I am giving this place a 5 star review because of my amazing barista Celia! She was so attentive and gave the absolute best recommendations when I was unsure of what to get. The coffee she made me was one of the best I have ever had. I will be returning because of her and only her!! Thanks again Saxbys Celia!
Solid coffee spot with lots of seating and access to internet.
B Corp. Slapping plant based options. Yes.
I really enjoy this place. Better than star if you ask me. The coffee is never burned either. Try it!
I want to give you a 5, but Im confused as to why you simplified your menu. The Snickers is my favorite drink, and I didnt know whether or not I could order it! The service is fast and friendly and the overall appearance is clean and orderly. Its a great location for students to sit and do work while sipping coffee. I definitely think its rivals Starbucks on taste.
Emily is a great host, and represents the cafe perfectly! The staff were all fun and easy going. Seemed like they get along great! The cafe is a great place to go and get some work done, there are plenty of outlets scattered around!
A cozy, trendy coffee shop on the corner right near the UPenn Dental School. They have seating available if youre in for a study session with your cuppa. The coffee is really delicious and their pastry selection is top notch. They have a French toast muffin that demands to be tried. Worth a stop if youre in need of some caffeine.
Great place where you can be yourself. Kind and helpful staff to serve you. Your the no.1 Customer.
Loved the vibe here. I got a maple bourbon latte and it was delicious. They had some baked goods as well. It gets pretty busy as a UPenn hangout for students studying. Parking isnt the best. They have meters for your car rather then a lot.
If you are not a student or someone who has a laptop, you might find this location a bit unwelcoming. Most people go there to work, applying for jobs, applications, schools related work, or entrepreneurs and artists work on laptops at this coffee shop. There are two long communal tables and a lot of two and three person tables. Sometimes hard to find a seat with many singles there with laptops open.
Last time I came I asked specifically do you pb cookies they said yes. I paid. Then the charged me. Then offered me something else. I said no. I only come for this one thing. They did give me a refund this happened twice. I will just get it at the saxbys at 30th street because u can see through the glass what they have and what they dont. It is ashame your staff at the penn location do know what is in stock.
I hope the cooks are just having an off day today. Normally their sandwiches are nice, neat and delicious. These eggs arent even cooked all the way.
Sore throat so I asked for tea with extra lemon. Cashier was very nice but the person making the drink gave me slithers of lemons that didn’t equal one wedge. If it was an issue, just charge for it. I would have gladly paid.
Seating can be limited since its a common study spot for Penn students. But the staff are consistently friendly, the drinks are great, and its a laid back atmosphere to catch up with a friend!
Im obsessed with their chai tea latte. It is the best chai Ive ever had at a non-indian restaurant. Best iced. This location went through a major renovation a few years back and they keep it looking amazing. Staff turnover seems high but I enjoy the baristas with whom I interact.
Friendly staff. Nice looking place. Was Bucks County Coffee years ago.
Good. Can be packed on the weekend (obviously). The Wi-Fi is pretty good as well. To the people just coming to sit at your table without asking if said spaces are occupied can be annoying and rude. 😤 Also there are plenty of other places to eat from as well.
I ordered 2 bacon egg & cheese sandwiches & an iced latte. Latte came out quickly and was really good, but then I stood there (literally stood by the counter) for about 25 minutes waiting for my sandwiches. THERE WERE NO OTHER CUSTOMERS FOR 15-20 MINUTES AFTER I PLACED MY ORDER. Then, FINALLY, after taking several other orders, the guy who took my order asks me are you still waiting for something? I Couldnt believe it. I was the ONLY customer for an extended period of time, and they hadnt even STARTED making my food. Had forgotten that I had ordered anything else, even.I reminded them of my order, and 2 employees then ran in the back. My food came out 5 minutes later... Mediocre sandwiches each made with 2 gross fake egg patties and soggy bacon that was almost entirely fat. Pretty sure it was all microwaved (bagel was toasted). The only reason Im giving 2 stars is because their iced latte was really good, and one employee gifted me a free drink card to apologize for the wait (which I proceeded to use right then and there). I really appreciate her for doing that. Unfortunately, it didnt make up for the otherwise poor customer service and the microwaved egg product & fatty bacon.Quite a disappointing experience, especially compared to the U city Saxbys I knew as an undergrad, before it changed hands and got remodeled. It may not have been nearly as beautiful as the new one is, but at least they made your food in a reasonable amount of time, cooked it right there in front of you... And used real eggs.
A favorite place of mine to sit and do work. Often very crowded, but theres a lot of seating -- couches or chairs and tables. Right across the street from Penns park too which is nice!
Great spot to study. Very clean. Good atmosphere.
Spacious. Outside seating. Very berry smoothie is awesome. 3rd one this week for me. (Had the other 2 at the other location on Chestnut.)😂
Good coffee. Nothing incredibly unique or groundbreaking, but service is relatively quick and there are plentiful tables to relax/study for a bit. You just have to hope its not already full.
Surprisingly, I was disappointed. I expected a more mainstream version of Starbucks and it wasnt. Still trying to find a place that makes great hot chocolate thats actually delish.
Great spot to do work and grab coffee with a friend. Great customer service and coffee!
I dont enjoy places which charge for a cup of water even when you are already ordering an (expensive) other item. Which this place does. Make sure you bring your own water!
What can I say about Saxbys? Its great: great food, great staff, and a great atmosphere for working or hanging out--if not both--especially from the heat.As a working space, they have a printer available for a cheap price, just in case you need to print out a paper or a resume. As a place to meet friends and co-workers, the there are tables for two and for four, as well as large tables and a cozy section with a sofa and comfy chairs. And the customers and the staff are extremely chill--no ones trying to call the cops because, say, a Black or Latinx person is enjoying their lemonade in peace or quietly chatting with their friends, family, or associates. The baristas are professional and personal--none of that funky cooler-than-you attitude.I cant recommend Saxbys enough--its the perfect neighborhood coffeehouse!
Better than Starbucks but there are better options out there for great coffee at a similar price point. Espresso was okay, overly bitter.
Great coffee. It gets crowded from time to time with students. The staff are friendly and helpful by letting you sample different coffees before you purchase.
A bit expensive but very good if you have the money for a great breakfast. Service is good too, just be aware that the ambience here tends to appeal most to those trying to be productive.
Standard over priced campus coffee shop. Coffee drinks are adequate. So are baked goods. Usually crowded with students.
A chill place to hang out, get work done and just enjoy a great coffee drink
Decent coffee but packed with people taking up too much space for too long.
The best thing about Saxbys is that there are plenty of seats (if you dont mind sharing a large communal table) and outlets. The menu is standard coffee shop drinks and food. People go to Saxbys for studying, not really for good coffee or snacks. Theres good lighting, its not too quiet or too loud, and no one minds of you stay a very long time
A pretty decent place to study at Penn. particularly in summer, as 1920 commons does not always open. as for their coffee, I hate saxby since I was at Temple. For coffee itself, all single owned coffee ranked the 1st.la colombe is the best chainstorethen, starbucksthen BN coffeelastly, drink saxby.
Tons of space to chill and work on your laptop! Always a warm nice, warm spot in the winter to take a break!
Different from other coffee shops and good coffee!
The guy with the glasses I forgot his name, but thank you so much!!! that peppermint tea helped my cold like champ
Better than a Starbucks but unfortunately full of UPenn students.
I recently went here after they reopened following what appear to be major renovations. I had a meeting with a student so we wanted to find a table for 2. The seating is very spaced out, and theres not enough of it. The ambience is seriously lacking... it seemed too sterile to be a cafe that I would frequent. The drinks themselves were OK, but not good enough for the price we paid. I will give it another shot before writing it off.
Spacious, airy, with high ceilings. Beautifully designed world-class cafe.
I order the same thing everyday. Basic flavored coffee, which they advertise everyday. Yet they only have it half the time. So annoying
A bit noisy, but good ambience for work and reading if you are cool with some background noise.
Inconsistent hours of operations. Choose this location in order to get some work done, posted schedule on the door stated that they close at 11:00pm but one of the worker gave the 15 minutes closing time warning at 9:00 pm. New summer hours, must have kick out about ten customers. Not a SB fan, but they have a half at least 4 stores in the area, plus some of the private coffee shops so next time I might just skip this location.
Always excellent service..but always crowded
Coffee sometimes is cold but environment is nice
I dont really get Saxbys. In terms of what they offer its really no different than Starbucks, and it *IS* a chain so you dont get the charm of a local coffee shop. For what it is - a chain coffee joint where you can get your drink, chill and use the wifi for half an hour - its just fine.*edit - it has gotten worse. They redecorated and painted the walls BRIGHT WHITE, so now not only is there no ambiance, its actually really unpleasant to be inside.
As usual good service and beverage
Nice people, food is ok
Some of the best coffee in the area. The store is clean and a great place to do some light studying.
Service is great however sometimes the coffee is cold. Also once I ordered croissant and i request it to be warmed howver they cook it!!
I love the brownies. Thats all.
I’m not picky about coffee, but mine was really badly burnt. Like, so badly that i had to throw it out.
Nice remodel but so busy when students are around it is hard to get a seat.
Good hot cocoa, smoothies, and muffins.
Great coffee, reasonable prices
Coffee bean make me second guess if they are making coffee. Expresso and milk temperature needs improvement. Sandwich is just slop of egg and bits and pieces of stuff. Time to let the kitchen go.
Decent coffee but gets packed during rush times
Nice, clean large space. Full of students as youd expect...
Good drinks, reasonable prices, friendly staff, and cool during the summer.
Nice place to work and drink coffee
The place is a little hot, but the bustle and energy of the place, coupled with the delicious (yet expensive) coffee assortment is worth it. Go here for coffee dates or study sessions to up your game over Starbucks.
Friendly, good coffee, obviously full of college students studenting.
The line moves quick and the coffee is good.
Nice place, good atmosphere, perfect to study
If I dont have my coffee from here in yhe morning, my day doesnt go right. This gives me my morning jump!!
The atmosphere is very hip, tons of seating inside
Good sev
Gluten free options
I regularly come here for their breakfast sandwiches with my boyfriend. He is lactose intolerant and always asks for his sandwich without cheese. This is the second or third time that they have put cheese on it. Very disappointing.
Nice Atmosphere. Lots of shared tables to work at.
Wonderful staff and some of the. Eat coffee in Philly.
You have to ask them about their hours everytimee because their schedule changes a lot especially around holidays and when students are home and if thethey understaffed or maybe always!
No place to sit down and enjoy your coffe a little crowded with all the college kids
Environment is alright. Coffee is pretty good
Great hot chocolate
One of many coffee shops on Penns campus. Pricey.
The coffee is nothing special and is a bit pricey like Starbucks.
Nice athmosphere, average coffee, below average snacks
Great spot for coffee!
Good wifi
Ok!!! place good coffee...
My Daughters favorite
Good for hang out
They will not give you change if you need it
Internet connection kinda sux
When was the last time anyone has cleaned the bathrooms?!
Nice place for coffee, sandwich
You can get coffee here
Slow and expensive, but good
Clean, coffee was good
Way to much for things
Great
Good on the go that is
Good service
