These guys were awesome. I was heading back to L.A. when my brakes started making a heinous sound. Ordinarily I would do it myself, but I was away from home and my tools. With no reservation, they had my busted rotors, and pads replaced, and we on my way home in a sneeze of time. Thank you Stephen, and your crew. Your heroes.

Josh and Emil were awesome! They worked mechanical miracles fixing the failed clutch on our car. Josh kept us informed during the process. They did everything they could to get the repairs completed as timely as possible. Emil was meticulous about the repairs and assembly of the clutch. They took great pride in their work and kept the process as painless as they possibly could and got our car back on the road. An A-1 top-notch team! We will definitely go to them again and highly recommend this store!

I set up an appointment to get an oil change with this company. They werent able to do it during the time they gave me, so they rescheduled for the next day. After I showed up the next day at the scheduled time, they once again told me they didnt have time to do an oil change. No apology, no explanations. They were also exceptionally rude about it. They may give good oil changes, I wouldnt know. I would not recommend dealing with this business, they are only going to waste your time and dont give a damn about customer service.

I have been taking my car here for several years. I had an old car, and they have been honest about what was worth it for me to repair and what I should not spend my money on. They are great - they talk you through everything and give you all of your options. Their prices are fair and service is excellent & most importantly they are honest!!

Took my Car in for transmission issue because my Engine light was on. No major issues according to Tech. Computer rebooted and so far so good. The job was done in few hours and price was great. Other places would have tried to over charge me for services my car did not need. Jorge was straight forward and polite.

This review is based on several years of doing business and several cars. They have consistently been wonderful to do business with. The customer service has always been great. They keep you in the loop as to the status of the repair, explain the where and why clearly as well as patiently. They try to save you money wherever possible. When they fix it it stays fixed. Excellent shop. I cant recommend it highly enough. I wouldnt take my vehicles anywhere else.

I went there to get an over heating problem checked out. I let them know exactly how to get my car to over heat and that it would take probably 15-20 minutes. After being there for 40-50 minutes Scott the manager comes back and says we need your car for another couple hours because we cannot get your car to over heat. I said that is not possible because I just got it to over heat on the way there. Scott was definitely short and rude. So I said not thanks we will just leave. Then got back in my car and drove off. When we got to our next destination I realized they broke my door handle on the inside because I couldnt open it. I called Scott to inform him and that I was going back for them to fix it. He says without hesitation or even asking anything we didnt brake your door so dont bring it back because we arent touching it. The funny thing is when I first got there another customer was there and he was livid because his bill was higher then the dealership was going to charge him. He said something to Scott about it but Scott was very short with him. Then when the customer left he told the female receptionist what a jerk (he actually said a different word that starts with a D***). I will not ever go back here again nor would I ever recommend it to anyone!!!

Brought my work truck in. Turned out it need the trans rebuilt. Work was done in a timely manner. Price was on reasonable and competitive. They contacted and updated many times through the project by Jay. I will be switching to them as my main mechanic and I will tell all my friends and family to go there too.

My car was Driven under its own power to the AAMCO to have them reset the Electronic Transmission Control (computer).However they have a Mode of Operation for selling Every Customer a rebuilt AAMCO Transmission whether it is needed or not. Fully ignoring anything the customer says, they run the OBD diagnostics in order to indicate the transmission was ruined and the car had to be dismantled because the transmission must be REPLACED or REPAIRED.Thats when I said, If you are not willing or able to reset the ATM computer as I asked, then let my car down off your lift and Ill drive it to a shop that will. But now that can never happen because they have taken the transmission OUT of my car and it will cost $3600.00 to rebuild and reinstall or $2500.00 just to put it back in without any repair at all! This is Unbelievable! This car has 138000 miles on it and is not worth $3600.00 in good running condition. It is impounded at AAMCO & is not going anywhere until All charges are paid in full.It turned out there were No Broken parts in my Transmission and it could have been reset like I requested in the First Place, but NOW MY CAR IS GONE! Ive never been treated like such a chump! Worse yet, I am not unique in this dilemma, This is standard operating procedure at this AAMCOI know Auto Technicians work in difficult conditions and on ever more complicated, advanced machines. Even the highly skilled and honest ones seem to get a bad rap these days. No doubt as a direct result of the kind of shenanigans that some of the Less honest ones like AAMCO put over on vulnerable customers (Just about everyone is vulnerable to these tried and true gimmicks used on desperate customers with car trouble and who are given no choice but to trust a shop that has full capability and may intend to financially ruin their lives.)They have set me so far back that Ill never recover from their Greed.

Do not go to this shop. They charged us for a problem they claim to have put the truck back on proper timing, however they were still unable to start the truck. We paid to have it towed to a different mechanic, who verified that the truck was not put back on the timing properly and also had wires misplaced that blew a hose off very unprofessional. Aamco refuses to refund us for the cost they charged for repairs even though they didnt fix the problem correctly and we have physical proof that we were customers. to those who need a Automotive repair shop 3A Automotive is highly recommended.

Good service and good communication. I was tempted to blame these guys when my truck had repeated AC issues, but it turned out to be a difficult problem to track down. I confirmed this with another mechanic. In the end though, they stepped up and took good care of me. The management is really good and certainly doesn’t fit with some of the negative reviews I see here.

My cars air conditioning went out on the hottest day, so far on my way to work. I called the AAMCO location on Van Buren. I spoke with Jim and he arranged for me to come during my lunch hour. They diagnosed my A/C issue and found that I needed new brakes. Jim called me and explained everything to me and gave me a quote. I was so pleased that I made an appointment for the next day. What a great experience! I will definitely return for any other work on my car. They do it all!

they do much more than transmission work and they do it well.Ive been dealing with Jay at AAMCO for years. Ive trusted them to work on mine as well as my wifes vehicles over the years. Hes worked on my Honda, my Saturn before that, and an Impala. Service has always been top notch and fairly priced.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the AAMCO location in downtown Phoenix. I have never been there before but they are closer to home than the dealership, I had heard of good things from a coworker that had maintenance done, and saw that they were offering a special on a service I was looking to get for my car.Prior to my visit, I had scheduled an appointment with the dealership. I’m used to visiting the dealership because I’ve always assumed that they know their cars better than most mechanics. Although this may be true in some circumstances, I was very impressed with Josh’s extensive knowledge about my vehicle. In addition, he mentioned some of the benefits of visiting AMMCO including the wide variety of standard things they check for compared to some dealerships.I canceled my appointment with the dealership and scheduled with AMMCO same-day. Within 45 min of dropping off my car, they identified 2 additional potential issues with my vehicle. I forgot to mention either of these to Josh but they had been previously mentioned to me from different dealerships awhile ago. I was impressed they found both potential problems so quickly and offered solutions without being “pushy”.AAMCO went above and beyond by providing exemplary customer service, and extensive knowledgeable. Anything you need serviced or repaired on your car you can trust Aamco to get it done right and fast. I had noises coming from my back tires that I could not explain and Jay got it diagnosed and gave me an estimate that was not as bad as I was expecting. All in all, I will be back and I will be telling everyone to come here!

Im always nervous using a new service but these guys were great to deal with, (thank you Jay). They were very helpful & gave me 4 repair options of various pricing structures. While the repairs ( new transmission, transfer case, wheel bearings & drive axle) were not cheap, the pricing was competitive and fair. Watch out I am back out on the road!

Finally an honest repair shop in Phoenix. I am a United States veteran I recently had my retired mothers Hyundai Santa Fe serviced for the AC and Jim was the best manager Ive ever dealt with in Auto Repair. He fixed my mothers vehicle in approximately one hour for half the price I was quoted by two other repair shops in Phoenix. If you need your vehicle serviced take it to gym on 3rd Avenue and Van Buren in downtown Phoenix I am more than satisfied with their efforts. Im glad I finally have somewhere to go do to get a vehicle fixed without worrying about getting ripped off

Was looking for someone to replace the family-run garage I used back in PA; did not expect it to be AAMCO but Ive been coming here for five years now and never been disappointed. Been there for everything from oil changes to transmission problems and theyve always been knowledgeable and transparent. Theyve helped me when I couldnt even get the car into the shop. They guys up front and the lead mechanic have all been there a while too which helps with the consistency of service.

Been here a few times to get my car fixed, from brakes to ball joints, never had an issue with the work that was done, good prices, in fact better than any other place I have been to, I highly recommend you check them out.

Called in to see how much a rebuilt transmission would cost me. The first place I went to told me that I would need to have my transmission rebuilt and it was going to be $1,600. I spoke with Antonio and he asked me to bring the car in before he could tell me what it would cost to fix. I brought it in to get looked at, and turns out it was just a sensor that was off, he fixed it for free!! Saved the day! Thanks!

The issue I had with my wifes car seemed to be small problem at first. We thought only a few hundred dollars to fix her car. It turns out my wifes car needed a new radiator, radiator hose, and new belts. I will admit I was shocked to find out all the issues my wifes car had and needed to be fixed.Jim was very forthcoming of any charges for parts and labor. Jim was also able to give me a spot on an estimated time of completion of the repairs.Now the only thing that was problematic was the new radiator. My wifes car kept losing coolant. It was by no fault at all of Jim that the radiator was losing coolant. As it turns out there were manufacturer anomalies that Jim and his staff had to fix on the radiator.Each time Jim allowed to me to bring back the car and make necessary repairs. Jim is a man who stands by his work and the work of his staff and shop.Jim was honest and gracious enough to make the repairs and inspect the car.Jims customer service attitude of we have to do whats right really stood out for me. It took a few tries, but I am happy to say my wifes car is fixed and running smoothly.I would definitely recommend anyone take their car to Jim and staff at AAMCO.Thank you Jim and staff .

First telephone call was inviting, then description of what was wrong was understood. Next appointment was given same hour same day and in the bay in 5 minutes after conformation of me and make and model was given to be serviced, fantastic fast staff. Did I mention the multi-point inspection was free, yes and options to fix first things first and not things that did not need to be fixed. The front desk associate, Jim, was awesome. He was so helpful and went above and beyond to help me. The only reason my review is 4 stars and not 5 is that after receiving my repairs I spoke with a family member who was a mechanic who said that Aamco did some work that wasn’t really necessary when I asked for them to only do what will help make my car safe to drive. Very very expensive work. They also made it seem like I would break down on my way home if I didn’t let them fix my car right away, when in reality I could have driven the car to my family mechanic instead. Also after my repairs my radio needed to be reset since they disconnected the battery and instead of calling the Honda dealership themselves and doing it they made me do it even though I wasn’t the one who disconnected it!

I cant speak to the quality of work from these guys, but I can say their customer service is questionable. When I first brought my Mini Cooper in for a quote I was told financing options were available since these transmissions were expensive. I was frustrated that they hadnt even looked at my car and were already telling me this. I was quoted for labor only to remove, rebuild, and install my transmission. Understandable, you wont know what parts need replacement until its opened up. They were so quick to get started working, they hadnt even quoted me the final range of cost I could be looking at. When I asked, worst case was looking like upwards of $8k! Needless to say, I picked up my car and turned it around to a Mini expert that may be expensive, but is transparent about my total cost up front.If you have a specialty vehicle, it might be best to stick with the experts. AAMCO missed the mark on transparency and trust for me.

I would completely recommend this place! They went above and beyond to help me out when the brakes went out on my car. They communicated with my family in a different state and even stayed after they were closed to get the job done for me. They are the most friendly and reliable car place around.

Jon was very nice. He made sure you understood what your vehicle was going through, what the parts are and the price. My vehicle was not repaired as i chose otherwise. Still If it is a transmission issue, Jon and his team will do what they can to help.

I love how honest these guys are! If you go in for an oil change they dont miraculously find other things wrong that need fixing. However, they do perform a thorough check and point out areas of concern to keep an eye on. If you do need a repair, I feel that they give you the honest details of the situation, try to make it as affordable as possible, and NEVER pressure you. I have been in several times and watched many other customer interactions and see that everyone is treated in this same manner, which speaks volumes. Dont let the Transmission part of the name deter you...they really offer total car care. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them!

Ive recently discovered Aamco and I love the service. First I had them look at my SUV and the price for repairs was well over what I anticipated. Jim was honest and to the point with me about that. I then took my car to them for a look over and Jim and the guys were able to get my car fixed in less time stated and for a good price. Love Aamco Van Buren.

In addition to transmission repairs, they also service and repair clutches, standard transmissions, and differentials. I am very pleased with the rebuild they did on my transmission, and can confidently recommend them and will be bringing all my auto issues to them.

I began to notice an issue with my manual transmission with the classic signs of a failing clutch. So having moved recently to the downtown area, I looked around for a local shop. This AAMCO had some good reviews, so I called Jim, the manager. We talked on the issue and I asked to bring it right over. It was 3pm. Jim was pleasant so I drove it over and he diagnosed the issue. I left it overnight. The next morning Jim called and told me he had found a few other critical things and texted me images of a failed CV boot, a leaking oil pan gasket and a stripped wheel stud. The stud I knew about. Jim fixed the issues by 3pm for 970.00. Good deal. No upsells. This AAMCO is now my regular shop!

I have no issues with Jon at the Van Buren facility. My transmission was removed & shipped to their Cave Creek shop. The work was promised in 5-6 days & took 11 days over 2 weekends. Jon said someone dropped the ball,, At least they took the car rental cost for the second weekend off my bill. They were not proactive in their communications. I had to call them every day starting on on the day the van was promised. and have difficulty getting information.

This shop is very good. Helpful, honest, and quick. I highly recommend this location if you want great service.

I dropped my car off at one thirty in the afternoon for an oil change and they closed up shop for the day without giving me my car back! I keep calling them and cant get through to anyone, it just hangs up on me. What the hell!And an update: when I called back today very cranky about the fact that I now dont have a way to get to work, John the person I spoke with was completely unapologetic and kept saying he assumed it was fine because he spoke to me late in the day which is when we called at 4:45 to see if the oil change was done and it wasnt and we were told the inspection was done but the oil change wasnt and it would take about an hour and a half. Called back in an hour and a half and no one picks up. It is the responsibility of the business owner to communicate clearly with their clients, and they failed.

Thanks to the staff at this Aamco I walked in and had same day brake overhaul service. Even made an out of town reservation knowing I was safer on the road. They are upfront about the inspection and the 1/2day estimate took less than 3 hours. So far this is better svc than tempe .

Robin, Scott, and Mike have to be the most honest people I have encountered in Phoenix period for car service for any problems!!!!! I went somewhere else and they told me I had s transmission problem. Turned out I needed a new battery and brake shift that cost me nothing compared to a so called transmission issue!!! If you seriously want a honest quite and good service with humble people that will work with you come here for all vehicle issues big or small!!!!

Had a pleasant experience at your shop today. While traveling through the area on vacation, we started having some issues with our vehicle and how it was driving. As the issue seemed to be getting worse, we happened to be driving by your shop and decided to stop in and see if we could have the vehicle looked at. Upon entering, we were greeted by a young man, Erik who introduced himself as the operations manager and customer service representative. As we tried to explain what the issue was, Erik promptly started asking questions in order to try and figure out what the problem was. After answering his questions, our vehicle was brought into the shop, diagnosed, and fixed. The professionalism and courtesy shown by this young man turned what could have been a vacation disaster into an experience that got us on our way quickly and allowed us to move on with our schedule.

Well Scott and Rob really went outta their way to help me get my trasmission repaired. I was a homeless vet trying to get back on my feet when my transmission went out. They really worked with me with the payments and did a stellar job on my car and I would recommend their services to anyone looking for a honest repair shop.

Poor diagnosis and troubleshooting. Sloppy and incomplete work. Terrible customer service.My vehicle has been in this shop 3 times over the past few months and they have been unable to properly diagnose and resolve the issues. I asked for a refund so I could take the vehicle to a different (non-AAMCO) shop and was refused. Their technician left a connector disconnected during their re-assembly process and my shifter did not work properly. When I addressed the issue with the shop (and the partner shop in Paradise Valley) they denied that the technician left the connector out of the proper slot (even though I had pictures of the loose connector). Also, they scratched our LCD panel with a tool, an issue which they also denied. These people operate with the motto that the customer is always wrong and would not take responsibility for their sloppy work.Lastly, read the 5 star reviews with a grain of salt. AAMCO bribes its customers to submit positive reviews in exchange for a free oil change. I went to AAMCO based on the recommendations from Detour Dan and the KTAR commercials and I am regretting that decision. I wish I would have read the other candid reviews before taking my vehicle to their shop. Steer clear of these unscrupulous people.

Andrew was nice, but the other person working up front treated me like an idiot and talked down to me. Never coming here again! Dont believe all the reviews either. They offer 9 dollar oil change for a good review.

Scheduled my oil change appointment online. Dropped my car off on my lunch break and walked back to work (downtown). Picked my car up after work. Very convenient, wasnt upcharged, got exactly what I asked for.LATER EDIT: Was told that I would get a free oil change for reviewing online. Did so. (Above post, which wasnt exaggerated, I had a good experience.) Went back for my free oil change. Was upsold, told I needed new brakes and brake drums. Agreed to get them in addition to my oil change. They changed the brakes and forgot the change the oil. I had to go back again the next day. It was a much less convenient trip when I had to go back again.

I was going avoid writing a review due to fact they were willing fix their mistake but now that AAMCO employee let my car roll off the ramp and damage my door & who knows what else got damaged, having me drive around with a open door. My vehicle got broken into thanks to AAMCO ! Will not recommend & they still havent reached out to me about my door.

Pulled into Phoenix with some transmission issues, went to AAMCO and John and the staff were a huge help. knowledgable, direct, and efficient. highly recommend

I dropped in to see if I could get assistance with my front & back lights. They got me in & out in less than one hour! Not bad for not having an appointment. Not to mention the guys there were nice & professional!

Ive been going to AAMCO for several years and have spent, at minimum, $10,000.00 . Ive had good LUCK with the Gilbert location, but have had issues with trust and pricing at this Van Buren location. I recently had substantial work done and had a total bill of $4,755.07. I had received a mailer from this AAMCO location informing me that I would have a 10% discount on my next visit. When it came time to pay, the clerk...I think that his name is JOHN, informed me that he would not accept my coupon, which again, they sent me. He told me that they had discounted a lot of the work done already. I do not trust this location. On my departure, the clerk reached out to shake my hand. Afterward, I had to look down at my hand and make sure that all of my fingers were still there.The only reason I came to this location was because of its location to where I live and that I have a line of credit with AAMCO and did not have to pay cash.Go to KIncaids on Adams and 7th Ave. T.J. the owner is honest, upfront and dependable. I will never use this location of AAMCO again.PS: The corporate office of AAMCO will not stand behind any of this because each AAMCO is individually owned and can do as they please.

John did an outstanding job, always friendly even on the phone! Gives good advice and all around great neighborhood auto shop.

I absolutely love this aamco location!! I have been taking my car here for awhile now and had to learn the hard way not to take my car to other shops. They always get right to the point on work I need done and never bring up extra things. I highly recommend this location only! lol

My truck is under warranty. Today will be the fourth time I take my truck back to be repaired. Horrible service by the mechanics. They keep telling me transmission was repaired and ready to go. I picked up my truck and engine light is on requesting a sylanoid sensor repair which is inside the transmission. This location is a joke the transmission problem continues and has not been repaired. On the 18th of this month it will be 1 month trying to get this truck fixed. Today I dropped it off again and asked Jim the counter guy to please fix it the right way. Unbelievable how they think they can rig it just to get it on the road not caring wether it’s fixed properly. I’m an honest person requesting honest work.

Crappy service, expensive, and they go back on the price they originally tell you. Horrible costomer service, I do not recommend this place to anyone. Wish i can give 0 starz.

Took my chevey truck in had great service and maintenance done,truck runs great! Had my baby with me laurie was very kind and willing to help entertain her with me, got us in and out with great time i will go back every time for any maintenance needed I recommend them highly (van Buren location)

Ive been there twice and the second time was not a good experiance. I was not happy about the diagnotic fee. Is $200 really worth it? I told them the car didnt want to turn over and it took them 3 days to finally look at it. I understand it can be busy but 3 days and then having to pay $200? Thats bull. Very disappointed.

Have taken my 2005 Dodge neon there 3 times and Rob and the guys have taken very good care of me. I will be recommending them to anyone i know that needs car repair, thanks guys.

When I dropped my van off I was told the transmission flush would be a couple hours but it ended up taking all day. When I picked up the van John had a laundry list of other things I needed to get done and said he would contact me to schedule an appt. He didnt so I called the shop. He had no idea what work needed to be scheduled and then told me just to bring it back in. Decided against it. Waste of time. Slow service. Not the best customer service.
