Drastically different from the dock street that I have loved for years. As soon as your hand hits the door knob of the beautifully restored building you are assaulted by the trap music of whom ever is on the aux cord at the moment. Once inside the only thing that greets you are vaulted ceilings and a shrug towards the qr from the bar tender who clearly has better things to do than care about the awesome beer their brewery makes. Beer is great and so is the pizza. Id only the atmosphere and foh was held to the same standards.
Beer was good quality and cold. Great location and good seating. Love it!
Hands down the best pizza in South Philly! Their pizza may be a little pricey, but you get what you pay for and it is so worth it. Their beer is also good, and I really appreciate that they have cocktails for those who dont always want beer. The atmosphere and ambience of the inside is great - really cool design and architectural features. They also have plenty of outdoor seating on the sidewalk out front. Its definitely a go to spot in Point Breeze for take out or finding a relaxing place to hang out.
This place is great. Awesome staff, great beers, fennel pizza was amazing! Recommend.
I like this place. We come in for Johnny Goodtimes Quizzo on Wednesday nights. The room is spacious and clean. The pizza is very good and the Brussels sprouts are amazing. The staff is efficient and friendly.
Pizza doesnt translate from original west Philly location. Tasty Brussels sprouts, though.
Love the atmosphere. The selection of beer is solid and the food is great. Pizzas are delicious and the perfect size for 2...or 1 of you’re hungry
Buffalo wings were actually crispy. Which is good.
I absolutely love their beer here, and they change the menu frequently so theres always something new on draft every time I go! Their pizza is also really good and reasonably priced. I love the atmosphere too. Definitely recommend!
Great place. Pool, darts and good food.
It was okay food was good beer was all right. Not the atmosphere or ambiance of dock Street West which I absolutely love.
Such a good call to bring pizza to this location (old menus were a miss). Their pizza is so good, by far the best in the neighborhood. Also glad to see more outdoor seating/ beer garden style.
Great pizza and friendly service. We especially loved making our own pizza using their DIY kit. Especially fun if you have a little one! We used to live close to Dock Street West and now we are happy to live near Dock Street South. Looking forward to warmer weather to be able to sit outside for happy hour.
Good beer. Good pizza. The Fennel pizza is a must!
So happy that they brought their amazing pizza to south Philly! Easy seat yourself setup, super chill vibes and great atmosphere, and of course..delicious pizza and beer! Lucky to have this place in my neighborhood!
Beautiful, spacious, friendly staff, great beers.
How tf is this place rated 4.2? Some of the best food around and a killer draft selection
Amazing beer and lovely staff!
The misses and I went here for a date night, the beers were delightful! My food was great and hers was alright at best. The brewery apparel was subpar. We sat outside, which was nice to soak up the warm weather, not so nice for drinking IPAs in warm weather. Would venture again.
The staff here are so nice you feel like youre family! The food is great and the people coming in are also so nice! This place is highly recomended and is a must try as their brews are a must try as well. Im giving this place a 10/10, money spent here is money well spent!
Fantastic za!
Unbelievable pizza, craft draft beer, in a nice open & spacious atmosphere with huge solid wood slab tables and high ceilings. I like getting here before dinner crowds for a lazy afternoon.
What more needs to be said a great beer and pizza. We had the sausage pizza and the jack fruit barbecue pizza. Both are ones you want to try. We had the Prince beer and Man of Trouble. Again if you like dark stout porter style of beer a must try. Looking for a spot to enjoy time with friends stop in.
We order food to help the local restaurants and one hour goes by after the order was supposed to be delivered and nothing, no food or a call from the restaurant, we tried to call and was busy signal. We tried to call a few times and finally we got a old of someone there, they comments was that they ware busy and ask we wanted to cancel the order, are you kidding me!!! We waited already 2:15 minutes for it, if we go to another place at the moment we will have dinner by 11 PmNever again
Was ok. First time there. I really dont know exactly what to say about this place.
First time at this location! Great food, beer and service!!
This is a great place that I would recommend, they have outdoor sitting (some dont have shade so choose wisely), and a really nice staff. They have really great beer, we tried 5 varieties and all of them tasted good. My favorite one was the bohemian pilsner. But above all the staff is so nice. I took some beer to go on my bike and some fell down and they came to help straight away. So happy to keep on drinking their beers!
Edit... I went back and their menu is much better. The mac and cheese I had was amazing. The beer just got better! They are listening to their customers and really trying to meet the needs of the neighborhood. Great job!Original review below:I want this place to do well. But my chicken grilled cheese was missing the cheese. The beer is pretty great!
First off, I would give 5 stars for food alone, but the price of beer is almost prohibitive for this neighborhood. Though, I guess its not if thats what theyre charging. It would just be great if there were maybe smaller pour/lower price or pitcher options. Maybe after theyve been open longer.Anyway, the interior is beautiful, clean and bright. Natural light pours in. The menu has great choices. I tried the curry chicken salad sandwich and would get it again. At least theyve added happy hour!
Service is excellent, beers are beer, and the food is tasty. I wouldnt call it a budget stop, but the beers are reasonably priced. The seating is great and the table tops and bar top are amazing and beautiful. This is a family friendly environment. Lots of young professionals.
Great selection of beers. Very large space that is roomy enough if youve got a baby with you. The lunch and dinner food is fine but could be better. We heard the other Dock Street location had good pizza, so were a little disappointed that is not an option here. Its also a cafe in the morning, and they have delicious pastries. The coffee here does the trick, and its a good place to spread out and work due to the size. This place just opened and has got potential. It could be 5 stars if they revise the food menu.
As a frequent patron of your business, I am curious as to how you are taking care of your employees during this time. Many I’m sure live paycheck to paycheck and the loss of hours could prevent them from paying their bills or rent this month.I am only interested in patronizing businesses that recognize this reality and are doing everything they can to treat the people who make their business great with kindness and compassion by providing them a safety net and paying them lost wages including supplementing their tips!!
I recently hosted a fundraiser for Back on My Feet at Dock Street South. The team was so great to work with... I couldnt have asked for a better place to host this event. The lounge is the perfect space for private events. I highly recommend this place!
Like numerous people have said before, the beer and atmosphere is great. The food is sub par and over priced, even after a menu revamp. The cheese dip is delicious, but not $8 and is served with so few pretzels that you can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 of it! There’s better places to get beer and food within the vicinity.
Excellent food and perfect area to chill!
Very nice and trendy place, I believe will be one of the great spots soon...
The bartenders and the beer is what gives it 3 stars. If youre a millennial or hipster, this place is right up your alley. No seats at the bar on Sundays (weird to me) and just the whole Ambiance made this place....... different. Sometimes being different is a great thing. Not the case here. In my opinion. The beer is awesome though. And theyre serious about their cocktails.
I want to start with the disclaimer that Im a huge fan of Dock Street as a brewery. Most, if not all, of their beer is delicious. Im also a fan of dock Street West. Its truly a neighborhood staple and the food is out of this world, especially the pizza. If it isnt broke...start over?Maybe that was the statement that the owners of Dock Street South used as the inspiration of their new Mediterranean menu. Simply put, the food is terrible. Everything seems like an experiment gone wrong. Why would you not have pizza? Its, like your thing? There arent any pizza places in the immediate area, outside of Chicks. Your pizza is so good, and compliments your beer perfectly. What focus group told you otherwise?Ive been to Dock Street South five times, starting with the week after they had opened. The food was rough then, but I attributed it to growing pains. There are no excuses at this point. The hummus is by far the worst item on the menu. Its gritty, garlicky, and incredibly bitter. Ive had better hummus from a store brand sitting at room temperature loaded with preservatives. The hummus is simply inedible. Oh, and the beer cheese. Its more salt suspended in yellow gel then cheese. does anyone in the kitchen actually taste the food that they cook?Ive given Dock Street multiple chances on multiple occasions. Its a great alternative to a bar to watch whatever game is on at the time. Its a great place to meet people out on the location is accessible and parking is plentiful. But the food.Yikes in the yard.
*Updated review:Dock Street has settled into the neighborhood nicely and now slinging pies with the oven they added. Brews keep getting better and with the addition of pizza, a great sister location to West Philly. Good happy hour specials and great outdoor options.
Beer is amazing as expected. Very cool, chill brewery. Absolutely thrilled to have it in the neighborhood. The food is a little disappointing. Trying to hard to be another yuppie food joint, hopefully they figure it out
The service was terrible. A group of colleagues visited this establishment on 1/10/20 in the afternoon. When we arrived, there was a table of patrons seated, and NO ONE came to us, nor did they even attempt to seat us. After having sat for 7 minutes, a member of my party has to ask the gentlemen behind the bar for service. The attendant or whomever, gave us menus that had none of the items listed on the online menu. We waited a few more minutes to see if anyone would adders us and guess what....NOBODY came!!! We gathered our belongings, and guess what....nobody in this establishment cared. hate to say it, but maybe we did not fit in, and I know someone is going to write he is just being too sensitive. But you try going to an establishment and made to feel like you didnt belong!!!!P.S. We went to Chicks, and got better service!!!
Beer is great, pizza is great.
Outstanding and interesting beers from an O.G. Philly brewery. I didn’t eat here but the chicken looked phenomenal.. Good spot to park your car to hop subway for a sporting event or Wells Fargo show, too.. only about a 10-min walk from the subway.
Great beer, food needs work. The “cheese spread” was two loafs of bread and two small pieces of cheese for $15. I sent it back. Still a great addition to the neighborhood.
This space is beautiful. The food is really good! Had the chicken, and we had the toasted ham and cheese. DELICIOUS
We had the best experience at Dock Street South thanks to Renata and the general manager, Matt. I expressed some prior concerns and when we came back for a visit, we had an opportunity to chat with the manager and were served with outstanding customer service. Thank you for being such a great addition to the neighborhood and valuing your guests.
Good drink selection. Buddy ordered food, went to the wrong table. 45 mins later we asked about it. All they offered was a free beer and full price meal.
Wish they had pizza like the other location but still a fantastic place to stop in the Point Breeze area.
Excellent food and drinks. Great service.
The beer is delicious but make sure to check with the staff for what the correct menu is as the stuff advertised on the menu wall is often incorrect.
The beer is good, it’s nice that they have a pool table and darts, the space is cool and big. The food is overpriced and not good though.
Great spot to hang out, either over a coffee in the morning or over beers after work.
Came here on a Friday and they were out of multiple beers (from a limited menu) and the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered the Farro and Mac&Cheese sides. The farro was so salty it was inedible and the mac&cheese didn’t have enough flavor.I had high expectations for this place because it’s wonderful that they have brought some new spots to the neighborhood. I just wish they could finess a few things
Had a decent time with friends. Could be better.
Friendly service, excellent local brews, nice industrial spacious communal dining area. The mediterranean food is very tasty and im excited to go back for more.
I really want this place to be awesome, but so far it’s just underwhelming. The beers are great (as always), the space is beautiful (even if it can get a bit loud), and the coffee bar has great coffee. I absolutely hate the choice to replace table service with a mixed self-order/waited tables situation, especially when you walk in and have no clue what the protocol is. Then there’s the food, it’s just meh... nothing on the menu screams “order me(!)”. The place is brand new and you’re already getting served accompaniments that don’t sync up with what’s listed on the menu, plus multiple items we’ve ordered have been under-seasoned (as in they totally forgot to salt the food). To add insult to injury, the prices line up with a full service restaurant, but your food comes out on disposable trays with plasticware and paper plates. You’d think service would be stellar since you do half the work but instead it’s slow both on the floor and coming out of the kitchen.FWIW, I sincerely hope these struggles are just growing pains, this place could be an awesome addition to the neighborhood and I really hope they get the kinks worked out and maybe reconsider the menu (fingers crossed).
I was disappointed to discover that they dont have the wonderful pizzas that the West Philly location has.Food was mediocre and expensive.
Beers always good, food has no flavor.
Great beer and really good food
Great draft list and sandwiches
Good beers
👍👍
