Great stock and options, and the bulk section is always well stocked! A neighborhood favorite.
I love the coop. A friendly pleasant community, grocery and neighborhood institution. It has a nice collection of bulk foods and spices and coffee/tea. Nice produce and meat and fish. Carries good bread from local bakeries as well as bigger brands.. During pandemic before vaccine I did curbside pickup or delivery
Stopped in for a quick visit, and I know Ill be back for more. The exterior radiates such a small town cute shoppe aesthetic. The interior houses kind and helpful employees, fresh produce, and so much more upstairs!
Lots of good local fare. I’m a member!
Nice people but sure feels a bit cramped. Works if you know where things are but one way path realistically
This is the best place to get groceries. Affordable and very good quality.
Been shopping at Weavers Way since my family moved to Mt Airy in 1976. It was whole foods before whole foods was whole foods. The original is always the best!
My boyfriend recently moved to Mt Airy and this place is in the neighborhood. We expected Weavers to be expensive but it was actually really affordable! I especially liked the spice collection, along with all the other dry goods items you can buy in bulk upstairs. Also, I thought the seafood was really well priced, and I like how theyre always running sales.
First time to The Mercantile. I was able to pick up a few last minute gifts while supporting a local business. Support local
Quintessential West Mount Airy. If you ever want to get a sense of what West Mount Airy is like you couldnt do that without visiting The Co-Op. Dont let the line etiquette intimidate you and dont let the Whole Foods-like prices deter you. Weavers Way is staffed and joined by genuine, liberal, educated hippies that define West Mount Airy. The prices and area remains exclusive but the atmosphere, store and members are warmly welcoming.
*~The place where I enjoy buying fresh and healthy food~*Beautiful and friendly atmosphere, great selection of organic food, and employees who are always ready to help you. 😃
This go up on Carpenter Lane in Mount airy is far superior to the one on Germantown avenue in Chestnut Hill. It has character its been there a long long time. It has a real nice feel to it
Absolutely love this store. Great options, wonderful staff, fair prices, lots of local goods. What more can you ask for. Stop by and you will fall in love as well.
One person in the entire store was polite and inviting. She was an older lady at the register on 3/2/2021 @ 7:30pm. Unfortunately, everyone else there behaved like they never saw a muslim before although theyre located in germantown where Many Muslims live. They literally stared...even peeked around the corner to look at me (white lady with black or dark hair). Smh. When will people learn to treat everyone as equals and stop all the division.
Amazing clean co op!!!!!!! So many selections, extremely well maintained.Amazing customer service and a happy/friendly cooperative environment. Will come back! Would reccomend to anyone trying to buy wholesome, natural, local groceries!
It is a good food market
Absolutely my favorite store on the east coast.
Love going there.
I prefer the one located on Germantown Avenue because they have more prepared food u can purchase
This is our beloved food coop/store, we are grateful to Weavers Way especially at this time. Thank you!
This place has an excellent bulk section and extremely helpful staff. They have a program in which a child can have a banana, apple, or carrot for free. The only difficulty is that the aisles are narrow. It is better suited for small grocery trips then large. Despite that we usually do our weekly shopping here.
Nice place. Friendly. Kind of tight inside store, especially for a big person. Also, takes a minute to get used to how things work there. But, I like it.
I love the store, great service and so friendly 👍👍
When packing for curbside pick up do NOT pack the peaches on the bottom. ! All 4 peaches are totally bruised, ready to be tossed. None saved.Otherwise. I am pleased with my order.
Cute little co-op. The locations are a bit inconvenient for me so I use it more for speciality items and treats, but they do have staples.
We love Weavers Way Coop! Obviously not the largest store, nor the widest selection, nor even the best prices. But its a true, neighborhood cooperative, and thats important to us. All are welcome; come and join and contribute!
A little pricy but great local marketplace. Reduce the salt in your soups.
Community Business. Always great service easy pick up. High quality produce and meats. Highly recommend.
We enjoy the community atmosphere of the coop. It has a decent seclusion and fair prices.
My favorite grocery store!
I like this place for bulk food, organic, and dietary restriction foods. Each time I go, I find a new thing I can buy in bulk and I feel great helping reduce waste. They also have a community bulletin board to learn about events and services. The only problem is how tight the space is. With a backpack and a bicycle helmet, Im constantly in peoples way and knocking things over. Take care not to take too much with you.
The staff here is pretty great, and so is the selection of products given the cramped space. The small space is really my only frustration but there isnt anything they can do about that! Also, well done on adapting to the pandemic!
Great selection. Pretty pricey even for some of the bulk items items . they have konbucha on tap. Cashiers are usually very polite. For such a small store you can get pretty much anything you need as long as you eat in season for certain fresh produce items. Lots of local and organic options.
I Love The Selected Items That They Have And Theyre Orange Juice Is Bomb!!! 💜💜💜
Ah, the original Weavers Way grocery co-op...two floors of organic, locally grown/baked goods. While they do carry some of your average supermarket staples, this is the place to go for prepared goods of the Kosher, vegan, and gluten-free varieties that may otherwise be unavailable in big name markets. Weavers Way also serves as a hub for the community of Mt. Airy--their bulletin boards that line the walls of the staircase advertise everything from real estate listings to commercial services--cleaning, pet-sitting, music lessons--you name it; chances are, theres a market for it (no pun intended).
You will find items here that are hard to come by, and bulk items that are fresh, natural and ethical. This co-op carries all manner of brands and is moderately priced for the area. This is the original location, and there are two others, one in Chestnut Hill and the largest store in Ambler. Fresh, homemade soups available daily at all locations, and Mt. Airy location deli is one of the best cheese shops in the city of Philadelphia.
Very welcoming and clean store! You get a sense of community as soon as you walk through the doors. The staff is pleasant, helpful and always smiling. Love the selection of fresh and organic produce as well as all of the other items they carry.
I picked up several items for a friend, and the staff was cordial and very helpful to me in obtaining the products I wanted. And for a treat to myself, I purchased a bag of chips made with avocado oil and sea salt.
I love shopping somewhere that is fresh, local and healthy. But most of all, you always feel welcome and at home.
My neighborhood grocery store. Love the vibe, staff and selection, even the volunteering in store and on the co-op newspaper.
One of the great Treasures of living in Mount Airy is the Weavers way Co-op. We are working members and so get 5% off the already cheap prices. If youre over 65 you get another 10% off on Tuesdays. The place to get healthy food in Mount Airy. And community. And across the street they have pet store and apothecary with healthy choices. We love Weavers way!
Nice little gem of a store. This place could easily be a location for one of the scenes in the TV show Portlandia. Its a strange store format in some ways, kind of a general store for mostly organic foods and healthy living goods, but they still plenty of organic junk food. It has all kinds of interesting food choices downstairs, produce, cheeses, etc, including a sort of Deli area, but not the kind of Deli you might be expecting. Upstairs combines bulk food with household Dry Goods. Its often very busy on the weekends, but they really move the line along. Ive yet to find something there that I didnt like. Definitely a regular visit when Im in the area.
Cozy chic
Beautiful selection of organics. Highly recommend!
We are a vegetarian and vegan family and the fun veg stuff, like burgers and cheeses are few and far between. Of course, there are vegetables but you know what I mean! 😉 The staff and clientele can be very cold and, I don’t know, entitled? It’s that thing with liberals with money—they have a black lives matter sign on their lawn but will push past a woman of color (like myself) like you don’t exist. I feel like I get attitude like this every time I’m in here and I don’t get that vibe shopping any where else for food. I go when I need to and am a member but don’t feel inclined to shop here regularly.
Recent visit was excellent as usual, and my favorite coffee beans were on sale! Just wish they had mail order, since I moved 120 miles away 2 years ago and this was my first visit since then. No other market compares with WW, especially the produce and most especially the bulk food section in the Mount Airy store -- it is incredibly extensive and you can buy exactly how much you need so your pantry items are always fresh. And the staff is a consistent combination of knowledge and eagerness to help with any question.WW is the #1 thing I miss since leaving the Philadelphia area. Please, mail order, mail order - at least on the nonperishable bulk items.
Clean,professional and large variety
Good food, good people, the Green Street - Carpenter lane store has the best bulk grains and beans (and fruits..and oils..and spices..and more) that I have ever seen. This is a co-op which is good for the community whether or not you are part of it. Healthy and nice in every way.
Excellent food co-op and community. Member for 30+ years. Highly recommend to go and shop and become a member. Staple of the Mount Airy scene.
Favorite place to get groceries by far
Long time member, but I am perpetually amazed the coop can pack this much selection in such a small space. Quality is excellent; attention paid to changing tastes; strong attempt to sponsor local bakers, farmers and ranchers. The turnover of products is so rapid, freshness is never an issue. Bulk sales of grains, herbs, coffee, nuts, etc. members and non-members welcome. Bring your own bags, please.
This location is a bit small so be prepared for shopping in close quarters. We recently had an issue where we brought our own jars and they didnt take the tare weight off of our purchase. When we went back to resolve the issue the cashiers couldnt believe that a glass jar would weigh half a pound so they kept thinking the refund was too much money. When we tried to explain that the jars are heavier than plastic containers they got very persnickety... The nearby location in Chestnut Hill is a better option. Our favorite location is in Ambler though! The Ambler store is right next to the Ambler Beverage Exchange which is convenient too.
Great co-op. Everyones super friendly. They have a lovely cheese selection and some prepared foods as well. Bring your own bag, though, and be prepared to bag your own food. If you dont bring your own they have some they can sell you for a reasonable fee
Some of my fondest childhood memories were from times spent with my aunt in 1970s - 1990s. Frequent visits to Weavers Way were a small yet memorable part of the experience. After a long absence I have very recently visited the Mt Airy store to initiate membership. It was a bit more modern, but the store itself was much like I remember. If you happen to visit at a very busy time of day, you may miss the welcoming spirit of unity and friendship which is ingrained in Weavers Ways history and culture, but please dont let that discourage you. There is much value in what is now a group of co-op stores which offer a grass roots, less expensive and more productive way to enjoy organic fruits, vegetables and unique foods.I doubt it will take you more than 2 or 3 visits to feel right at home :-).
Super wonderful way to eat clean and support local farmers and businesses, while also being a member.
A great variety of food, both organic and not. The Mt. Airy location also has a huge bulk section upstairs. It is more affordable in most cases than Whole Foods, and it is a community owned and operated enterprise. If youve never been, check it out!
Nice customer service and you can get fresh stuff here.
Fantastic local grocery coop.Dont be fooled, it is not expensive because it is better quality. Compared to other better quality food stores that sell good organic food, this is in the whole better value
Very extensive bulk section. Great selection of quality produce. Most selections are organic. Better for buying high quality vs. Inexpensive options. Meat selection is good to. Look in freezer for savings on meat or fish.
Great store with many healthy and local options. Definitely would love to support their business. Its a great service to the community.
This place could be considered the heart of West Mt. Airy. Healthy organic locally grown food is sold in a friendly environment. As a life long resident of Mt. Airy, it is like a reunion everytime I visit. Become a member to support this great place and get great discounts. Great vegan and vegetarian options.
Very friendly and helpful workers. They also do home deliveries on Mondays and Thursdays so it important to make your orders the day before. Fresh organic fruits, vegetables, meats and bread products. Its nice.
Prices are way too high, but love the atmosphere. Miss the good old days here before we took over the neighborhood. Love the mercantile though.
Great community market for fresh food ...
Ashley,Nia, Terry, Thomas, Tasha, and my all time fav,Devon, these people make it worth the trip. Love Im!
My favorite grocery store in Philly. Its like a shop from the Harry Potter films.
The weaverway co-op is a member organization which really makes decisions that are based on the environment and healthy sustainability for animals and the environment. It has a neighborhood feel to it and you can do special orders theres lots of benefits to becoming a member to this coop. Especially the food and the products are just outstanding.
What an amazing place. Friendly staff, helpful staff and healthy food at reasonable prices. Great little grocery store.
They offer organic choices in everything the sell. Upstairs has an bulk item section, along with choices of olive oil, vinegars and kombucha. A wonderful section offers a variety of choices for baking. The staff is always friendly and helpful
You dont have to be a member. Great selection. The entire block is a nine community. They also have very many events there. Parking is not great and the building can get crowded easily.
Excellent choices of goods, and not limited to food. They treat employees fairly, create develop and maintain many community outreach programs. By far the place to shop if you have an appreciation for quality foods, and/or a caring, progressive mind. Even if you lack both, try it anyway!
WWC has friendly sales people, low-key commercial environment, with strong spirit to reduce packaging and minimize impact in environment. They have many great products at good prices. Im not giving five stars because summer fruit has looked and tasted bad IMO. Any other grocery store I go to this time of year has gorgeous fruit.
Always find just what I need here. The staff is so helpful and really nice.
Ive never been there cant rate
Yes, this is not a large store. It is a local co-op. Space is lacking, the checkout process is a little goofy but the staff has always been helpful to me and they have the best bulk food section in the area. I really like the option to buy just as much spice as I need rather than having to buy an entire container of something I know Ill infrequently use. Additionally, the price of the bulk items is pretty solid. Teas, coffee, honey, vinegar, olive oils, grains, they have it all. You come to this place for the bulk food, the general grocery downstairs is cramped and maybe not the best priced but if you use the Co-op as a supplement to your other shopping and stay mostly upstairs, you will find it a great resource for your wallet and cupboard.
Very nice, community atmosphere. On few things, more expensive than, say, the grocery store--but probably better reflects true costs! Lots of items less expensive, lots of nice stuff, and the place is a pillar of the community.
Great selection of local, high-quality, fresh produce and other products. The bulk foods selection is excellent. You may also pre-order items you need, and they will call you when they are available.
We love this place, despite the entitled fellow members, soups need improvement as they have fallen off recently
Weavers Way is bringing back the much loved holiday pop-up shop filled with accessories, art, ornaments, toys, pottery, plants and even more by independent artisans – 90 percent% of which are produced by Philadelphia regional artist.
OMG. up stairs bulk shopping. All kind of discount programs. Good for all is just one. Love the one on carpenter lane the most
Its cramped and the most commonly heard word is a whispered, Excuse me. But I love this place and shop here often. If you want a bigger selection, check out their Chestnut Hill location 15 min away.
My favorite place in the neighborhood. I actually missed the co-op when my veggie garden took off and I didnt need to visit as often. Great organic and healthy products. Bulk foods that are hard to find. And a quality pet store for our puppies.
Good local food coop. Support cooperative businesses.
Bulk and dry goods are great
Welp, its all the crunchy healthfoodycoop goodness that one expects. lovely location, great bulk section. no place better to buy spices and fair trade coffee.
Love love love. Amazing community, great products. Check out their other sweet shops on Carpenter lane. 🤙
Family has been a member for years! So glad it is in our neighborhood! Great team, quality products /brands! Wonderful Co-op!
The staff is really nice and knowledgeable and the food is delicious!
Update 4-20-2021:The mercantile has reopened. Maybe it’s been a couple years. It’s a smaller space now than the original. Hours are reduced to Saturday and Sundays from 10am-5pmET.Business is closed as of 12/31/2017 but it was a great place while open. Uncertain what Weavers Way will do with that space. Weavers way grocery remains open.
The cashiers are always nice and knowledgeable and theyre both department is awesome thats the one at Carpenters Lane their new little store across the street called Mercantile I really love the stuff thats in there they have great gift ideas and I love that at their local vendors
Weavers Way makes it easy to support your local co-op. We have plenty of choices within driving distance of this location however I prefer the co-op. They have a great selection of spices and dry goods upstairs, and I always bring my bottle to refill on Kombucha from their kegorator.
Im a co-op member and shop regularly. However I do realize that the co-ops system of lining up to pay around the corner from the registers is not intuitive for first time shoppers. There should be more community-friendly directions.
Great Staff and good food. At little pricey and hard to find things. Staff does not always know wear the product might be.
Great selection of hard-to-find ingredients. Small place. Amazing bulk section
Great community grocery. Small, but has lots of variety. Great bulk foods selection.
Great grocery experience, good prices and healthy options.
This is the kind of community co-op people seek out when they relocate. This seems to have almost everything, and membership is appropriate for regular shoppers and reasonably priced. Parking is tight.
