Fell in love with this coffee shop, price point is great for the quality of drinks given. I tried the Americano, it is very strong bold flavor with great after taste. But then I also tried the Honey Lavender Latte and I am blown away by the composition of flavor. I have never had something like this. I will be coming back to try the other drinks and teas. You can bring your own mug which it fun. I love the out door seating is shaded and inside has a relaxing vibe. Over all it was a great experience, staff was friendly. Very aroma pleasing inside the coffee house and outside next to the plant.
Love the coffee! Roasted in house, super delicious. Cute, cozy spot with a very chill vibe, filled with great people.
Cold brew was delicious and bought some beans as well! The outdoor space is nice for getting work done as well
Ive been remotely working from coffee shops for 7 years and I approve of Esso. Great small coffee shop. Feels like the local coffee place. Wifi is great and lots of outlets along the walls for laptop chargers. They have pastries but no food, so make sure you eat before you come. Im also a huge tea drinker and their tea selection is great. The chai and matcha are one of the best in the city.
Visited June 14th.I was so excited to come check out this shop since it’s about 2 minutes from my house and they have a Harry Potter themed summer menu. I will say that the drinks were fantastic and the atmosphere of the shop is super cute and quiet enough to get work done or enjoy an Intimate conversation.. however the experience that we had with the barista was very very off putting. We were complimenting the shop audibly all the way up until we placed an order but even then they seemed frustrated that we didn’t know what we wanted right off the bat. Like I said, I was excited to check out their HP themed menu but didn’t know what the drinks were so I needed a minute. I told them it was my first time in but they ignored the statement and left us standing at the bar while they went and did a couple other things, which wasn’t in itself a big problem, but it would have been nice to get some recommendations when we voiced that we were unsure of what to drink instead of leaving us standing there .When we gave them our order they didn’t look up at us and seemed very put off by our presence there. However another customer, seemingly a regular, came in and they were pleasant and talkative and gave suggestions / recommendations. It was a little hurtful since I was so excited to come in and check it out. The coffee is good but the customer service was pretty bad. I expected at least the minimum and got less than that. I’m going to try to go in again and see if I have a different experience but I wasn’t thrilled by my first time there.
This place is so amazing. They aren’t pretentious AND they don’t get annoyed with my specific coffee order. Love the shaded patio and featured artwork. Its usually a 5-15 minute visit! Some of my local shops it seems take forever, especially with a line. Thank you!
Very quiet. Can be easy to miss. It’s right off highland corner and 12th Street. Definitely a cozy place to focus, get work done or study. The barista was friendly. Since it was my first time here I asked for a suggestion for an iced latte. He suggested the butter beer latte. I had that with oat milk. I love the fact that non diary milk is offered here. The latte was delicious, smooth and not overly sweet.
Chill ambience & quality roasted coffee. Support local and get better coffee for your money then when buying from larger corporations. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Staff is friendly & helpful good to know this place is here
Very good coffee house which is rather small and also rather discreet that is hard to find but worth it. Quality of the product was excellent.
Just moved in the neighborhood & decide to visit the coffee shop on the corner. My first & probably my last visit wasnt like all the great reviews I read before going... I told the barista it was my 1st time & my usual mix of coffee & asked for her suggestion, she directed me to the menu & said pick what you want. If I knew what I wanted by the menu I wouldnt have asked for a suggestion.
Good coffee, friendly staff, cute location, great covered patio area. Need more food/breakfast options.Have been here two times now. Both times the cold brew has been delicious. They also have sugar free flavoring options which I love. The staff has been friendly, the location is nice and clean. The outdoor patio is covered and enclosed on the side with vines which helps keep it cool. This will be helpful in the summer. The only recommendation I would have is to provide more food options. They have a few patties and tamales, but with no other options next door (in the morning) either, more food options would be appreciated. Breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, etc.
Such a lovely little coffee shop. Amazing coffee drinks, cool atmosphere. The barista was friendly and knowledgeable of the many different coffee drinks. If you have not had the experience of visiting here, make it your next stop for coffee!
First time at Esso, Great ambiance, and excelente service. Will be back
Best coffee in town, and a great staff! The menu is tight and scrumptious so pop in, treat yourself, and enjoy a quiet cuppa in this private garden patio locale.
Since we wanted to spend time here, we came here for coffee last week. We enjoy chit-chatting over a coffee cup. We picked this spot because one of the best places to get coffee is here. I just think chocolate overwhelms coffee, so you may think youre drinking hot chocolate. A try is worth it!
Horrible Chai. Small and uncomfortable setting. Over priced.
Came for a latte, stayed for the breezy patio and left with bags of tea leaves and ground coffee to enjoy at home. I’ll need to try the scones next time!!
What a great spot to grab a cold brew, love their bulletproof coffee. Im glad John tosses in a sprinkle of cinnamon - makes it taste like a cinnamon bun. Brandon is very helpful and friendly. Glad I work in the same building as this place. I frequent here about twice a week.
This local coffee shop is always amazing. The brew is such a great combination of all the roast flavors and natural aromas of the bean. It’s in a perfect complex with tons of parking and covered areas for sitting and enjoying company or a book while you drink your coffee. The staff is super chill and friendly. One of my favorite coffee spots in Phoenix it’s also nice because it’s walking distance. Go check out Esso Support local!
Great coffee and staff. Must try their Tamales!
The secret is out! This hidden gem is becoming a popular coffee/tea joint in the neighborhood. It has such a community feel to it. I used to only drink Starbucks but Esso was the first place to convert me. The espresso is so dang good. They also have a variety of specialty drinks that are so tasty. For example, white chocolate coconut latte and tumeric lemonade. Also Sharon the owner is quite sweet. If you are a restaurant or shop looking to buy beans, highly recommend. Such a unique, luxury, specialty brand. Hope to see this coffee at the hotels in the area one day. The best! I cant get enough!
This coffee shop is my favorite place to hang and do my work. I love this place because it was so quiet, cozy, and not too crowded. The coffees and pastries that they had were so delicious. My favorite coffee in this shop was the 3-shots of espresso. I really love the coffee in this shop. The barista was so pleasant and very friendly. Highly recommended coffee shop.
This place is a hidden gem! It is right off the corner of 12th St and Highland (the A frame signs made it helpful to find) in a newly built complex. There are so many things to like about this place. They roast their own coffee, the customer service is great, and did I mention they are dog friendly?I tried the Esso Special Soda. Chocolate, carbonated water, and espresso! I have never had anything like it before, but it was so good! I will def be back many more times to come! So glad I found this place.
Everything was in order, and the staff was very respectful and humble. They also made certain that we had everything we needed. Thanks a lot! I am writing this review because I want you to be known by many! AWESOME service in the town!
The coffee, muffin and atmosphere is wonderful. dog friendly too.
Great coffee, nice and knowledgeable people who took the time to talk to me, a beginner drinker, about coffee
The temperature in the espresso is not correct. It was luke warm on a straight up double shot of espresso. Please check the Temp before each shift. I’ll come back in a few weeks to check back in. date of visit 7/4/21 11:00 AM
Hidden gem. Intimate little coffee shop displaying local artwork with knowledgeable and courteous baristas brewing up unrivaled caffeine infused cups of love.
We dropped by to pick up coffee on our way out of town so there wasnt much hanging around and enjoying the place. However, I have to say, this was one of the best cups of straight-up black coffee Ive ever had.
My first time in and I was so excited to see allmond! I got the large iced tiramisu latte with oatmeal and it was the best coffee Ive had in a long time. Thank You Esso Coffeehouse Youre Amazing!!
Amazing coffee, great friendly service and no joke, that was a good tamale. 👌
GREAT WIFI - GREAT COFFEE!!!! What ELSE could you want? Essos coffee is simply INCREDIBLE!!! HIGHLY recommend you get in here, they have a neighbor that provides some wonderful lunch as well!
This cafe is tucked away and a great find. I enjoyed spending several hours there reading and sipping on coffee. They have a variety of tamales and treats. Also spots to plug in laptops. Very cute and cozy cafe. Would recommend.
Cute coffee spot with a relaxing vibe, the coffee was great and the service was good. I recommend the lavender latte
Friendly place, good service.
Their coffee is amazing, cozy interior and nice, friendly personal. It was a cold day, so I asked to make an iced latte with very little ice in it, and they made it exactly as I asked! Oh, and almost forgot to mention their pastries, Ive got the one with walnuts, orange and cranberries, it was soft, not too sweet and very tasty :)
Very pleasant staff. Knowledgeable about local roasters and their own brew
Love this quiet quaint spot. I ordered the Honey Lavender Latte and a cookie and my friend had the Bee Pollen Latte and also had a cookie. Both were very pleasant to the pallet and will definitely return and order again, but also want to try all the house favorites.
By far the best coffee Ive ever had!!! I got the tiramisu latte with pumpkin spice and omg I couldnt be happier
Unfortunately I do not plan on returning. Esso can make a pretty good cup of plain ole Joe without burning the hell out of it but steer clear of their specialties. Sometimes they are delicious and other times (like this morning) you may find yourself throwing it up and wasting the $5 you spent. Save your money and your tummy... try The Hive or Songbird or make your own coffee at home.
Great coffee and a great atmosphere. The quality of their roast is top notch. Staff is super friendly. Very cozy spot with indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a must try if you’re in the area.
Delicious drinks with amazing ambiance and great staff!
Wonderful little hole in the wall coffee shop. Feels like I step out of the hustle and bustle of the daily grind, into my own little slice of Nirvana. The Baristas know how to pour a pristine cappuccino!
I typically make my own espresso at home because Starbucks makes me sad and there are very few shops in my area, and those that are either pull bad coffee or I prefer different types of coffee than they serve. I was so impressed by this shop. I only popped in and out for a quick drink but their lever machine and bottomless portafilter set up made my day. Definitely not doing it the easy way and I think I can taste that little bit of extra effort. Thanks!!
Great coffee! We always make sure to have a bag of their in house roasted beans at home. One of our favorite go to local coffee shops.
Its a good spot. Best in that area for atmosphere. Above average coffee. Friendly service. Id go back when in the area. Good spot to chill or do some work
My favorite coffee shop. Owner & staff are fantastic. The coffee is THE BEST!
Great little place for a quiet study session. Very calm. The coffee was great and they have different options of treats which is really nice as well.
They sold me a growler of cold brew for $15 and said refills would be $5 off. I came back less than a month later and refills are $15 (the growlers are now $20).I wouldnt expect something like this to last forever, but thats a pretty short time for the price to go up so much.
Great service, cute place and friendly baristas. Bulletproof coffee was awesome! Definitely our go to for the rest of our trip.
Love this place - great staff and atmosphere. The Esso Soda is SO GOOD and unique!
Great drinks and nice atmosphere! Workers are polite, but a little cold sometimes.
Some really good coffee comes from this little place! They use a small Lever pressure espresso machine meaning that not only is the coffee strong, but it also comes out rather quickly in comparison to those steam driven machines that take time to build up pressure. The only complaint I have is that parking is pretty terrible and seating inside is limited. Not really their fault though so of course 5 stars anyways for the great coffee and happy service!
High quality coffee in a nice, calm environment. I really like the selection of art books left on the table and rotation of local art on the walls.Support local business, Esso does it well and your money stays in the community longer than if you went to a major chain.
Cozy space with great coffee! I like the lofty feel of it and how the patio has a wall of vines keeping it secluded and cozy.
GREAT coffee! A bit pricier with smaller sizes than most coffee shops. Atmosphere is a little dark and small, but has an outdoor patio option!
Best coffee shop in town!
The coffee and tea here are very high quality and the atmosphere is chill and laid back. That being said, theres nothing that makes this place particularly special, except for maybe their really nice copper antique espresso machine. Ive been here a few times and have never recieved exceptional or friendly service. The dim lighting also seems to match the mood of management and their baristas. Hopefully there can be some improvement to make experiences overall a bit better.
All in all, this hidden gem has top notch brunch and coffee at a reasonable price without the crazy long waits of other places in the valley! Will definitely be coming back.
Good coffee but they dont require masks in such a small space. I have no way to not endanger my health and buy their coffee, so sad.
Very nice small coffee shop with Mexican pastries and tamales. I had the Chile Verde pork and a green corn, both excellent with coffee. There was traffic in and out, always a good sign. Free refill on the coffee, I will definitely go back, especially because its walking distance from my place
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Im so happy I moved down the street. Now I have a local coffee shop walking distance from me. I tried cold brew for the first time ever and I loved it! I asked for hazelnut sweetener and whipped cream = perfection! no milk needed! Also, love the fact they are pet friendly!
My favorite coffeehouse in the valley. I’m lucky to live close enough to walk but if you don’t it’s well worth the drive!
Delightful dog-friendly neighborhood coffeehouse. The eclectic coffee menu is a refreshing change from corporate coffeehouse menus.
Parking is short and rough considering there are other businesses in the area. The shop is nice inside with friendly people. The coffee is nice. A solid place tucked away in the city.
Delicious coffee in a cozy space. The vintage espresso machine they use is a work of art as are their lattes
A wonderful coffee shop close to downtown area. The perfect stop to get your day started. The pastries were very good, make sure you get them warmed up...so much better! Everything was very reasonably priced and the service was very friendly.
Really good, it was my first time and I decided on getting an Italian soda, got the honey flavor. They are really light and the flavor is subtle.
This place just opened and I really liked it. Great atmosphere with a sheltered patio area. Coffee and service were great. I met the owner and she was very friendly.
Very different. Hidden a bit, which makes this a unique and good place. Loved everything about this place from the art to the coffee and service was great!
Excellent coffee, cool atmosphere
Delicious coffee and great service in a beautifully renovated space. The owners have created their own special blend of beans and roast them on the premises. Excellent cold brew too!
Hidden gem in a super cool little shopping center. Its the SOs favorite coffee. Very quaint and minimalistic with a great product. Great environment to sip on a drink and read.
Great new place. I ordered a mocha with almond milk and it was fantastic. The owner was very nice and passionate about her work. I will definitely be coming back her frequently.
I have to pinch myself every morning because they are right across the street from where I live. Their coffee tastes like A+ quality and since they roast their own beans is LESS expensive than any of the chains around this neighborhood. I feel pretty lucky to have this friendly coffeeshop on my block.
Super cool vibe! Chill and quiet! The coffee is quite good and reasonably priced as well!
Officially the BEST mocha! Really great beans, smoothe! Coming from a very discriminating coffee critic, my 5-star rating says a lot. Thank you for opening your doors!
Kinda hard to find but a real gem! Amazingly good espresso done by baristas who know their craft. They also roast their own beans. Shaded seating and original paintings on the wall. Worth it.
Delicious coffee and baked treats! Also, the service was fantastic! Very cute atmosphere and comfy chairs for a small group to enjoy.
Good coffee! Their muffins are really good, too. Cute establishment.
Great atmosphere! The barista is extremely courteous and pleasant. My weekly break from a crazy life.
Like the atmosphere here. Coffee is good. Lots of options. Pastries are Mexican pan dulce. In a great little area.
Very cute coffee shop tucked away on Highland and 12th. Esso Coffeehouse is on the NW corner of the complex and hard to find. In the morning, there are many open parking spots. I recommend trying the tumeric golden latte. It is delicious. The staff is friendly and service is great.
Love this little spot. Super unpretentious, excellent coffee and great service. I went almost everyday while visiting Phoenix.
Best Coffee In The Valley...This Place Is An 11Great Staff Too!!
I really enjoyed the coffee here. Being my first time I got one of the specialty coffee with local honey. It was good and not to sweet.Barista was friendly, wifi worked really well and the space was clean and had plenty of outlets. Including a nice outdoor area to work.I look forward to purchasing some beans and trying it at home. Its not super insta-worthy, but it may be one of my fav places to work for that reason because its got nice quiet music and a professional and efficient vibe.
Quiet, quaint small space in the Melrose District to have coffee outside with friends. Coffee wasnt bad either, although Ive had better.
