So I began with covering three seats for 71 Suburban. The seats came out amazing. I was so impressed I had a new headliner put in on my 88 Suburban. The headliner is beautiful. The last work was covering the two front seats of a 73 VW bus. Also the best quality, Next will be the dashboard for the 88 Suburban. I was updated on the processes and the quality is better than new...what a find!!!!

If your looking for specific tools or items to create custom decor - this is the place to go. I searched all the hardware stores for grommets, but found nothing. Not only did they have what I was looking for, but the staff was very knowledgeable & helpful.

Looking to get my Honda Shadow Aero motorcycle seat reupholstered, I asked lots of questions regarding stitching and what colors they offered. I knew what I was looking for and they were definitely able to do what I wanted. The price is fair. Super communicative through it all. Picked it up and it looks so good!

I took my 1998 Toyota 4 Runner Limited to Leary 3 years ago to replace the leather on my drivers seat. He recommended an imitation leather replacement to save me money. His team did an amazing job and 3 years later, the seat is as perfect as the day I picked it up. I will definitely return for any future repairs.

It is difficult for me to write this review because I really though I had found a good upholstery shop. They did the sofa and bench seats in our hybrid RV and I was pleased with the job. Then I took the canvas for one of the drop down beds in to replace the J-hook. He said he could do it. I called back after a couple of weeks to see how it was going and he said he was having trouble finding the J-hook. He was going to check an RV place and get back to me. He never did and I called back a week later. He said there were some other places he would check and he would call me back that afternoon. Again, no call. A week later I called but he didnt answer (during business hours) so I left a message. When he hadnt called me in a week I called again. No answer. I left another message. No call back 5 days later. I texted him. No response. I called again, and left a message saying that it was fine if he couldnt find the J-hook, just please call me back. No return call. A few days later I drove over to see what was going on. He hadnt found the J-hook. When I asked him why he hadnt answered or returned my calls, he said he didnt want to be the bearer of bad new. What?!? Better to just leave me hanging? I took the canvas back. He had cut a piece of the J-hook off as a sample. When I asked for that he said it was at the suppliers. I told him that if he would get it back so I could take it around to find a match I wouldnt write a review. Two weeks later, no sample. I wont work with someone who treats me like that.

I had my headliner done on my 97 dodge truck that Im reconditioning for my 15 yr old son to have for his first vehicle and it turned out awesome pricing was fair and had me out in about a day. I found Leary from a customer of mine that owns a 1952 Hudson Hornet and his car is beautiful and he has recently done work for my company on our 1969 GTO and redesigned the entire interior, convertible top and even added power windows which I will attach pictures later but my point is no job too large or too small for Leary and his team. Big jobs take time but it is definitely worthwhile I will continue to recommend all our customers and car show spectators to American Upholstery

Worst custom Job Ive ever had in 20 years. I was referred to the shop by a friend. I went in to speak to the owner who was very busy at the time. I took a model I had made of what I wanted and he was so distracted ay the initial meeting we were interrupted three or four times. I left him my information including my phone number and came back in 3 weeks. He hadnt even started the job. At that time he informed me it would be $450 and I gave him $300 cash. I came back three weeks later they were finally done. After two weeks they began to crack and I return them to him. He then proceeded to fix them with a cheap grade vinyl and the attached pictures are what you see after less than 6 months use. For three months the RV was in storage and no one even sat on them! The only saving grace was my credit card company for the last hundred and fifty dollars did reimburse me. Stay away from this guy hes drunk all the time and this is the great job he did for me I truly believe he just didnt care enough about me as a customer

A few years ago I had stopped by American Upholstery with a Jeep Wrangler that had an issue with the zipper on the soft top. Leary, the owner, helped me with the issue and actually fixed the issue and wouldnt take any money for it,Fast forward a few years. I purchased a used pickup after selling my jeep because I needed more towing capacity. The drivers seat had a nasty ripped edge, exposing the foam cushion. Remembering my past experience with Leary, I returned to find out if he could fix my drivers seat. He quoted me a very good price, did a great job of matching the damaged panel and did the entire job fast accurate and great looking. Thanks Leary for a job well done.Bryan Dammann, Scottsdale, AZ.

Buckle your seatbelts, this is gonna be a long ride. Four months after giving this job to Leary and I am incredibly disappointed with his service and work. He originally reupholstered four dining chairs and did a fantastic job. I provided the fabric and he picked up and delivered the chairs in a timely manner. Several years later I decided to give them a facelift by painting the wood chairs white. Naturally, I thought to hire Leary again because of the excellent first time experience. Big mistake. Two months later he says the chairs are finally ready. I was shocked to receive them because they were painted black when I clearly requested painting white to match my dining table. I refused the chairs. No apology, no communication whatsoever. Two more months pass with many broken promises that they will be ready next week and I am a priority. At one point I told him flat out I need the chairs, I am tired of sitting at the couch to eat every meal. He responded condescendingly, let me play my small violin for you. I was surprised and offended by his comment. I refuse to be treated like a hysterical woman for simply wanting a job completed. My first impression of Leary was kind and personable, however that changed. Then, Leary stopped answering calls and did not return my phone calls and texts. His voicemail was full and texting became the only option. Yesterday I received the chairs after texting that I was prepared to take him to small claims court. When I called the next day to follow up Leary said they would deliver the same day. The chairs were indeed delivered the same day. I was presented with a bill that was higher than what I was originally quoted. Unfortunately I did not have it in writing as I trusted his verbal quote over the phone. At this point I was beyond frustrated and wanted to put the ordeal behind me. I paid the bill in full. Lesson learned, get everything in writing.Upon closer inspection I noticed drip marks on the arms of the chairs where they were touched up. Also, the upholstery is a different shade and lesser quality than what was originally on the chairs. It had been so long since I had seen the chairs that I did not notice the fabric change at first. A picture of the original chairs confirmed my suspicion. I am furious that the money I originally spent on fabric and reupholster charges went down the drain. The chairs are slightly tacky to the touch with a strong paint smell that could knock you over. I am wondering the quality of paint and fabric he used. I am concerned it could be harmful and am airing the chairs outside. Every time I look at the chairs I think about the hassle, lies, and lack of integrity. If this how Leary treats a priority return customer I shudder to think how he handles anyone else. I have more work that I will be taking elsewhere where Im treated respectfully, competently, and without small violin playing.
