convenient place to shop for school books and supplies if you are at Penn. But the other stuff-clothes, mugs, etc. But it is perhaps the only place where you get Penn related memorabilia. The text book center is on the top floor as are the dorm supplies and the Penn computer shop. There is also a SEPTA customer care center in the Bookshop.
Easy to see right off of Walnut Street servicing Philadelphia and the adjoining areas of Pennsylvania. Parking on the Street is available. Clean facilities. Public Restrooms. Credit cards accepted. We will most likely be going back.
Beautiful bookstore
Nice, modern campus with kind students! Campus police is well staffed and arrives quickly. The campus is large but everything is in walking distance. The buildings have bathrooms and water fountains, and students are always able to help with giving directions.
Fantastic bookstore.
Nice place to study. Starbucks could use a more friendly and efficient crew though.
Wonderful selection of books, clothing & other gift items. Sales associates are knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. Merchandise displays are visually attractive. Great atmosphere to shop.
It was nice but didnt have the clothing options I expected. Very little Wharton. Hard to tell womens or mens dept. But very helpful staff accommodating my present wrapping needs.
Good place to buy books. The store honors Barnes and Noble accounts
I still miss the Barnes and Noble that was at Broad & Walnut in Center City. This location will be better once the cafe here is remodeled. Its definitely not as welcoming, and they reduced the seating and magazine selections. Why? Not sure. It would be nice also if the outlets actually worked for patrons to actually get some work done.
Its your typical Barnes and Noble branded college bookstore, though its laid out pretty well with ample space for studying and reading. Helpful, knowledgeable staff and sufficient registers so your dont have to take long on line. Upstairs has a Computer Connection store which used to be downstairs, so there are sufficient supplies in stock for computing. Its well situated on the campus between the dorms and academic buildings, as well as the library, making it a good place for stopping by.
